Neptune Fish and Chips Takeaway in Lancaster

We have been using Neptune for years - a family favourite. Normally fish and chips and sometimes sausage - everything is fresh. The mushy peas here are especially good.

Tasty and not too greasy. Have had better and have had worse. The mushy peas were particularly good. Could have had 4 stars if chips had been cooked for a bit longer.

Have used this chippy for ages and mostly pleased with the produce, but I have noticed the last few times the curry sauce has changed and appears to be watered down and very runny, think I will have to try another one

We usually go down to the quay for fish and chips in Lancaster but decided to give this one a try. Everything was freshly coooked on order and the two young girls serving were pleasant and helpful. No smell of stale fat. It's easy to park outside or nearby. Prices and portion size were as expected.

Moved into the local area a month ago. Family decided on a chippy tea. I had fish and chips, the Mrs scampi and a chips. Fish was tiny, over cooked so chewy and fish wasn’t great. Mrs got 5 small pieces of scampi. Our four year old would easily finish them. Also she got some kind of bone in one. Mushy peas looked days old and too salty. Not happy as cost us £16! Won’t be going again

Excellent chippie, tried all the chippies in Lancaster and by far this is the best. Great quality and service. Keep up the good work guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stopped off for Fish and Chips after a day in Morcambe (fish n chip shops there didnt open til after we had left. We felt our meals were lovely. Freshly cooked and tasty too. Definately hit the spot. Reasonable priced as well and it saved me cooking tea back at our tent!

I have just paid £5.30 for fish and chips. The staff were uncommunicative, the portions of chips was small , the fish was both small, greasy and when the poor batter dropped off was tasteless. Overall was terrible -,will not be going back despite living 300 yards away.

Went into this chip shop last night and there was a woman touching the vinegar bottle then licking her fingers...the staff never even changed of washed the bottle...made me feel sick the thought that all customers have access to the salt and vinegar...who knows what germs are being shaken into the chips 😷 other than that the chips are okay and the John Bull is pretty tasty.

Called here on our way from Scotland back home to Wales. Well worth it! These were the best chips I have had in a long while. Well done. Will definitely call again when passing (!).

By far one of the best fish and chip shops in Lancaster, have tired the others but sadly they come second when compared to Neptune. Reasonable prices and generous portions, and friendly staff.

Chips are delightfully delicious. Very fresh and clean. Not a bad potato in sight. Staff ultra polite

This is my favourite chippy in Lancaster. Clean shop, polite staff and most of all great fish and chips.

The fish and chips here are perfectly satisfactory, but competition in Lancaster is tough and I can think of three other establishments which do better (one of which is only a few hundred yards further down the road).

Never mind the so called "award winners" this chippy is the best Lancaster has to offer. Haddock, chips and mushy peas - just delish! Will be back same time Saturday!

Eat fish and chips from here each week. These are the best fish and chips by far in Lancaster and we wouldn't go any where else. Perfect white fish cooked in a crispy batter , not greasy at all, chips cooked just right. Well done Neptune.

Neptune is what good Fish and Chip shops used to be like - good chips and great tasting crispy batter on the perfectly cooked fish at a decent price. Whenever I'm on the M6, in the evenings, and passing Lancaster, I make a point of heading through Lancaster to drop in here. It's always worth the detour.

El pescado es fabuloso, pasta crujientes muy bien cocinados y encantador patatas fritas no una pizca de grasa como que a veces encuentras. Servicio agradable y a un precio razonable. Lo recomiendo sin duda alguna.

Not bad fish and chips but terrible service and really slow. After clearly saying I didn't want vinegar, they gave me vinegar. So after asking them to change it, they pretended to and just gave it back to me, to which point I told them again. Didn't get an apollogy and just generally rude. Won't be going back

I have always been very satisfied with my experiences at Neptunes! The staff are extremely pleasant and the food always good!

Needed some sustenance for my drive down to Manchester airport after dropping my daughter back to university in Lancaster and found this shop on road to motorway. Very pleasant staff, great fish and chips (I had haddock) and very reasonable prices!I love British fish and chips!

I use Neptunes chippy on a regular basis and have never been disappointed.good friendly staff and a clean shop.

If you're nearby then I can safely say the chips here are great. Polite and fast service, clean place.

Delicious well cooked fish and tons of chips love it here and the gravy is really good, good value for money and tastiest!!

Whilst this might be just a chippy, the food that they serve is superbly cooked and in my opinion serves the best fish and chips in the area. Lancaster is very fortunate in having several fantastic chippies and this one ranks amongst the top.The shop often gets very busy but the staff always seem to be on top of the situation working hard and efficiently but being very pleasant with their large customer base.Soreen and Joanne who run this place are to be congratulated on the cleandliness and attention to detail of their excellent business and deserve the success that they obviously have, demonstrated by the volume of people that I often have to wait behind.

Crispy batter, melt in the mouth chips, which were not at all oily. Reasonably priced. Will become a regular stop-off on our way to the Lakes!
