Had a afternoon tea voucher to spend here, got a call to say they have sold the business and to come with the voucher and collect my afternoon as they finished at 4pm I asked the owner if I could just have my money returned of 25.00, he was really aggressive and said no I don’t what to give you the money, his wife just walked away and his daughter I think was having her say as well. I was disgusted with there attitude to me I have been in there numerous times, if anyone else has vouchers unused you have till 4pm today 27 nov to get your afternoon tea angry horrible people they are, hope they don’t have a good retirement

Visited on 16th November for a baby shower. The food is all home baked and is amazing. The corned beef pie was my favourite and I brought some home for my partner who loved it too. Lots of choice and very reasonable price. I’d definitely recommend for any function or even just to pop in for a lunch - beautiful place with wonderful staff.

Wow- amazing afternoon spent in Nicola’s for Mam’s Birthday. You actually choose your own package for the afternoon tea rather than be presented with some small bits that you may not like. Choice of sandwich, pie or quiche, savoury or sweet scone and a choice from the vast array of cakes - along with unlimited tea or filter coffee. All for £13.50 per person- what a bargain. It was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. The staff are attentive and keep your drink topped up. Certainly be back really soon- just one problem, what to choose.

From beginning to the end of our afternoon tea service was excellent and staff so friendly. The afternoon tea was amazing. Really liked that you could choose your sandwich, pie or quiche (homemade), and a piece of homemade cake. Lots of choice. Free refills too on tea and coffee. First time here and it won’t be the last.

We stopped in for lunch, lured by the good reviews, and were certainly not disappointed. My wife ordered the tuna melt toastie, and mine was the bacon and brie toastie. Each was served open-face on a thick slice of homemade bread accompanied by roast potato wedges and an elegant little balsamic-dressed salad. We were surprised (pleasantly) by the open-face style, and with the very thick slice of bread we chose to eat the toasties with knife and fork. The only disappointment (if you could call it that) was that the plates were so substantial that there was no room left to try the marvelous looking cakes. Another time. I must also mention the staff were delightfully friendly and helpful, and the premises beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We are not often in Sunderland, but will certainly return to Nicola's whenever we can.

My friend and I visit most weeks for the delicious scones, and a very friendly welcome. Cakes and pies all look lush but we still stick to the various home made scones which are always wholesome and fresh. A lovely touch with this little cafe is when you have a hot drink you get a little home made shortbread biscuit with it just enough.

Brought my Mam here for the first time and we had a really lovely lunch. The quiche was amazing and the coffee really nice. We were so tempted by the beautiful cakes that we got some to take away. So nice to have a place like this on our doorstep as there is nowhere like this close by to get nice cakes and coffee.

Open from 8.30 for breakfast (which I'll be back for), but the cakes and scones all home made on the premises were amazing you were spoilt for choice, coffee and fruit tea delicious and a lovely piece of shortbread to go with it. Absolutely delicious can't wait to go back.

What a lovely little cafe this is a bit snug but scones are super, and their cakes and pies really look lovely, service both efficient and very friendly, nice touch that they always offer a pot of water along with my black tea, usually have to ask in other places. Everything baked by a lovely gentleman who brings your food to the table. Another nice touch is a small home baked shortbread with your tea or coffee, delicious

Visited last week and was hugely impressed. There's a good range of quiches and pies and the selection of cakes is amazing. Everything appears to be homemade, the tea room is clean fresh and beautifully decorated in a vintage style. Had a quick look at the menu and there's a great choice of things other than quiche although that is our favourite, and it is actually difficult to find a good quiche that is not too eggy, bland, or thick undercooked pastry. The waitress was lovely and went out of her way to make us welcome. We loved everthing we had and can't wait to go back and try more.
