This is a small restaurant, with a lot of small tables closely packed into the space. You get the feeling that the physical restrictions stopped the staff from giving any kind of proper attention to their customers needs. We wanted to start with a dimsum platter as a shared starter. That was not possible as it was brought at the same time asour main courses, Far too much on a tiny table at the same time. The mains were on the way to being cold before we were ready for them. The diim sum pkatter was no such thing. It was poorly presented. There were 2 uninspired dimsum items and 2 rolls -which have nothing to do with dim sum.My wife,s prawn tom yum soup wasmajorly disappointing. What a mistake! The service was slow. The woman that took my order gave me a blank look when I ordered and then 20 minutes later brought out the wrong dish. Back into the kitchen to re-order. When it eventually arrived it was utterly disappointing. The rice was cold and the duck/pork was bland, dry and unrecognisable. Wanted some Sichuan cooking but very put of by the bad service reviews of places in Chinatown. I get that service can be brusque and if that's the style OK but there is brusque and then rude. Why go to a place where they treat you like a peace of dog dirt, say they don't take credit cards when the sign says they do and insist on you paying the service charge when there has not be any. I just don't get it. No 10 does a page of Sichuan food and then a menu of more normal dishes found in a Chinese restaurant.Friendly serviceHalf full of Chinese Had boiled beef hotpot with loads of chillies and pepper. Beef very tender and the soup had an amazing flavour. Appearances, both externally and internally, are deceptive at this hidden gem of a restaurant. The staff being friendly and efficient, serve dependably excellent dishes from the vast menu. Not only is the food amazing, but incredibly cheap for such a well positioned and well attended restaurant. Having recently been on a trip to China, I was pleased to discover this restaurant as it is the most authentic I have come across. Whilst there are many great Chinese restaurants in London, most are not particularly authentic, having been adapted towards British tastes. The quality of the food is fairly good albeit not excellent (hence I've given it 4 stars instead of 5). The menu offers plenty of choice including many vegetarian options, and foods from different regions / styles. If you like tasteless dishes, MSG, and mechanically recovered chicken in your food, then this is definitely the place for you. The only dish that was even remotely decent was the boiled rice. Really - there are much better eating establishments on Earls Cout road. How on earth this place has survived for so long is beyond me. Utterly disgusting - the service was a mixture of a delightful little Asian girl followed by a rather shouty, grumpy-looking one. Seriously. Stay away. They don't deserve business if they serve-up this rubbish. Oh and there is a little white board with only Chinese writing. We were looking for a chinese restaurant where to take two ten year olds. I was browsing on line from the hotel when I realised that the place that was just round the corner was actually chinese ( no funny lanterns no revealing signs from the street) It was a very pleasant surprise. The kids wanted crispy duck and it was delivered very quickly without having to ask. The place is unassuming but filled with obvious local patrons rather than tourists. The food is more than decent and the waiters quick and efficient. Considering what a dinner can cost in the area it has an excellent $/quality ratio. Just don't expect fine dining. There are plenty of other places in South Kensington that can spill you 30£ extra for a table cloth. If you just want a decent meal and head back to the hotel to collapse after a long day of site seeing it's the place to go

Let's get this out of the way. It's decent, but not "authentic." If this was opened anywhere else, it wouldn't make it. These false reviews do not help. Here is how my night went.Anyways, when I went it wasn't busy. There was one family in there, but they were already served. We ordered two dishes; soup and bbq pork. It took about 15 minutes to come out. The staff all congregated near the bar area. They are very over staffed, because all of them were just hanging out. Food portions are decent, and the taste is mediocre. They do add their tip in, just like many restaurants in London. I find it unfair if their service isn't even that great. My advice is to keep looking.

Delicious food in perfect portions. The food taste not like europeanchinese. It was much better. Also nice to look at what the Chinese people eat and drink. The service was perfect . They tell us about the dishes. We recommend the restaurant and will visit it again.

I am genuinely baffled by the good reviews on here. We ordered some of the Sichuanese dishes and there wasn't even a hint of chili let alone a sichuan peppercorn. It all tasted of the same sticky, processed chinese sauce that some chinese restaurants unfortunately think Londoners want. I was starving when I ordered a takeaway and it was actually so disgusting I had to walk all the way there to return. One of the dishes tasted like dirty water and fish despite there not being any fish in the meal. I would really recommend anyone to steer clear. For Sichuanese the best is Sichuan Folk all the way in Brick Lane. There the food actually resembles very closely what you get in Sichuan.

We were staying in the Earls Court area on a recent visit to London, and fell into this restaurant by accident because the thai restaurant next door had closed down. What a find! The szechuan dishes we ordered were perfect - spicy and tasty. The crispy fried duck with szechuan peppercorn was fantastic, and the braised sea bass also really food. We will definitely visit this gem again! The waitress needs to smile a little, though.

We found this restaurant by chance tucked down a side street off of Earl's Court Road - and what a great find! The food was of a very good standard, extremely tasty and really good value. Seems to be frequented by a lot of Chinese people so that's a good sign. The restaurant itself is fairly cramped and basic, but the good food more than makes up for that.

Authentically Chinese, unlike most Chinese restaurants in Europe, which are more European versions of Chinese restaurants than pure Chinese. I was the only European there tonight. Delicious food, large portions, tiny prices, good service.

We ate here twice during a 10 day stay in Kensington & really enjoyed both visits. The restaurant like many near the Earl's Court tube stop is pretty small, but it obviously enjoys a loyal crowd as it was always full or near full when we ate there. Good Chinese food, extensive menu and reasonable prices. When paired with the Tsingtao beer you can't go wrong. We'll eat there again the next time we're in London.

I'm giving them an "average" rating because the food was pretty good and reasonably priced IF you can endure the service. I don't know if the server we had was just having a bad night, but she was nearly unable to take our order, deliver it or allow us to pay for it. There was a lot of eye-rolling, long sighing, frowning, and general despondency. Not once did we get a smile, a "thank you for coming in" or any such courtesy. It was so bad, it was comical. We did not tip anything in addition to the applied service charge and understand completely why they must apply it, otherwise they wouldn't be able to collect a penny. The food wasn't exceptional, but it was well prepared and met our expectations. The portions were reasonable. There was a large variety on the menu and which seems to be typical for the area. There was definitely a Szechuan-spicy focus. If you are staying in the neighborhood and want a quick meal of Chinese food, give it a shot. If you have other options, use them.

We have been regular visitors to No. 10 for a few years now (as well as it being our preferred takeaway), and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food at a low price, right across the road from Earls Court station. This is a Szechuan restaurant, and the Szechuan dishes on the menu are the definite highlight; my favourite is the mixed offal slices, but having tried a fair amount of the rest of the huge menu, everything is freshly made and delicious. There is also what looks like a specials board - I'd love to try it, but it is only in Chinese and I'm not brave enough. The service is friendly if not polished, and the wine list does the job. Your bill will include a 10% service charge, but when you see the total you will feel guilty for not paying more (it really is amazing value).A real must for anyone in search of proper Chinese food in London, at a reasonable price.

I have visited No.10 on a number of occasions and always enjoyed the experience. There is wide selection of food to choose from and, if like me you like hot food, there are a number of dishes to try. I find it a tad expensive but not ridiculously so. You have to watch the 10% service charge. The staff are friendly and it is good to sit and watch the hustle and bustle outside. Try it out!

I have visited this local Chinese restaurant on several occasions, and it produces consistently good quality food with strong Szechuan feel - if you like chilli in your food, there are definitely some good options for you here! The surroundings are simple (although it was refurbished a year or two ago, so it is perfectly adequate) and the service is cool, but certainly not rude or inattentive. If you want a starter then a main course, with the courses brought separately, then make this clear when ordering, otherwise everything can come together. Prices are very reasonable, and the overall experience is definitely positive.

We actually had take-out but the staff were friendly and the food excellent. I think we ordered most things off the menu as we were starving and everything was great. Thanks!

My husband and I sought this restaurant out specifically, based on reviews we had read about the amazing food. Those turned out to be true: the food was amazing! We had one of the fixed menus - they brought out fried rice, and appetizer platter, and three main courses. All of them were absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. The service, though, was terrible. When we came into the restaurant, we were the only table. We placed our order and we were still the only table. In short order, four other tables came in and filled - all of them with at least one Chinese speaker. Now, my husband and I do not speak Chinese, but we thought that this must bode well for authentic food, so we were happy. We were not so happy, though, when all of these tables, who placed orders AFTER us, got their food BEFORE us. Then when we tried to pay our bill, the staff took our credit card, put it aside, and processed another table's bill BEFORE they dealt with ours. I have no idea why on earth they would do that...Long story short, the food is amazing, but if you go there, be prepared for a long wait unless you are a native Chinese speaker.

I phoned to make my order, very aggressive and rude man answered and took the order. They don't even clean the prawns that black stuff is still on it, the shop and kitchen looks dirty, it's definitely overpriced, I had a horrible experience and below par food. Save your money as plenty other options to eat in Earl's Court.

An affordable Chinese fast-food restaurant offering a variety of menu options with decent taste. The service is quick, and food is served promptly. However, the restaurant space is a bit small and cramped.

Worst service in South Ken with several staffs, and problematic hygiene. If you do not wish to be pressed by staff here to decide on what you wanna order multiple times when you have just sit down for a couple of minutes, or stared by waiters when they serve for literally no reason, or having a stomachache after dinner, don't come. You'll thank me for this. It was 19:40 and there's very few customers coming by, so I politely asked the staff whether I and my friend could use the large table instead where it would be easier to make conversations. I would have totally understand if they refused. But in addition to refusion the staff loudly throw sarcasm at us: “that's so weird! Are you coming here for food or dating?”. The other waiter then constantly stare at us as she serves the dishes. My friend had a stomachache later that day, I wonder why. The sand wall restaurant is so cute. On closing day, the old wall lamp remembered to call me to set off fireworks for you. At first, I thought it was a racist who looked down on mainlanders. After looking at the Google reviews, I found out that Lao Deng was a virtuous AOE. Is the restaurant named Jia because there is no home or no 🐎?
