Music was superb. Small venue but that’s what makes it so good. Service was quick and decent for just a drink. Well priced too. Tunes were on point if you are over 40 like myself!

Tremendous small room, beautiful decor and nicest stools I've seen in Newcastle. Close to everything and anything. First class passionate bar tender shaking up lovely cocktails. Open 2pm to 2am Fri Sat, hours on line are wrong. Kudos to Jac and Josh. Highly recommend the gin old fashioned.

Cocktails were nice but the deal would have been better if you could get different ones.

Average priced cocktails that are poorly made. Ambience is ok and the downstairs area is interesting. A place for 1 drink then on to somewhere else. No craft beers on tap here.

Maybe my age but loud loud music and open door onna freezing night. Remember the original back in the 1970's very different.

Maybe an off day but I was served the worst Old Fashioned ever. Lazy, zero effort and made with Jamesons. I wasn't asked what I'd prefer (next time use a good Rye, lads). No muddled orange, or bitters anywhere near it. Awful.

Nicely designed cocktail / late night bar next to theatre royal. Nice alternative to the more mainstream bars on grey street. Good range of beers and wine, cocktails very popular. Good tunes too!

One of the best places for cocktails in Newcastle. The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to choices. The range of cocktails on the menu has expanded considerably since the before times and they have a decent choice of bottled beers too.

Nice little bar next door to The theatre Royal ,sadly the theatre isn’t open so this little bar needs support ,it’s small but it’s quirky ,there is another room downstairs ,friendly staff and there is outside seating great area to people watch

Great cocktails and now with Donzoko Northern Helles on draft! Limited seating upstairs but pop downstairs and you'll find a cozy little "bunker". Their negroni is top notch.

Small artisan bar next to the theatre royal. Decent service, but lacked a bit of atmosphere. Toilets were tiny and lacked hand drying capabilities. It was a bit cold but that was probably due to the small space and for options.

Tiny little bar with great atmosphere. Called in before going to the Theatre Royal. Good choice of cocktails at really good prices. Plenty of space for a tiny bar and even has seats outside.

Venue is ran by the same management as Beirrex. Great music, outstanding staff and friendly clientele. Never had a bad night here despite being cramped and the loo being a nightmare.

Had a drink in here waiting for a show next door at Theatre Royal. This is a nice little bar with helpful staff and good beers, had the neck oil and it was excellent. Sat outside and watched the world go by. Recommended

Great innovative drinks, its hard to find a place like this in Newcastle. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgable and not afraid of on the spot concoctions or making off menu classics. Attention to detail is spot on.

My fave bar in town. "Cosy" but there's something unique and personal about it, reminds me of European bars you stumble across down cobbled alleys.

Simply the best cocktails in Newcastle. Exceedingly knowledgeable, creative and professional staff who know their craft and make a great drink. A fab and very independent atmosphere gives this bar a distinctive and inviting demeanour that cant be ignored. Pop in for a cocktail, a glass of wine or some beer. Either way you won’t be disappointed.

A brilliant cocktail bar with fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable staff. The cocktails are an experience; strong and full of flavour. None of the ice and juice over load that you'll likely get at other establishments. Our first time visiting this bar but we will definitely be back.

No longer open on a Wednesday or Sunday. Open Thurs 4pm to 12, Fri & Sat 4pm to 2am. Roy has know left, he is opening a bar in flat cap Joe's shortly.

I went to this bar with friends on recommendation. I have to say that Roy and his team make the best cocktails in Newcastle. I asked for a vodka martini and wow it's the best one I've had so far. The venue whilst quite small has a great vibe. We didn't want to leave but had a meal booked to continue the celebrations. We all agreed we would visit again as we enjoyed ourselves so much. A little gem tucked into the side of the Theatre Royal!

Had a pint and a wee chartreuse the other afternoon. Canny vibes, compact but quality beer list and the man behind the bar was very helpful and made some good jokes, Ray I think his name was. Will return on my next visit to Newcastle.

Tiny bar, almost walked past but the door was open and it looked good, so we stopped for a quick drink, as we were tight for time. Cool, atmospheric with an interesting drinks menu and helpful and obliging bar staff - possibly the proprietor. We could have happily spent longer here...we'll definitely be back!

Lovely compact cool/trendy bar adjacent to the Theatre Royal. Darkened and intimate with some good background sounds. Nice staff. Look out for the vintage operating theatre table used as a bar table !! Me and my wife called in for a quick drink on the way home and we loved it, planning on a proper visit sometime.

More character than all of the other Grey Street bars put together; I only wish it was larger and that fewer people ordered cocktails as it can take an age to get served. Worth the wait though for the delightful choices of drinks. Spotted some charceuterie which we will try next time. Great bar

Very small venue but staff appeared suitably knowledgeable. Only one toilet available which could be a nightmare on a busy night. We went when we were the only couple in there apart from 3 other patrons but there was still a fight for the toilet. Good venue for a late night cap after a night out but would not frequent here on a regular basis

My favourite new bar in Newcastle. Small, cute, cool, chic and inexpensive. I’m not 100% what their intention was when they opened Nitehawks but it’s very similar to the small snug like bars we experienced last year in Bilbao. Try their delicious new charcuterie and cheese boards in 4 different preparations... and open late too!
