The Real Greek - Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne

We had the displeasure of being stuck for somewhere to go to eat, all our regular places were either closed or fully booked. The food was hugely overpriced, none of it was fresh, took ages to come out despite the restaurant being almost empty. The worst meal we’ve eaten in a long time.

We stumbled across this wonderful place yesterday afternoon and already can't wait to go back. We had walked out of their next door neighbour restaurant following an unpleasant encounter with a member of their staff who was unwelcoming, to say the least. We are now so glad we did as Steven and all the staff in The Real Greek couldn't have been more helpful and attentive from start to finish. The lunch menu was a fantastic deal with plenty to choose from to suit all of us. Each dish was absolutely delicious, including the dessert, which Steven persuaded two of us to try. We will most definitely be back as soon as we can.

Always happy to try somewhere different when in Newcastle, and reviews for here seemed good. I found it to be a nice enough place with fast service but the food was average at best, and certainly not the best value for money compared to other Greek restaurants in town. 3 pieces of chicken in a wrap and 2 meatballs in the other one at £9 a pop. Yes tasty enough, but by the time you added on a small dip of tzatziki and small portion of potatoes for another tenner I think it was overpriced, my opinion of course but that's how I feel.

We visited Saturday 9th without a booking. Luckily we managed to get a table, the drinks and food came in a timely manner. The food was amazing and the best tzatziki outside of Greece. Everything was delicious. Steven was fantastic. Thank you for amazing food and great service

Food was lovely, a great Geordie welcome with nice a bit of banter. Whilst it was a tad cool it was very spacious and very clean. Not a busy night so the atmosphere was missing something. We had 3 dishes each and the moussaka was to die for. It was all full of flavour and 3 dishes each was enough. I tried a cocktail and my partner had the house red wine . Water was also served. Toilet was nice n clean too

We have always fancied trying this place and finally got the opportunity. We were not disappointed. From entering to leaving we were made very welcome by the staff and the food was even better than we were hoping for. The way it was served on "afternoon tea" platters was excellent and made it easier to eat. Highly recommended and we will be back.

I absolutely adore this place. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is super tasty for both vegetarians and meat eaters and comes out in great time. I couldn’t fault the service at all. I’ve been before and I’ll come again!! 10/10

We booked online and went for a 50th birthday celebration with family. The staff were great, friendly and helpful, the lady in charge that day (sorry I didn’t get her name) was really efficient and good fun, even gave me a birthday card as well as a free cocktail!
