Brasserie Blanc in Portsmouth

We live 35 miles away but we love eating here and it’s where we eat out most frequently. The food is always fantastic and the service standard is very high.

1. I am not disabled, but those who are may struggle with upstairs toilets. 2. Coca-Cola was served in 250ml bottles but menu only lists price for 330ml. 3. The food was actually rather nice, I would rate it four out of five. 4. If you're wearing particularly colourful clothes, nail polish and sandals with flowers on you probably don't expect to repeatedly get called "Sir" as I did. 5. Pricing Pretty reasonable tbh. Would I eat here again? Depends if someone else is paying like when I visited. In which case, definitely. Otherwise, no. On balance: Better than McDonald's, but work is needed for those differently abled and/or neurodivergent.

Great food, service and atmosphere.

Lovely restaurant, background singer I spoke with and was an absolute delight. Our server always kept on top of matters and ensured we were well looked after. Plenty of choice on the menu and all cooked to perfection with an open kitchen.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, as we had booked a table and the person said oh yes we have been expecting you. The service was spot on. We never felt rushed but equally we had no problem raising the attention of staff if needed. The food was superb. The cheese souffle was light and full of flavours. The chicken was delicious and the autumn life dessert was presented so well. The wine was also very good. It was slightly chilly inside, which was my only fault. Maybe place some wraps or turn the heating up slightly. All in all a very pleasant experience. Thank you

This is definitely the best restaurant in Gunwharf Quays. We have been going there for years and it is consistently excellent, and never fails to impress. We were there last Friday evening and Eloise looked after us really well, as do all the staff that avhe served us in the past. Looking forward to going back in a few weeks’ time. The team are amazing and always welcoming. The menu is varied and the food quality is excellent. It is one of our favourite restaurants and we would highly recommend it.

Great Margarita, second rate food, onion soup was not nice, duck leg was dry burger ordinary and we ordered mushroom terrine, it came on a sliced bread little mushroom and an egg on top it was ok but not a terrine. Very noisy but the lady singing at the bar was fantastic. We will not be going back but might go to the bar and will be following the singer.

I've wanted to eat here for a while now. We were given a lovely welcome and waited on by Nia, who was just lovely. The food was a cut above what you would expect for a chain of restaurants and the flavours of the food were just beautiful. I can recommend the Hake, my husband had the Venison which, he told me, was equally delicious. The meal wasn't just about eating, it was more of an experience. An experience of different flavours and enjoying the ambience of the restaurant itself. There was no loud music playing, which was nice. The mood of the restaurant was just right for an enjoyable dinner. Thank you!

My first visit for six years the service is still polite and welcoming. The food remains of a good standard and the wine list is good. I expect to return when next in Portsmouth

Dinner with friends, Hannah deserves to be recognised for her manner and skills as an amazing waitress, she was helpful with recommendations, chatted with us and made sure we were all ok without being intrusive. Food was well presented and very tasty- will definitely be returning

It gets noisy when busy and service can get slow. Enjoyed the food and especially the Sunday roast!

The burger was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Staff friendly and attentive.

Indoor acoustic solutions are badly lacking, causing the place to get very loud from casual speak of casual customers, as many of the exposed hard surfaces reflect sound around with little to no dampening elements. Strong recommendation to prepare by bringing your own earplugs. Food is excellent though.

Great food, reasonably priced, and good atmosphere but most of all, great service from Alishia. We felt like royalty! Well done Team Brasserie Blanc. We’ll be back!

My food experience with brasserie blanc was not the best. I didn’t really enjoy the taste of most of the items in my plate. But overall the place is cute and the vibe is chill.. specially after a long day in Portsmouth shopping 😂

Absolutely loved having dinner here, lovely relaxed atmosphere, the safe were great and the food was delicious. I will definitely be eating here again, many more times.

Great service, delicious food. Six of us for lunch and all of us enjoyed it.

The Sunday roast here is delicious. Also if you are like me and love roast potatoes, you can ask for extras. The rest of my party had steak, which they too loved. One of our favourite places to eat. The food and service is always top class.

Lovely, fresh food, we always enjoy it and it never dissapoints, just like the other brasseries. Compliments to the chef!! The food leaves us feeling good and light at the same time. Staff has always been courteous. The only thing I can comment is that the children's portions are quite on the small size.

Fantastic food at a good price. Service was attentive, swift and very friendly. We sat outside under big umbrellas which was perfect as it was a hot, sunny day. We've been here before and will certainly return. Loved it!

It's suffering from shrink-flation. The Bouillabaisse was light on fish arms had no depth of flavour. Very disappointing!

Had an absolute lovely dinner to celebrate two birthdays. Food and service were excellent. Lost a star as the atmosphere is too noisy; at times it was hard to hear conversation at our table.

Myself and my girlfriend have been to Brasserie Blanc a couple of times now and has been excellent on both occasions. The food is high end French cuisine at a really reasonable price, the wine selection is great with always top tips from the highly motivated staff. Last time we were there my girlfriend had the beef bourguignon and I had the chicken paillard, both outstanding, served by the lovely Paul it was a smashing evening with the new renovation looking really nice. Easily the best restaurant in Gunwharf and one of the best in the Portsmouth area.

Superb Staff & Food experience, I have been the RBs Le Menior in Oxfordshire and this is the best trickle down you can get. The food was freshly prepared unlike some main modern restaurants. We were welcomed in and taken to our table, drinks ordered and left to mull over the menu. I do not believe any review that says you have to order food at the bar !!!! This is a classy restaurant and superbly presented fresh produce cooked with care from a great team

A bit of a windy day, no one eating outside and we thought this was going to be another big name chef with a crap restaurant!!! HOW WRONG WE WERE. This is a fabulous place and a very warm greeting when we walked in. We were taken to our table by a lovely young and very polite waitress, she asked if we needed drinks and came back later to take our food order. I had the Escargot and these were freshly cooked to order with wild garlic and herbs. Amazing fresh taste and not over powerful. Mains for my wife: seafood bouillabaisse, massive langoustines, monkfish and other super ingredients including fennel… OMG SHE LOVED IT! I had pork and peach roulade, braised cabbage and dauphinois potato with a peach sauce , so tender. Had dessert too and the pistachio soufflé was delicious. The whole experience was worth every penny and the service was exceptional, the two waitresses were just so attentive without fuss. This is an experience from Raymond Blanc that has trickled down from Le Menior

Paul at the Portsmouth restaurant needs a raise! Honestly, I have never experienced such exceptional service and I eat out a lot. I last ate here in March and I wrote a 5 star TripAdvisor review..Today I arrived solo again (I love to have days to myself) and the second I walked in Paul recognised me and remembered I had been raving about the saffron ailoli last time (seriously, bottle it and take my money!) That is exceptional service. It's not just the great service though, the food was delicious. I had the pork roulade and wow. The cabbage was perfect too. I will always return here when I do my solo days in Portsmouth.

My friend and I had a lovely meal at Brasserie Blanc on Friday evening, we sat outside which was set up really nicely. The food is always good here and the service top notch too. I would highly recommend and will definitely revisit.

Very bad experience every day we come and order and every day the stuff take orders from other people but when we want to order from them they say you have to go yourself and order from I don't know what the reason is why all this racism very bad treatment and clear racism and also when we order coffee he puts his hands around the cup to prevent the ice from falling knowing that there is a tool to put ice inside the cup I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone because we have faced clear racism

I had an uncomfortable experience at this restaurant. After ordering just one coffee, we were told we couldn't stay unless we ordered more. Then, just five minutes later, we were asked to leave our table because some random people supposedly wanted it because they wanted to smoke!, even though there were plenty of other empty tables available. it was incredibly uncomfortable. The waiters kept giving us unpleasant looks and seemed to be watching us constantly, as if waiting for us to do something wrong. It felt like we were being unfairly targeted for no reason, which made the entire sitting and enjoying the atmosphere experience stressful and unwelcoming. The way we were treated felt unfair and possibly discriminatory. I can't help but feel that race may have been a factor in how we were singled out. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values being treated with respect and fairness. Never again.

Food was absolutely lovely and cooked too perfection. Good times between courses and not waiting around for too long. I would definitely return.

I had a very upsetting experience at this restaurant. When I tried to order, the staff told me to go to the bar and order my food/drink there, This happened repeatedly as if it was normal. while I noticed other customers were able to order from their tables without any issue. This unequal treatment felt racist and completely unacceptable. No one should have to deal with this kind of discrimination when dining out. The staff’s behavior was unprofessional and left me feeling unwelcome. I won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place.

Superb food. Good value. Superb service. Gus was exceptional. Will be back next month. Ideal. The food here is how food should be cooked & eaten. Chilled and just heavenly. My favourite place to eat. Repeatedly good quality & good value. I highly recommend it. Style and substance.

Amazing food. We don't have one near us so it was a treat to try this restaurant. I was sceptical as with all chains but we had Amazing food and service from start to finish. Absolutely top notch food for those looking for an extra special meal in Portsmouth.

Was the evening of the around the world race. My friend and I had eaten here before and it had been nice. Booked a table. Starters were nice, I like snails and they were good, apart from the lack of bread to mop the garlic and parsley sauce up with. We ordered Steaks for main course. They were not as nice as the first time we had them. Chewy, rubbery, bland. Considering the money for them I was expecting more. Vegetables and dessert were good

Very pleasant. Comfortable indoor and shaded outdoor seating, friendly and pleasant staff, excellent steak for myself and salad for my wife. Very pleased that there was no background 'music' only the muted conversation of happy customers.

Always enjoy going to BB. Food, atmosphere and service on this visit were excellent again. The place has recently received a makeover and it’s very tastefully done. Will definitely be back.

Second visit after recent refurbished, staff welcoming and attentive. We had the Sunday menu which is different to the normal al a carte. Large roast with good selection and the dressed crab is to die for, followed by the amazing pistachio souffle. My only gripe is they keep sending special offers which are never valid on a Sunday.

Superb menu that changes every season, well presented and cooked. The staff are lovely and happy to make suggestions if you're unsure what to choose. Comfortable setting, tables not too close together as in some places. On the expensive side but definitely worth it.

So disappointed as I wanted to love it here The service was just so slow and we saw our daughter’s ultimate burger sit for ages on the hot plate it was not good she had to miss her pudding because of how long we had been there totally their fault but we were still charged a service charge The rest of the food was good but can’t go back to bad service

Had a really lovely post graduation meal here today. Had originally booked way too early, but was able to postpone last minute for a bit later. The food and wine was really lovely and let's not forget the free glass of bubbly for the graduate. The the service and staff were excellent. Would definitely come back.

Lovely meal as always. Cheese soufflé is heaven on a plate. Paul the waiter was just great very attentive and friendly. Also as a member had a treat of a free bottle of Rose due to ordering two courses including a main. Perfect! Plus had Stephen Mangan dining alongside us on a nearby table which made the evening even more memorable.

Went for an early lunch. Although nearly empty (see atmosphere score) the maitre de had great humour. The service was great and the food (beef bourginun) was excellent. Melt in your mouth with the most delicious ju. I can be fussy but this was excellent. Two of us, mains, one pud, two coffees and two glasses of wine £87 service included. Which is more than we would usually spend on a lunch but worth every penny. Best restaurant in Gunwharf methinks 👍

First visit for lunch today. Friendly welcome and excellent service. Drinks came quickly and orders taken. The quality of the main courses, trout and half chicken were excellent. I took the waiters advice and added the mixed spring vegetables. A superb variety and complimented the meal. Rhubarb crumble and creme brulee for dessert. My son said it was the best crumble he has ever eaten and my brulee could not be faulted. Prices a little higher than some but well worth it. We will certainly visit again.

We met family after both travelling about 1 1/2 hours each. Met by a very friendly staff . Booked table a week before. As it was Father's day there was a special menu. Very good choice and all was delicious . Nothing was too much trouble . Very lovely. Enjoyed our visit . Thankyou

Had Crab Bon Bons, Escargot, Sunday Beef Roast and Sirloin Steak. Food was okay, nothing special but the service was friendly, attentive and efficient.

We always eat here when we visit Portsmouth. The food is good and the service is excellent. The price always seems reasonable, especially if you join their mailing list and take advantage of their frequent offers.

Had a lovely Sunday roast today for my dad's birthday. Food was amazing the waitress was so attentive and helpful as my sister is celiac . Well worth a visit.

Excellent food which is beautifully cooked combined with attentive and friendly service. ☺️. The choices on the lower priced set menu are very good, well worth looking at before making your choice. This year's (2022) Autumn menu is excellent, the Malabar Fish curry is wonderful, great flavour. I've just had a great dinner in the newly refurbished restaurant and it's very good, the spring 2024 menu is great, but I admit I'm a sucker for the old favourites such as cheese souffle.

Absolutely wonderful lunch. It's rare that every course is spectacular but this truly was. The pistachio soufflé is to die for! Staff were lovely and attentive and the new decor is great, giving both a relaxing and warm atmosphere. Not the cheapest but in this case worth every penny.

Dining at Brasserie Blanc was a truly wonderful experience. This was my birthday treat from my lovely partner, thank you. An exceptional meal, including unique starters, scrumptuous mains and a delectable dessert. Try the duck, as the orange sauce elevated the meal! The quality of the food which was expertly prepared and served made for a very memorable evening. Thank you to Hannah, for the lovely table service and the kitchen staff for executing lovely dishes. From the front of house to the back, we thank you. Congratulations on the spring menu and may others enjoy as lovely as an evening as we did.

A lovely meal for my girlfriend's birthday. Cheery, friendly service from Hannah, great atmosphere and superb food. The duck confit was perfect! Altogether a great evening.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. The atmosphere and service is always excellent. The only slight negative is that the food portions tend to be small but this doesn’t spoil the overall ambiance.

Fair value for money. A welcoming and friendly staff. Superb place to absolutely do.

Went for the Wednesday steak night deal and had 2 perfectly cooked 8oz Rumps with 2 a lovely fresh tasty salad a big portion of fries and 2 sauces all with a bottle of house white all for £44 so £50 with a small tip.Great service , great food , great atmosphere and we will be back for our 3rd visit very soon. Well done to the team.
