Visited on 20/04/24. Friendly service. Good range of dishes too - nice to see them cooked in an open kitchen. A tasty wholesome kebab - though a larger portion of chips would have been preferable. The house red was tasty and reasonably priced. Overall - a pleasant experience.

We haven’t visited Nemrut for years - I mean literally 12/13 years ago when we had the whole place for my husband’s birthday. The food was soooo good then, and the owner made the evening so special; he magicked up dancers out of nowhere! Based on this I feel massively guilty that we haven’t returned, but we live a while away and have since had children - so that’s our excuse! However, we visited today post theatre trip. We hadn’t booked but were seated happily by the super lovely Ella. The food was stunning. We have visited Turkey many times and it was truly authentic. The children both had chicken shish and cleared their plates! The baklava and Turkish coffee were a perfect finish to a lovely meal. We will be back soon - I promise!

Went for a meal with family at their restaurant. Staff was rude and completely ruined the atmosphere for no reason. Hot mezes were cold/warm and waitress served me wrong main (although she corrected my order with no extra charge). This is basically a kebab takeaway with wooden tables at the back, this isn't a proper restaurant like it states in some websites. Wouldn't recommend.

Wow, I've never had such tasty Turkish food in the UK! this is quite a small place, so I would recommend booking at the weekend. We were in early at 6pm and by the time we left it was packed. All were welcome here (family, friends, baby) and it was a friendly and comfortable place. The waitress and chef were both lovely. I will be back to try more of their menu. This time we had the shared cold starters and I had a prawn casserole and my sister had the mixed meat platter. It was all great value for money and tasty. 10/10

Nemrut have been here for many years, they have amazing food and I really can't fault it. A hidden jem when it comes to proper home cooked Turkish cuisine. If you're in the area for a visit of have lived here for years but never visited, I'd highly recommend you book in, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely food, quick wait time and amazing atmosphere. The people are really nice. I especially recommend the Tavuk Shish, bread (ekmek) and also salad. The take away boxes are small but still fit lots in. Overall amazing place definitely go to it.

Highly recommend delicious food

Despite a modest exterior this is the best Turkish food I've had in the UK, hands down. I've been 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months. Reasonably priced and with an excellent selection, I hope to have tried literally every dish on the menu one day.

Great restaurant but as a Vegan the menu was not clear.

We Ordered chicken and lamb from the grill was hot when arrived then had to wait for the rice to come, when it came put on the plate with chicken and lamb but rice was cold so ruined whole meal Could not recook chicken and lamb due to no sauce Should not serve cold microwave rice .Left without eating

On a friends recommendation I took my wife, sister and sister in law to Nemrut tonight. I am glad to say that we all thoroughly enjoed ourselves, the food was amazing as was the service, definitely a place I will be goung back to.

Came here after show at King's Theatre. Great food.

The main dishes I have nothing to complain about. But there seems to be a lot of misinformation on there menu. The lady who picks up the calls seems to never know what day it is and comes up with bizarre excuses. I ordered there dessert which states it comes with cream and walnuts. It instead comes with almond flakes and no cream. When I question her about it just like every other issue. The response I receive is “it’s just like that now” “I didn’t know, thought that’s how we always do it” This is not the first time and I don’t plan on coming back. A child could’ve had that or someone who has a specific Nut allergy would’ve never noticed. The fact she didn’t take any responsibility on behalf of the restaurant or even apologise is just astonishing.

We were looking for a place to have dinner in Portsmouth. After a while without making our mind we found ourselves standing outside of this restaurant when a very friendly gentleman came outside to welcome us and asked If we're hungry. He opened the door and found us a seat. I must say I'm very great full he stepped outside to invite us because the service was just fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was flawless. I should have written this review earlier. The gentleman also suggested places for us to visit in Portsmouth and I'm very thankful for the fantastic service.

Great Turkish food & a few beers with friends.

Had a work leaving get together. Not eaten here’s before. Was made to feel welcome with friendly staff. Was given a pink rose when arrived which was a nice touch. The food was very nice, could of done with a little more rice with the dish as i had a lot of sauce with little rice. Apart from that, I would recommend trying this place.

Visited last night whilst in Portsmouth to visit family. Managed to get a table despite not having booked, something I think you should do as it’s only small and obviously very popular. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere very nice. The food is fantastic. Freshly cooked and very tasty. The Calamari starter tasted better and fresher than the Calamari we had on a recent trip to Rhodes. I had Incuk, lamb shank slow roasted served with roasted veg and a creamy sauce. It was so well done, a knife was needed. Will definitely return and would highly recommend

Superb restaurant, Babanos and Adana kebab beautifully cooked with great smokey flavour from the mangal. A well established Albert Rd restaurant with friendly owners.

Not very Happy! The price is as big as the food is! One plate for 2 was actually for 1…Sorry, but I will not recommend it.

Big disappointment!!! Ordered borek with very high expectations - received something that tasted more like asian empanadas it had nothing to do with amazing balkan borek a big fat no!

We found this place, knowing nothing about it, but something have caught our sight, so we decide to stop by. Fantastic food, served with a smile. Three different plates, all of those were great. Our stop was during a long trip in South England and was one of the best place we had dinner.

The service was great and so was the bill. The food was delicious! We cleaned our plates. I kept saying it the next day. The prawn starter was delicious. The houmous was fresh and creamy. Our main was the mixed grill. The Adana was in the dish and it was fresh and lean tasting. (Sometimes you get an Adana and it can be a bit gritty and fatty. Not this one!)

Delicious food and reasonably priced. A no frills restaurant with authentic cuisine. We came here at 6pm and had a lovely meal. We shared two mains from the specials part of the menu. One was a tasty lamb stew and the other a mixed vegetarian dish ( I think it was number 53 and 56 on the menu!) both served with rice. We were given a small starter dish of delicious olives and a homemade chilli sauce with warm flat bread. We also were given a couple of pieces of Turkish delight as we paid the bill which came to less than £30. Efficient service and you can watch the chef at work using the grill. As we left it was filling up with regular customers. Highly recommended.

Very small and noisy place with inordinately excessive wait time for food. We had called a few hours in advance and booked a table for two adults and two children - got there on time only to find that there was no clean table available for us. Staff cleaned one and then took a good few minutes getting us all four chairs that we needed, basic and not very comfortable too. When the last one finally arrived, I joked that we could all sit down now. The man who brought the last chair retorted ‘well you’re lucky to get a table.’ Our order was taken shortly afterwards but we had to then wait for an hour just for our starters to arrive. Main course followed. Food quality was reasonable - no better than you would get at any standard Turkish restaurant, plates way too small and rice portion quite a joke as it was way too insufficient for four people. Main course was served without serving spoons. We were told (by the same gentleman who had told us that we were lucky to get a table) that we would get them only if we asked for them. This was our first family visit to Portsmouth. My advice to people would be to look for a better place if you’re in the mood for Turkish food.

Fairly average for the pricetag. Visited for a birthday party and unfortunately felt like they took advantage of our party, four of us dined there and despite the friendly start, things went a tad sour when we asked for a birthday surprise, thought they would do a little cake with a candle, instead a shot which cost £3.50! That and they nearly set fire to our table in the process. Had to argue over this as no mention of cost or what it was, bearing in mind our bill was over £150 anyways, it was a tad cheeky. Eitherway, the food was pretty good, not outstanding but serviceable for the price.

A pleasant experience. You get a small appetizer of olives, sauce and bread to start. I had the stuffed eggplant which was a bit too oily for my liking. You get a small dessert also to end the meal.

We thought that Turkish food would be boring.... Wrong! We came here in December and again in February. Served both times by a lovely chap called Ali. He was funny and nice to talk to... Not afraid to poke fun at us and take it back in return. The food was genuinely really nice (amazing). My wife who was not the most keen on chicken and lamb, decided that this was now her favourite Restaurant... The food was lovely. We will make sure we come back when we can. The baklava... Amazing.

I recommend Nemrut Restaurant to absolutely anyone and everyone. Beyond happy with the first time experience I had there today. The food was AMAZING , and to top it off the staff was friendly and funny and all round amazing people to be around when having dinner on a Sunday night. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TRY THIS RESTAURANT AT LEAST ONCE!!! Thank u to all the staff from the bottom of my heart for the costumer service today! Can’t wait to visit again!

First visit. We both chose the Karniyarik (stuffed aubergine) and it was delicious! Very filling so we decided not to have dessert. The service was friendly throughout and we will be back to try some other dishes.

We visited this restaurant for the first time at the weekend, after finding it through an Internet search, as we wanted to eat before going to the theatre. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is very clean and simple. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu offers so much choice and they were also willing to adapt it to suit my dietary requests. We enjoyed hot starters and a main course each. The meals came out in good time, hot and were delicious. When we are back in town again, we will certainly be coming back. Thank you so much for a lovely meal.

Friendly venue, I asked many questions, but the staff was very polite to answer. And the food… rainbow on the mouth!!

This is one of those places you could easily walk or drive past without a second look but the food is excellent - proper Turkish barbecue with a skilled grill master. We only started getting takeaway food from them during the first lockdown, when there were far fewer places to choose from, but so glad we did. It's impossible to say what's best because everything we've had has been impressively good. Aubergine stuffed with minced lamb, chicken kebab, moussaka, mixed grill, esme salad (tomato, garlic, chilli and herbs - has a bit of a kick). And they make their own bread, which goes well with everything, too. Now you can eat in, too. Do yourself a favour and check them out.

The best Turkish meze I’ve tasted, just wow..I was apprehensive at first to enter as it seemed like a cafe but oh what a wonderful surprise.. I would travel from London to Portsmouth just for the meze!
