Ken Ho is an absolute gem in Birmingham! The food was exceptional, my personal favourites were the salt & pepper prawns and braised fish with tofu but what truly made the experience unforgettable was the outstanding service provided by Andrew. He was incredibly personable, attentive, and made us feel welcomed with our young child.

I had a wonderful belly filling experience at Ken Ho! Their dim sum is absolutely delicious, and every other dish I tried, especially the soup, really hit the spot. After a long and tiring day, the food here gave me the boost I needed and left me feeling relaxed and satisfied. The atmosphere is perfect for gatherings with friends or family, and the chefs clearly know what they’re doing. The staff were friendly, helpful, and cute. If you like this kind of Chinese food, you should definitely come and give it a try! Well, the chair did give me a bit of back pain, but I’m hanging in there, haha!

The restaurant that my family often visited when they were in school is said to have been open in Birmingham's Chinatown for more than 10 years, and business is still very good. When we went there, we had to queue for lunch. Probably because the boss is from Hong Kong, the products in the store taste quite authentic. If you want to try Cantonese morning tea, you can come here. The quicksand buns should be eaten while they are hot, as the fillings are really quicksandy. The dry-fried beef river tastes OK, but the disadvantage is that the rice noodles are broken a lot. The chicken of the Ge Ge Chicken was a bit lacking and not as tender as before. Maybe the chef didn't control the heat that day.

We went here prior to seeing the Hamilton matinee at the Hippodrome. The food was excellent and the beef was melt-in-the-mouth tender. The service was also very good. The restaurant was mainly occupied with Chinese people and that is a great recommendation. The only thing I would say is that they need to up the quality of some things. Plates need to be warm. They also need to get tablecloths and some real serviettes just to make it a bit grander and more upmarket.

If you’re hungry go for the set menu otherwise choose one or two dishes with some rice of your choice. Food was excellent and beautifully presented and cooked. We were 4 people & ordered starters and main course. We asked for tap water as we were recovering from flu. Water wasn’t provided till after the food was served. When we got the bill in the end, we were charged £2 for tap water. We raised this with the staff who said that as we did not have drinks, they have charged for only 1 glass each of tap water with no refills. We pointed out that all restaurants in UK should supply free tap water. The staff member took 5 minutes reading the directive and finally said, He will take £2 off on this occasion but will charge for tap water on our next visit. We were charged for take home box for spare food as well in the bill although he did not inform us when we first requested this.

I don’t usually post food reviews. However I have mixed feelings about the food. I had come with a friend and one of the set menu’s initially caught our attention as it described a variety of different dishes. Each dish in the menu got progressively worse. That was the sign of making you to leave. To conclude, this is not a good place to enjoy Chinese tea and the food was full of MSG seasoning favour. OK, seriously, two white boys turned up looking forward to an alternative to the usual Cantonese offering. Immediately we were offered knives and forks ( I was eating at The Happy Gathering in Hurst Street when I was 5, I'm now 48) So after politely decling and staying with our chopsticks, we were given the 'evening menu'. Sweet and sour and a basic szechuan sauce option. We chose the sweet and sour chicken, which was delicious. Then the scallop and chicken szechuan, which were OK but had no szechuan pepper heat or burn. Everyone else in the restaurant were eating dim sum and congee and noodles. Not offered on our menu. When I asked for the other menu, it looked amazing. I love China Town with a passion, please don't insult brummies with casual racism, we all want to support our diverse restaurant scene. It's why our city's food scene is thriving.

The food was amazing. The stir fry hofun and crispy squid were the star of the show. Hofun was flavourful with smokyness and just the perfect kind of soft texture to it. Crispy squid was so soft and melted as soon as you start chewing on to it. The dimsum variety we got were also amazing. Prawn dimsum usually has that off putting seafood smell but the ones from here were so good. I could write every detail about each dish we had but that'd be too long. This place worth waiting almost an hour for the table. Tips: They don't take table reservations. When you walk in you need to get a ticket from them to get in the queue. So it might seem like people are just walking toward the front of the queue but they're just getting their tickets to queue.

Kinda love this place, food was nice and the price was amazing. Friendly no fuss atmosphere too. And they had puer cha too so that’s a win in my book 💫💜💫

We have visited The Spice Exchange many times and never been disappointed. The restaurant is spacious, the tables elegant, with freshly laundered cloths. The food is always delicious: well cooked meat, fish & vegetables, with tasty sauces flavoured with different spices. On top of that, the service is amazing: professional yet friendly; individual yet detached. We always feel like welcome guests, in a huge family home where they remember our names and preferences, and offer the best advice when we can’t decide what we want. Definitely we recommend this restaurant 100%.
