New Lotus in Telford and Wrekin

I will not be going here again. Beef and mushroom was basically mushroom and onion with a tiny bit of beef. Chips and chicken balls were dark brown soaked in grease crunchy and obviously reheated from yesterday ( do you think your customers are mugs?) and the ribs were (what little meat was there) basically inedible tough and obviously 3 years old. All for £30

ordered some food tonight for collection and he said to get here in 5!! nothing but rude and arrogant always has an attitude! never again will i spend my money to a place that does not respect you and speaks to you like a piece of dirt!

Found a daddy long leg legs in my mushroom chowmain. Never order from here again. Absolutely disgusting

Was not happy with the chicken curry this time it is normal good but this time it was too hot. And never eat it was wasted of money. Didn't like pork and chicken with beanspouts had no taste so bin that. the chicken balls was ok will think again has to use them.

We tried this local takeaway for the 1st time last year and that meal was eatable. Second time I had Chicken Cantonese Style which was the worst Iv'e ever had anywhere. Hardly any chicken n overcooked batter n had to bin it. Gave it one last try this evening and wish we never bothered. We ordered chicken curry n boiled rice and the curry sauce was very greasy. The chicken balls we ordered and salt n pepper chicken wings were both totally disgusting and completely inedible. The chicken balls were not round as normally are and were boat shaped and the the batter was so so crispy and obviously had been reheated and the chicken inside was all stringy. The chicken wings were so overcooked that the chicken was all dried up n so was the batter on them. We also ordered chips which were fine. All I can say is not to waste your money here. Iceland do much better curries (if you like frozen ready meals) and at less than half the price. Read all the reviews.

I’m not impressed by Tesco yet these guys Lower the bar so much I hope I’m not foolish again to use them again the worst crusty duck I’ve ever faced. The ginger and spring onion king prawn and the chowmein was aweful I put £30 in the bin 🤢

Unfortunately the food has gone down hill and always get a tub full of onions rather that what you pay for .chips are like they are heated up from last week.iv been getting food from here for ages now but last 4 times haven't been good.not sure if changes of staff in the kitchen but it's rubbish...I can't waste anymore money

The food is more Taiwanese. It’s really heart-warming to have some hometown dishes among the European meals for many days🥰

Unfortunately I'm not happy tonight, food over the past few orders has really declined in quality, I used to order here a lot, and it was nice. I said last time if my food comes like this again I will stop using, and it has so this will be my last time ordering from here!

Ordered for collection and got there bang on time. My food was instantly handed over and it was cold (we live 5 minutes away). The curry sauce was gelatinous not a sauce. Chips felt and tasted like they’d been reheated. The rice was the best part of the whole meal and even that wasn’t pleasant. This is the second time I’ve used this takeaway in 6 months. The first time was fine. I will not be going back. Wish I’d read the reviews first.

Had a lovely meal from here. I use this place regularly as their curries are so nice. My partner loves the Chow mein from there also. I rang the order through and it was ready as soon as I arrived. Great Chinese takeaway and would recommend.

DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. RUDE RUDE RUDE! AVOID. Placed an oder via telephone. 4 people at this end listened to the conversation. Collected the order. 20 mile round trip. One entire meal was missing. We were prepared to revisit; another 20 mile round trip. So we called ahead to say part of the order was missing and we were going to return to collect. We were met with a LOUD and RUDE person on the end of the phone. He admitted he'd made a mistake, but in the same breath said we hadn't paid for the 4th meal. We asked for a total before we left the house to collect. We haven't got a menu, so wasn't aware the total was incorrect. He had read back our order to us and it was correct. He continued to be rude and did not allow us to speak. Shouting over someone so they can't be heard is plain RUDE. Our last local was also 10 miles away; Broseley House, fabulous takeaway, but has been shut for months now. If anyone reading this can recommend an excellent Chinese in and around the Telford/Shrewsbury area, I'd appreciate it. We have no takeaways on our doorstep, so we have to travel.

Dry dry dry....everything was dry. Chow mein dry. Mixed dim sum, ribs were so dry the meat on them was nasty. The spring rolls seemed over cooked. Prawn toast was over coked too and dry. Only used this one because overdale Chinese was closed, never again.

Called back when delivery was 30 minutes late - got such a bad, arrogant rude attitude from the telephone minder… he told me order was cancelled. The one stars I rated are OVER rated. A H

Order food a few times from there and both times it's been bad customer service can not fault but won't be ordering from there again

I ordered sweet n sour King Prawn in batter the batter was that thick it wasn't cooked inside meal wasted won't be going again.

I've always loved this place but the only thing that annoys me is why have a phone number on your menu if we can't use it to place orders? they just tell you to go the website where you have to pay 50p just to place an order. Feels like I'm just paying to run their website and I like to telephone my orders. Society has become distant enough since covid and I don't use just eat because they rip off both the customer and the restaurants. I'm actively trying to support local restaurants directly and it just seems insane they won't take orders on the phone.. why pay to have a phone line if we can't use it to make orders? I'm just saying it's nice to speak to a human after society pretty much avoided itself for 2 years. The food is always amazing though and I cannot fault the quality 😎

Answering the phone and walking off half way through me ordering was more important than my order. Whatever happened to old fashioned customer service? Rude at best, won't get a second chance.

This Chinese was our regular for ages with multiple orders a week. We have had a issue in the past that was resolved. This eve our food has been delivered and its all cold. I have called the restaurant to be met with abuse and telling me that no one else complained tonight. He then told me he would replace the order but would not accept future orders from us. Disgusting customer service considering the amount of money we have spent here. Seems they are all take take take. Highly recommend people avoid this Chinese and go else where

Good food, cheaper delivery than just eat

Rude staff waited over a hour and a half for my delivery and when I called to ask where it is I got shouted at by a very rude man. Don't order from here unless you want to wait hours for food

Ordered for the first time as my usual takeaway is closed. The worst food I’ve ever received, totally inedible and nothing like it should be. These people have absolutely no idea what a particular dish should contain or taste like. Why can’t I leave 0 stars???

We've been using the New Lotus about once every 3 weeks for the last 3 years as we loved the food. Unfortunately tonights meal was well below standard and if this had been our first visit it would have also been our last. I don't know if they've changed their food supplier or their chef but whatever it is they need to get back to the standards and tastes we've enjoyed over the last 3 years. I'll give them one more chance before finding another Chinese if they've not improved.

Only take cash, clearly on a tax fiddle. Had to go to dawley cash machine and pay another £1.25. What business in 2022 doesn’t take card?….. actually I’ll rephrase that….what legitimate business doesn’t take card in 2022. Food was 5/10

Food arrived cold curry was really thick and not very flavoursome spare ribs had Hardly any meat ordered with BBQ sauce and tasted nothing like it won't be ordering again.

Where to start, positive, 40 mins to wait, and food was hot Negative, ask for roast pork and was given chicken..the curry sauce taste like it made from a packet, taste like powder. The chips are horrible and taste like they been warmed in the microwave. Shame,

Ordered prawn balls and received some prawn and some chicken balls, as a pescatarian this is an issue and of the 9 balls supplied we could not eat 7 of them and had to give them to them to the stray cats.

We ordered King Prawn balls but received a mix of chicken and prawns. I'm a pescatarian so do not eat meat. Really unhappy with our order tonight, please do better in the future. I'm not sure we will be ordering from you again. On the plus side I'm sure the local cats will like the chicken.

So we asked for prawn fried rice with mushrooms, prawn fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls. We got curry instead of sweet and sour sauce and the mushrooms were never to be found. Not happy at all especially after we made it clear as water what we wanted.

My favourite takeaway in Dawley. It's the only place where I always order the same thing.

After trying several different Chinese around telford stumbled on this one and can say honestly the best I have had in a long time food is delicious will be using more often

Without a doubt the best Chinese food I've ever had on a plate , I usually order the same but the food is so well cooked I've wondered off around the menu .. absolutely outstanding .. the delivery service is great too .. 12/10

10 years of fast good food, now 2 hour wait cold inedible food!! Chicken curry?? Raw onion and rice more like!! Marbles do better food and they're closed down.

14 months we have searched for a chinese here in Dawley. Tonight the search is over. Food was hot when delivered (early) , flavorful and not greasy.

Food was disgusting chicken curry and rice chicken was pink and raw in the middle phoned to complain was rudely toldthat they would no longer deliver to me for complaining

Had this takeaway last week for my sister's birthday. Great customer service and food was delivered slightly earlier than expected. Food tasted great with good portion sizes for a decent price. Everything you want from a chinese takeaway- highly recommend

Nothing 'out of this world', but is tasty and consistent, been using them for years and and have never been dissapointed. Prices are fair and portions are generous. Our order is always simple andthe same, we order ahead of time, usually around 8-9pm when we assume they are less busy, and online which gets you points and they send you generous vouchers to use on your next order. Delivery is always on time and hot! Glad to see they have drastically improved the hygiene rating recently, as when I found out what it used to be I very nearly stopped using them. But I honestly have never had a problem.

Awful meal, egg fried rice, no egg, rice brown, well dirty brown, beef in mushrooms was mushrooms in beef, I had 3/4box of mushrooms shocking, chicken balls was very nice but for a simple meal which I paid £11.10 for and gave a tip, won't be happening again, bring back Bruce.

Rang to ask if the mushrooms was garlic mushrooms they said yes and they wasn't they was mushrooms out the tin. The curry was just curry powdered vile bitter and the chips was brown

Had to return to the shop to collect my missing rice so the chips were cold by the time I got to eat the food. Curry was spicy with plenty of meat, but the sauce was very stodgy(maybe because it wasn't eaten straight away). I wouldn't recommend or use again.

Never had a bad meal there in all the years I've been going had a king prawn chow main tonight and it was so tasty 😋😋

First time using new lotus today and very disappointed. The food was nice but it took an hour and forty minutes to arrive after being told it would be an hour and then my eight year old daughter had to spit out her food because her food was contaminated with wire wool. I spoke to the manager who wasn’t interested at all.

Curry sauce is ok. Chips nice. But the chicken is like jelly cheap chicken. I been 3 times gave it a chance but never again

Well I’ve been here lots and it’s been nice but this was the most disgusting curry sauce ever that I’ve tasted it actually tasted like hand gel don’t even bother I called them to let them know as to be real honest it as ruined my whole meal what a waste of money don’t even bother.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice, guess what no sweet sour sauce, rang up and told them, 20 mins later sauce arrived, guess what dinner was stone cold. What a waste of money. To make matters worse bloke didn't care said kitchen was busy and I'll get it out as soon as I can

Quick delivery and hot, but probably the worst chinese I have ever had. Beef with beansprouts. Few slices of beef on top of copious amount of beensprouts with a gravy over the top. No onions, seasoning, not even cooked together.. and didn't taste like chinese. Very disappointed

The beef in black bean sauce is particularly delicious. Generous amounts of chicken in the chow mein, every time. Egg fried rice is gorgeous. Staff are always very polite and delivery is always very quick. Prices are some of the fairest I've seen around. As an extremely picky eater, I'll come back again and again if the food stays this good.

First and last time of ordering from here. The chips were tasteless. The bbq sauce was orange and tasted nothing like bbq sauce at all. A complete waste of £24.

After eating at a Chinese takeaway from the same area for many years I decided to change after seeing some horrifying things online So after a long time going through different reviews I decided on new lotus and I'm not disappointed!! The meals were fresh hot and very tasty!! I'm actually gutted I didn't eat here years ago I'm so happy I decided to order from new lotus you guys have now got a loyal customer for life thank you very much!

Have used this Chinese twice now & the food is nice! It’s not greasey or weird textured meat like some I have tried. Also the customer service is great as they forgot our cans of coke & drove all the way back to Lawley to drop them off which we really appreciated :) delivery driver was really nice & smiley, will be returning!
