New Ruby in Birmingham

Just ordered chicken curry fried rice. Bland had to put salt on to make it edible, rice was bland, mushrooms tasted funny like a bleach taste, total mess and waiste of money, never again

Been living in this area for 3½ years now. Found it near impossible to find a good quality Chinese with a good food hygiene rating hope they get that 5 star soon though. This place was a tough find. Ordered from here for the past year½ & the food is always on point. Egg fried rice could be better though. Spicy spare rib, roast pork & duck dishes are divine 😋

Egg fried rice was hard and cold seemed very dry curry was cold not a lot there and as 4 the chips wasn't cooked yet Saturday the food was beautiful is it a different chef if so get rid of them cause normally there no complaints

£7.20 for a Cantonese in a tiny container... you should be locked up

Always good food, always delivered quickly, always a good meal. Can't fault these guys.

i ordered some bbq ribs they didn’t even taste like barbecue they looked very unpleasant and the sauce was like greasy water!!!!!!

The service was amazing. Only issue was the food, I ordered a chicken chow mein with no veg after order the chow mein I stepped outside for a quick vape and came back inside, I was no more than 2 or 3 mins. To my suprise the chow mein was ready. Didn't think much of it until I got home and started to eat the chicken chow mein and realised this chicken chow mein is leftovers and was warmed up in the microwave, the noodles had no body and the chicken had no seasoning flavour to it. Very disappointed due to the fact the meal cost me £6.90 😢😢😢

I made an order for 2 egg fried rice 1 beef chow mein and 1 beef curry instead of a beef chow mein they sent pork egg fried rice..on ringing them on the order they sent me they argued with me and said they sent the right order.......I will never use the New Ruby again I was disgusted

My food was nice but beef chow mein wasn’t yummy

I ordered from this chinese on a Saturday, paid cash on delivery, young girl (child) delivering my food kept my £5 change and began to walk off. I asked for it back and she just walked away. Shocking. This restaurant owes me my £5 back. This young girl should not be working. Can’t even do basic mathematics. Girl had Black hair and was quite skinny average height. New ruby sort this.

Because 2 payments were taken and no food!!! They even asked me to order again!!! They know the payments were taken! Fuming

Absolutely disgusted by the customer service. They literally lied my food was delayed, yet other customers after me where coming and going with there orders. I have used them before but this shocking.

ordered food over phone and they hadn’t even started cooking after they to wait for half an hour for my chew main to be full of basically raw onion and just about done chicken balls. AVOID

Curry chicken was like rubber asked to pay by card told cash only so had to go to bank to get money. Most curry shops take cards .

I had Chicken Curry from here and the Chicken was awful..chewy/dried out and tasteless..it was like trying to chew cardboard seriously. Never again...£7.40 wasted..

I dont recommend having Chicken curry from this place..the Chicken was chewy, dried out and was like trying to chew cardboard..couldn't eat it and threw in the bin unfortunately. I do not know about other dishes from this place.. I'm just giving my honest opinion on the chicken there. Oh and it's a bit pricey aswell.

Lovely food, always tasts great!

I didn’t like the taste of the food but I was so hungry that I just ate it anyway. Within about one hour I had bad stabbing pains and within less than 3 hours I had severe vomiting which continued throughout the night and to the next day. I had loss of appetite, a fever, sickness and then diarrhoea. This lasted 3 days l, the doctor told me that I had FOOD POISONING and that I can then pass it on, my partner now has food poisoning and it can go through my family. I am now extremely concerned as food poisoning can be very dangerous and it can kill people. Avoid this Chinese as food poisoning can be life threatening!! Not ok

We order from you on a regular basis and we can never fault the food, only ever a 10 minute wait when we order over the counter and your staff are always polite and friendly!!! Thank you for such amazing food, you're the reason we pick Chinese food every time! Quick, not over priced and tasty food :)

The food from here is always fresh and lovely but their delivery time is awful, if you don’t have enough drivers to deliver within an hour of order then don’t accept orders. The five stars is for their food but the delivery is awful, by the time it arrives you don’t enjoy it because your tired amd want to go to bed.

AVOID - Used to be the best Chinese in the area but ordered delivery well over 2 hours ago and still not here. Not even answering the phone despite calling multiple times. Ridiculous and ruined my evening.. Finally arrived after 2 1/2 hours, which for a Chinese delivery is absurdity. No apologies, no offer of freebies. Used to use this place weekly but never again. I could have driven to China town in London (let alone Birmingham) in that amount of time.

Last few 5 times I've been in there they like to lie about how long your food is gonna be ...... run on 2/3 staff thats with the cooks .... and food not what use to be

Absolutely delicious Chinese, I am from out of area and was looking for a Chinese that would be good. From ordering on the phone to the delivery driver, the staff were friendly and polite and the food was brilliant, the chicken balls are so crispy which I loved.

Never had no problems when picking food up, however when it came to delivery ran into multiple issues. Ordered food at 8:45PM on their website which was confirmed and approved. After 1 hour 30, tried phoning the restaurant multiple times to see whether the food had gone out for delivery and it said the number on their website was invalid. Restaurant states that it closes at 10, the food eventually turned up at 10:40 which I decided to turn away due to looking elsewhere after no contact. Would advise to sort the website out, especially the mobile number as 2 hours for a delivery is inappropriate

We ordered the shredded chilli chicken, Chicken fried rice with cashew nuts and chow mein this evening, it was absolutely perfect, friendly delivery guy and super fast delivery.

Lovely food a bit pricey. My last review was a year ago. And since then we use every Saturday. We do request thigh meat, As they changed chicken due to a complaint. We drive well out of our area to New Ruby as it is the best we have found.....

I loved the food from here, up until they changed the chicken, they now use the cheap pre cut cubes like the majority of Chinese

This is the best Chinese in south Birmingham. The food is hot tasty and they always use the best ingredients. As you can see from the picture they always fresh vegetables. Never go anywhere else. Portions are big too. Meal on the right is only half the portion.

DO NOT EAT HERE Feel absolutely sick to my stomach. I've used this place for over a year now. It's standards have been slipping, but nothing major. Just hit and miss whether or not it's nice. Ordered 2 chicken Currys tonight. Chicken was rotten. Literally rotten. Grey on the outside and black on the inside. Every single piece of chicken throughout both currys. Called to tell them I was bringing it back and they said it wasn't rotten, it was just dark meat from thighs etc. No. It's rotten. Walked it back for a full refund and showed them the chicken. Said they never noticed because it's only on the inside. IT'S ROTTEN FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I told him he's going to kill someone and he just looked at me. Seriously, I will never eat here again and I'll make sure everyone I knows doesn't either. Absolutely disgusting.

Nice curry but delivery why way too long and we are very local . The staff are very polite on the phone . for instance pop in one time for two bags of chips took nearly after an hour .....

Phoned to order for collection, they said it was closed even though google says it was open. I went there after and it was clearly open. 1 star is being very generous

I have tried different Chinese Take Aways up and down the country but NEW RUBY is by far the best. Be it your meal choice and cost both were excellent. I highly recommend any of the curry dishes and fried rice dishes, or any of the house specials. I find the portions are on the generous side compared to other Chinese Take Aways I have visted. Also if you spend over £10 they throw in a half portion of prawn crackers for free.

I have tried many Chinese take aways, but by far, new ruby is the best. Never had any problems and I've tried multiple dishes. I recommend, beef in black bean sauce, pork fried rice and duck fried rice and chow mein, with the duck they give you a layer of thick, beautiful meat on top. Absolutely amazing.

Place your order via phone or visit the shop... Your told to collect within a short period.. upon arrival at the shop, you pay... then produce your debit card only to then be told of a 50p surcharge... my order was £23.00 so not a small figure.. No signs in the shop warning of this.. the staff then suggest they prefer you to visit a cashpoint to pay cash.. Tax fiddle ? Hmmmm Why no warning signs ? Is this actually legal to do this ? I know its 50p but its principle.. Oh well.. i wont return..

Service utterly shocking... over an hour and a half waiting for food to be delivered, drive to the shop to find they haven't even started cooking it! Phoned and phoned and phoned... engaged! Got to the shop, tried to phoning them again, it's still engaged, but no phones are ringing!! Terrible, don't use them!

Pure quality food and has been for years

Hardly any wait when you collect but long sometimes for delivery seeing as it's good food and good prices it's popular. High / top cleanliness rating. You can pay by card which is rare for most Chinese Takeout locally friendly staff and warm waiting space. All good ;-)

They have messed up my order all night, we have been back and forth all night trying to get our order it's been a complete joke

Tried new ruby as our local closed for refurb. We Had king prawn chow mein (asked for it to be spicy, wasn't but that can be rectified) special foo young chips n curry sauce. Friendly staff, VERY IMPRESSED 👍will Definitely try again
