Had takeaways from here for many years but today was the BEST EVER. Tried a Mirchi - very hot and spicy 🌶 a new favourite!!

Absolutely faultless service and delicious, freshly cooked high quality dishes. We cannot fault the meal we ordered for my birthday today! We’ve been recommended this restaurant by many friends and were not disappointed. They use great quality ingredients and clearly cook each dish fresh (not just add meat into whichever premade gloopy sauces we’ve experienced elsewhere). I’m Indian and like to think I know a good quality Indian restaurant and this place has blown me away! You’ll find whole spices in your pilau and curries which to me is a sure sign they cook everything to order. Highly recommend the mixed tandoori grill, paneer tikka shashlik, lamb dhansak (the lamb falls apart - delicious lentil curry that has a good kick), aloo gobi (even beats my mums and that’s saying something!) and the fresh tandoor cooked naans (we loved the peshwari and kulcha). The pilau rice was fragrant and tasty. I can’t fault the meal and highly recommend this restaurant for take away or sit in. Thank you for making my lockdown birthday still feel like a treat and thank you for the bottle of Prosecco - a really lovely gesture and much appreciated. Order your next takeaway from here - you won’t be disappointed!!!

Having moved to East Sussex two years ago I have been making extra special journeys back up to Surrey to my old Indian restaurant as the ones I have tried here have ranged from rank to mediocre, with one of them even giving me a hair of unknown origin in my Tarka Dal! Yuk.However, I'm working through a list of Indian restaurants and I tried New Spice last week for a takeaway and frankly I am glad that I did. Very good service, polite and courteous staff and even though it was a Friday evening they didn't keep me waiting for ages. Oh, the food? It was excellent and I am going to use them again. Excellent and thanks.

Food is delicious, and they offer a great Sunday deal of starter, curry, rice or naan and side dish for £14.50. I believe they also do deals on other days.

You will always get the warmest, friendliest welcome and top flight service at New Spice. The food is so delicious, cooked true to traditional recipes but with that special something..and generous portions, always! The takeaways make home dining special, they just dont taste like typical takeaway dishes, and I highly recommend eating at the restaurant; the service is superb, snd atmosphere warm and 'upbeat'. A visit to New Spice lifts your spirits. Book early though! It's popular.

Ordered online which was pretty straightforward. Good choice of standard dishes and their own specialities. Ready to pick up exactly at time ordered. Food was very good and Huge portions, enough for another meal the following day so worked out good value.

Myself and my husband came away to Hastings to escape London for the weekend. We came across New spice and were very impressed! We got the mixed grill as starters which was a great portion and very tasty. As mains we were recommended the prawn bhuna, daal & chicken curry. All curries were outstandingly tasty and we definitely have a reason to visit Hastings again. Thank you to the staff at New spice - you were all amazing hosts! See you soon.

We ordered a take away during lockdown and we were surprised with how expensivethe takeaway was. The prices had increased but not the quality........Having eaten here many times, we decided to give them another chance and booked a table during the Eat Out to Help Out...Nobody asked us to clean our hands with sanitiser, which we hadn’t seen on entering the restaurant. As it is not very visible due to No signs or member of staff to advise you or ask you to.The menu is not 1 time Use...supposed to be with the Covid and the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme Rules,The original offers have been removed..Another rule break.Prices have Been ...increased further. So Expensive.The quality of our food was disappointing and dry.Constantly asked If we wanted more drinks..Whilst waiting a long time for our Food. We had bought plenty of drinks and drinks on the table. So didn’t need to be asked constantly if we wanted more drinks by the waitresses.. (who were told to push the drinks.The bill is not itemised for your drinks ....just food. If you can work out the writing.. After a long wait for the bill....With the £40 discount deducted. We worked out the balance was still More than we had paid at another Curry Restaurant we had been dined at, who was Not taking part in the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme.Sadly helping out the New Spice Restaurant is a one way street. They are not helping out their customers by hiking up their prices considerably and removing their usual offers. Which is also against the scheme rules.If the food had been enjoyable you could forgive a Moderate Price Increase.Please remember everyone has been affected by Covid and have lost out financially.We are voting with our feet and will not eat here again. It is so easy not to bother doing a review but not in this case...very shockedBy the lack of Covid rules and Scheme rules and the ridiculously high prices.Shame On You.....New Spice More like Over Priced......

Ok not visited here for a few years now , went early evening and all CO 19 restrictions in place, quick friendly attentive service , and food very nice.Its amazing how the same dish varies from establishment to establishment.Tikka Masala best for a while , the butter chicken was just a tad bland but overall not disappointed in any way , we will be back soon.

I’ve been to New Spice several times over the past few years and the food has just got better and better. This time my son was visiting from Manchester, self-proclaimed curry capital of the UK, and he said it was the best he’d ever had.

After living in London for 10 years, and being an Indian cuisine lover for considerably longer. I can wholeheartedly say that New Spice in Robertsbridge is the best Indian food I have ever had. Super friendly staff too which is always a massive plus! Definitely worth a go if you're craving a good Indian. A gem of East Sussex.

Eaten here lots of times. Never had a bad experience. Loads of choice. Good value and they often offer a complimentary brandy or liqueur to go with your coffee. English food available if one of your party is less adventurous.

We experienced the usual great Indian food and excellent service. There is an extensive menu, although only really ice-cream for pudding. The complimentary liqueurs with coffee are always appreciated.

Having been blown around Brands Hatch all day, it was a blessed relief to have dinner on a Saturday. Night at the New Spice. Great lively atmosphere, food excellent as was the service.If your ever in the Robertsbridge area, make sure you visit this place.

Booked last minute on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival the car park at the rear certainly made things a lot easy with two young children. The restaurant was modern and contemporary, staff were friendly and efficient and got colouring pads and pens for children which was a real nice touch. Good selection of chutneys with popadoms.Ordered a selection of curries, rices, nans and sides. All we a very high standard and could not fault any of it ! I had a hot chicken dish which was recommended by the waiter chicken Dom ..... something which was lovely flavoursome and spicy, a change from my normal chicken naga. Hygiene rating of 4 which is the lowest I would visit and think there is no excuse for establishments not hitting 5 hopefully they will get this on the next inspection. It’s certainly not the cheapest curry house, but I am more than happy to pay for this quality and in a village with no other Indian restaurants as competition.We will certainly be back in the near future .... thanks to all that made my partners birthday an enjoyable evening with top notch food and nice drinks. The complimentary drinks at the end were very tasty and another nice touch!

We go here every time we are in Robertsbridge. The food is decent quality and the staff are good. Above average food with plenty of choice.

Whilst away for a family wedding we decided to look for a local curry house and found New Spice and liked the look of it and the reviews sounded good. The reviews weren’t wrong. Very nice little place in a quaint little village, with really friendly staff. Great menu offerings, with the obvious staples and a selection of chefs and house specialties, the food did not disappoint. Piping hot and extremely tasty food was served up with minimal fuss, with a good range and selection of alcoholic and soft drinks to accompany. The best part was the complementary warm brandy for the men and Tia Maria with cream shot for the ladies. A definite must visit if you’re in the vicinity and you’re looking for a curry.

These guys did the catering for our wedding at Frickley Lakes, Ninfield. They were very well organised, communicated well and worked with us to get a menu together for our guests. They supplied all of the cutlery and crockery for the event and were on-site to set up at the right time. They provided someone on-site to help with the buffet and keep the food flowing during the afternoon.The food itself was amazing. The quality of the dishes was top notch and the guests all have said how good the food was. There was also plenty to go round so the band and bar staff tucked in as well.We cannot recommend these guys enough. They made our special day even more special by taking any hassle about the catering out of the picture!

Tonight was our first visit to New Spice and we were extremely impressed with the food, the service and the ambience. We could not fault it in any way, it really was a 5 star experience.

Lovely friendly restaurant. Food a little on the expensive side but to be expected as only place for miles. Service good, although poppadoms were stale. Dips were plentiful. Food nice although would prefer a little more fresh ingredients to come through. Asked for second round of drinks but was forgotten. Lovely after service complimentary drinks. (Although wasted due to driving).

This is the best curry house in East Sussex. Food is hot and incredibly tasty. Tuesdays and Sundays they do a meal deal. Great service as always.

First visit. It was very busy on a Saturday night. It is a nice dining room, with pleasantly spread out tables. The tableware is of good quality. The service, even though it was very busy, remained efficient and polite. The menu is very large. The food was very good, and I particularly liked that there was genuine ‘heat’ in the spicy dishes which is quite rare nowadays. We were a large party and they had no problem dealing with that, even though they were very busy.I will definitely return.

We popped in again as passing through from a long drive and hungry. I work locally and have eaten here a few times and every time they have never got my order right. So as it was on our way home we decided to try again. When we got there only four other tables with people eating to pretty quiet. I ordered a lamb curry and when all of our food arrived I started to eat a veg dish I had ordered and it was lovely my hubby was tucking in to his dinner. When I started on my main dinner it was chicken not lamb I went and questioned the order and yes I had ordered lamb. In fairness they offered to cook another one but I decline as the time it would have arrived hubby would had eaten his did not go to a restaurant to eat alone. The waiter then came and asked if they could cook one for us to take home no thank you dinner is now and 8pm why would I want to take one home. To be honest I was very surprised to be billed for the whole meal no discount off my dinner at all for the inconvenience. This is not good customer service and will not be going back.

Was a bit of an impromptu visit, but got a table for six. Poppadoms to start, with various curried mains. I had one of the lamb specials which was really good with mushroom rice. We were given a complementary drink after the meal, my brandy came in its own little warming stand with a tealight. Nice to have a good curry house in the area, would go back !

We visited this evening after a friend recommended it to us. We are fairly local, but had always gone to another Indian in the area. This evening we decided to try somewhere different, and we are so pleased we did.

This place serves up an excellent night out. The food is genuinely superb as is the friendly service.

I hesitate to write anything nice about this wonderful restaurant because I selfishly don't want it to get any busier than it already is. Everything about it is first class from the friendly welcome you receive on entering to the complimentary liqueur at the end. For 50 years of my life I'd never eaten anything other than chicken korma in a curry restaurant through sheer nervousness at trying anything unfamiliar. But because I don't think you can possibly go wrong, I've tried all sorts of things in here and haven't yet been disappointed. The only thing that worries me is the name. You should never call anything 'New'. The New golf course at St Andrews was opened towards the end of the 19th century and probably is a little embarrassed about its name today. Still, Old Spice conjures up the wrong image of gents' toiletries and so I'm afraid it'll have to stick with New Spice.

Popped in whilst passing through. Magnificent meal. Beautiful flavours, classy, original dishes. Great staff and wonderful olde worlde surroundings yet tastefully presented. Loved it.

Staying at the Lady Stella Bodiam and went on the way home for a takeaway.The food is one of the best we have ever tasted. The flavours are fantastic, the ingredients are so fresh and quality of meat is excellent. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend if you are in this area.

We were staying At Brightling Park for a wedding and met up with friends the night before for a curry and a catch up. This restaurant is a little gem, the food was really good, the staff were really friendly as were the other guests! If we're ever in the area again we'll definitely visit.

Whilst on holiday in Robertsbridge we ordered a takeaway from New Spice. It was ready at the time stated, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food delicious. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night for another one. Shame we live so far away to get their loyalty card as would definitely visit regularly. Highly recommended.

I recently visited New Spice and I must say the food was amazing. Food was given on time and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very welcoming and had a smile at all times. I will definitely visit again.

My husband and I turned up for lunch at 2p.m to find the door locked despite "open" signs displayed front and back of building. We could see light on and voices coming from what looked like kitchen windows although they were covered with blinds. 10 of us spent £400 on a monday lunchtime. Nice food , 2 waiting staff, one was fine, the other had a personality by-pass. For me, I enjoy a restaurant as much for the food as to how I'm treated. Because of the grumpy waiter, shan't recommend or return there.

The lamb and chiken were tough, low quality meat. And the chicken Jalfrezi cost around £12.50 Spices were OK, but service was as abrupt as possible.

I have been a regular here for many many years I live local and don't think I've ever had a bad meal here ! You can come here dressed up on a Saturday night with your friends at the same time fancy a curry after work on a Tuesday with a work friend then just as welcome, child friendly menu, suitable for a vegetarian too my daughter loves their vegetable curry the staff are ace more friendly than any other Indian I have been to, yes they do get busy at weekends so be sure to book but that's for one reason only and that's the good prices excellent food great service and a very comfortable warm atmosphere you won't regret it !

Moved to the area just over a year ago, we just never got around to having a curry. Until some friends suggested we meet up for a curry one evening. On arrival, we were made very welcome, offered drinks, no rush to order while we were chatting. Good choice of all the usual offerings but some really interesting specialties.

Went here for the first time last week it was lovely busy but didn't have to wait long for our food and staff very friendly would recommend this restaurant if you wanted a nice Indian very tasty

Come here often. The food is good and great value - especially on sunday and tuesday when the deals are on. Sadly tho there is always such a massive delay on food and drinks .. just everything. Quite often you still havent got your drink 20 minutes after ordering and you have to re-order. The wait may not be as long if you come as a couple (i feel the resteraunt is more suited to this) but we always come as a 4 or a 6 and they just cant handle bigger tables. Tonight we waited 30 minutes before ordering and by the time our starters were out a table of 2 had come and gone. Not an issue if you are in good company and happy to wait but if you want an attentive service this is not the place for you.

We come here for family get togethers. They do great meal deals on certain days of the week and the food is GOOD. They are always busy so i recommend booking. The staff are jolly and always have a smile. Parking can be tricky as the car park is small and the high street can get very busy but if you are prepared to walk a few minutes you will get parked.

This was my second visit in a year. The food was good with smiling service. They decorated the table for the birthday without us even asking which was thoughtful. They accommodated our 14 member group well - there were another 2 groups there on the night. So if you want a quiet family night out don't go on Friday or Saturday.

I haven't been here since I was a teenager but after reading reviews I took my family for a 6pm dinner. From the moment we got there we felt incredibly rushed. It was very quiet as so early but the amount of takeaways obviously have the kitchen and staff very busy. The food was average, one curry which wasn't supposed to be spicy was just way too hot and the rest of the dishes needed some chilli and flavour. My channa masala was soo sweet and not anything like the dish I order regularly. Such a shame. Think next time I will get the cookbook out and make my own!

Visited this restaurant last night and it was fantastic. The food was the best Indian food I have had. I ordered the vegetarian vindaloo and the vegetable rice but were delicious. My friend ordered the Raj on the recommendation of the waiter and he loved it as well. In addition, the staff were really friendly and attentive. It is a really comfortable and tastefully decorated restaurant and the prices are very reasonable.

There are only 2 places worth eating at in Robertsbridge,one is the George Inn,which serves an English menu and the other is the wonderful New Spice.We ate here last Friday and the place was buzzing,no wonder the food is absolutely wonderful,the depth of flavour was just as you would expect from a first class Indian restaurant.We felt the prices were fair and the drinks not overpriced.Be sure to book at weekends .Recommended

There are not many Indian restaurants to go round in this part of the country so this is a welcome and friendly place to come across with a good menu.

At very short notice New Spice accommodated 9 people who had consumed quite a lot of alcohol. They were already very busy, but that didn't deter from the high level of service we received. Thank you will definitely be back again

I travel all over the country with my work and I can honestly say that New Spice is one of the best Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants that I have ever eaten in. The food is outstanding, the restaurant is immaculate, very comfortable and most welcoming. The staff are equally welcoming, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. However busy the restaurant is, the staff are very efficient, very attentive and one never has to wait too long to be served. But above all, the food is consistently good and one would be hard pressed to find better quality anywhere nearby. Extremely good value for money and on banquet nights the meal offers are even more reasonable. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Visited Sunday evening - the place was packed and from the quality of the food we could understand why. All the usual favourites plus a few "specials" of the house. Thoroughly recommended

Went here for a friend's​birthday treat. The first time,the restaurant is lovely and the staff were very nice and very attentive without being too much. We went on a Tuesday night when they have a special menu. For £12.95 you can choose any starter, any main course with any side dish and a rice or nan. We were lucky that we got there early as later on it got very full. I started with tandoori chicken which came sizzling to the table with lovely fried onions on top great, i then chose the lamb shank Bengali style, the lamb fell off the bone and the sauce was lovely although a little mild for me, the curried vegetables were a nice compliment and the keeme nan was gorgeous. What also impressed me was that the plate's were not which keeps the food. This is one India restaurant that i will be going back to again and again even if not on the specials night. The house wine was also very good and very reasonable priced. An absolute gem and a wonderful find.

Visited new spice for my birthday celebration with my family, a group of 6. New to the area so decided to try somewhere new. We had a lovely evening, the staff worked extremely hard as there was a huge table of about 20 in the restaurant to who were just ahead of us with ordering food. Even so they were attentive and we had excellent service throughout. The food was also very quick considering the amount of guests they had and we thought this would be a let down but not at all. My whole family commented on how tasty their curries were, over and above the usual curry - spices and just overall better quality. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

This is an excellent restaurant, spotlessly clean, fantastic fresh food,attentive but not obtrusive service. Cannot fault it. Can't wait to go again.!

Le cadre est beau, les serveurs agreables, les plats sont bons, peut etre plus raffinés que nos restaurants en France.En revanche grosse déception sur les naans....J'adore ca et là au goût.... Sensation de sucré...Même nos amis anglais étaient étonnés.Question posée au serveur qui confirme que le chef trouve très bon de rajouter du sucre dans les naans.Fatale erreur d'où seulement 3 étoiles.

Zum Abschluss unseres Osterurlaubs waren wir heute Mittag hier essen. Wir waren mehr als zufrieden: eine sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, eine sehr stilvolle Einrichtung und unerhört schmackhafte Gerichte , noch dazu von einer sehr ausführlichen Speisekarte. Ausgezeichnet! Wir kommen gerne wieder! Kann ich nur empfehlen!

Went for dinner mid week, still very busy. Food was lovely as were the staff. There doesn't seem to be many good Indians restaurants locally so very popular.

This place was rammed the night before Good Friday in every imaginable way; queues into the car park, people queuing for tables, people queuing for a takeaway pick up. I mention this as a good thing as it's a sign of good food and clearly the locals have taken note. Had a cracking takeaway for 15 people and all was dealt with very easily. Particularly tasty was the chicken tikka balti, tarka dhal and cauliflower bhaji but know that everyone claimed their plates from a full range of dishes. Having sneaked a few mouthfuls of various other dishes I can also reassure that it was ALL good! Would recommend if you're in the area but clearly you'd be wise to make a reservation.

I'm going to keep this brief - it's much easier to write a good review after all. Everything was good. Service was very good, food was excellent - just the right amount. My only relatively minor grouse was being next to the wall by the loo entrance. It wasn't the comings and goings....it was bashing my elbow on said wall! Next time we'll get a different table. But apart from that small thing it was all good.

Was staying nearby and selected new spice to order for 5 friends. Website was fairly easy to use in conjunction with paper brochure we found however we ended up calling to complete our payment. Arrived at the restaurant, lots of parking space off the road and warm welcome via the restaurant entrance. Staff were super busy, this is a popular local choice. Some difficulty finding our order but given an order within time promised. All of us enjoyed our food, recommend asking for spicy dishes as most curries were pretty mild. Naans were lovely big and soft. Chicken tikka a bit dry but overall generous portions too.

Had a great meal here last night for our 15 year old twins birthday celebrations. I mentioned on the phone it was their birthday and when we arrived they had put up a birthday banner and put confetti on the table which was v kind of them. It's the little things! Food was superb and it was also Tuesday night deal which is a main, a side dish and rice or naan for £12.50. You don't have to choose that but we all did. Our children really enjoyed their food too and at the end the waiters bought them out a complimentary ice-cream with a candle in each and we all sang happy birthday! I must also mention I have food intolerances and they were very good and advised me that the pilau rice I ordered had dairy in so they replaced it with boiled rice. Another lovely evening at New Spice and delicious food.
