Nimmi in Breckland

This was my first visit to Nimmi. It was lovely to see a menu that is different to the usual offerings from Indian restaurants. It was really hard to choose because of the excellent and interesting range of dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff were lovely. Friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. It is permanently closed (look it up online) and orders are being fulfilled by another restaurant (confirmed by the delivery driver). There is only a mobile number to contact regarding your order and the person who answered isn't at the restaurant, not helpful and blocks numbers so they don't have to deal with the issue. I ordered over £150 worth of food for an 18th birthday meal, everything arrived cold due to being over an hour late. This business needs to be removed from Just Eat. Oh and if you have a problem with the order, Just Eat won't do much to help. Definitely avoid this place.

Lovely main course. The garlic Nan was light and fluffy. And they very kindly returned the jacket I left behind to my hotel. Definitely go again.

Although we'd booked online well in advance, we found that the restaurant was closed and they hadn't bothered to tell us. A sign on the door stated that it was closed for a week for refurbishment, but with no indication as to when the week had started or would finish, so it looks as though in reality the closure may be permanent.

Working away in Thetford and ordered food from here to be delivered. Not sure if it was because I was hungry but this was one of the tastiest curries I have had in a long time. Had I been in the restaurant I would definitely have tipped as it was paid on a work credit card I couldnt sadly so thought the next best thing would be to write a review.

I was took here for my birthday meal on a Sunday and we all enjoyed the Sunday buffet, it was plentiful and flavoursome and good value for money.We had a takeaway on the 11th March … it was excellent… tender lamb and chicken and the king prawns were cooked to perfection! Large portion size and excellent flavours… my salad I requested was fresh . A really good experience either way ..eat in or takeaway.

Every dish we had was absolutely banging. Just enough spice to not have it ruined as the flavours we’re impeccable. The lamb sandal, the rezala and the sag paneer were amazing. Thanks Folks

Returning to Hertfordshire from Norwich on a particularly stormy night that kept the car wipers working overtime, on reading Trip Advisor reports of restaurants in Thetford, we decided to make a diversion into the town from the A11. We were particularly impressed with the reviews of Nimmis and with heavy rain still pouring down were delighted to see we could park right outside the door of this tastefully furnished Indian restaurant. It was just after the opening time of 6pm and we were shown to our seats by the nephew of the owner Ashraf. The choices of fine Asian food was extensive and with no other diners around so early in the evning, the staff took great pleasure in explaining the various dishes on offer. The medium curries were beautifully prepared with lots of flavour and the cost very reasonable. I had Chicken Korai, my partner a special Kashmiri recipe of marinated Chicken Tikka Passanda, cooked with almonds and coconuts in a rich creamy sauce with spices and herbs. Ashraf's son, a conveyancing solicitor, arrived to be able to help his father when the majority of diners arrived later in the evening. The rain was still teeming down as we left but the good food and camaraderie we experienced made the rest of the journey home a much more tolerable undertaking.

Food was amazing and delivered on time to our cabin in Forest Holidays by a lovely, polite driver. What a find, it was our anniversary tonight and this was a great choice of restaurant. Tarka Daal was smokey and rich, King Prawn tasty and well cooked, Salmon Tikka - generous portion and beautifully charred. Even the naan and onion bhajis were good - and we are from London where there are lots of Indian restaurants within 2 miles of our home. Would recommend.

What a fabulous restaurant the food was amazing , best chicken in a meal ever , everything was wonderful , beautiful spotless restaurant very smart staff and the owner was lovely . I am happy my partner is able to go regularly . I hope to return but please everyone give this place a try the Gentleman has been there 30 years and needs some support after the last few tough years

Clean restaurant with air con being a great advantage in the warmer weather. Pleasant,friendly staff,good service and good food,dishes are generous ,plenty of meat and prawns in them.

Thanks to Ashraf and the entire Nimmi staff for another dining experience. I had saag chicken. My husband chicken naga. Lovely place and we felt very comfortable without masks. I am glad that this facility and most in Thetford made it through the initial days of the pandemic. We shall return.

The food is great, but twice in 3 weeks (2 orders) the delivery was really late with no update from the restaurant until I chased them. So next time I think I’ll try somewhere else.

They delivered to the wrong house. I contacted them 20 minutes later to be told they will make another meal in 15 minutes. It's now almost 50 minutes and no sign of food. This is my 2nd late delivery. It's a shame as the food is good but not delivery time.

Awful , cold and the grease flowed heavily into the sink immediately. The sag paneer was just slop and sorry but I did order chips from an Indian and I should’ve known better as that was also a waste of money As they looked like they were cooked last week. Please take my words on board people As they didn’t.

Visiting the area, fancied a curry out, this place came up and thought we would give it a go. Easy to book online with text confirmation. Food was lovely, all 4 of us complimented the dishes. Great service

The food was cold. It wasn't even warm. The chips were freezing too couldn't even eat them. The bajis were very greasey not nice at all and cold.

The delivery as lot was 6:40-7:00pm and the food arrived at 7:15pm. Onion bhajis were stale and so were the popadums.

Over and hour late, No update on where food was or why it was late after ringing twice. However delivery man very polite and food was great!

Great food but had a bad experience with the driver. I live in a block of flats, answered my doorbell right away when he rang and asked him to wait while I came downstairs. Was as fast as I could be - literally a minute or so - and when I arrived at the door the driver was loudly banging on it shouting "hello????", incredibly rudely. I said there was no need for that and he told me he'd been waiting ages - he really hadn't - and he had someone waiting in his car. Also gave me someone else's order.

It would have been a Six star rating, but the Nan bread was not up to its usual standard as it looked as though it had been re heated, it was a bit dry. Ready of food was was very nice.

Rang several times but was told they were too busy, then told the delivery was on its way 45mins later no food, when it did arrive the food was very cold!

Along with two friends we visited Nimmi whilst staying for a few days in Thetford. We had perhaps one of the best meals for a long time. Everything about the restaurant was superb. The food delicious, the staff very helpful and very smart. The premises were spotless. Would we go again? You bet.

Best Indian food around!!!! Always on time, and friendly service..

The food was poor quality. It was VERY oily. The vegetable curry was mainly just flavoured oil with 2 bits of potato and then the rest of the veg was so small it appeared that it came out of a jar of pre-prepared veg. The biriyani lacked flavour and the Bhuna sauce tasted generic. Shame, as we were really looking forward to it and in the past this has been the best Indian in Thetford.

Early Sunday evening we ate a very great meal of 3 different types of chicken curry with 3 different Nan breads … this was more than sufficient for a light meal … we took a small bag of leftovers home … service was friendly & attentive… recommended
