I went here for dinner with my wife. As we approached the landlady was smoking on the doorstep and she flicked the butt into the weeds. No greeting as we walked in from the landlady. The staff were friendly though. I ordered spicy chicken breast and my wife ordered sea bass. The chicken looked like a frozen ready meal, but not as appetising. When it arrived the waitress had to keep stopping, despite wearing oven gloves, because the plates were too hot to handle. The chicken tasted deep-fried and microwaved (not sure how they managed that). The sea bass was oily and accompanied by soggy veg. A truly shocking experience and right up there with the worst pub food we've ever had.

Having tried to book at the brewery pub in Rosedale where we were left in no doubt they couldn’t cater for us we went to the New Inn. We were welcomed by some very friendly staff and ordered our drinks, all beers were excellent and service very good. We ordered gammon (cold ham), steak pie, chicken burger and fish and chips. The service was excellent and the food was ok. Really enjoyed the steak pie, F&C was ok but fish a bit tasteless, the chicken was spicy but rather than having gammon steal it was cold ham. No complaints, enjoyed our meal and great service.

There are 2 options on the menu small plates at £8 and normal at £12.50 be careful unlike us we received the small fish and chips for 3 and small lasagne for 2 yet was charged the full price. At the time we was not sure of the portion control of The New Inn but after investigation we now realise we had been overcharged by £22.50. We all live within 15 miles and will not be recommending The New Inn at Veryan to our family and friends.

Arrived mid week and luckily there was a spare table, We may have been unlucky but in my opinion the fish n chips we both had were only Ok, soggy batter being the issue along with a hefty £12.50 price tag. The proprietor of the guest house we were staying recommended The Ship in Portloe and the New Inn, and said the New INn had the edge. Having eaten at the New Inn the previous evening I can only concur.

Ordered the soup of the day, cauliflower soup, £5.50, and it was terrible. Either it was made from a rotten cauliflower and just boiled water OR it was several days old and had been left to ferment. It is not hard to make cauliflower soup, especially with home made chicken stock from a busy restaurant. Then freeze the soup in individual portions and thaw and heat as required, especially with a small knob of butter floating in the hot soup. But no, this soup was disgusting. My friend's crab salad was nothing special - the portion of crab was small and the 'salad' was non-existent, more a garnish on the side of the plate. Overall, great Tribute beer but left with the overwhelming feeling that main objective of the 'food' was to make as much profit as possible per dish.

Visited this pub twice whilst staying in the area. Lovely food. Special nights were great. Two fish and chips for £15 which were delicious. The batter was so light. Really tasty. Burgers were great though the chicken burger was pretty boring. Friendly staff and accommodating for our party of six. Busy pub though. We were lucky to get the table. This pub allows dogs in which I find unhygienic (just my personal opinion). One customer allowed their dog to sit on the chair which isn't considerate at all. They were told to move it though by the staff. Not sure we would visit again as the menu was quite limited.

However if you are doing it for a main course and charging £6 extra, please give extra salad to make it look like a main course! We then had a cheese platter for two for £10. Typical country pub, nice welcome from both staff and locals. Dined there two nights running. On the 2nd night there was a bit of a mix up as we thought that we had booked for 8.00pm but the pub had us booked in for 7.00pm, but they accommodated us affably. One thing that I did like is that they do smaller main meals for children or a "lighter appetite" which I took advantage of. Didn't try a dessert as a couple on a table nearby had one and it looked huge (although didn't enquire as to whether they did smaller desserts for children or for a "lighter appetite"). Enjoyed both meals (both fish) although felt that the menu was a tad limited (fancied chicken, none on the menu).

I had an excellent meal last week at the New Inn. I was particularly pleased to see small / light meals on the menu, meaning I could have a starter and main without being too full. Well done the New Inn! I would have given this pub an "Excellent" rating if it had not been that I had to sit in the middle of room. Being a solo traveler, I felt a bit self-conscious and although I had requested a table at the side - and been told the side tables were reserved (as was mine) - nobody showed up during the hour I spent there. My meal was unfortunately slightly ruined too by the lady sitting at the next table with a really hacking cough. Otherwise though, a great pub and one I regularly enjoy.

We were surprised at the standard of cooking, far better than you would expect from a wee village pub, it put some expensive restaurants to shame. I also tried the prawn cocktail special, very good, while my wife had the risoto. As other reviewers have said, the menu consists of a few dishes done well. However, it might not be for everyone. Being near the sea, the menu contains a number of seafood dishes. Other non-veg dishes are beef. This is completed with a handful of vegetarian options. So while it will suit most peoples tastes, it might not be for everyone. While I would recommend it to other travellers, I may not visit again due to my dietary requirements.

We came twice in our recent visit to the area. It's a small characterful pub, serving good food - you may need to book especially if you want to eat earlier in the evening. The menu is not long: they've (correctly, IMHO) gone for the option of having a short list of things they can do well - but it's also worth checking the specials board, particularly for the local fresh fish. One simple test of whether the food is any good in a place like this is to check the vegetables: here they were very nicely done, not the soggy mess you'll find in lesser places. Recommended.

We visited the New Inn on three occasions during a short break in Cornwall. The menu is written on a large blackboard with the daily specials on another board. Quite varied choices with the specials being generally more interesting than the standard offer. With the exception of a rather tasteless chilli con carne all the meals were tasty and represented good value for money. Special mention must be made of the homemade lemon cheesecake and the incredibly generous portion size of the cheese and biscuits!!Worth a visit.

We ate here for 2 consecative nights and had two very memorable meals for all the right reasons. We were made to feel very Welcome and relaxed with a table by the Wood BurnerI ordered Beer Battered Cod and by partner had the Scampi, we shared a portion of Smoked Sprats as a Starter. We finished off with a Chocolae Torte. The second night we started by sharing Grilled Goats Cheese with Sun Dried Tomatoes followed by Liver and Mash with Onion Gravy and Scallops and Prawn Stir Fry on a bed of Rice. All the food was delicious and the Service from everyone was Excellent. There was a good range of drinks and we enjoyed the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo wine very muchTotal cost each including drinks £20. Wonderful

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
