New City in Basingstoke and Deane

After living here 6 months and trying a few average to poor Chinese takeaways we are so glad we found New City! Only criticism is it would be nice to be able to add a delivery tip on my card as I never have any cash around the house to tip the great delivery people!

Food is delicious, definitely the best in Basingstoke! I've tried Chinese food from other places and it's not up to this place.

When we first ordered earlier this year the food was outstanding, unfortunately the last 2 times we have ordered its been awful. Pancake rolls dripping with grease and over done, crispy duck over done, chewy meat in the beef and mushroom dish. Just seems like it has gone down hill which is a shame. Gave them the benefit of the doubt with the first bad order, we will not be returning.

One of the best restaurants I have ever ordered from. The portions are large, food is delicious and always arrives piping hot. I would recommend the mixed hot appetisers and the pork and chicken fried rice with bbq sauce. The Service is also impeccable. They once forgot a portion of chicken balls and I mentioned it the next time we ordered and they included them in the new order. Delivery driver is always very nice and polite.

Udon noodles tasteless and undercooked, the wonton soup was overcooked. I would not recommend this takeaway

Ordered takeaway crispy duck, fries and kungpo prawn The prawn was great . The duck disappointment it was over dry and hard. I will give this place one more try.

Absolutely horrendous 2 times in one night have they put chicken in my order have been vegan for 5 years. Called to confirm it was definitely vegan. Makes me sick they can show such disregard. Unbelievable

1 star is generous. Do not ever use. Just lie to you. Waited 2 hours 30 for my food. Rang up and they said waiting on a driver it’ll be 25 minutes. 30 minutes later ring up again and they said it’s cooking and it’ll be 45 minutes more. Asked for a refund and they told me they can’t as the boss isn’t there. Absolutely joke, never had this service anywhere before. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Ordered a few weeks back didn’t do a review immediately as was waiting for a reply from email but they didn’t even bother, food was absolutely disgusting something clearly wrong with there noodles so all dishes we had with noodles in tasted awful and smelt disgusting, and the fact they don’t even want to knowledge there was a problem with there food is disgusting behaviour from a company

Waited almost 2 hours for delivery only to get a phone call asking for us to collect, which we were unable too. They shouldn’t be taking orders for delivery if they are unable to deliver! I have a very upset boy on Christmas Eve!!!

Apart from my first delivery being very late due to an un-noticed on line ordering system failure, the delivery time has been spot on. I keep reordering as the food taste and quality beats all my local Chinese takeaways, none of whom deliver. Even with the £6 delivery charge due to longish distance it is "still" cheaper than local collection. I have tried several other Basingstoke Chinese takeaways, some have been ok but in the main they have used far too many onions, like a cheap filler. Some of New City's dishes are as as good as I've had anywhere. Five deliveries so far and will continue, recommended.

Always used new city since moving here (15yrs +) as food is tasty but watch what you have ordered now, check your food order before you accept..... very disappointing, :(

Used to use this takeaway alot, but lately the meals have been overly salty. Far too much salt is added and totally ruined the meal. Please take this on board.

Great food. Always quick bit not worryingly quick. The duck the pineapple dish was perfect cooked and very tasty. The pancake roll are always very good. Shame its cash only as in a cold night the walk to a cashpoint is not wanted, but this does not stop us.

Read the comments. I've been here too and delivery is absolutely s**t. People saying the food is brilliant,,,, it's ok-good... But ordering it for delivery is shocking.... If you try star city, just collect it, seirously, don't go through all the BS I had to along with many others. Expect delayed delivery times with cold and missing food. And then they offer you 10% off your next meal when the items they've missed which were paid for cost more than 10% of the previous meal.....

This is a superb Chinese TA. Great food and flavours. The menu is the normal Chinese TA menu but the food is really good and fresh. Have never been to or needed to go anywhere else, give them a try!

5 star for collection, not tried delivery

I phoned to order food for a collection, I collected my food after a 30 minute wait, when I got home I discovered 2 items of my order were totally wrong. I phoned up to complain and said I am on my to collect the correct items and I I do not expect another long wait. When I arrived I discovered my food wasn't ready and the "cooks" hadn't even started to prepare it. I explained to the girl on the counter that I have food at home going cold whilst I am waiting for the rest of my order to be cooked......she couldn't care less. After this appalling service I saddened to say the whole meal was foul, I will never return to New City Chinese takeaway again and I advise people to avoid this place.

Absolutely terrible. Ordered online at 5.45pm. Waited till 7.30pm to ring and ask where are food was. Got told the driver had just left. Waited till 8pm still no sign. Tried to ring a few times and managed to get through at 8.05pm. Was told driver was still out I asked them to phone driver and ring me back. Rung a final time at 8.15pm. The woman spoke to the driver, she was talking to him as I was on the phone. So told them that we no longer wanted our food. I was given an apology but sadly no dinner. Absolute shambles of a place. I would recommend avoiding this establishment.

Collected our meal and got to say it was absolutely delicious. Will defo be going back and recommending to friends.

Best takeaway we've had in Basingstoke. I've tried a few in the local area and this has topped all of them. This will be our new favourite and I wouldn't hesitate recommending to friends. Easy ordering online too!

Awful, our food didn’t turn up, we called several times to be told it was being cooked. Finally told at 9:20 it was on its way, ok it was New Years Eve but would have appreciated honesty in that they were unable to fulfill our order. Incidentally KFC managed to deliver food to us. Will never use again and make sure that I pass onto as many people as possible, unfortunately had to give 1 star to be able to post, they don’t deserve any!

Absolutely awful Chinese! I highly recommend that you do not use this horrendous place. Since they’ve taken on another restaurant, it clearly shows they are not able to cope. Waited 2.5 hours for our food to be delivered, not only did they lie over the phone to us twice re delivery, it turned up cold, wet and absolutely disgusting! It is such a shame they’ve gone down hill, as we used them all the time. We will most certainly not be returning.

Wait well over 2 hours after ordering online. I called and they told me on the way, I called back 15 minutes later and was told it was in the kitchen. They lied and couldn't even say sorry. Never again.

Ordered my food at 7.47pm confirmation email sent at 7.48pm. Food delivered 9.40pm. Nearly 2 hours, very poor. The delivery driver was the most rudest I have ever had and all he had to do was give me my food 🤔🤔🤔🤔. I cant fault the food as I really enjoyed it, however I was starving!!!! I won't be back due to the most worst customer service I've ever had

Quite a varied menu and not bad value for money. It is a cash only establishment. We got the set meal for two which was £20 and contained more than we for finish .

Had a takeaway from here this evening. It was very enjoyable. Right strength of curry, prawns very fresh, egg fried rice was good as was the pancake roll. The service was friendly and the meal was made very quickly, all was yummy, will definitely go back. Only drawback, cash only, so I had to go find a cashpoint in town.

This restaurant is close to the hotel we stayed at, Premier Inn. The service is very friendly, and the menu is complete. The waiting room is quite spacious, and magazines are provided while you wait. Waiting time is not too long. The food tastes very delicious and fresh. However, at this place you cannot pay using a card. But my disappointment disappeared with a bonus lollipop for my child :), thank you

Newcity are amazing their food is delicious always on time their custom is very welcoming and very helpful their food is always nice and hot I don't use a any other Chinese in Basingstoke and would recommend that everyone should try this Chinese

Do you want food? Then don't order from here. After 3 hours it still hadn't turned up, the lied about it being out for delivery and then back tracked and said they lost the order. If I could give this place 0 stars I would do.
