New China Chef in New Forest

Excellent service, the food was the best chinese meal we have had. Kung Po king prawn & a king prawn chow mein. Our now regular take away restaurant.

as Brockenhurst locals we aren't spoiled for choice with regards to quantity of different takeaways but the little quantity we do have, This Chinese restaurant is a gem! always so very tasty, polite staff and in the many years we have been coming here, we have never had a bad meal.

Stuck in a camp site two miles from take away agreed for taxi driver to pick up food but all went wrong when tried to order food and was told cash only!

This is the first time in a good number of years that we have used this Chinese takeaway restaurant. The name and operations seem not to have changed in that time. Maybe that's incorrect, but it seemed to be as I remembered it. Having ordered the food the first problem was making payment. It took 6 attempts and two cards to get the payment machine to work, and despite the somewhat offhandedness of the lady at the counter, the message on the machine clearly started that this was because there was no signal. Once placed the order did not take too long to be handed over, and it was packed neatly into one large box. Once home we unpacked and made a start. Mixed reviews. I found my prawn dish to be rather tasteless. Clearly it seemed that MSG was not preset, which is of course a good thing, but I would have expected more flavour. It was pretty tasteless. My wife had duck and ate only a little of it, and the seaweed was totally inedible. Several of us tried it. Nobody could chew it sufficiently to swallow it. Portion size was good and most of it was finished off, but in truth I can't recommend this with any enthusiasm. Overall rather poor I thought.
