Previously ate here several times and it was fine. This time arrived very hungry and received a poor portion of fish. After eating half the fish discovered the last 1/4 of the batter contained no fish. I had eaten what I had so just told the server that it was a disappointed with the fish, the server offered another portion but I had to go and said I just wanted to let them know. The owner came over and was exceptionally rude. Certainly won't ever visit this place again.

We ate here as a family of four, place was ok, nothing special 'just a cafe/chippie', had to pick different food three times as they did not have what two of us wanted, was told they stopped serving breakfasts at two and it was only 1:40pm??. Food was ok, portions also ok. I would say that the one thing that let the place down was the staff behind the counter, didn't seem interested in the customers, which should be their priority in the service industry... Quite pricey for what it was, I'm sure there are better to be had in Fort Wiliam.

Stopped here last Friday, passing through Fort William and looking for somewhere to eat. We ordered 1 fish and chips and 1 steak and kidney pie and chips and sat in to eat them. The batter on the fish was horrible, grey looking and soggy. The pastry on the pie was soggy. The chips were so dry and tasted of cheap cooking oil. Needed a lot of salt and vinegar to make them edible. Small salad served with food was ok. So disappointing.

Think of an old Fashioned chip shop from the 70's in its decor, service and smell and on the plate! This place is like going back in time and traditional in its approach and is reminiscent of seaside eateries of a bygone era. It does what it says on the tin. Cheap plain no frills basic food.

I visited Nico's after a weekend of hiking in the Scottish Highlands. I was very hungry and ordered cod and chips. Chips were good, fish was good and I was full afterwards. It cost around £5.50 I think. I got talking to the owner afterwards, Josh as I guessed he was Indian and I love Indian food. He's from Pakistan and is running the shop the last 27 years. We got talking about different Indian dishes and he said Indian food is easy, first yiu have to make the Masala, then yiu can add what ever you like to it. I quickly grabbed a pen and his order book from the counter and starting writing down as he was calling out the ingredients. I made a Chana Masala lastnight and it was lovely, I was loving the aroma coming from the saucepan as I let it simmer I could smell it all over the house for the rest of the night. Thanks for feeding me and giving me a new recipe of my favourite food. Paul

Perhaps visiting a cheap and cheerful fish and chip shop is hit and miss, because I cannot see that the previous poor reviews of this place are justified. The decor is tired and a bit tatty but the quality of the fish and chips was good. The haddock was tasty in a light batter. The chips were excellent, crisp and not too fatty. Surly disinterested staff , nothing was freshly cooked , the fish was taken out of the heater and refried , the black pudding which had obvioulsy been cooked before was MICROWAVED then placed into the fryer for a few seconds , the chips were absolutely awful and the whole thing was inedible , everything went into the bin, the whole lot . We didn’t sit in to eat but noted the cafe area to be quite cold and not particularly welcoming. The fish was tasty and fresh, the batter was not very crisp though. I strongly advise any tourist to avoid this fish and chip shop if looking for a takeaway. Was here in middle of august looking to have some food for dinner and the wait was atrocious. Almost 35-mins to wait for our fish and chips to be served and we were taking out. They prioritise the people eating inside and forget about those waiting to take their food away. Staff do not look like they know any english to communicate at all and can not even bother to crack a smile. If honest, its like they are working in a morgue.Furthermore the food was not the best and just seemed really oily and greasy and not like the traditional fish and chips you would find in a proper takeaway. Would have preferred to gone to the Weatherspoons on the same night which we did the next day. Recommend Nico's staff/owners to pay a visit to see how customer service is given and how proper food is made. Will be going again back in December for new years and making sure we steer clear of this place.

Had lunch here, just the chips, but they were cooked in vegetable oil and tasted great. You can eat in or take away, whichever suits you, although there is a small extra charge for staying inside.

Very good service and meals that were great value for money. "Nico's Special" with bread and butter and drink included was a bargain.

I was in Fort William at the same time 12 months ago and made a point of returning as it was good value at the same price too! Again, I chose the haddock, chips, peas, salad, bread and butter and mug of tea, all for just £7.95. There is a wide selection on the menu with plenty of seating as well as take-away option. The food is freshly cooked and I'm pleased to say the chips are freshly cut potatoes, not frozen as more places wrongly choose nowadays.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. Frozen chips deep fried, stale bread and rude staff. We stopped here after a long journey and wish we had trusted or instincts and left as soon as we entered. We did however leave around 5 mins after the food arrived. Cheap freezer food absolutely disgusting especially for the price. Avoid.

Never have I met more ignorant staff! Don't speak English and tried to short change me! Tiny portions and terribly greasy could only eat half of it! Really expensive too! Stay away!!! Wish I did!

You can either take away or dine in. It has from fish and chips to pizzas and pies. I had fish fingers and chips. It was nice.

A very clean restaurant and some of the best fish and chips I have had.We ate in and although it looks more like a cafe the staff were friendly and food cooked for you so piping hot.

Stopped off on the way to Skye, a hour walk about to streach legs and eat a snack.Firstly, the place stank of burning oil/fat/lard,asking for a large bag and a small bag of chips I was snapped at saying "we only one size" OK we'll take 2 bags of chips please, they take the money and give us a cloackroom ticket, the smell was just to strong for my daughter that we stood outside till our number was called, the older lady dished the chips out with one hand and placed the 2 container on the frying counter in all the oil, placed them on the serving counter and when we picked them up we got all oily, asking for a tissue or a serviet, we were answerd back in a most load and arrogant POLISH language, we just left to avoid any confrontation.Would never go back there. How on earth people said the fish and chips were good is way beyond my beleif, greasy, undercooked chips, the bin outside was full and my daughter noticed how many containers with chips were in it,so it must be a general thing o people throwing them away.I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE EVER AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RECCOMEND.

Seems like this place has changed the name a few times. Ramo's is off the sign. Doesn't matter. We had delicious fish and chips, condiments, and sat along the canal and enjoyed our meal. Perfect, and 8 British pounds cheaper than others there.

Stay away from from this place I went with my partner and the minute we walked in the restaurant was cold and I had to wear my jacket the full time I was in. The food was tasteless, I have had a better microwave Indian out of Iceland and it came to a whopping £85. Also we asked for one rice and we felt that the owner talked us into getting 2 because they were “small” they definitely were not small one would have been enough for 2 people money grabbing we felt.

Slow. Nasty and tasteless. Avoid with every being of your heart. The one down by the river is much better I can't recall the name but far tastier.
