Lovely restaurant for a special night out.

Good food, nice place, pleasant service.

Gorgeous grub and impeccable service in elegant surroundings. Philippe is a true gentleman who oversees this gem of a restaurant, with subtle and cutting humour but always unfailingly polite and charming. The high standard of welcome and service is echoed by the extremely good food -we had supper here last Friday during the Petworth Literary Festival Week and our food was incredible. If it is still on the menu, please please try the cauliflower velouté which was as close to culinary heaven that I have ever been.

Great lunch at E Street Bar & Grill. Starter of smoked beef croquette (crisp, crunchy coating with a subtle smoky beef filling), and rich venison Bourguignon for main - bravo to the kitchen crew. Set menus is £40 for two courses - which is good value given the quality of the food on offer. I’ve eaten here a few times over the last couple of years - and E Street has never disappointed.

After being recommended highly to visit for dinner my husband and I were really looking forward to our evening. On arrival we were stood waiting for our table until the server abruptly showed us to our table. It was 15 minutes until our drink order was taken, we asked for mezcal margaritas which took a further 15 minutes and I would describe them as tasting like a pre mix from a can. By then we’d been seated for 30 minutes before our starters & mains order was taken, again it felt rushed and hurried. Our table was sat close the kitchen where we could hear the bell ringing impatiently and calls “service!” It was clear then the serving team were understaffed but at this point there was no acknowledgment of that by our server, unfortunately he’d totally lost any professionalism and it made the room uncomfortable. Sat opposite us were a couple who were served 2 Ox tail incorrectly, 25 minutes later there correct orders arrived. The food though was good - oysters, Ox tail, rib eye and the croquette was delicious but sadly the poor margarita left an acidic taste + the frantic atmosphere overshadowed the experience. We ordered a glass of sparkling wine & beer, these were forgotten but taken off the bill when my husband had to go up to the bar. Service charge was left on the bill though at 15%. It’s a real shame as the establishment is gorgeous and has great potential for a pleasant evening with a loved one or friends.

Anthony and Phillip are the most accommodating persons I've ever met. I would return just on their service alone with care for our dog and baby. Food is also perfect but you don't get to see the cook. Booked my next visit already! I will stress they are just as amazing when busy and I would suggest more staff support for them. Only a friendly suggestion xx

We had our dream wedding at E Street Bar & Grill. The Stag Room is absolutely perfect for a small intimate wedding. Jennifer, Nishant and Aaron and all the staff at E Street were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us in the run up to the big day and on the day. The day ran so smoothly, and we didn't have to worry and could focus on enjoying the day with friends and family. The food was just divine and we had a meeting with Aaron (head chef) to curate our perfect menu! We also stayed at Angel Inn, Ryde House and East House and the accommodation is just beautiful. I would highly recommend having your special day at E Street! We will be going back for our annual anniversaries to celebrate with some lovely lunch! Thank you to everyone in the team at E Street.

A beautiful restaurant! We stumbled across the restaurant by chance and we were blown away by the food - a talented chef. We both raved about the food all the way home. We sat outside in the historical & pretty courtyard. It’s rare to eat food in the UK that is of this standard. We had three courses from the set menu. I don’t normally have a dessert but as the starter and main were so fabulous, I didn’t want to miss out. I’m a vegetarian and I was very spoilt. Highly recommend EStreet!

We went to the E Street bar and grill last night. The staff were attentive and diligent. The cocktails we had were fab. We had a sharing tomahawk, £75 for two. This was absolutely delicious and a real treat to share with my wife. Service and friendliness of the staff was exemplary. My only criticism of the meal were that the main plates were cold. Take note. How I would improve things! A bit of theatre / drama by carving the tomahawk at the table for the customer. This would allow thicker or thinner slices and for the more well done bits to be carved to cooking taste. (my wife likes well done where as I like rare) An excellent visit. Order a tomahawk when booking as they go fast. 5 stars well deserved.

Service was poor. Staff were not friendly and our meal took just over 1.5 hrs to arrive. Seats were dirty and we felt overlooked compared to larger parties.

Lovely restaurant for Saturday lunch in the sunshine with friends. We have always enjoyed visiting this very attractive place in Petworth. . Beautifully decorated and friendly attentive service with delicious food and a very relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Pretty courtyard garden so good to sit inside but with the doors open letting the very welcome sunshine in. Only down side was a rather tasteless raspberry pudding. So often the meal is let down by desserts which are so easy to make Delicious. One of our favourite places and fairly priced.

Great food and atmosphere. Service was quite the opposite. I had a waitress wearing gym clothes asked me from two tables away whether I wanted bread and as I was thinking about it because I have gluten intolerance and my partner wasn’t sure she impatiently said it’s included with the food. How come you invest so much in a good chef and great atmosphere yet you fail in the service which is as important as the food

Came here for my birthday meal with family. Starter of Tuna carpaccio was good although absolutely swimming in soy sauce. Both my bro in law and I weren’t overly impressed and heard the table next to us also complain for the same reasons. The Main course of “Jamaican jerk” pork belly was so unbelievably bland even Co-Op make a better rendition of Jamaican food from their ready meal range. Honestly, I was soooooo disappointed. This was so unbelievably vanilla even Madagascar didn’t want their pods associated with the dish. In summary it was sooooo underseasoned and had zero flavour. On a positive note the pork was tender but with so much soggy unrendered fat where I was served the end cut, which was smaller and didn’t have the same structure or rendering as both my parents’ dishes. I can’t believe the chef thought it was acceptable to serve this! Zero smoke on the supposedly “smoked” sweet potato… maybe the kitchen staff breathe over it with their fruity Elf Bars. When asked if everything was ok, we let the waitress know I wasn’t enjoying the main and it was bland and she just responded “oh” shrugged and walked off, didn’t ask if I wanted anything else, or if there was anything she could do, or seem interested in finding out more information on what the issue was. Based on the incredibly disappointing first two courses I didn’t bother taking a risk with the desserts. At the end of the meal the manager took the pork belly off the bill, which is something I guess. The main positives to takeaway is it is a lovely decor and the restaurant has a great feel to it. The staff were somewhat attentive but their reaction to our complaint to the food was poor and should be better. Not a clue how this managed to get included in the Michelin guide. We won’t be returning.

It is fine dining and so not cheap. But quality of food is excellent you will not be dissapointed. Enjoyed very much.

Food was outstanding except my steak was a tad too salty. Everything else was sublime. The front of house team were amazing. Great service, friendly staff and a special mention to Ant who was brilliant.

We called in on the off chance, everywhere else was fully booked, we needed a table for 9 people. The manager accommodated us upstairs big table. Weird menu not very child friendly, but we appreciated the service.

Beat place to eat around petworth out of the hungry guest establments this is far the best , food is always nice and a pleasant atmosphere, great cocktails and the baked Alaska has a place on any desert menu , lighting a bit bright as of late used to love the cosy feel felt a bit bright in ther last te but that's my only dig great place to eat

Wonderful cuisine! The tuna sashimi was absolutely great. Fish - Hake perfect! The service is very careful and friendly.

We had a superb family lunch at E-Street with some of the nicest food we’ve had in ages. Great service from the front of house team and some excellent “support” from our new best French friends Meursault and Margaux! Stunning!

Having strolled by this restaurant on several occasions while living in the area, we initially dismissed it as just another run-of-the-mill steakhouse or pub chain. A few attempts to drop in spontaneously were thwarted by the crowd, but we finally made a reservation for a special date night, and what a delightful surprise it turned out to be. To our pleasant amazement, this place is far from your typical steakhouse and pub. It's a captivating restaurant boasting an intriguing menu and dishes prepared to absolute perfection. Their wine selection is top-notch, and the service is truly exceptional. If you, like us, have been casually passing by this gem without giving it a second thought, we wholeheartedly recommend making a reservation—you won't be disappointed. We're already planning multiple return visits in the future.

As you walk through the door a warm and friendly welcome sets the scene for your time here. The food is beautifully cooked and presented, there is an extensive wine and cocktail list and the service is fantastic, we booked again on our way out!

The staff here were wonderful, especially dealing with my visually impaired partner. They automatically made it all easier for him by quietly describing what was where on his plate and on the table. They were cheerful, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Oh and the food was great!

Phillipe and the team were phenomenal, the coffee machine had a problem and when I ordered affogato he went across the street to get the required espresso. Above and beyond. The rest of the food and service were great.

We only popped in for pudding which was fantastic. I had the chocolate tart with strawberry and mint sorbet which was divine

My husband and I had an amazing lunch here on our wedding anniversary. The food was incredible, great menu to choose from and the venison dish was delicious. Great puddings and wine selection too. The service was great and the setting of the restaurant was lovely, we look forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy a meal in the lovely courtyard too. Highly recommend.

Really nice atmosphere as you walk in and staff are friendly, polite and efficient. We came in just as they opened and got to sit indoors with windows to the sunny courtyard. Decor is beautiful! We were offered water straight away and then after getting us a jug, they proceeded to take the food order and main drinks. We got pink lemonade and a bottle of Birra Morretti (no beer on tap here) along with Jerusalem Artichoke Tart, Shaved Romanesco and Pomegranate as well as Ham Hock Terrine with picked figs and beetroot ketchup. Absolutely delicious! For mains we got Venison, parsnips, venison croquettes along with pork tenderloin with artichoke root raised red cabbage. Great food! Must say that the quality of food comes with a fitting price tag as we paid just under £85 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks. But it's great place to go to for an occasion :D Will be coming back 100%

Food was perfect, table waiter was brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. Bar tender loved to chat too much so our drinks took absolutly ages to arrive. If your whole table can get their desert and finish it before your coffee arrives, it's a bit annoying, so a star off for that. Otherwise everything was absolutely perfect.

Food Amazing on the whole, I had the monkfish Bisque, couldn't speak highly enough of it, my friend had something she wasn't keen on, but it's already off the menu after a wee chat with the lovely chef! Wonderful staff, thumbs up to Jude, very efficient, as they all were. Have the Voigner, the South African one, full of herby flavours!

Wonderful food in a lovely restaurant. The only issue I had was that I ordered a dish from set menu for £11 which seemed very good value, I did not have a 2nd course and was charged £18 plus the 12.5% service charge. I understand why they want you to have 2 courses and have a minumym price but this should be stated on thr menu.

Enjoyed a wonderful celebration lunch. Phillipe and the staff as always attended to us with care and warmth, always going above and beyond. Our food and wine were superb - they even secured my favourite steak off-menu! We love the decor, ambience and excellent people-watching. Definitely our first choice for special occasions. Wonderful dinner. First visit and super impressed. Ambiance fantastic, service friendly and brilliant the waitress had a wonderful rapport. Selection of gin second to none. I had a hoxton coconut and grapefruit gin which was excellent. Food was incredibly tasty, heavenly as our young son put it! Overall a superb night out. We will be back.

Overpriced rubbish with a rude Maitre d with an overly inflated ego who should not be in the job he is doing !!! Very disappointing!!!! Shame on you!

Absolutely fantastic. Traveled especially to go here for lunch today and was definitely not disappointed. Beautifully decorated; really friendly and helpful staff, and absolutely fantastic food and drink. I'm sure we'll be back again sometime soon. Although perhaps a little more expensive than some places, the quality of everything makes the prices very good value for money in my opinion. Thanks all!

We were in Petworth and decided to visit the Bar for early evening coffee and drinks. The indoor seating in the bar area is very comfortable, and the place is stylishly decorated. The staff were friendly, inviting, and helpful. The coffee and drinks were very nice, although there was no bar food. The restaurant area also looks stylish, and we would definitely like to visit again to have lunch or dinner. Well recommended.

Lovely venue with excellently attentive (and patient!) team on hand in beautiful surroundings. Menu appears very diverse with lots of those psuedo-words that they must teach in chef college to bamboozle and impress. The food was very good indeed but not quite up to level of pricing and wines were disappointing ...but perhaps that is just my experience. Would recommend but go easy on the wine list unless cost is no question for you.

A real gem of a restaurant, really lovely inside. We were seated in the room at the back which was light and airy overlooking the patio outside. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. We’re vegetarian so don’t always have a great experience, however we weren’t disappointed. The food was fabulous, so good we’re going back before we go home from our staycation.

Hungry after our visit to Petworth House and lucky to spot this on our way into Petworth itself. Lovely interior, clean bathrooms and very friendly and attentive staff. The food was spectacular, we chose from the set menu and were not disappointed. Beautifully cooked and presented with decent portion sizes too. We hadn't booked in advance, but would recommend as I think we were lucky with the time we went as it was not too busy. One of the best restaurants I've been to for a long time.

Thrilled to find such an exceptionally good restaurant in nearby Petworth. We came here years ago when it was the Leconfield Arms and only recently rediscovered it. The food is sublime, the service first class. Definitely the best restaurant in the part of the world.

A place to go to for a special occasion. It was very nice inside and the food was really delicious. Lovely unusual food selection. We had tuna Carpaccio which was sensational and grilled aubergine with mushrooms - also with lots of flavour. The staff were very nice and attentive. Be aware even though there is no dress code most people dressed very smart at the restaurant.

The stake was one of the best I've ever had and the desert was mind-blowing. Nice ambiance and very good service.

Wow. The food was amazing, I would say the best meal I have ever had. The service is brilliant. We went for supper with our two children and sat in the garden. The whole atmosphere was lovely, relaxed but at the same time you know you are in a special place. We can't wait to go again.

So good to be back. The food was absolutely delicious from starters to desserts. We where very well looked after by the lovely waitress with the brown hair.

We took my father for lunch yesterday. The place was very busy. Our roast was excellent as was my burnt cream. The service was very attentive, specially the gentleman with the suit. My dad was delighted with the whole experience and his first time with us after the difficult past months.Thank you all for a great day, we will be back.

Booked a table as Petworth’s other food offerings were limited. So glad we did, what a glorious and lovely place. From the booking to the bill the service was exceptional. The manager was clearly a seasoned pro who was expertly directing the younger team with a professional hand. The service was personal, discreet and attentive without being overbearing.Cocktails, food and wine were all delicious and was reasonably priced.The only slight (and being picky) negatives I could find were a bit of clutter visible in a back of house area visible from our lovely round marble table and the atmospheric little lamp behind the table was a bit dusty.I just wished we lived closer as we’d be back. Lots. Well done team, thank you for a great night

It's great to be back here after lockdown. The menu has changed quite a bit, and is much more minimal then it used to be - but maybe they're getting their act together. The chicken schnitzel was absolutely delicious. The starters weren't quite so good (the cauliflower starter was tasteless). All in all the ambience is still lovely though. Hopefully they will get some ales back (only had a couple of unimaginative lagers) - there are so many wonderful local ales, it would be nice to offer some of those, rather then just focussing on wines?

It was mid afternoon and having walked for hours we wanted a drink. Staff were helpful and gave us a table in garden even though we were not eating and this is clearly a restaurant. Good service lovely seating outside.

Nice service, friendly staff, only thing I would say is that the meals don't seam to come with any sauce. For e.g. The tuna steak or the monkfish don't come with any condiment(s) sauce or dressing which made it a bit dry. The flexibility of the kitchen is good though, if anyone has specific dietary needs or allergies then do their best to accommodate.

I have now been five times over a period of a few months. The place is cosy with log fires in winter and a outside patio in summer. Its cosy being divided into different sections but availability for bookings is good. My food and that of my fellow dinners has been tasty and no one has had any complaints. It good that the menu reflects what you get. Its seasonal and changes regularly but retains a core of favourites. I did not intend to be a regular but they have consistently delivered. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing and most are regular staff so they know how the place functions. I'm not an easy customer to please but to my delight I keep coming back and its been good every time.

The food is very good, and the staff are very attentive. The menu is good and there's a wide range of drinks.The portions can be a little small though, especially given the price.

We all really enjoyed our food..perfect...and great service...so you pay a bit of a premium compared to other places...but can not fault it. Well worth a special evening out.

Lovely ambience, charming staff, excellent food and drink would definitely recommend and return.Only reason its not got five stars is that my portion of monk fish was almost nouveau cuisine in size which was disappointing.So if you are visiting worth baring this in mind - you will definitely need a starter and probably still have plenty of room for desert! But hey maybe thats the idea?

Being lucky enough to win the ‘Countdown to Christmas Chichester’ prize l was delighted to know that lunch would be at E. Street Bar and Grill. Arriving in a Rolls Royce to this prestigious restaurant in the heart of attractive Petworth was an unforgettable experience. We were shown to a bright seat in the restaurant’s window and served with a glass of delicious Nyetimber sparkling wine. It was difficult to choose starters from the extensive menu but my husband settled for Scottish Haddock Fishcake, Poole Cockle Butter and Winter Salsa Verde and l selected Crispy Mereworth Venison Shoulder, Turnip Remoulade and Sherry Vinegar Picked Shallots. These were both wise choices. There was no indecision for my husband when it came to the main courses as Fillet Steak was on the menu. Cooked medium rare to perfection it was accompanied with Triple Cooked Chunky Chips. He was a very happy man! My choice was Grilled Cornish Monkfish, again, cooked to perfection and also with Triple Cooked Chunky Chips. We also chose Garlic Buttered Greens and Winter Roasted Root Vegetables as part of our 5 a day! A glass each of Malbec or Touraine Sauvignon complemented our meals. And now to desserts. My husband, being a chocoholic, went for Dark Chocolate & Salted Peanut Marquise with Clementine Sorbet. I couldn’t resist Glazed Lemon Tart with Gin &Tonic Sorbet. Perfect! Service throughout was excellent....not too rushed and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very convivial. Thank you so much for donating such a wonderful prize. We will return to the restaurant when we are next in Petworth and also recommend it to all our friends .

Lovely place, beautiful building inside and out. The food was great, service impeccable. Will definitely go back.

We had to send back three plates of food - two Monkfish dishes because it was hard to cut through the fish with a knife and a gnocchi dish which was burnt. Burnt! Think this restaurant is usually good but they failed to deliver on New Year’s Eve. They took off the cost of a £50 bottle of wine and the service charge, but we did not receive good value for money at £95 per person.

Excellent restaurant that we discovered for Sunday lunch. Decor is great but it is the excellent service that makes all the difference. Food was tasty and well presented, apart from the cauliflower tart which no one really cared for unfortunately. All the wines we tried by the glass were excellent as well. Planning our return visit already!

I visited this restaurant with my family from Spain ( they don't speak English). The staff were very attentive and tried really hard to explained the menu to them. Food was exceptional and will definitely come back again.

Just had an excellent meal here. Deceptively modest from the outside, it turns out to be a very stylish bar and restaurant, would not be out of place in the smartest parts of London. We ate a pasta dish and chicken schnitzel, both were excellent and we took what we couldn't eat home. Excellent service, fine dining level. Nothing to fault the whole experience.

Good service and an enjoyable meal . Cocktail bar to one side of restaurant area works well . Typical cuisine and a good stock of wines. Had heard that this restaurant was very expensive but found it in keeping with others in Petworth

The place is beautifully decorated and the lighting and music was great to give it that relaxed yet upmarket atmosphere. I was truly disappointed with the service. Upon arriving to an empty restaurant, we sat and were given the menus and when the server returned with drinks we asked for a few minutes while we read the menu. The waiter walked away and very loudly said to another member of staff "they're going to read the whole thing" in a snarky way. When asked what the soup of the day is the waiter shouted over the whole restaurant to ask someone. Yes, we were the only customers there at the time but it really ruined the atmosphere. Throughout the meal the staff were often loudly talking to eachother and we were left waiting a lot of the time. I wasn't asked once if I wanted another drink. After asking for the bill we also had to wait 15 minutes after saying we were in a rush and ended up going to the bar to pay. The food: I had a rump steak burger and wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. I was really surprised by this especially because the place is named "grill". The burger was very dry and well done, it came with no sauce at all on it which I am still shocked by. However, the triple cooked chips were lovely and my mum enjoyed her pork belly. Overall an underwhelming meal for its price, and fairly poor service.

An elegant restaurant in the centre of Petworth with a pretting terrace.The manager Nick warmly welcomed us. we started with a baby dover sole with sea weed butter and a pigeon breast with put lentils, followed by a Brixham plaice and yellow fin tuna all dishes were perfectly cooked triple cooked chips a purple broccoli were excellent for dessert we had lemongrass and cardamon panna cotta and dark chocolate hazel nut torte everything was delicious and washed down with copious quantiies of Sancerre

We fell upon this little restaurant in Petworth. The decor is beautiful with the textured fabrics, beautiful rich colours and antique mirroring. The Dover sole that I had to start was so startlingly delicious as part of a set menu. The spatchcock poisson for main course was so succulent and the roast potatoes had the amazing crispy edges. Brilliant value and the staff were so friendly.

Not very good in fact very ordinary. I will not revisit The service was average and the food very average especially for a restaurant that is said to be “Great”

Went with 20 others to celebrate a friends 60th birthday . The meal had been pre arranged and it was fabulous! Gorgeous food, wonderful setting. Would recommend this place for any type of celebration.

I hosted my 60th birthday lunch in the private upstairs room yesterday.

It's rare for a restaurant to fail at every step, but this place managed it. Shown to our table upstairs, where atmosphere and buzz is totally lacking, we ordered drinks. A champagne cocktail came so flat no bubbles were visible at all. A suitable replacement was poured, but why would you serve the fist flat one?

We made a last minute booking for this restaurant before driving back to London and we had a fantastic time. Carlos and the rest of the staff (especially a kind older female staff members) were amazing. They had a high chair for our 20 month old daughter and brought paper and crayons for her to scribble on. They were very considerate to her needs. The food was well cooked, served timely and very delicious. We recommend this restaurant and would like to thank them for helping us have such a wonderful time and plan to return in the future for more fantastic food.
