When we are in Broadstairs this is our go to Chinese takeaway. Full of flavour, good sized portions. Big prawns and plenty of them ( unlike other places) and its really reasonable.

For the past three years I've stayed in Ramsgate, which as far as I know doesn't have a Chinese where you can eat in, and has only one Indian that's any good. So this year discovered this online beforehand. What a find! I had Chicken Chow Mein and half Carlsberg one night, King Prawn Chow Mein and small coke next night, bills £8.30 and £10.30 respectively. I can't imagine why the consensus rating is only 4 for value, at a Chinese in Scarborough, KPCM cost £16 last August. Next year I'll be going every night.

Out with a girlfriend for an early evening meal and we were not disappointed. We were the only customers at around 6pm and were seated and served quickly, Drinks arrived fast and so did a free portion of prawn crackers. We had half a crispy duck with a chicken dish with spring onions and ginger and a large portion of fried rice. Standards were reasonable but not great, the only let down was the chicken which was a little bland. With drinks the bill was around £40 which was excellent value for money. We left around 7pm and the place was starting to fill up with customers. We were impressed that even though it was windy and cold outside it was warm on arrival and was kept that way during our visit.

Despite a slightly unimpressive space, the New China Inn served up a highly impressive meal. We had sweet and sour chicken, chicken chow mein, chicken and cashews in yellow sauce, aubergine green Thai curry and aubergine with green peppers in black bean sauce. With a few portions of egg fried rice, duck pancakes to start and a couple of spring rolls, this was a huge meal for five of us. Each dish distinctive and delicious and generous in size.

We have always loved this restaurant and have previously posted several positive reviews. They have also delivered some truly memorable suppers to us. However the delivered meal sent to us last Friday night, was so awful that it needs a review. Perhaps this venue has changed hands, but we were so looking forward to our special mixed Hors D' Oeuvres. What eventually arrived, five minutes late, was a huge disappointment. Chicken Satay with diminutive cubes of chicken on a stick. Cubes of something coated with a heavy brown glutinous sauce, an undersized breadcrumbed prawn, a parcel of quite pleasant sea food of some kind. Our Chow Mein mains of chicken, featured thin strips of chicken which was indistinguishable from the noodles, whilst the six king prawns in the other main, we're certainly princes, and certainly not kings. Needless to say, we will not be ordering again. Sad after eleven happy years.

Staying in Broadstairs on an overnight break and chanced upon this place as we drove into town looking for somewhere to eat out for my husbands birthday. Parking right outside. We liked the Chinese ceiling decor. Friendly welcome. Great service throughout. Had the set meal B for 2 and it was freshly cooked, plentiful and delicious. Honestly the nicest Chinese food ive ever eaten. We were the only people eating in - it was a Tuesday night- but there were plenty of phone orders and online orders going out so it seemed popular. No problem to box up our leftovers. When we come back to broadstairs we will definitely eat here again.

After a day travelling around Sandwich and Deal we are back in Broadstairs and have decided to try this Chinese restaurant and takeaway again ( after an absense of about three years). We had a takeaway of prawn chow mein and pork chow mein plus chips. The noodles were thin but nice, not much pork but apparently enough prawns. Added bonus of free prawn crackers. We would go back but would probably try something different. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and the pricing was very good. The restaurant itself looks quaint and cosy but as we had our dog it was a takeaway for us.

We spend about a week in Broadstairs every year and this is one of our go-to places. We had another couple of nights in here in 2021 and I'm struggling to find anything that wasn't great. Some people might find the decor a bit dated but frankly, the food is great, the service is great and their house sauvignon blanc is great, so we were all happy. Try the smokey chicken with spring onions for starter! Yummmm

My son is 15 and just learning the joys of Chinese Take away, but having been to China, I keep saying to him... no, this isn't it. He says, but this is nice, and say no, its samey and slopey and not fresh and then we found The New China Inn and now he knows. Lovely big juicy prawns, sticky ribs obviously from the butchers not from a packet, sauce that is homemade, asparagus, non greasy noodles, lovely crispy duck, it was just lovely. I knew we were on to a winner when they said, of our order for the two of us, that is quite a large order, it might take a while, because that meant they were making it fresh and when it came, it really was SO fresh. That was not defrost - microwave, grease ball and I can see that from the next day because the left overs in the fridge are not fatty goo, they are still healthy lovely homecooked food. It was also less cost than other places we have been . From one parent to another. I truly recommend this. What I would say is a) crispy seaweed was too sweet and b) get yourself some biodegradable eco friendly packaging and thats it.. you WIN, you're the best in town. x

During the essential.lockdown to defeat Covid 29, we have been happily ordering gourmet level food from a few of our favourite local dining venues. One of these is the New China Inn. Saturday's Meal was a sheer delight. The mixed Hors d'Oeuvres of seaweed, spare ribs sesame seed toast and chicken satay is always a special favourite, but we both tried the shredded duck with ginger and spring onions, accompanied by plain chow mein. I can only say it was truly memorable and the food arrived exactly 40 minutes from order, as promised.

I am surprised that this restaurant is not busier as it is usually possible to get a table without booking. It may be because it is slightly off the main street. It is used by mostly local people who are obvioiusly regulars as they know the staff by name and are greeted like friends. The food is typical Chinese and, expectedly, lots of it. I thought service was good, food was good, had no issues with portion size, as other punters had noted.Beer 3 squid a pint (it's out of a 50p can) top spot , still better than a £3.50p bottle , which works at most restaurants as 7 squid a throw. We had the mixed starters at 5 squid each , which was good.Toilets , need some extra lighting , bit dark and could do with some maintenance/investment Bill, staters, mains , 2 glasses of wine, and 2 pints, came out at £35 , which I thought was okWould give it another go.

Had a meal here whilst holidaying with the family. I read the reviews on here and was sceptical whether we would have a good experience. However, it was folk week and we had not booked anywhere so it was the only chance of our party of 4 adults and 3 kids getting fed! A few things that might put people off, the décor is very tired (both external signage and internal decoration) the carpets and seating are both stained. We also found it odd that both waitresses were English, you don't usually see that in a Chinese restaurant! However the waitresses were very pleasant although they didn't have great knowledge of the dishes they served and when questioned they had to keep going into the kitchen for clarification. The food was lovely, the seven of us sampled a variety of dishes and cleared every plate. Some dishes we liked better than our usual tried and trusted Chinese back home! The price was very reasonable. In conclusion don't let the tatty exterior/interior put you off, the food is good!

I noticed it was the only restaurant in Broadstairs that was empty on a busy Saturday night. To give it credit where it's due the food was pretty good. But a few things to mention, it could really do with a refurbishment, even a tidy up and new carpet would do wonders. The whole place was grubby, especially in the toilets and it makes you think that the kitchen must be in the same state. Also as its a small restaurant you can here everything the staff are saying, and they were dealing with a complaint over the phone which was very off putting and didn't give a good vibe!

Went to have a meal here last night. On entering the restaurant there was an overwhelming smell of damp, so musty it caught our breath.I needed the bathroom so proceeded to the single unisex toilet.I was horrified by the condition it was in:We were the first customers of the evening as the restaurant had just opened, so there's no justification for the state it was in and cannot be blamed on customers using it soon before me: I can only assume the stains on the floor had been there since at least the night before. The toilet seat was up and as you will see from the photos, covered in wet muddy foot prints where someone appears to have stood on the bowl (why?!)On the wall behind the cistern was a dirty piece of paper taped to the wall, assumably covering a hole or something worse.I returned to my husband who was sitting at the table with a very uneasy look on his face.He asked me was I ok after visiting the bathroom to which I whispered "no" and he said we cannot eat here. It's filthy and the smell is so overpowering it has completely put me off chancing a meal here. For the first time in my life, we got up to leave and apologised to the waitress explaining we couldn't stay and would not be placing an order: when she asked why, my husband was honest and told her that the damp smell was so strong it was nauseating. She giggled and said "that's fine" and we made a sharp exit. Will never ever be returning here, and will be sure to warn friends and family too.Shocking standard.

I've had takeaway from here a few times now, and each has been very nice and quite quickly served or delivered. The food has been lovely each time, in particular the roast pork dishes which are delicate but nicely flavoured - they seem less artificial tasting than other takeaways. The chow mein is the thin, restaurant-style noodles, whilst the very yellow rice (although nice) does appear to be pre-packed, but virtually all takeaways use these, so I don't see it as a huge issue like other reviewers do. I've never eaten in the restaurant before, but it's not the largest place in the world and isn't the most private since the building has glass windows on each side. So long as you expect cafe type seating as opposed to a country pub, you'll have no issue. All in all, a very good takeaway and I'm sure restaurant too, albeit a bit on the small side.

We came here as a family of four on our weekend away. This was not our first choice of venue but being a Saturday night all the top rated restaurants were full booked. This restaurant was half full at 8pm which should have been a giveaway. We had duck and pancakes to start, and the usual special chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, rice and a something else which was quite frankly average. To be honest I can't really rave about anything being great. The portions are large and we couldn't finish but we declined the offer of taking it with us. The food, when it eventually turned up was very nice. 3 English, schoolgirl age waitresses weren't exactly helpful and were more interested in giggling with the young male customers. We didn't even get a thank you as we left. Won't be going again.

We ordered our food yesterday evening by phone and were told, that the delivery would take about 45-60 minutes.50 minutes later the delivery arrived and the driver apologized for being that late. The food was of a very good quality and at the right temperature. It tasted fantastic and seemed to be made of fresh ingredients.All-in-all we paid GBP 16 for 2 mains and 2 sides and got so much food, that it will be enough for a second dinner as well. Can absolutely and warmly recommend this delivery.

We have used many of the takeaways in Broadstairs but the New China Inn is by far the best. The food is always hot, consistently good and delivered quickly. It isn't greasy and doesn't make me bloated!!We have also eaten there on occasions and have been very impressed with the service.I would highly recommend the New China Inn.

wouldnt recommend this restaurant, went for a takeaway and ordered 4 items, got homeand found out we had a satay sauce instead of a curry sauce.I phoned up to complain to the owner to be told that she was sure she had put curry sauce in our order.I tried to explain to her i do know the difference between satay and curry sauce, very rude and not interested.Food was ok but not hot, surprising as they cooked it while we there and we drove home 5 minutes later to luke warm food. Will never go back, shame really, the time we went before that, was good, not anymore.Suggest they label the containers of sauce , so they REALLY know which one they are putting in the bag.

We had a lovely meal here at this hidden gem of a restaurant whilst staying in Broadstairs for the bank holiday weekend. Excellent service, very good value and lovely food. Would recommend.

We had a lovely meal here, not too expensive, value for money. Not a huge place, hence the title cosy, but that is how we prefer it. Would visit again if we were in the area.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. In the past three years at least once a month.Last week I went with my son and daughter in law. The crab dish looked like jelly and tasted salty and bland. The soup tasted like canned soup. For the first time ever! I sent the crab dish only back and requested another chicken and asparagus instead. I told the waitress, who was new and not Chinese, that I had been coming, sometimes weekly for years. She looked at me and said weekly!? In disbelief. She then tasted the crab dish in front of us at the table! She was very rude. When we left we had been charged for the crab dish we didn't eat at all instead of the second chicken dish that was two pounds less. Not a way to keep me going there. No fresh orange at the end of my meal as there used to be. I missed the lovely charming Chinese waitresses and won't be going back anytime soon. Vanessa bates

Food was surprisingly good, service also friendly. I ate the aubergine thai green curry and my partner had shredded chicken.

Been here on and off for years and have noticed during the last few times a decline in the standard of cooking. The dishes have been getting simpler and less tasty, as if cutting corners (while at the same time they've put their prices up). This place used to be good, but now it seems very average. The service is usually friendly and the food reasonably quick in delivery; this time it was super fast, which makes one suspicious, especially as the chicken was that common type of textureless stuff that looks steamed and appears almost synthetic: in other words, not just cut off the bone, so to speak. As the place is small, people coming in for their takeaways doesn't help, nor do street dwellers asking for plastic cups for their beverages. Hopefully this downturn won't continue further.

Recieced a friendly service, but have to agree with a previous reviewer about the rice being like something you'd get in Iceland for a pound! The meal tasted ok and very large portions and reasonable price

One of the best Chinese Restaurants in Thanet. Food is always great - huge portions and the staff are incredibly friendly. We have been here many times and never had a bad meal. The set meals are great value for money.

First time visiting. We didn't realise that it was cash only, so on arrival we asked them if we could place the order for delivery, so we could go and get the cash out. The lovely lady said it was no problem. So placed our order, very simple amd by the time we got home, the food arrived 10 minutes later. The food was absolutely delicious. Crispy chilli beef was the best I'd had in years amd the new pork dumplings were stunning. We will be back ❤️
