I liked the lunch option of grilled mackerel with miso soup and perfectly steamed short grain rice, which I enjoyed with Teriyaki stirred fried veggies. I was also pleased with the green tea.

Very good and affordable food. Will definitely visit again. We were very pleasantly surprised with the food and the service quality and reasonable prices. No wonder the place is always packed. I'd recommend you booked a table if you plan on visiting

If you haven’t been to this spot, I highly recommend to if you love East Asian cuisine. Service is exceptional from the minute you walk in right through till you leave. Food is amazing. Between two of us we had 7 different dishes and honestly could not fault any. Every dish is packed with so much flavour and tastes fresh. Portions are generous and priced really fair. Definitely going to be a usual spot.

Yes you will have to queue out the door for a table even if you've booked - it is that popular but it is totally worth it. We get takeaway sushi from here on a regular basis but do occasionally go in for the hot food, which is equally good. Every dish we've tried has been excellent and incredibly good value.

Wow where can I start , I took my daughter her for her 11th birthday meal. We haven’t actually been to a Japanese restaurant before I’m soo glad we decided to take her here. Food was absolutely delicious, all the lovely staff were very attentive, giving us a warm welcome. They even came out with an ice cream with a candle on it and sang happy birthday to our daughter. The whole restaurant sang along too! Such lovely people and atmosphere! We ordered the mixed bento boxes, crispy chicken dumplings. Food was deliciously hot and spot on. Thank you soo much everyone at Eat Tokyo we definitely will be back 💫☺️

After been left standing for 20 minutes while a table was available and to be then told I can have it for 30 minutes .I am disabled and stood with a walking cane while others in bigger groups where seated.why leave me standing in pain to tell me 20 minutes later I can have the table I said was empty in the first place.i was a regular customer and dont think being spoken to the way I was was fair at all.shoking behaviour.

We had the best experience here in golders green compared to the ones in Central London .There was this amazing waitress named Emily was really nice definitely the best waitress of all time and it was my daughter's birthday and the lit the cake and it was amazing. Thank you so much. 100% recommend this branch and restaurant.

Wish I have the option to rate them none star instead of one. Never go there if you only want some nibbles in the afternoon or if you only want a main without starter, as they will rudely refuse to serve you.

Average food quality and service. No 'atmosphere' at all. The 'lady' manageress (?) was not particularly welcoming. They seem more interested in preparing and delivering take-aways than looking after their customers. We did not feel like being in a Japanese restaurant environment - we have lived in Japan by the way. Staff should smile more. However we did appreciate the young Japanese male waiter and his attention.

Rare authentic Japanese food in the heart of London. Our party was satisfied with the breadth and quality of the food choices. The curry was delicious though we expected a bit more variety in ingredients. The sashimi rice was delicious as well. The service was quite slow. Prices are quite reasonable.

When I saw chefs smoking and using their mobile phones outside their place in china town I never returned. Some people have absolutely no idea why they are asked to use hand gloves in the first place. It’s for hygiene guys. Plain and simple. Surprised this is a Japanese place because I always thought they are very hygienic people compared to other cultures. Food is jot so bad at reasonable prices. Just wished they were cleaner

I really liked the curry udon and the tempura, but they clearly forgot about my sister in law's food and we had to remind them. They were busy but the staff couldn't handle it, they ignored us and when we asked for anything they kept forgetting. The food is good but try and go off-peak if you want good service.

Generally speaking their foods are good and fair amount. However, their miso ramen is AWFUL! That is not miso ramen but miso soup noodle. Do not order their miso ramen. Awful.

As a regular at Eat Tokyo for over seven years, I'm really gutted to say that my latest experience at the Golders Green branch was so bad, it's put me off coming back. We ordered a sashimi boat, and to be honest, the quality was well below par. The salmon seemed to be a cheap cut from the tail, making it really chewy. The seabass still had blood in it. Also, the boat was sticky. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly before it was brought to our table. I spoke to the manager about it, and she was quite dismissive. She kept insisting that the salmon was top-notch, but I'm not convinced. She even admitted the boat was sticky but didn't seem to think it was a big deal. It felt like she wasn't really listening to our concerns. We ended up paying and leaving most of the boat uneaten. Through all this, no one else came to check if everything was okay with our meal. Honestly, it was the worst experience I've ever had at Eat Tokyo, or any Japanese restaurant for that matter. The customer service was miles away from what you'd expect. It might seem like a small thing, but it's these kinds of issues that can gradually chip away at the reputation of Eat Tokyo.

My ultimate favourite Japanese restaurant in London !! Amazing food and great prices. Advice: book in advance if you don’t wish to queue.

The customer service at the restaurant was disappointing, and my bento meal took an excessively long time to arrive. We didn't feel welcomed from the start, and my order came after the next table had already left. The lack of attentiveness and slow service left us frustrated. I hope the restaurant takes these concerns seriously and improves their customer service and efficiency. Additionally, the orange juice we ordered was off, and we had to ask for a replacement.

the best Japanese in North London

We usually go to the other Eat Tokyo (Shabu-Shabu) branch around the corner and thought the food and service would be comparable as I had previously visited this branch about a year ago. The older female manager was rude from the moment we walked in, insisting that we would not be seated until all members of the party were present (which in itself is a stupid rule) and that there would be a maximum time of 1.5hrs at the table, although the restaurant was at about 30% capacity... Food was okay but still nowhere near as good as the other branch. Sushi and sashimi were sliced rediculously thin. However, the service is really where this place lets itself down. Nasty manager should be kicked to the kerb for her incompetence in customer service, which has now rubbed off on the rest of the customer-facing team. Please give this one a miss; just walk 50 metres to the other branch. Edit: Spoke to a family friend who also had a bad experience here recently, she said the food was okay but again, the older manager was an 'A-hole'.

Save yourself the same disappointment we had. - Wait staff could care less about you. - Kitchen has 500 things in the menu but can’t make any accommodations. - Food comes at random times so you can’t actually eat together without cold food - All I ended up with was a mass of stuck together noodles and overcooked seafood 🤷‍♂️ - When you’re done you have to wait and wait and eventually get up to go ask for your check. 100% regret

I usually am the biggest fan of eat tokyo and would definitely call myself a regular. Exceptionally, I ordered from this branch instead of the G2 Shabu-Shabu branch. The difference in quality is frankly shocking. My favourite roll (Tokyo Dragon) was rendered completely bland and unchewable. The Katsu Jyu was practically inedible. The rice was also over cooked. I will most likely never return to this branch.

Best budget Japanese food in the UK! Considering the high price points for food in London this place breaks all the normalities, a huge plate of katsu curry for 9.90 is amazing compared to other places up north for worse quality and definitely smaller quantity. The sushi was of good quality and drinks were very unique with a nice touch of Japan

We were the first group entering to the restaurant but they let us wait for 1 hr until the foods come. The food quality also not good as another branch beside (Goldersgreen branch) which is much much better. I don’t know how “Eat Tokyo” set their standards so different. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Extremely disappointed with the service. I walked into the restaurant with 2 friends and we asked for a table for 4. My husband was just parking the car around the corner. We were told it is a small restaurant and they will not give us a table until all of us are there and were told to wait outside. Although we love eat Tokyo we walked away as this is disgraceful and against our principles of good customer service. Will never visit this branch again and the head office should re-think how service like this is damaging their reputation.

The best Japanese place to eat and based in Golders Green though Eat Tokyo has many central London locations Eat Tokyo has such a wide variety of Japanese food. The menu is so large its like flicking through an Argos catalogue. Sashimi Toro is excellent and if you can, order the sashimi boat. For those of you that do not know, Toro is the term for the fatty part of the tuna, found in the belly portion of the fish. Especially prized by sushi chefs. Pink to white in color with a rich, buttery taste... Devine :) I leave a 5 star review. But a very bad incident happened to me in October 2022. It's such a shame as the senior Mangeress is absolutely the most elegant, well spoken gentle person that the staff should emulate. This incident is provided for management of Eat tokyo: I called for an order, and asked the total of the bill. I then decided that I may want to add items to the order and said three times on the call that I would call back if I want to place the order. I didn't give my number or address. I then decided that I didnt want to drive to eat Tokyo so opted for Uber eats instead. I put the order through on the app. Shockingly, the same lady then called me back, not to thank me for my order but called me back and started harrasing me to say that I had no right to order through the app and that I should have called her back. I asked if she had put the order through from my phone call? Ofcourse I didnt she said. So why are you calling me? Just to argue with me. Again she said I should have called her back and not ordered through app and started arguing with me. I asked her name, and she said she didn't have to give me her name and she would not give me her name and hanged the phone up on me. I called back demanding her name and a man said "just cancel the order"... I am a customer and have not done anything wrong. I then found out her name was AKO that called me. BTW I can't cancel the order on Uber eats once I place it. This incident is provided for management of EAT Tokyo.

Went here on a Saturday 12pm, quite empty! Food was delicious, even better than the soho branch, the ingredients were fresh. Service was very quick and polite. We ordered so much food and the bill only came to £50.

Hands down the best casual Japanese restaurant in London. Under £10 for a massive double portion of pork katsu curry which is enough for two and £5 a pint of Asahi in 2023 is incredible. Sushi is very decent as well.

Disgusting old tuna that smelled awful and was not even edible. Could not chew it. Bones in the sushi. Katsu half raw and black. I guess we went in an off night.

We would like to complain for the reception staff, who claimed that she was the shop manager. We booked a table at 6pm, and there was a empty table. She rejected to give the table to us with bad attitude, and she insisted to give the table to someone reserved at 6:30pm with bad attitude, and ask us to leave. We will never go to this restaurant again due to her bad attitude.

Food is good and reasonably priced as sushi goes, but we will not be returning. The service is rude, and we were made to feel unwelcome when we tried to add a dish to our order, being told rather snappily that "we have a 90 minute limit" uh we'd only been there 20 minutes so what's with the attitude. Such a shame.

We booked a table for three. I arrived first and the waitress ask me to wait until both of my friends arrive. So we had a reservation and I arrived but I can’t go in. The restaurant was empty and I was tired so I was trying to sit in an empty seat. But the owner says no I can’t sit and wait even the restaurant is empty and we had reservation. The food can be good but the owner wasn’t friendly at all.

We were served by friendly staff. Very limited spaces and a slow moving que however. It was quite hectic as the staff had to handle eat-in customers alongside a continuous flow of delivery collections- I recommend you to come here during off peak hours. Food was delicious however portion sizes especially bean sprouts could be massively improved as we were only given a small spoonful of it. Decent for the price.

I dined with a group of six friends, three of us are strict vegetarians. We specifically ordered vegetarian dishes, including sushi. When our food arrived at the table, we were disheartened to find that the meat and vegetable dishes had been mixed together on the same plates. This not only compromised the integrity of our vegetarian selections but also raised concerns about cross-contamination. We politely informed the waitress we believed to be the manager (who happened to be the only waitress dressed in a kimono) to ask for a fresh batch of sushi to ensure there was no cross-contamination and be placed on separate plates. She was really annoyed at us and said that we didn't request for the veggie dishes to be separately served (even though we ordered those dishes separately!). After some back-and-forth conversation and rudeness from her, she finally agreed to bring us new dishes. But what comes after that was an alarming display of disregard for our dietary needs. Instead of preparing a new batch of sushi, the manager simply took the existing sushi behind the counter and proceeded to rearrange the veggie sushi onto another plate. This is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to vegetarians. This is unlike any experience that I've had at other Japanese restaurants.

My favourite chain in London. Great food and amazing value. I haven't come across anywhere in London comparable to Eat Tokyo for Japanese food. The sushi is always incredibly fresh and good quality cuts and the extensive menu across board is great. Don't miss the sushi bento or kaarage!
