New World Chinese in Thurrock

I would like to say I do enjoy the meals however there was a bug on my chip and i found it quite unsanitary,besides that everything was good 👍

Been a regular for years. However, placed my order tonight and told collection was in 20 minutes. I arrived and paid for the food and waited another 30 minutes. When I enquired about my food again, they checked the bag on the counter and it had been ready the whole time. Appalling service and no apology!

Appalling, delivery took over 90mins. Phoned twice for an updated on the delivery, told driver was on the way. When the food finally arrived 4 items out of 8 were completely spilled all over the bag. Once again phones the restaurant requesting a refund on the items spelt to be told “we don’t believe you, so no”. Conversation went round in circles. The manager was not listening and calling me a lair. Do not recommend, customers service was shocking. Will not be ordering again!

Ordered many times. Everything was always delicious, great portions and prices. Staff friendly and great. Food delicious as always.

Ordered on line waited an hour no food. Called New World to be told wait another 10 minutes. Waited another 10 minutes still no order. by this time we had realised they forgot to do our order, this is 3rd time this has happened. Called again 15 minutes later so now it’s 1hrs 25 mins as placed order at 6.18. Writing this at 7.45 still no bloody food.called again please wait another 10 minutes. Was told this time not to order on line, try ringing. This Chinese is the worst for service ever, 3 times they forgot us but quick enough to take money. People please do not use this Chinese Friday or weekends. Finally got food 1hr 40 minutes late. The food was very hot so we know they just cooked it. Be warned

Have to be in the mood for a Chinese, but when I am OH MAN, can't beat it

So we ordered from here last night as our local one is closed on Mondays. Have to say I preferred this to our local. You have gained a new customer from woodview.

Order a takeaway and told it would be a 1 hour , after 1hour 10 mins call and told it would be another 20-30 mins , not acceptable as kids waiting to be fed on Mother’s Day and need to go to bed as school next day Not happy with service

Having used New World for over 25 years, this is the third time that they have got our order wrong in a row. When you phone to complain, they are so rude back and basically lie about what was discussed. They make you feel like you owe them a thank you for being a loyal customer. Disgusting service. Avoid

The food was horrible got duck that was so dry chips that taste like they was cooked yesterday chilli beef that was Tasteless even got prawn crackers that was staw spent over £50 i will never be buying from there again

Absolutely dismal! Used this take a way for 20 years,but this is the last time, They will quote you 1hr delivery and the lie to you when you phone to enquire where it is . Totally not bothered about the lack of customer service . Doesn't deserve 1 star !

Quoted 1 hour for delivery, ordered and cancelled it after 1 hour 40 minutes. Other reviews mentioned receiving substandard food after such long waits.

Wow I don't know if this has been taken over by new people but I would never come here again man on phone is very rude and the food has gone down. Where is the lovely lady gone who always answered. And the chef must of changed. Would not use anymore rude and horrible food

Has been great but you are only as good as your last failure, and this takes the biscuit, and unfortunately one was the one that could not be tolerated. it was absolutely terrible, ordered food and over 2 hours later luke warm food arrives, this is after I called twice to be told the food is on its way I questioned at the time if the food would be hot after this amount of time, then it arrived and it wasn't hot, you could hold the metal containers in your hand with no issues, this is not normal. We have been a customer for 15 or 20 + years and tonight's customer service maybe paved the way for the future, and after being told we will give 20% off your next order, for the cold food is not acceptable, had to explain the food was rejected and sent back. I said to them we would accept food in the next 30 mins, but this was dismissed saying well, we will get it to you as soon as we can, which I rejected as how long do you wait ? to add to this the driver was argumentative, after I asked them to pass the information onto their management, I understand its not the drivers fault but, the face of the company is the person you see, therefore they need to take it as face value and accept the comments to pass on, after talking to them, it was clear no one cared even for a long standing customer, not the way to stay in business if you ask me.

Fast and reliable service Good food cheap and worth

Every time you order receive the wrong order or ask to leave food out and do not come to get it so it ends up all over the driveway from the foxes. Never again

Disrespectful staff who told us 2h we phoned 3h later an asked to be referred for not being honest one’s a week we get food from there no more shame on all them that work there no honour

Life changing, I didn’t actually know Chinese food could make a grown man cry. The customer service was unbelievably good, so friendly it made my day. Worth the money every day of the year until I die.

The food never use to be bad the last couple of times it's been awful bsweet and sour mixed balls were over cooked ans even had hair in them , chips where under cooked still raw

Had a piece of chicken looks like its been cooked & cooked like its days old . So horrible fed it to the cat .

Ordered a takeaway at 6 10 on Saturday 18th July 2021 was told by the young man on the phone that it would take roughly 35 to 50 minutes so I said OK I'll wait not too bad on a Saturday evening nothing came within that time so waited a little while longer then I decided to ring was told the order was on the way it eventually turned up at around 5 to 8 nearly 2 hours of waiting the food was cold the curry sauce was all congealed I wasn't happy to say the least so I them rang back was told I could have a discount on my next order I kindly refused and asked for a refund now bearing In mind we are in a pandemic and my son has covid and we are all isolating I was offered a refund but had to give the food back surely that is a no no not that I wanted it needless to say they turned up much much later to take the food and hand me a refund needless to say that was unfortunately the last time I will be ordering from there after many years of using the takeaway

The best of a bad bunch.... Food ok and a little tasty. I do prefer lotus in chafford hundred...but that's to my taste... But overall it's not bad

Excellent food! Havent ordered from New World before, but the food was very delicious! I especially enjoyed the Chicken Balls, which wasnt just a ball of batter, but actually had a decent amount of chicken inside of it... loved those! The chicken in Black Bean sauce was also outstanding. I will definitely be placing an order with them again!

If you want a decent meal..order from here. No other chinese restaurant in Grays beats it. The salt and pepper squid is and the vermicelli chicken noodles is one of the best. They also make it spicy if you want to. I dont write reviews but ive been ordering from New World for years and i love it!!

Chips are taste as if they are refried from the previous day and over cooked . And often get the orders mixed up

Always great service and delicious food

Ordered food at 5.55 told 1 hour. At 7.20 called told 15 minutes. Called 35 minutes later told 5 mins it’s on the way. It’s a 2 min drive. 15 minutes later I am cooking dinner 8.10 I’m cooking dinner. Driver arrives told him I have cancelled. It’s not so much that they are busy but the girl lied 3 times. All she had to say was we are busy can you collect. Will not use them again, no respect for customers. One star is too much.

Probably the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever purchased. One of the Special Currys was all sauce with just a few bits of meat. Chips had obviously been cooked for ages and left as they had shriveled up. None of it was hot. This used to be a great Chinese takeaway. It is obvious the owners are now just mugging their customers off by serving rubbish food. I phoned the shop immediately it was delivered to complain but they girl on the phone just replied OK.

My daughter has an intolerance to gluten (coeliac disease) as a rule we don’t buy takeaways as we don’t trust them. Tonight we thought we would try this Chinese (wish we hadn’t) we asked a question. Had the barbecue sauce got any gluten in. The reply was. “I don’t know” so we asked if they could check!!! A few seconds later she came back and said that the chef didn’t know. I think that this is disgusting and unacceptable especially when they say in a section in the menu, if you have any allergies to these products (gluten being one of them) please inform us before ordering. We will do our best to advise. Well If, “I don’t know” is the best advice they can give I will not be ordering from them again. Very poor.

Went in an ordered chicken balls and chips, half hour later still no order, asked where my order was did not know, avoid bad customer service

Really good food , consistently delicious.

Food arrived 15 minutes late and sweet and sour sauce was left out, when my mum phoned they hung up on her.

TERRIBLE SERVICE... Ordered our dinner at 6pm to be told it would be with us within 30-40 minutes. I call them after 1 hour & 10 minutes to be told it would be with me shortly. It turned up 1hr & 30m after ordering it to find that we were missing 2 items. Called them up to complain about the missing items to be told that it would be sent out to me within 10-15 minutes. Had to call up after 40 minutes to find out where it was to be told it would be with me any minute. Turned up 2hr & 30m after ordering it and was given a refund for the two items (they even still got the order wrong again).... SHOCKING SERVICE..... DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE

I love this Chinese takeaway. They are quick, good variation of dishes, inexpensive and happy friendly service.

Ordered my food and was told 25-40 minutes I waited an hour to which I then called the store, to then be told it will be another 5 - 10 minutes. Calling through to order at first was a nightmare to, someone would be speaking then they would leave the phone half way through your conversation.

Prompt delivery 5 stars there. However the food was horendous! I orderd fried rice a very standard chinese dish. It was overcooked and soggy, no taste and the chefs probably used frozen veg. In fact the dish was an insult to my tastebuds.

Food good, delivery can take ages, but drivers are always nice - just busy I think. But pick up.os super quick!

This is the only Chinese, I'll ever go to now for a takeaway. every time I've order food from here it's always been really lovely, and when I've recommended this place to other people they have said they were also very impressed with it to.
