New Himalaya Tandoori in Central Bedfordshire

I eat there often plus takeout, staff very friendly, food always of good quality and I often get extra popperdoms ! Food reasonably priced also.

We have ordered from this restaurant via Just Eat twice, and both times they have accepted the order then 40+ mins later phoned to cancel saying there’s no drivers. Terrible!!!

The order took longer than expected to arrive and the delivery driver gave us someone else’s order - which we discovered when we unpacked the food - and he was long gone. It was too late to put in a new order, and we couldn’t take it to the people whose order it was, so we ate some of the food. It was as poorly labelled as usual and the quality wasn’t up to standard. When our friend who’d ordered it rang to complain this morning he was told it was nothing to do with him and that he should complain to just eat. Our friend explained that his contract was with the restaurant - and the person at the restaurant said ‘do you think you’re a lawyer’, laughed and put the phone down. We have been regular customers. Never again.

I was there with my wife to see my father and his partner after two years due to covid. We live overseas. The restaurant was empty when we arrived .Two more came in later. We ordered just main courses with starter poppadum's two bottle of wines and beer the total for 4 was 95 pounds The standard of food was very average . The ingredients did not look fresh and everything had a synthetic feel to it and poor quality meat, We wanted to be just served but the waiter was listening to our conversations and taking over Remember we had not see them for 2 years. The waiter kept interrupting I know just being friendly but we wanted some peace His personal hygiene was also very poor Coughing and spluttering Remember we have just had two years of Covid !! So all in all the restaurant needs to buck its ideas up ! A very underwhelming experience .

The restaurant was quiet and friendly with a good atmosphere. The service was attentive and punctual, and the food arrived in good time. The food was well presented and very tasty. We will be returning to try other choices on the menu.

Delicious meal ! Never go anywhere else ! Fresh and tasty , lamb shaslik is always very good. Friendly, welcoming and lovely.

our Daughters birthday, we ordered the day before to ensure we got through and ordered for a time. one veggie meal Shobzi Silsila , CTM, Sag Paneer Pasanda chicken and Chef's sizzler. Usual nan breads, Bombay Aloo (a must), it was delivered promptly with the bottles of beer and tasted fantastic.

The buffet had good quality tasty food with a great variety of different dishes from really mild korma to spicy jalfrezi. They also have cobra beer on tap. I will definitely visit this restaurant again . The price at 8.95 was very reasonably.

For the second time our takeaway order has been declined but this time it was cancelled only 5 minutes before it was due to arrive after waiting an hour. Excuse was embarrassing and they hung up the phone before I had chance to challenge the cancellation. Not impressed and will not be using them again, very disappointing and I can’t begin to express our frustration as I’ve been a customer for the past 25 years.

I love the Himalaya. I grew up in Leighton Buzzard and remember it fondly and it is the first place I return to when I come home. Service is friendly and efficient and food delicious. The dhansak is particularly good. Portions are generous and it is very good value for money.

I spent the weekend in Leighton Buzzard and went for a meal on a Saturday night. The restaurant was fairly busy and seems to be popular for eating in and take aways. I ordered my meal and it took around 15 minutes to arrive and was of a very good quality. If I return to Leighton Buzzard I would definitely return to this restaurant and would highly recommend it.

Onion Bhaji for starters were very good with a tasty side salad The Chicken Dansak was excellent, the chicken was tender and well mixed into the sauce Staff very friendly and gave enough time for courses to digest before serving the next course Well worth a visit

A good buffet on a Sunday although not all of the meat is to my particular taste. Very friendly staff and a good variety of drinks.

We ordered our normal Saturday takeaway and decided to try some where new. Oh my we were not disappointed! Wonderful food...The lamb was cooked to perfection, nanns HUGE and giant onion bhajis and all was delivered hot! Happy bellies makes happy people. Highly recommended 100% our new go to Indian Thank you ☺️

I visit this restaurant every time I am in Leighton Buzzard. Food is delicious and service friendly and efficient. A really wonderful place.

Nice bombay aloo curry, pleasent atmosphere and good service. Not too expensive either which is good.

So this is my local and favourite curry house in Leighton. Booked for over 20 people on a Saturday. A preorder had to be given which was easier rather than having to have a set menu for so many. The staff excelled themselves. Food was all bought out at the same time and it was up to their normal high standard. Staff are very friendly. As it was a large party we decided everyone order drinks at the bar which they never had to wait for. Some guests had never eaten here but were so impressed they have said they will return. Thank you to all the staff for making this evening an amazing experience.

It was rather basic and dull. The poppadoms and sauces were lovely but the curries were a bit of a let down. Nothing horrendous but nothing blew me away either. We won't be returning.

Recently returned from India having had some wonderful food and two occasions lamb biryani so thought I'd pop to my local Indian and buy a lamb biryani. no comparison whatsoever frankly . lamb biryani at the himalaya Tandoori restaurant doesn't come close to what I had in India. shame.

Tried this place for the first time and what s lovely restaurant it is.

Today we went out with family and friends for a meal. We ordered our food and it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for our starters to arrive. We were extremely disappointed when they eventually came out, because they were ice cold. Having seven of the party being kids this was not on. One of the children was actually sick on the way home as a result of this. When asking to complain to the manager, we were told that the manager is only here on a Friday and Saturday. Over all it was not a good experience and would not suggest to go on any other day apart from a Friday and Saturday when the manage is there.

I know this is my third review of this place, but I have lost track on how visits to the place I have made.

Probably my favourite Indian restaurant in LB. Good food, good value. Good atmosphere, friendly staff.

Lovely bright, airy, spacious restaurant with great friendly staff and delicious food. It's more like going to see an old friend again than a visit to a restaurant. Love everything about this place. Definitely worth a visit.

I visited on a busy Saturday eve for a family birthday celebration. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with a good selection available for children. Although the restaurant was full the service was excellent with no delay. Very reasonable prices

We visited as a group of 5 for my sisters birthday. We all live Indian food and have been here a handful of times over the years but not very recently. The food was fantastic, we all ordered differently from each other yet still managed to have food envy!!! We had 2 sharing platters between the 5 of us to start and a mix of curries, biryanis, rices, naans and sides. I asked for my jalfrezi to be hot and they were happy to accommodate (it was indeed hot, and very delicious) the sides were also amazing, the sag paneer in particular was fantastic! The portion sizes were good (we took leftovers home for a yummy take two tomorrow) definitely recommend this curry house, the food was delicious and perfectly seasoned, the staff are friendly and the price is reasonable.... 5 people = £135 and this included poppadoms, starters, 5 mains, 3 rice, 3 naans, 4 sides, jug of mango lassi and a bottle of wine! Definitely visiting again!!

I have eaten here many times and thought it time to give it the praise it deserves. Staff are great, friendly and helpful with a bit of banter. Good varied menu, I personally love the chefs sizzler which will be made to suit your heat preference ;-)

Good choice of Menu. My son is Gluten intolerant and the owner was very helpful in explaining all menus with the G he must avoid. All meals were served promptly and were very tasty.

Decided to Visit last Saturday with family early evening. Staff welcome , didn’t have to wait for a table for 6, although if we went later I think we would have struggled as the place filled up quickly. Always a good sign!!! Food good , service good, atmosphere good. Would certainly visit again.

Visited with colleagues on a Tuesday Night. First time in my life I have ever had a meal being the only people in there throughout. It was very quiet indeed. Décor is pleasant, staff are friendly. Owner decided to have more than one conversation with our group. A really friendly chap indeed. Service was great, but its difficult to compare against anything with no one else dining. Prices are reasonable. Food was as ordered and was nice and tasty.

This was our second visit to the Himalaya. We've tried eating in and take out and both are excellent. We'll certainly be back.

Este sábado nos llamaron a la puerta y cuando mi madre contestó que el chico de la puerta les dijo que habían comprado una cortesía para llevar ojalá mi padre. Qué cosa que hacer. Muchas gracias a todos gente encantadora en el Himalaya. Que nunca se sabe lo mucho que significa.

Fuimos una familia en una noche de martes para celebrar el 37 cumpleaños de mi hijo th y nos sorprendió descubrir que éramos los únicos clientes. El servicio es bueno, la comida era excelente y el personal amable. Vale la pena el modesto a pie desde el centro de la ciudad para comer aquí. Sin duda vamos a aquí para nuestro próximo 'India'.

Me encanta este lugar. He estado visitando desde que era un adolescente y nunca decepciona. Ahora estoy teniendo mis propios hijos y me encanta. Mi hijo trató el jalfrezi que le encantó y yo tenía que dhansak es uno de los mejores que he probado nunca. Precios razonables y los camareros y amable y eficiente.

Ordered a take away from the Himalaya and it was delicious. The food tasted very fresh and the chicken in my tikka massala was beautifully soft. Definitely my new favourite curry house in town - and there are a fair few to choose from! The only small negative was that my husband's chicken bhuna was not as spicy as he would have liked. The naan breads - a plan and peshwari - were delicious and not greasy like at some Indian restaurants.

Eaten in the restaurant and always order our take away deliveries from here.We have phoned the restaurant on 4 occasions after eating the take away to congratulate them on the quality of the food, it is excellent.

We have used this restaurant for many years for both take away and eating in. The quality of food is always very good. However waiting time is too often unacceptable. We placed a take away order for 6 people Saturday evening at 6:50 which is a busy time for a restaurant so a quoted delivery time of 45-60 minutes was acceptable. 95 minutes and two phone calls later we received our order. When we started to serve the food we found we were missing two main dishes which were delivered 15 minutes later. Our dinner party was spoiled by false promises of delivery time and order management. .

Had not been here for years nothing really has changed still very clean and a nice warm atmosphere with a good choice of dishes

I was in Leighton buzzard for the weekend to meet a friend. My friend recommend an Indian, so I searched up Indian restaurant on trip advisors and I stumbled across the New Himalaya Tandoori. What can I say it was absolutely amazing from the moment I walked in. The waiting stuff was immaculate, the food was outstanding I had one their house specials and it was one the best curry dishes I've had in a long time except from my local curry house The curry Bengal in Horley which is amazing but this was a close second. I would definitely come again.

We went to the New Himalaya with friends. As usual we were warmly received and shown to our table. We were soon brought our drinks and our food order was taken. When the meal arrived it was served personally to each of us. The food was delicious as always and our every need attended to by our friendly and helpful waiter. The dining experience was fantastic and I really rate the food and taste. Highly recommended.

My family and I often get take aways from here. My daughter loves their chicken tikka korma. The food is tasty and of good value. You certainly get plenty of it. We usually collect as you get a discount and the food is always ready and piping hot when we arrive. The staff are lovely, very friendly. We've also eaten in the restaurant a few times which has been good also. Although the service can be a little slow, as they are so busy on take away orders. Would definitely recommend this place and we will certainly continue to get our Indian take aways from there.

great meal from work, 8 of us had shared starters which were really individual and subtley flavoured - tikka samosas were a complete win.good curry, great rice and breads. overall good curry house.

Attended a Charity Fund Raiser for SSAFA as Council Chairman. The meal was an excellent buffet with plenty of choice and large portions since it was self service! The staff were excellent and very friendly. I was lucky to have the first ticket drawn in the raffle so won a meal for 2 donated by the restaurant. We are really looking forward to it

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 10 years. We normally get great food and good service. Last nights meal was very disappointing the food itself was good but the service was terrible. There were only 2 tables including ourselves and we spent nearly 2.5 hours for starters/main meal. One of the staff members was ok but the other came across as rude, whether this was intended or not isn't really the point. We were also charged for drinks which we didn't have, this was corrected before I paid. I won't be in a hurry to return.

This is without a doubt the best Sunday buffet in town. When we last went the choice of dishes was excellent the service great go on give it a Sunday buffet try.

An hour after ordering the delivery driver rang asked where we lived I explained and sent him a Google maps location. Forty minutes later after calling him twice hadn't turned up. Rang the restaurant and they said he has just left and will be with you in 10 minutes. I explained he called some 40 minutes earlier and that I wasn't happy with my food sitting around for 40 minutes was told to call back if the food was bad. 20 minutes later the restaurant call me and say do you still want the food we are really busy and can't find you. Disgusting customer service as regular customers to the restaurant this really saddens me but I will never step foot in this restaurant again.

Visited on a Friday night. Not that busy. Food was very good. The waiter suggested I tried a special version of a Korma and it was really nice. Staff were freindly. We will be visiting again.

Always get our indian take-away from the Himalaya! Large portions, and always delivered hot and on time. My favourite is a peshwari naan dipped into a Lamb Passanda - delicious! Have never had a bad meal from this restaurant.

We've been to several other local curry houses but always come back here, usually slightly confused as to why we bothered going anywhere else...The food is absolutely top notch, and a very fair price for the shear volume that they serve up. The guys at the front of house are always super friendly, efficient and attentive. I can't recommend it highly enough, plus free delivery if you can be bothered to put trousers on, win!

Very welcoming and very attentive staff. We visited here for dinner on a mid-week evening. The food was very good quality and was served promptly. Definitely worth a visit! With a tastecard make sure you call and book a table in advance and be clear on what the deals are. We'll definitely be visiting again!

I have been a regular customer of this restaurant for a number of years and have always enjoyed the food and found the staff very helpful and polite but on my last two visits thing have taken a real step in the wrong direction. We visited with two friends for a meal and know the place have a banquet night on several nights in the week with so many dishes for a set price, but try enquiring what you can order of if indeed this was one of the nights they have a banquet night and the staff play dumb and pretend they don't understand what you are asking. Sadly this is not the first time I've been treated like this, it happened on a previous occasion. It seems they put the offer up on the outside of the building just to entice you in, but once in, shrug their shoulders and leave you having to pay the full price for dishes. There is also no mention of banquet nights in the menu so you would have to leave your seat and go outside with the waiter to explain what you are talking about and still probably have him deny they ever have banquet nights which when you are with a party of 4 makes it very difficult. Strange attitude of staff at present and needs to change or else there's a lot of choice to eat elsewhere, which i may have to consider in future. Don't take us for mugs!!. Other than my annoyance the food is always v.good.

My first time here as I am not local. I was taken here by my friends as they live just up the road and have been going here for years..... So I went with their recommendation.I can honestly say that this is up there with the best curry I have here had. When ordering my food the waiter also added a personal touch and made suggestions to try different things which was great!My mate wanted something that wasn't on the menu and this was also no bother at all!Nice restaurant, great service and fantastic food! I will definitely be asking my friends to take me back!

I grew up in Leighton Buzzard and visited this restaurant often as a teenager. I was thrilled to visit recently with my own children and find it just a appealing as ever. Service is efficient, food delicious and prices very fair. One of the best curries I have had for a long time and my children were made to feel welcome. I would recommend this restaurant highly and will visit again whenever I am in the area.

The Sunday buffet was excellent value and the food first class,they also do a very good takeaway service. This is a very good Indian restaurant and a great place for family and friends to eat.

Our elderly neighbour who refers to us as 'The A Team' took 14 of us out for a thank you meal on Fri 18 December 2005. We were well received by the manager and quickly shown to our seats.The waiters were very attentive and the drinks ordered were served with smoothe efficiency. The meals and there was quite a variety were served and it was delicious. Couldn't fault it.The restaurant is clean and warm and has a great ambiance. Without exception all of our party thoroughly enjoyed the meal and left happy. Thoroughly recommend this house.

Booked a table at 18:00 for 19:30, short notice, the food was stunning! Can not recommend the food enough! Beautiful!!!

We decided to have a Indian takeaway on Monday 19 Oct. We ordered it over the phone and I drove down to collect it. Having got it back home we saw what a good meal we were going to enjoy. There was onion salad and a couple of pompadoms as well as chutney and yoghurt sauce which were gratis and made a good starter. The main meal was absolutely delicious and well worth the cost. We use this restaurant on a regular basis both to eat in and takeaway's. We always get superb service and great food. Highly recommended.

After visiting this restaurant with my family for my mums birthday, we experienced a few good aspects of the visit however it was mainly disappointing. When arriving at the restaurant with my family, I tried to give a birthday cake to a member of staff for my mums birthday, and straight away had it snatched off me from who I was assuming was the manager, who didn't seem interested to listen to anything I was going to explain about it. We then sat down and throughout the night received very cold and abrupt service, especially from the manager. When eating the main meal we discovered some of the chicken being served was processed and we weren't made aware of this before ordering. When we then confronted the manager he repeatedly denied the fact that the chicken wasn't fresh and from being a waitress myself, I knew he wasn't being truthful with us.We then asked for the birthday cake after the meal, which took around 15 minutes to receive, which was quite disappointing. Over all it was a very below average night and I can't imagine myself returning anywhere in the near future.

I've visited the Himalaya on and off now for around 20 years or so and although admittedly having ups and downs on occasion, there is no denying this is the best curry in town. I have been to all other curry houses in Leighton Buzzard, but for taste, flavour, quality there is no beating the Himalaya.

A table of four that were a mix or regulars and visitors to the area. Sadly was not impressed. Starters of chilli strips that no heat whatsoever. Mains were not that great either. Generally alright but slow service and the chilli meals did not live up to their competitors. Would I return ? ... Let's see what else is about first.

As a frequent visitor of the Himalayan I asked Ambi the manager if he will cater for my grandsons christening which was held at a church not too far. The whole process from planning the menu to the execution of the plan went so smoothly.The food was so delicious and fresh and all the guests thoroughly enjoyed the chicken Jalfrazi and the chicken Silsila with various other bits. Many many thanks Ambi and to your amazing chefs . You must be so proud of them !!!!

Have been coming to the Himalaya since I was a kid, the staff are so friendly and always stop for a chat and to recommend new dishes etc. In my opinion the mark of a good Indian is how well they can cook Chicken Tikka and with every other restaurant I go to I always compare with the Himalaya's; some have come close, but no other has beaten theirs for taste and quality - we're talking some seriously tender chicken here!I love trying new restaurants, especially Indian's, but you can't beat having somewhere to eat where you know the food is going to be faultless, and the service will leave you with a smile on your face.Not really much more to say except GO! You honestly wont regret it.

Have eaten in the Himalaya more times than I Could care to mention. The menu is extensive so you will always get something to suit your pallet. Staff are great and the food 99 times out of a hundred is very good. As with all restaurants they sometimes get it wrong however if you tell them they put it right. This is the best indian for miles around and believe me I have tried out many others but keep coming back to the Himalaya.

We are regular visitors to this restaurant.Excellent menu, and competive pricing.Well worth a visit. Friendly management who actually recognise you as a regular customer.

Had a takeaway from here for three of us. The meal was delicious, especially the lamb shank, very tender and tasty. Only complaint was that the free poppadoms tasted a bit weird, as if they were cooked in old fat or stale. It was unfortunate as I think they were free with the meal as I don't think any of us ordered them. Shame

We stayed in Linslade for the week and after reading the reviews and asking locals, decided to try the Himalaya for a birthday meal.We waited 20 minutes for the starters which were awful. Garlic Mushrooms were tinned/boiled and had no flavour and the Prawn Cocktail was still frozen so we finished our drinks and left.Very disappointing.

I work all over the country and this has to be one of my favorite restaurants. I have never had a bad meal there and the owner has tempted me off my normal order much to my delight by recommending other dishes.

Late evening visit to the new Himalaya having eaten there several times in the past. The waiter service is good and is not intrusive. There are several dishes here that are not on the usual boring standard Indian restaurant menu found elsewhere. For those less adventurous, the conventional curries are on hand as required. The food was served hot and the flavours were not blended to the point of adding more chilli powder which make a change from some of the curry houses I have over the years visited. I look forward to my next visit.

In Leighton buzzard we have a fair few Indian restaurants but I have to say that this restaurant now really has it all right. Service is always great food always lovely by far the best Indian restaurant in town.

I hesitate to write a review about the New Himalaya because it's been a couple of years since I've been there--I spent 20+ years in the Leighton Buzzard area but now live in Australia.However, let me put my affection for the New Himalaya this way: before moving to Aus our farewell dinner was with friends and, we we paid a visit back to the UK, we landed at Heathrow, picked up a hire car, drove to Leighton Buzzard and were in the Himalaya by 7PM. That's how much we rate their food and their friendly service. Oh, and we had a week in Mumbai on the way back to the UK!Seriously, the family that runs the restaurant has been the same for many years and are incredibly friendly, welcoming and efficient. The food uses the freshest ingredients wonderfully prepared--and, as per a review above, their chef is good enough that he can provide off-menu dishes or "tweak" others to taste. For example, my wife likes the spice mix in the Ceylon but sometimes wants it a bit hotter--the kitchen was always happy to provide a curry customised just for her.My personal favourite is the Jalfrezi--very hot but still with a layered mix of flavours. The heat comes from tiny fresh chilis but with a fresh ginger background flavour. Delicious!Much as I love Queensland, I want a New Himalaya curry. Tonight.

I have been to most of the Indian restaurants and this is definitely one of the best. The owner is so helpful and accommodating as are the staff. And the food... well, being an indian I can tell what's authentic and what's not and this is. So so so recommended!

I won't waste your time here - this is the best Indian food in Leighton. Try the Silsila its to die for. Great service, great atmosphere and superb food. Go eat.

Can't rave about this place enough but be warned that as a group I have found that the wait between ordering and food arriving can be quite long.....

I've been going here for years and have never had a meal that wasn't brilliant! I highly recommend that you dine at the Himalaya.

We went to this place as a special occasion and were not disappointed. The service was attentive but not too much so, the food was generous and as I would expect, the decor came as a surprise, very original. We will go again for sure.

We have been eating at the Himalaya for over ten years and the food is always excellent. The owner is so friendly and always offers a warm welcome. I have never had a disappointing meal and would recommend it whole heartedly. .. they have a party room, a separate eating area for large groups which is lovely if you are celebrating something. Prices are reasonable and the food is always freshly prepared and cooked. I love the kushboo curry, it isn't on the new menu but if you ask they will happily make it for you, it's a lovely aromatic dish with lots of cinnamon. Delightful!

I visited the restaurant on a quiet Monday night with my cousin after a few beers. We are both food-loving 45 year old blokes with big appetites! It being a Monday night, we were, for most of our meal, the only customers in this tastefully decorated, medium sized restaurant. However, this did not seem to affect either the warm welcome or the quality of the food.The menu is extensive, offering several speciality dishes I had not encountered before. We decided to take the chef's advice and he chose a delicious variety of starters and main courses. All of the food seemed extremely fresh and well cooked, with sharp, distinct flavours. Each curry had its own, very distinctive taste, appearnce and texture, rather than the homogenous selection of oily sludge that is on offer all too often.I cannot say that this was amongst the very best Indian meals I've eaten but it is certainly very good and head and shoulders above anything else I've had in Leighton Buzzard,

my Wife and I regularly visit this restaurant and are NEVER let down...The food is always prepared, cooked and presented to a high standard and full of flavour.I totally recommend the Aloo Dhan (Chef's Specials). The combination of minced lamb and tandori chicken are "off the hook". I never get bored of eating it..My wife had the Chilli Garlic Chicken Bhuna...total winner!! Added to that side orders we had the whole meal was superb and we always leave stuffed and happy.Added to the food the staff are very friendly and attentive.I always recommend this restaurant to friends and family, and the recommendation is always "on the money".You have to try it...

Been coming here for countless years. It has consistently provided exceptional curries and friendly staff. I have never had a bad experience at the restaurant and gave tried the majority of the menu (superb variety, recommend the house specials). highly recommend going here if living in leighton buzzard or surrounding areas.

I may be slightly biased cos i have used this restaurant for years but every now and again i visit a different one just for a change and i always wish i didn't...The manager has got this restaurant just right...whether you go for the Sunday buffet, a mid week meal or a slap up Saturday night treat - the food and the service is 100%...Thats the reason i eat here time and time again...If you have never been then book a table and go enjoy the best Indian Restaurant in Leighton Buzzard...

Have been going to the New Himalaya for the past 20+years not only to eat in the restaurant but as a take away as well. Have to say best Indian restaurant I've been to (locally). Good atmosphere, friendly attentive staff.

My family & I have been eating at this restaurant for around 15 years.The food is absolutely excellent. Choice is superb and even if you fancy a dish that is not on the menu the chef is very happy to accommodate.The prices are good and are good value for money. I totally recommend my absolute favourites, - Alloo Dhan, Mater Paneer and Himalaya Naan ( garlic, chilli & Keena)As all the food is cooked freshly to order so the service can be a little slow, but nothing to cause any frustration.
