We took ny husbands mother who is in a carehome & has dementia for a day out. We stopped for a drink & ice cream. I asked if they could do a small glass of milk...that they have for their milkshakes. They said they didn't have enough & to try the cafe next door, who do...milky coffee's..Latte's in posh speak, who also had no milk... We stayed & bought an ice cream anyway. My mother-in-law spilt ice cream & had it over her hands so I asked the young lady/person at the parlour counter for a wet paper towel/cloth, anyone would've thought i'd asked for a free ice cream! The older lady/person was quietly but obviously sarcasstic & rude that i'd dare ask for a wet cloth/paper towel. Absolutely agree, if they don't sell milk as part of their menu they had every right to say no, but a milkshake is.. flavoured milk. It was more about their attitude. Rude & dissrespectful

Lovely little ice cream parlour, lots of flavours and clean little area to sit outside. Young lady serving behind the till was pleasant too, all completely overshadowed by the less than helpful attitude of the other person serving behind the counter. Such a shame to ruin what would have been a really enjoyable snack otherwise.

Looks like a great ice cream place. I queued, only to see one of the counter staff be so rude and aggressive to an elderly gentleman that I left without ordering. He was very confused by all the flavours , I felt so sad about the way he was spoken to. Won’t ever return.

Four adults and one dairy intolerant child. As they had no dairy free ice-cream, we asked if we could have a little sorbet on a teaspoon for the child to try. A categoric (bordering on rude), no. We went next door to the Pancake kitchen. You lost custom Nicey Icey, mostly locals too.

“Iced’ coffee NO! If you can’t serve iced coffee that isn’t even cold- Don’t advertise it. “That’s the way it comes out of the machine” from a disinterested staff isn’t good enough. Obviously year and a half of no business hasn’t improved customer service.

We had two sugar cornet 99 today with monkey’s blood and it was fantastic. In fact my husband said it was the best ice cream he had ever had. The red sauce on the ice cream was delicious and tasted of strawberries rather than just sugar. You got a lot of ice cream for your money. The service was great if a little slow. We would certainly visit again.

I attended this morning with my 2 and a half year old who was very excited for ice cream to be welcomed with such an attitude from the lady in the shop. The doors were open and the only question I asked was if the shop were open, the look I was given was horrendous and was told she needed to get the chairs out. I replied, obviously seeing I was causing her inconvenience, that it’s fine if she’s not yet open. Again I received the reply of ‘ I JUST need to get my chairs out’ Honestly what was said was not an issue, it was the sheer attitude that came about from only asking if the shop was open. I was honestly stunned and decided to go elsewhere. I have never left a bad review before but given that I was standing there heavily pregnant with a little boy who was very excited to get his awaited for ice cream, has maddened me to this level. I will not be returning and will be voicing this feedback to others. It really doesn’t hurt to smile a little or show some decency when it comes to others.

After lunch in the beach I went for an ice cream treat. The order was chocolate ice cream in a chocolate sugar cone with a flake x2, a two scoop tub of coconut and mango and a two scoop tub with coconut and chocolate. The service was lovely. I would have struggled to carry everything to the family in the beach but I didn’t need to worry as one of the team helped by bringing the two tubs while I carried the cones and a tea.

We bought 2 ice creams here that were OK, but when I rushed back to get an empty cup as I was afraid my young son was going to drop his on the floor out the cone, they charged me 20p for it - I didn't have any change with me so it was a hassle - why couldn't they just give me an empty cup free??

My daughter had an ice cream, candy floss and birthday cake. Very nice. My wife asked for a latte. It came in a latte glass, but was very weak, more like warm flavoured water with a strange taste and smell (had the coffee machine just been cleaned out?). Seems the drinks are a bit poor here.

Popped to Seaham on a mildish winter day, fancied ice cream, and our walk took us down to the harbour. Saw a sign outside Nicey icey for coffee/hot chocolate at £1.50 each, bargain, so we popped in. What a gem of a place! Lovely latte and hot chocolate in huge cups at £1.50 each, and they were lovely. Then we spotted the ice cream - and were tempted by 2 scoops each at a bargain £2.25 for 2 scoops - mush less than some other local establishments. The ice cream was amazing, I had the chocolate which had chocolate pieces and sauce in it, plus the white chocolate with honeycomb pieces which was divine. Cost £7.50 for both of us - bargain! The staff were friendly and the place clean and tidy. Will certainly visit again.

Popped into Nicey Icey after a trip to the beach with my three kids and two nephews. Plenty of selection when it comes to to ice creams all sorts of mouth-watering flavours to choose from. Plenty of selection from ice cream cones, sundaes, tubs etc even I had trouble trying to decide what to get never mind the kids! There's a little shop inside that sells toys and buckets and spades for the beach which we also bought for our 1 year old since it was her first time at the beach a didn't have one. All prices are very reasonable and lovely decor inside. Seating is minimal but they do have some outdoor seating too but the chances are you will end up eating it out watching out into the marina especially on a nice day. Nice little shop in the right place.

Sunday was a wonderful sunny afternoon so we headed off to Seaham for a walk and of course an ice cream by the sea. The area around Nicey Icey has been developed very well indeed. It is a pleasure to walk by the marina and in the safe little cove just behind this ice cream shop. There was a full range of ice creams available at Nicey Icey and all were reasonably priced. There was a bit of a queue, but that was in fact a sign that the ice cream had a good reputation. I would certainly recommend going here again!

We took a party of school children ( aged 5 & 6 ) last month to the beach & the lifeboat museum both of which were fantastic but the highlight of our trip was our visit to Nicey Icey . We were greeted by Geoff & Judith as soon as we arrived . They made each child a special little sundae which the children absolutely loved & enjoyed every mouthful ! We sat along the steps outside in the beautiful sunshine . The adults were catered for too. This is the second year we have taken our children to Seaham & will certainly be making it an annual event . The little sandy cove is small & safe & lots of fun is guaranteed. This is a fantastic safe spot & I wouldn't hesitate to take a party of school children. They will also be made most welcome by Geoff & Judith whilst enjoying a special treat ! Our children all agreed it was " the best school trip ever !!" Lots of our children have been back to Nicey Icey with their parents . We are not local to the area but it was well worth the journey ... Roll on next year !!

I had to opportunity to try out Nicey Icey the other day and the ice cream was delicious. It's run by Mr Valente who's family have been in 'ice cream' for generations and have supplied Seaham with delicious ices since I was a kid. They have a great range of flavours from the classic to the quirky, and offer a selection of ever more elaborate sundaes alongside the more traditional cornets. The ambience of the cafe is suitably seaside themed with some nice cartoon touches to appeal to kids of all ages. It's ideally situated between the marina and 'The Slope'; a very sheltered, sandy bathing area between two piers, very popular with families. You can eat indoors, al fresco or take away. There was a very happy buzz about the place when I visited and will certainly be making it into a regular treat venue.
