New Forest Bistro Fish & Chips in New Forest

New to the area so thought I'd give them a go, safe to say I will never be back! All the food was cold and they messed my order up. So I rang up and got left on the phone so I went back to get a refund as I was not happy with anything and was met with a rude, angry and argumentative man that wouldn't give me my refund and then lied and tried to be intimidating. In future I will be going to one of the other two across the road. All I wanted was a refund or apology as mistakes do happen but I was very shocked at the manner of the man in the shop and will not be returning.

This is a great spot for every occasion and the food was wonderful especially the pizza, me and my friends absolutely loved the place and the environment was soo friendly.

They had a good service with all customers, they had manners at all possibilities and the food quality is high, would advise people to go there.

My god what disgusting food if I’ve ever seen! Used to be nice for a kebab but what we got was chopped up poo! Can’t believe people eat from here!

What happened to the New Forest Bistro!? The fish and chips, and other items on the menu were excellent. Use to rave about it. Now the food quality is rubbish and cheap. We are now making the decision to never order or eat there moving forward. What a disappointment regrettably!

Have used the Bistro for years, unfortunately now has new owners and the service is chaotic at best, the kebabs which used to be great are now awful…the meat was opaque…hopefully the tourists using it on Friday night when we went don’t judge our local takeaways on the Bistro…order was incorrect and all the fish was super greasy…size of chip portions are now tiny…such a shame!!

The bistro has been taken over by new management. Unfortunately, it seems to have gone downhill massively. No delivery anymore which is a shame for locals. The cod and chips I had the fish was very dry and the batter super greasy. Chips were ok but now very small potions compared to how they used to be. The kebab meat now has changed again it’s not very nice and very little. Won’t be rushing back any time soon.

Well, I ordered the large fish & chips, with salad-for delivery. Delivery on time, food fresh and piping hot. Nicest f/c ever.... So, but so perfectly cooked! Service.. From phone call to delivery...excellent. Hat's off to management and staff - for 'showcasing' the best of the New Forest 👍🙌

Like the shop in Holbury tis service very good food with the added advantage of a restuarant are. Staff are pleasant and friendly and food has always been good. Clean restuarant

Nine meals were ordered by telephone and we were told it would be 20 minutes. Just before the 20 minutes were up received a call to say food was ready to collect. All the food ordered was tasty and hot. Well done.

I would advise ringing up to place order as your wait time is soooooo long. I’ve almost fainted in there waiting so long. Polite staff though

came across this place whiledriving about in the area while a few hours out and about decided to stop for a meal, the staff were friendly and helpful, place very clean, and the food was very fresh, hot and tasted lovely, good amount when we were in the area again last week decided to go back for a take away again a very short wait for the food as it is freshly cooked but it was again lovely and fresh and very hot we drove onto Camshot where we sat and watche the ships coming in and out of port and the food was still hot, will always use this place when ever in the area

Had a meal from their menu and although they were really busy we were well looked after Food tastes great and was cooked well Burgers were very nice as are the many fish dishes they do

Needing a quick lunch stop on a September Saturday, I parked opposite the New Forest Bistro, which I had seen mentioned on TA.

The food is really nice and cooked to your liking

I tried the BBQ Spare Ribs and was extremely disappointed. The meat was overcooked, very dry and chewy. No BBQ sauce was provided. The chips were typical fish shop chips and were also overcooked. This place needs to improve.

I ordered a large donner kebab and it was plentiful in terms of size but not in terms of taste. The kebab meat had obviously been cut from the large skewer some considerable time beforehand and had dried out. It had then been reheated on some sort of hotplate which made it even drier and chewier than it should have been.

Thought we'd try out the New Forest Bistro after a busy day. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was good and plentiful. Very impressive menu with a wide variety of dishes from traditional fish and chips to kebabs, steak and rice dishes. You can take food out or eat in the restaurant. Very pleased when the bill arrived - £20 for three of us including drinks.

Great Bistro in Southampton. Food is really delicious and service super friendly. Price is very reasonable. Mostly just delighted with the service

When this place first opened I whole heartedly recommended to family and friends alike. Now...... not so much.

My family and I eat here regularly. We call up to place our order with a strawberry milkshake everyone ( these are to die for!) The staff are very friendly and the food is ways ready on time for pick up. They have inside and outside seating, lovely decorated. The food is excellent and their salad is amazing! Would highly recommend!

We ate here as choices to eat in the immediate area were limited. It is basically a cafe type setting attached to the chip shop. The menu was extensive. My wife ordered chilli, with half rice and half chips, and i had piri piri chicken, with salad and chips. I must say, we were perhaps not expecting too much, but the food was lovely, portion sizes were excellent, and we really enjoyed our meal. We had a decent bottle of red wine with it, and the whole bill came to £26. Staffand service was all good. A bargain and decent. Not a great ambience as it is a cafe type establishment, but if you want a decent meal at a good price then it ticks all the boxes.

Have used this bistro several times and really doesn't get any better. Staff vacant at best, unengageing and ohhh so slow. Food ok but could travel further and still be home quicker than ordering here!

They offer a wide variety of food! I have been here a number of times with my partner and with my parents. The menu consists of curries, jacket potatoes, chip shop food, kebabs and so much more. I highly recommend the milkshakes :D

Decided to give the bistro a try after hearing only good things about it - great service decided to take away all food was lovely will certainly be returning

We have eaten at the Bistro and also had take out. The food is cooked to order and the fish and chips are great, fish is white and we always given large fillets. The fact there is parking at the back is great but some times people stopping for a take away block the entrance so one can get on or out. Staff are great; friendly and always happy to help.

A great range of products from traditional fish and chips to kebabs curries pasta and steak. Chips are out of this world. Good breakfast menu. They also deliver to your door

Service was shocking, a girl first answered the phone like it was her personal phone, thats when i should have know to give up on ordering food with them, anyway, the girl on the phone had no maners whatsoever, we then had to wait 2 hours to get our COLD food because they had got the postcode wrong, bare in mind we had to ring em 3 times to chase the order and make sure they had the right postcode, when it finally arrived to our front door, the guy apologised and said "heres the change", and left, believe me or not the change was £1 short ! Moral ? Never ordering from there ever again !

Come here quite regularly, always have a full English with tea or a milk shake. Prices are good and staff are friendly!

Went there today, serves plain simple but very very good food at extremely reasonable prices. Staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Premises is kept in perfect order and is spotlessly clean. The Bistro is open twelve hours a day and is fully licensed. The menu is extensive and has an amazing array of dishes available. I believe the menu is available online. Finally, it also offers a take away service and will deliver within the local area. My own opinion, great value for money!

This was my 3rd visit and on this occasion I feel embraced and disgusted by the front of house staff. I took a friend to eat here as my previous to visits have been very good here. We ordered a main each, 1 was a grilled salmon fillet and the other was grilled sea bass. We also ordered a calamari dish which was classed as a main, but we requested it to be sent as a starter. Firstly the waitress brought out the grilled salmon, so totally ignoring are wish to serve the calamari as a starter. The Second dish which was meant to be sea bass turned up by the supposed manager again grilled salmon. When i mentioned I ordered sea bass. He didn't reply, I said I would just take it now as it will take longer which he agreed and I didn't want to keep my friend waiting for his food. He went off no apology, brought out the calamari which was supposed to be our starter, stone cold. I assume this was cooked and meant to come out as a starter and they forgot. Tasted a piece, I was not happy. I wanted to pay my bill but wanted to complain about the calamari. The supposed manager was serving another customer for a takeaway order, I waited for him to finish and asked him to come over to our table to maintain the complaint in privacy. Another 1 of the waiters came over with the bill and I made my point, he went off and considering only 3 customers were waiting for takeaway food no 1 came back to our table for nearly 5mins. So I went to the counter and expressed the thoughts about the calamari, the manager said he spoke to the chef and as far as he was concerned calamari was cooked to right temperature and set on hot plate for same time. I said I was not happy with that explanation and what was he going to do and he said I cannot do anything. I reminded him about the grilled salmon and that it should have been sea bass and that I had kept the dish as they had already sent it to the table and the fact that he did not apologise at any stage, he said to me he had apologised to me twice and his regular customers would confirm that, this was clearly when no other customers where there and neither me or my friend heard an apology. Because we immediately had the conversation about the manager not even apoligising for mistake. They basically gave the wrong food, sent out at the wrong time. Didn't apologise and forced us to pay full price. Absolutely disgusted. Will never return there and definately not recommend. Apologies should be made for mistakes. So u apologise to anyone who I may have recommended to go to this place. Stay away, rude staff!!!

A bunch of friends were camping close by and found this little gem in the village.

Me and my Mrs always goes here for dinner some times in the evenings and lunch times yes we have had a bad experience where they have got the order wrong but they have always done something about it which I liked the time when they got my order wrong and they brought it to the house in their car which usually you have pay for defently will be returning and recommending to friends.

We have eaten here many times now, the service is fantastic and the food quality even better/ The menu is everything you could ask for. Will be using again.

Very extensive menu with something for everyone on. Amazing food and portion sizes at very reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. I've eaten in and had takeaway. This is my favourite place to eat in/have takeaway from on the waterside. Thoroughly recommend it

Extensive menu full of delicious food and lighter bites too. Competitively priced, very clean throughout, friendly and welcoming staff who take a real pride in what they do. Easily the best eatery in the area and was much needed. Attracts a wide range of clientele but there are now no rowdy mothers with their badly behaved children, which was quite off putting when the bistro first opened. We have eaten in and out several times, are now established regulars and look forward to our once (or twice!) weekly visits here. Can't be beaten in the local area.

I visited here with my family and found the newly opened Bistro to be very clean, staff are very helpful and friendly and great service.

Here at the New Forest Bistro, there is a humongous menu ranging from burgers to fabulous kebabs. My top highlight was when the food came out because I did not know what to expect, I saw the waiter walking towards me with a big plate of chips and a burger on top. Overall, I rate this restaurant 5 star.

I decided to treat myself to a meal out and only a few minutes drive involved so back to the New Forest Bistro I went.

Bacon was dry and overdone. Toast was barely browned. The noise from children, ignored by parents, was intolerable.

We ate here for a little family gathering with my 89 year old Mum on her birthday. Great food (and lots of it). Service was wonderful and they couldn't have been more attentive. Many thanks to the staff for all their efforts in ensuring we had a memorable time.

Very impressed really nice steak and excellent chips - and wine too! Very clean, excellent service. Only down side is ambience. Go more USA dinner ie. juke box and you would be on a winner. We will be back!

Went there for food really good . English isn't good but can get better .really can't wait to eat there again

We've eaten here twice. Once was as a take away and one sit down meal. The restaurant, although plain is spotless as are the toilets. The minute people left they were there cleaning the table AND seats. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The menu has something on it for everyone. From all day breakfasts to soups, burgers, hotdogs, steaks, fish (not your greasy battered variety) but lovely grilled sea bass, salmon and calamari. Their milkshakes are first rate as well. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Good food that is not your run of the mill 'Pub Grub' or 'British Chippie'. It's continental influence is a welcome addition to the local area. I had the grilled calamari which was a large portion and the best I've had in a long time.
