Newburgh Inn in Fife

Had the carvery last Sunday. Very generous portions of meat! The sides were nice but the veg wasn't very warm and went cold quickly. Despite this I would recommend. Good atmosphere, nice staff and very reasonable prices for the portion size. Would have given a higher rating if veg was warmer.

Regularly visit the Newburgh Inn, lunch is always spot on. The Sunday carvery is 10/10, very hard pushed to find a better roast dinner than it. The Newburgh inn is perfect for traditional pub food as well as some more left field choices such as poutine and wood pigeon - all done just as well as the basics!

We had a lovely walk on the beach and wanted a coffee to warm us up. The coffee was luke warm, as was the hot chocolate. Should have just been called chocolate. We asked for a fruit scone and a millionaire shortbread. No millionaire shortbread left. OK then. A chocolate fudge. None left. OK then I'll have a fruit scone since there seems no problem with that. Sorry. Only one left. So we had to share that with our luke warm beverages. Needless to say. We will NEVER be back. Don't write reviews often. But if you'll excuse the pun. This really takes the cake.

Extremely long wait for food despite the restaurant being virtually empty. We ordered two simple dishes so should have been straightforward. A shame as a nice looking place.

Visited here on a recommendation whilst staying in the local area and so glad we did the staff were very friendly and they had an extensive menu. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy which is always a good sign. You can have the option of food from the menu or carvery. The Chef at the carvery was great and happy to have conversation with us and nothing was too much bother for him. Just over £60 for 3 course including carvery for 2 is very good value for money. If in the area then this is a must visit

Stopped whilst travelling the coastal way I the afternoon. Staff happy for us to sit in restaurant even though we were not ordering much. Moderate selection of beers on tap (thus lost one star). Would be a good place for lunch or dinner.

Sunday Carvery was terrible food was really bad hard tough meat veg potatoes all over cooked cauliflower cheese was like just mush it was a really good place once, price was not what was advertised from what we was told by waitress and increased the price on the bill also, never will I return we was sat in corner where all doors were open to outside my mother disabled frozen in a wheelchair left our plates more or less full had a big confrontation with management seems they have no idea how to treat people I paid the bill as much as I did not want to, No sympathy to disabled people I would highly recommend do not waste your time and money on this establishment When I mentioned I will review them They replied we can remove reviews So I suppose then that shows no care for anyone's welfare, Please don't make the mistake we did

the food was unreal, we went on a sunday so I had a carvery and my partner had chicken fillets in batter - excellent doesn’t cut it! service was also super friendly and lovely, very reasonable prices as well, we were £62 for 2 mains, 2 desserts, 1 side and 3 drinks!! we will 100% be back, thank you so much!

I've been twice now for food and a couple of times for a hot drink since new management has taken over and I cannot fault it. They have hit the nail on the head. I've had the curry and fajitas, both of which were brilliant - very tasty. A very good selection of menu for all meals of the day and well priced. The owners are super friendly and the staff are very accommodating. Partnering with local businesses and hosting different nights such as weekly quizzes, pensioner offers, Sunday carverys and various other events. Accomodating for child and pets is a big plus. So proud to have this as a local venue.

Very disappointed as was recommended by someone who had been in January. We all had the carvery which was served on a cold plate and everything was warm apart from the cauliflower cheese which had just been taken from the oven. It was a shame as everything tasted good just the temperature let it down. Pigs in blankets had to be ordered in a plate of 5 they were greasy and the blanket had come off them. The chef well I think a clean apron over his “whites’ would have been in order. After raising the issue with staff we were offered dessert at half price. 1 panacota great 2 Baileys mouse expecting it to be soft and fluffy was solid and heavy enough to sink the titanic. Very disappointed won’t be rushing back

Visited Newburgh Inn for lunch with husband and patents. Husband had fish and chips from the pensioners menu. It was all over cooked. Mum had the scampi and her chips were over cooked. Dad and I had the Katsu curry. We were surprised to find 3 chicken fillets with a tiny amount of sauce. All very disappointing. First time we have been disappointed with our food at the Newburgh Inn. Husband and mum had homemade sweetmince pies with their tea and said they were delicious.

Had the special, Turkey, pretty mediocre, Yorkshire pudding burnt, completely dried out. Surely this should have been obvious to anyone before it was served, Partner asked for a coke which she got but not sure we were expecting a pint o the stuff. Was seated near the bar, door open to toilet area so draughty and each time the front door was opened it was perishing especially as it closes very slowly. . I don’t write reviews but was very disappointed and meals out are too expensive not to be good.

We visited on a Saturday evening as a couple, and would not rush back. This is our second visit, as we decided to give our first poor experience the benefit of the doubt. Menu was uninspiring, and food below average, we left our main course plates more than half full. Decided to try dessert, this was also very poor. The mousse was so stodgy and bitter tasting, not light and fluffy as you would expect - this also went to waste. I heard another table complain about their food being cold. Our table was about 5 cm away from the next, we may as well of been sitting together. The staff we encountered were all very lovely, and the hotel itself was nicely decorated and had a log burner, it is such a pity the food let it down. Price does not reflect quality.

Called in for Brunch. Family of 6 plus dog. Recieved a warm welcome on arriving. Pleasant and comfortable environment. Cheekily asked for two cooked breakfast even though it was out of serving time which, the chef agreed to do. All meals were of very good quality. Outstanding service throught our meal. Even are dog was offered a bowl of water. Would highly recommend a visit!

I lunched here quite by chance and could not have been happier. I decided quickly I had to try two of the starters - a main can wait for my next visit. The scallops were perfect and the Thai fishcakes delicious. A walk along the beach at Seal Bay just down the road can also wait for my next visit.

Came for a Sunday carvery to help get rid of the remnants of a hangover. Never fails to disappoint. The roast beef and the gammon were outstanding. The only problem was that I couldn't get enough of the cheesy cabbage on my plate! I would gladly have a plate piled high with just that!

Nach dem Besuch der Seals an dem wunderschönen Strand haben wir uns einen schmackhaften Lunch im Newburgh Inn gegönnt. Es war Sonntag und das Lokal bis auf 2 Gäste, die gerade das Lokal verließen voll. Unser Glück. Die Gästen in dem Lokal waren nahezu alles Einheimische/Schotten. Der Empfang war freundlich und wir warteten nur kurze Zeit, bis unser Tisch abgeräumt war und wir den gerade freigewordenen Tisch übernehmen konnten. Wir wurden höflich darauf hingewiesen, dass die Bestellung etwas dauern könne, weil das Lokal sehr voll war. Wir waren im Urlaub und hatten alle Zeit der Welt und letztlich hatten wir nach 20 Minuten unser Essen. Das Essen war einmalig, sehr schmackhaft und in jeder Hinsicht lobenswert. Die Bedienung war freundlich, aufmerksam und trotz der hohen Arbeitsbelastung zur Mittagszeit dennoch umsichtig und geduldig.

Visited this weekend, ordered main courses for everyone on our table . Waited over an hour for our food with no apology. Everything seemed to be served with mushy peas . The tempura batter was undercooked .

We stopped here on our way back to Aberdeen and were not disappointed. Towards the higher end of the carvery price range but generous portions of meat and very well cooked and varied selection of veg ensured it was worth it. The skirlie was delicious and the gravy was superb. Would recommend.

We visited the Newburgh Inn today and used an Itison voucher. The food was lovely (fab chunky chips) and the portions were very big for a lunchtime meal. Staff were friendly and the restaurant had a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Stopped here after being to the beach. Nice place and the staff were very good. We had two children with us who were a bit restive. Ordered drinks for everybody and meals. The food took a while to come and the kids were a bit bored waiting. I was driving so had to settle for a non-alcoholic beer (this zero tolerance in Scotland is a pain!). The cost was a bit higher than expected for our drinks and meals. I had the haddock and chips - the waitress forced me to have the mushy peas (I originally asked to not have them but she told me I had to try them and got backed up by everybody else - my life is NOT my own!) - they were a bit dry (back in New Zealand I enjoy peas but they're always baby peas which are sweeter and juicier). Overall - very good, bit pricey, and the waitress gave me no respect (actually it was a nice friendly way to act) - worth going if you're out that way

great location. great potential. been here several times. always just odd and always just a bit of a disappointment. staff seem poorly trained, and no sign ever of "mine host". service hit and miss, as is food. and why do they repeatedly serve sticky toffee pudding with a burnt bottom ( the pudding,not the server). do they never try it themselves. and the total off-target package just a tad too expensive. finally the poster in the gents saying "real ale served here" is just a cruel tease. it's not.

Always visit here when in area and never had a bad meal. This time everything was great but service was very slow, they were busy but there were also several empty tables so had more people turned up it could have been a disaster. Maybe 1 extra person clearing up would help as when people on table next to us left half eaten meals were just left. We will still return later in the year when back up but if it happens again that will be it.

Popped in here for some dinner after a brief visit up to Slains Castle. The place had a very welcoming feel to it. Staff were very friendly and food very tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to return.
