Nick's Restaurant in Bolton

We visit Nicks regular and it’s just superb, we are so lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep. We visited this month on St Patrick’s night with live music and a special menu as well as the main menu, we will go so far to say we had the most beautifully cooked cod with a sauce to die for and mussels and other pieces of fish in the dish, truly stunning dish served with delicious new potatoes and veg, not many restaurants you get a plate of food like this. I love how you don’t have to order all your sides separately, you order a meal and you get a meal. Superb service by Tanya and the team as always. Really enjoying the theme nights on Thursdays too, French last month which was fab.

First time at Nicks restaurant on chorley new road, not disappointed, beautifully done, food superb, staff very attentive & all with a smile. Crispy duck salad starter was amazing as was the sea bass main course . Lovely that Nick still comes into the restaurant after a busy service to ensure all his guests are happy . Will be back

Another great night at Nicks with Tanya and the team ensuring everything was spot on. Friendly and attentive service and the food was excellent. The crab and crayfish ravioli is superb. Mains were mainly fish and steaks and everyone was delighted with their choice. We will return in the not too distant future. Highly recommended for anyone who wants delicious food in a pleasant environment

Lovely friendly restaurant serving smashing food at reasonable prices. Portion sizes are spot on. Like the fact that tables are well spaced so you have a bit of privacy. What more could you want?

Good menu, lovely staff but some small details lacking. Eg blown lightbulb in the dining room. A heavy hand with the salt in the hake sauce. But for Bolton this place is exceptional

We dine at Nicks regular or as much as we can as it’s just superb. We had our Christmas Day lunch there and it was just perfect, great ambience, stunning service as always by Tanya and the team and delicious food. I urge anyone to dine here, delicious food and price’s really reasonable and a great wine selection.

Once we had found the restaurant (Uber has the old restaurant address) we found a very nice environment, with a really good ambience. The food and service was very good as were the wines and after lunch drinks. All in all a very good experience, great staff and we met and chatted with Nick, the owner, whic is always a nice touch when the owner wants to understand how your experience went in his restaurant. Thoroughly recommended. Good quality, reasonable price

What a great restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Portion sizes are generous. Starter, mains and dessert were fantastic. Opted for a fillet steak for a main meal. Cooked to perfection. And Nick is a great chap as well. Looking forward to another meal with them.

Visited Nick’s today with 5 friends for lunch. We all chose different meals except two of us that had the 2-course lunch menu. One lady is vegan and was given her own vegan menu to chose from - which was brilliant! Between us we had a variety of food from gorgeous pea soup, seafood paella to teriyaki tofu and everything in between! Drinks were brought in a timely manner and the service was excellent! Coffee followed - and it was good! As an aside, a number of us visited the Ladies and we all commented about the cleanliness of it. The whole restaurant was spotless and the decor beautiful. Extremely tasteful music, at a suitable volume was playing throughout our visit. But the absolute star of the show was the food!!! We all agreed it was the best we’ve had anywhere!! All reasonably priced too and generous portions. We will DEFINITELY be returning!!!

First time we had been since they moved to Horwich, why it took us so long I do not know. Place very smart ,young man who looked after us was pleasant and attentive. Food was excellent. My granddaughter, aged 2, was with us and they served her quickly to keep her happy. My only criticism was that they could have done with two staff out front rather than the one . He was rushing about trying to clean tables, serve meals and make coffees. It let the whole experience down.

We don’t usually go this often but because we had a wedding anniversary and friends coming from Blackpool which we couldn’t align we chose the two visits. On both occasions we couldn’t fault anything and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole events. If you haven’t been here then it’s time you you had. We are going again in December. Can’t wait.

Nicks has relocated to Horwich which is fantastic news for the town. Finally we have a destination top restaurant available to us, top class food, wide choice of menu, all freshly cooked, super efficient and friendly staff with a fabulous atmosphere.

We usually reserve nicks for the speak occasions so I suppose this return after lockdown was special. He had a limited menu all on the big blackboard. Everything looked good so it was hard to choose. For starters we went for tandouri chicken and king prawn followed by hake and sea bass. We finished with bread and butter pudding and Creme broulle. Everything was absolutely delicious . Can't wait to go again. As numbers are limited to the covid setup you will need to book ahead. Enjoy.

We had a great dinner with friends here last night. Thankfully my go to choice wasn't on the specials menu, so I as forced to be a tad more adventurous and I am grateful for that as I had Cod. Absolutely delicious. Accommodated my allergy, and it was totally scrumptious. The whole party thoroughly enjoyed their choices too. The service was great from start to finish. Thoroughly recommend.

I realised Valentine's Day was coming up so thought where can I take my dear wife. Where else but Nicks. It's nice and intimate. The staff are wonderfully friendly. The menu is great. The food fabulous. We had a lovely evening and can't wait to go again. Why wait for a special excuse.

Myself and everyone who has ever been here absolutely loves this restaurant. The food here is fantastic beyond compare and the fish in particular, the quality and taste is unmatched. Absolutely fantastic restaurant and not a single person who has been here has come away thinking anything less than utterly amazing food. Cant recommend enough and encourage everyone to visit.

A lovely Christmas Eve evening meal with family. The restaurant is small (booking essential), with a homely but lively feel (ask for an upstairs table if you like it a bit quieter). As usual, there was a fabulous choice of Blackboard Specials (Nick is happy to make small tweaks). The crispy duck salad and the scallops (a favourite) were a hit. The dover sole and halibut mains (best to order these in advance) also went down well. Al-dente veggies were served in generous portions, ensuring a balanced meal. Not a huge wine selection, but enough to find something to match most dishes and palates. Our favourite wine was sold out on this occasion, but we really enjoyed our second choice. The staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful - Nick himself always tries to make time to talk to his guests. There really was nothing to fault – if I was to be picky, the Christmas table decorations were pretty much non-existent. Yes, this is pricier than some other places, but you get what you pay for - good quality fresh ingredients, prepared to perfection, with a great vibe. We have never been disappointed here and would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion.

Extremely disappointing Christmas day meal, had been looking forward to it since July.To start the upstairs rooms were cold, then the starters what can I say, my smoked salmon and so called Greenland prawns, the salmon was nice but the prawns were tiny and in some horrible sauce, my fellas scallops were cold.The main course veg was hardly cooked and also cold, the roast potatoes were not really roasted, gravy was not very nice, the only that was hot was the Turkey.His lamb was he said was nicely cooked.The table presentation was none existent.For £85 per person I expected great food and nicely presented tables.Food used to be great here but this has put me off for life.Will not be returning ever.

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary by booking a lunchtime meal at Nick's on Sunday 15th December. This was our first visit on a recommendation from a friend.We enjoyed a lovely meal beautifully presented. We were even asked how we would like our duck and lamb cooked. I have lived in Bolton for nearly 6 years and have driven past it many times not realising it was there I had heard many good things about Nick's I now know they are true, the service, the food was all wonderful, Nick's is a intimate restaurant and that adds to it will definitely be going again

After visiting Nicks on various occasions over the years we had a meal on Wednesday last week which was outstanding ( Steak night). We decided to try a Sunday roast yesterday as we have never tried this before. All I can say is that the quality of the sirloin served and how it was cooked to your preference could not be faulted. Everything that accompanied the meal was equally as good. Have never had any complaints with any visit here but really enjoyed the Sunday roast, and will definitely be back as soon as possible. Compliments to the chef from all parties on every occasion.

Booked for last night as it was my wife’s birthday and as always we weren’t disappointed. The welcome was cheery, the atmosphere quiet at first as we the only ones in so early. Mind you it soon got busy and the atmosphere soon was great. The order was made from a great selection on the board and arrived quite quickly for every course. Needless to say we cleared every scrap. Delicious as ever that’s why we choose it for our special nights out. We’ve booked again for our anniversary in October. Looking forward already.

10/10 we drove past this place as it’s hard to see but got out and walked back, so glad we did! They squeezed us in without a booking. I had the soup of the day and the lamb rack both were unbelievable. My partner had the stuffed chicken it was so moist and tender. Can’t rate this restaurant highly enough.

Had the Docherty family at one of Nick’s cookery classes today - magnificent, fantastic and all the other superlatives can be added! A full 4 hours worth of watching, learning and tasting with a great teacher and chef! Never disappointed with Nicks - never! Thanks Nick for a great day worth every penny - we will be back!

We were celebrating a special occasion and from the reviews I had read, I selected Nicks as the place to celebrate.

We had a family meal on a Friday evening at Nick's and there is only one word for the food and restaurant, OUTSTANDING. This is my 2nd time visiting and would recommend to anyone looking for a local restaurant who uses local ingredients and cooked with care and perfection.

Just had a lovely Tapas meal (Thursday special menu) which was extremely well cooked and delicious. Was pleased that GF requirements for one of our party was fully catered for with flexibility in the menu. Fully recommended.

If anyone is short of a good idea for a present, I would thoroughly recommend Nick’s cookery class. Nick was a very good teacher and tailored the class so we could make our favourite dishes from the restaurant. Nick taught us how to make a variety of recipes and shared several hints and tips from his years of experience. A fantastic day for both my mum and myself!

One goes to a classy restaurant and discover Manchester Tart is on the menu.! The last time I's eaten that was at school (50 years ago). Coming at the end of a gorgeous meal (if you a fish fanatic, this is for you) and served by a charming waitress who could engage in conversation and be professional at the same time. Needless to say we're booked in again.

Just finished a cracking evening at Nicks. Lovely small restaurant with a great atmosphere in the restaurant. Very small - I nearly fell into the bar when I walked in - but feels great. We had scallops and prawn/crab starter follower by salmon and beef stroganoff for mains. The portion sizes are very generous so don't eat much before you go! All the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Can't fault it one bit. Not the cheapest but definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to in Bolton.

Another fantastic feed from nick, I had peach and blue cheese salad with caramelised pecan then the full lobster main., wife had melon fruit salad then a vegetarian bruschetta.

Normally when you’re offered a fixed menu at a certain price you think “meh, will it be as good as à la carte? »

One of the better restaurants in Bolton (there aren't many!) but a poor location and only street car parking. The food is fresh and good. Nick cooks the food himself and comes out to receive feedback. On the last visit my party was not served simultaneously which rather spoilt the ambience.

Returning to Bolton after 4 years away we've been trying out eateries in the town. Having read great reviews of Nick's we decided to give it a go and we're pleased we did.

Visited Nicks on Friday night after a work colleague had recommended it. It was my anniversary and wanted to treat my wife to something special and Nicks certainly delivered. From the minute we walked in we were given a warm welcome. It’s quite small but that only adds to its charm. The menu has plenty to offer to suite all tastes and the Market Menu is excellent value. My wife is quite the fussy eater but our server was more than happy to change things around to suite my wife’s tastes. The food was outstanding we didn’t have to wait long even though the restaurant seemed to be busy. The portions are extremely generous. The waiting staff kept our drinks topped up all night and always made sure we had everything we needed. This restaurant is definitely one of the finer in Bolton and we will definitely be visiting again. Many thanks to Nick and his staff keep up the great work.

Attended the restaurant with family to celebrate my daughters brithday. Had my grandson with us so was a little apprehensive, but the staff couldn’t of been better.
