Nippon Izakaya in Barnet

This spot is useless for online ordering. I have placed an order for the family dinner for delivery and received nicely designed system showing my order number, its acceptance, cooking in a kitchen and on a way with a driver status with delivery at 19:47. At about 20:00 iI called to restaurant to check whereabouts of my order and then I realised that no one sent my order to the kitchen for preparation. All information showing on restaurant’s online portal such as a timing, status, etc. is a lie. It is huge disappointment because I’m returning customer for this restaurant for the years and have been there it with my family and friends for a dozen of times. After having seen faces of my children and grandson who came to London to spent a day for family event and after spending more than an hour waiting for a food which was not even started preparation I decided to stop going to Nippon Izakaya and will do all my best to divert all my friends, business partners and family members from visiting and/or ordering food from this restaurant from now and onwards. Needless to say that I have cancelled the order and family event end up with KFC chicken… The good thing is that people in Local KFC branch were honest, quick and professional.

This place is amazing, amazing food, amazing staff, quality of food was amazing and authentically Japanese. Best Asian food I’ve ever had. Deserts were also really good and the ramen I had was great. I really like this restaurant and I recommend it!

We bought a Groupon offer to try this place and it was decent. 60pc hot food platter. Nice variety and friendly staff. Only criticism is majority of platter was fried food, could easily include something like steamed rice & edamame to mix it up. We did add some maki rolls. Wine was also nice. This is my first visit to a Japanese restaurant in London and what a great experience, The food is superb , My starter of spare ribs was probably the best I’ve tasted tender meat covered in a crunchy coating in a delicious bbq sauce. This was followed by a Bento box of tempura prawns rice and vegetables and pickles. Again well presented fresh and tasty. In conclusion great service food and price

Lovely small Japanese restaurant. We had a three course meal: everything was fresh and hot: vegetable gyoza, vegetable tempura, I had a beef teriyaki bento box, which came with miso soup starter, rice, salad, pickles and root veg cakes. The yaki soba was very good. Desserts of green tea ice cream and Japanese pancakes with custard were yummy. Good warm sake and a little dish of refreshing fruit - gratis finished a wonderful experience. We'll be back!

We were on a short break in London, staying nearby and wanted something a little different for our evening meal. Nippon Izakaya was just round the corner so we thought we'd give it a try. We went early evening and there weren't many other diners at that time. Service from our young waitress was very good. Our food was delivered quite quickly and very nicely presented. The food was very tasty and overall the experience was not expensive for London area.

The food was lovely with a great selection with images included on each dish. The waiters were incredibly polite and helpful. Overall excellent service and experience!

If you have a craving for Japanese food (which I do almost all the time) and don't have time to venture into central London, Nippon Izakaya is not a bad option, and for us it's pretty local. In reality, the quality and authenticity of the food is extremely variable. I was quite excited to see okonomiyaki on the menu, but the actual dish was a little underwhelming. I suppose you have to go to Abeno in central London for the real thing, which costs 3x the price of Nippon Izakaya. But some of the other dishes were a reasonable attempt at authentic Japanese food such as the Nanban Yaki Udon and the Yaki Niku Donburi. I find British beef ever so chewy but in this dish it was pleasantly soft. It seems like the staff in this restaurant are Hong Kong Chinese, judging by the Cantonese that they were speaking, and that comes across ever so slightly in their cooking. Would I go again? Yes though I'd be careful about what dishes I ordered although their prices are pretty reasonable for a type of cuisine that can certainly be very pricey.

We tried this restaurant for the first time on Saturday night. It was busy and the food was great but my meal arrived after the three others in our group had finished eating theirs! And, when it arrived it was the wrong dish and so had to be returned. It was very odd as I had only ordered seafood ramen so it was nothing complicated to prepare. But the most disappointing thing was that nobody offered an apology for the lateness at all or for getting the meal wrong. I found that very odd indeed.

We found this place on Groupon and it was conveniently located only 1 minute walk from The Glenlyn Hotel we are staying at. We found the place easily and received a warm welcome on arrival and they were quick to seat us and confirm our Groupon. The surroundings are very elegant and serene and we both commented on lovely it was, staff are all dressed in very smart Japanese clothing and it all added to a nice atmosphere. Drinks were served quickly and the food quickly followed, we had a 60 piece hot food platter and all items were explained to us, we were also offered cutlery if not familiar with chopsticks. The food was absolutely delicious, we couldn't fault it. Lovely selection on salmon, chicken, prawn and vegetable items. The sauces to accompany were equal delicious. It was very reasonable indeed as Groupon and still excellent value if you can't get a voucher. The restaurant had a variety of guests from couples, friends such as ourselves and families and was suited to all. We will definitely visit again when in Finchley and look forward to it. I would recommend the Spring non-alcoholic cocktail, it was bright and fresh.

Visited here a few years ago and remember how lovely it was. Decided to come back with the family and was not disappointed. Children had some amazing seafood fried rice and and we had a variety of sushi, so fresh. Will recommend if in the area to give it a try.

I just had dinner in this Japanese restaurant with my fiance and we both loved it. It has been such a big surprise to find an amazing restaurant like this one not too far from home. We had the mix starter, the Dobin Mushi soup (mix seafood and mushrooms), the rainbow and volcano special maki and oh my God it was gooood!!! I absolutely advice any Japanese food lover to come to eat here because they make absolutely the best Japanese food we have both ever eaten.

Today my fiancee and I decided to discover this local Japanese restaurant. I was blown away. Thd presentation, the service, the tast of the food is 5 star. We had a mix starter that included seeweed salad, tempura prawn, squid balls, etc., seefood soup, two different kinds of sushi rolls. I cant wait to come back and try the other dishes on the menu.

I ordered through deliveroo, and the food arrived in amazing packaging that kept the food warm and fresh. The quality of this food is beyond anything available around the area, the Nigiri was fresh and tasted impeccable. I highly recommend the Aburi Salmon Nigiri. I will definitely be ordering from Nippon Izakaya again.

We came for dinner having booked it because we had a Groupon voucher. Our temperatures were taken on arrival and hand gel was offered. The sushi voucher was great value and there was a huge assortment of sushi for the three of us (sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls) and we ordered some hot dishes too separately. All dishes were displayed in a pretty manner - especially the sashimi. The service was pretty fast, can't think of any negative points!

We booked a table, we arrived earlier and even though the entire restaurant had only 2 tables (4 poplin total) dining at that time we were refused to be given a table until our booking time was up. It was not a problem, we decided to go for a coffee in a nearby cafe. When our booking time was up we returned and we had our meal.
