Come to the restaurant at Bonds street. Maybe the size is smaller with less tables to serve, the foods taste better here. Especially like the Ramen and sushi here

It's sad to see their prices go up and up whilst the quality of their fish go down and down. I've been a regular at this branch for close to 20 years and since COVID, the quality is worse each time which I've just come to accept. The thickness of the cut is now next to paper thin. There are still value dishes as long as you stick with the cooked foods.

New review for October 2024 Probably the worst dining experience in Eat Tokyo for the past 10 years we had been. This Eat Tokyo is so different after the previous manager left early this year. The waitress who is wearing pink is extremely rude and bossy. We asked her what is served in luxury sashimi boat for today as we understand everyday, there will be different fishes and ingredients they got. She just simply said some name, while the boat served, it was different from what she said. We asked her and she said waitress has no time to check with chef. If in this case, you should have not answer what is in the luxury sashimi boat by your own answer. We have decided not to come back to this branch anymore as the experience is really poor. The review below was left in 2022. One of the best Eat Tokyo we always love to visit. Busy restaurants but with very nice staff. We understand the restaurant is normally busy but they do not let us feel left out. Thanks Paulyn and team. 👍 Food is always good and standard is always there. Love their Lobster Sashimi a lot.

Very long queue. You order on a tablet which is convenient. The dishes are quite cheap but the taste is mediocre. The curry rice size is massive.

This was my first time here and picked based on the number of reviews. The food was average ( I got a tuna teriyaki and my friend got a pork cheek dish). I guess a downer was seeing a live worm/ insect in the salad. We pointed it out to the waiter who apologised and took it away. Unwashed salad is a problem and we hope that will be rectified going forward. My friend said the matcha beer was stale, I had a bottled keirin which was nice and the glasses were chilled which I thought was a nice touch :) Service wasn't the best given we felt they didn't handle the worm in salad well, no apology at the end, waited a while for cutlery despite asking a few times, and when the bill came no gesture of goodwill / service charge still added on. Atmosphere was good, packed restaurant so maybe this was a one off. Not somewhere we'd come back again though.

Booked a table for 8:30 and waited 30 minutes in a cramped corridor before giving up.

Matcha beer suprised me, I really liked it. Staff was nice, very humble. Benton box was tasty. And they make the best Miso soup here. AC was on, I was cold, so one star down for the atmosphere.

Great food. Staff were accommodating especially the new manager Alex who let us have a table of 10 when we booked earlier but clear about the time they needed it back. Polite and helpful. We got one of the first dishes we ordered very late so they didn't push us to leave when they originally said which was kind and even gave us a goodwill gift. Sushi was very fresh, the chicken katsu was the only thing we didn't like due to a layer under the crumbs.

Although there is a very long queue, it is definitely worth it (you should probably book in though). The food is absolutely delicious, wide range of drinks and delicious sushi and noodles on the menu, friendly staff and fairly cheap prices! Amazing sushi place. There is one right down the road to it which is equally as amazing.

After last time I was hesitant to order the chicken katsu bento box, but I did and I am so glad! Not sure what has changed, but this time I had the most amazing, delicious, fresh, tasty, great protion of chicken katsu bento! Thank you!

Eat Tokyo is a popular Japanese restaurant chain with several branches across London, and I often find myself at their Golders Green location. There’s always a queue outside, no matter which branch you go, and that just goes to show how much people love this place. What I really like about Eat Tokyo is how authentic the food is. It’s the real deal—great quality, so many options and generous portions, and pretty reasonably priced too. My favourite dish has to be the Engawa nigiri sushi. It’s something you don’t see at other so-called Japanese restaurants in London, but they usually have Engawa here, so I always make sure to order some. The staff are always friendly and ready to help, which makes the whole experience even better. If you want to skip the wait, try going around 9pm on a weekday when it’s usually a bit quieter. Overall, Eat Tokyo in Golders Green is my go-to spot for a taste of Japan in London. If you’re into Japanese food, you should definitely check it out! 😘

Rice was warm, fish was bland and poor value for money but the miso soup was nice.

This is the best eat tokyo. Service is always fast (even when they are packed) plus the food is delicious and authentic. An absolute treat and one of my partner's fav places for a dinner out. 100/100

While the menu can be quite overwhelming (so much choice and everything looks delicious), the food was amazing, the service friendly, the atmosphere busy and cheerful. Everything we had was delicious but outstanding really was the sushi. We came without booking and had to wait a few minutes and we could see more people arriving and queuing. It’s worth it!

Delicious, affordable and authentic

My friends and I went to Eat Tokyo on a Friday night. We didn’t have any booking, they were quite busy as it was dinner time, but they still managed to seat us so that we didn’t wait long. There are lots of options on the menu, starters are about £3-£7. With main meals and Bento Box’s starting from £9 onwards. Staff were attentive, giving us water and making sure we were happy with everything. The vibe inside was nice, female staff are in kimonos too, so it really gives off a Japanese aesthetic. Food was delicious, very good value for money, especially in the heart of London where dinners can be quite pricey. Would recommend if you like Japanese food.

Cold food, slow service. Ordered food but wrong/missing items. Mains came in drips and drabs until asked. Missing item suddenly appeared as well. Asked for service charge to be removed which they did, fair play. The staff were more interested in takeaway orders rather than dine in. Maybe you should shut the restaurant and just become a takeaway. Happened with the other branch

Used to eat here all the time when I lived in Golder’s Green 15 years ago, so happy it’s still open. Their bento box is spectacular.

Eat Tokyo is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever tried and I'm going there since 2009. The food question, potion size and atmosphere never changed in years. They represent the true quality of Japanese food. Love it and never get tired of it.

This place is amazing! The food is very good quality and such good value, as portion sizes are so big. We tried many different items, and they were all great. The gyudon and oyakodon were incredible. I’ll definitely be coming back here when I get the chance!

I've been visiting Eat Tokyo for the past 10 years, and it's definitely my go-to place whenever I'm around Hampstead. Eat Tokyo delights with a great atmosphere and incredible food. I always opt for one of their bento boxes—my favorite is the teriyaki chicken and tempura, which never disappoints. I'm not a fan of sushi, but my friend ordered a few sushi dishes and was very satisfied as well.

This place is normally excellent and I am regular customer, however on yesterday's visit we ordered sushi and pork cutlet curry. The sushi was excellent as usual, but on this occasion the pork cutlet was tough as old boots, very fatty and difficult to chew it aslo lacked any marinade. Bit disappointed as on a previous visit this dish was tender and had excellent flavour . Hopefully chef can revert to the previous standard when I next visit

I liked the lunch option of grilled mackerel with miso soup and perfectly steamed short grain rice, which I enjoyed with Teriyaki stirred fried veggies. I was also pleased with the green tea.

If you haven’t been to this spot, I highly recommend to if you love East Asian cuisine. Service is exceptional from the minute you walk in right through till you leave. Food is amazing. Between two of us we had 7 different dishes and honestly could not fault any. Every dish is packed with so much flavour and tastes fresh. Portions are generous and priced really fair. Definitely going to be a usual spot.

Went there for the second time , it was amazing...fresh ingredients, nice and fresh chilled draft beer, fast service and amazing atmosphere...good portions as well and quality/price I must admit is perfect... definitely worth it. Looking forward to come back. Arigato goizamasu

Lovely service and the food never disappoints.

Have been a few times in the last month and it is always very busy. But the food is good, as is the service and the prices are reasonable. So, provided you can tolerate the noisy buzz it is a really good place to go - and the menu is super-extensive too.

The delivery was good but the food itself (the sushi fish) did not taste fresh at all. And the « crab » meet tasted like chicken, not at all like seafood (this was the spider roll)

Delicious sushi, you can taste high quality ingredients used in preparation. The service is quite fast and very friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for great sushi. I had salmon rolls, prawn tenpura and soft shelled crab

I found a bone in the salmon, the waiter brought me a complimentary beer, which was very kind of him, They served us ice cream that had no flavor, on a table still dirty with food.

Yes you will have to queue out the door for a table even if you've booked - it is that popular but it is totally worth it. We get takeaway sushi from here on a regular basis but do occasionally go in for the hot food, which is equally good. Every dish we've tried has been excellent and incredibly good value.

Wow where can I start , I took my daughter her for her 11th birthday meal. We haven’t actually been to a Japanese restaurant before I’m soo glad we decided to take her here. Food was absolutely delicious, all the lovely staff were very attentive, giving us a warm welcome. They even came out with an ice cream with a candle on it and sang happy birthday to our daughter. The whole restaurant sang along too! Such lovely people and atmosphere! We ordered the mixed bento boxes, crispy chicken dumplings. Food was deliciously hot and spot on. Thank you soo much everyone at Eat Tokyo we definitely will be back 💫☺️

Missing elements of order - some ikura rolls had no ikura in them

After been left standing for 20 minutes while a table was available and to be then told I can have it for 30 minutes .I am disabled and stood with a walking cane while others in bigger groups where seated.why leave me standing in pain to tell me 20 minutes later I can have the table I said was empty in the first place.i was a regular customer and dont think being spoken to the way I was was fair at all.shoking behaviour.

We had the best experience here in golders green compared to the ones in Central London .There was this amazing waitress named Emily was really nice definitely the best waitress of all time and it was my daughter's birthday and the lit the cake and it was amazing. Thank you so much. 100% recommend this branch and restaurant.

Wish I have the option to rate them none star instead of one. Never go there if you only want some nibbles in the afternoon or if you only want a main without starter, as they will rudely refuse to serve you.

Been ordering for many years from this restaurant. The quality has significantly declined. The black cod which used to be great for example is now nothing sort of being terrible.

Average food quality and service. No 'atmosphere' at all. The 'lady' manageress (?) was not particularly welcoming. They seem more interested in preparing and delivering take-aways than looking after their customers. We did not feel like being in a Japanese restaurant environment - we have lived in Japan by the way. Staff should smile more. However we did appreciate the young Japanese male waiter and his attention.

Good food that squid food was good

Rare authentic Japanese food in the heart of London. Our party was satisfied with the breadth and quality of the food choices. The curry was delicious though we expected a bit more variety in ingredients. The sashimi rice was delicious as well. The service was quite slow. Prices are quite reasonable.

When I saw chefs smoking and using their mobile phones outside their place in china town I never returned. Some people have absolutely no idea why they are asked to use hand gloves in the first place. It’s for hygiene guys. Plain and simple. Surprised this is a Japanese place because I always thought they are very hygienic people compared to other cultures. Food is jot so bad at reasonable prices. Just wished they were cleaner

I really liked the curry udon and the tempura, but they clearly forgot about my sister in law's food and we had to remind them. They were busy but the staff couldn't handle it, they ignored us and when we asked for anything they kept forgetting. The food is good but try and go off-peak if you want good service.

Generally speaking their foods are good and fair amount. However, their miso ramen is AWFUL! That is not miso ramen but miso soup noodle. Do not order their miso ramen. Awful.

As a regular at Eat Tokyo for over seven years, I'm really gutted to say that my latest experience at the Golders Green branch was so bad, it's put me off coming back. We ordered a sashimi boat, and to be honest, the quality was well below par. The salmon seemed to be a cheap cut from the tail, making it really chewy. The seabass still had blood in it. Also, the boat was sticky. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly before it was brought to our table. I spoke to the manager about it, and she was quite dismissive. She kept insisting that the salmon was top-notch, but I'm not convinced. She even admitted the boat was sticky but didn't seem to think it was a big deal. It felt like she wasn't really listening to our concerns. We ended up paying and leaving most of the boat uneaten. Through all this, no one else came to check if everything was okay with our meal. Honestly, it was the worst experience I've ever had at Eat Tokyo, or any Japanese restaurant for that matter. The customer service was miles away from what you'd expect. It might seem like a small thing, but it's these kinds of issues that can gradually chip away at the reputation of Eat Tokyo.

The customer service at the restaurant was disappointing, and my bento meal took an excessively long time to arrive. We didn't feel welcomed from the start, and my order came after the next table had already left. The lack of attentiveness and slow service left us frustrated. I hope the restaurant takes these concerns seriously and improves their customer service and efficiency. Additionally, the orange juice we ordered was off, and we had to ask for a replacement.

We usually go to the other Eat Tokyo (Shabu-Shabu) branch around the corner and thought the food and service would be comparable as I had previously visited this branch about a year ago. The older female manager was rude from the moment we walked in, insisting that we would not be seated until all members of the party were present (which in itself is a stupid rule) and that there would be a maximum time of 1.5hrs at the table, although the restaurant was at about 30% capacity... Food was okay but still nowhere near as good as the other branch. Sushi and sashimi were sliced rediculously thin. However, the service is really where this place lets itself down. Nasty manager should be kicked to the kerb for her incompetence in customer service, which has now rubbed off on the rest of the customer-facing team. Please give this one a miss; just walk 50 metres to the other branch. Edit: Spoke to a family friend who also had a bad experience here recently, she said the food was okay but again, the older manager was an 'A-hole'.
