I went into Nelson’s fish and chip shop last night with my young daughter. I ordered a large doner meat and chips in a tray with the intentions of sharing it with my daughter. I asked for sauce however due to my daughter having an allergy I asked if they could wrap up a small amount separately. I was told no. I explained politely that I didn’t want an extra portion I just wanted a small amount of the portion I had paid for, wrapped up separately. The blonde man who I have since been told is a manager/owner was so rude and refused. Myself and my daughter left without any food and my daughter was very upset and hungry at this point when the manager smiled and sarcastically shouted “have a nice night” as we left. I have worked in hospitality for 15 years and I have never treated a customer this way nor have I ever been treated this way before. I will never return to Nelson’s fish bar and I will advise everyone in the area to avoid due to the rude staff. Also as I walked into the establishment I smiled at the blonde man who decided returning a smile was too hard. All I can say is I hope you are happy with yourself for not accommodating to my daughter’s allergies and left a 9 year old girl hungry and upset. I have been told in the past about the terrible customer service here and unfortunately I had to learn this the hard way myself. DO NOT USE - over priced and rude staff

Excellent fish and chips, honestly the best I have had...the service is always superb, the food always cooked fresh. For me, this is one of the best fish and chip shops in the Midlands.

Nelson’s cooked and delivered 63 fish & chips to Wootton Wawen for a social evening. They were superb. Very hot and very well presented. Delivered with a smile. Would highly recommend.

Ordered fish & chips for 60 people also had them delivered. When they arrived they was lovely and hot and beautifully cooked. There is no fish and chip shop like Nelson’s perfect every time staff very friendly. Will definitely use again.

Passing though Hockley Heath, we thought we’d try one of our favourite fish and chip shops in the area. Did not disappoint with some great fish and chips which we ate in the car over in the park opposite. Well worth the stop when passing by.

Fish and chips X2 tonight, normally very good but tonight very small cod and chips were hard, £18 for 2 aint cheap, dissapointed.

Great staff, good quick service and excellent grub. The prices have gone up, but not a lot, and the fish & chips are good value and of good quality.

One of my regulars for a weekday lunch. Great tasting wraps, especially the Chicken wrap, which is my regular. They have online order option (for click and collect), which makes it really convenient. The wraps are good portion as well. Some of my friends have tried the Fish and Chips, which they love. I personally haven't tried it yet. Very friendly staff who knows most customers and their tastes.

This was our first visit to Nelsons, but certainly not the last. Piping hot, perfectly cooked the pure white fish fillets were perfection, and the chips could not have been better. Very friendly and welcoming staff, this was a delight, and highly recommend,

Just needed a quick snack for myself and a friend, so popped in and ordered a couple of £2.50 bags of chips. Crisp, dry, good mouth feel, Will try to pay a proper visit soon.

Just had to write and praise this fish and chip shop. Been coming here about two years now and I have NEVER EVER had a bad meal. Food is always fresh and piping hot. The cod is always flaky white and the batter is exceptional. As for the curry sauce wow!! If you haven’t already tried this place you must!!

Great food, great service and good accessibility. Food served is undoubtedly worth waiting for and they operate an efficient outside queueing system which is welcome.

Okay fish but really second rate soggy poor quality chips, the mushy peas average at best and the bread roll (to make a chip butty) must have been at least three days old. Won’t be going back.

Decided to try a different local chippy and this appeared on the Solihull top 3. Easy to use website for pre-ordering in ten minute slots, with a separate collection window opposite the front door. Large crispy battered haddock and a large chips to share was a huge plateful and really tasty

Despite Covid restrictions served very quickly, with freshly cooked giant haddock in a large box meal and cod in a small box meal. Super friendly staff. The best fish and chip takeaway we know.

Tried it yesterday for a light meal (small fish,chips and mushy peas) The website is simple to use and the meal was ready for me ,spot on time with no queuing. In retrospect it could have been hotter as it had been hanging about for a bit so that is the downside... SS

After using Nelson’s for over 3 years and been a loyal Customer ,the last 4 to 6 visits have been very disappointing ,Not sure if they have changed there potatoes as quality of there chips has gone down hill , must say haven’t been pleased with the fish either and what’s the idea of doing you chips and putting them on the counter for 5mins Before your other food is ready, so sadly I will not be going there again .On another note the young staff are excellent. This is our local fish and chip shop who cook a superb fish and chips. Nothing is too much trouble and we always look forward to the weekend.

I regularly eat here but last nights food was the worst I’ve ever had .... I have attached a photo of the fish . I did eat part of it until I came across the bad part very jelly and smelt funny . At 4o clock this morning I woke up with an almighty stabbing pain in my stomach I started sweating and my legs went like jelly . The rest is history not wanting to go into to much detail but I could of @@#% through the eye of a needle and I was sick everywhere . It really has put me off fish for life never again .

Had haddock, chips and peas here today. We really enjoyed it. Haddock was beautiful and batter nice and thin and not overcooked like Knowle fish bar. Will definitely start going here now

The place was absolutely crowded so we thought it must be good and we ordered cod and chips for both if us. Well the cod was wonderful, particularly as the excess fat had clearly drained from the batter. However, the chips which were just cooked were soggy and bland, leaving us a little disappointed.

Absolutely bloody gorgeous!! Haddock cooked fresh for us while we waited , shop was heaving ! Chips were Devine !! A really local gem !!! Worth every penny and the wait on a Friday night !!!

Have been twice recently and feel this is one of the best chippies in the area. We travelled further than usual away from our regular source. Pleasant staff and quick service considering how busy they always seem to be. One tip is to order some choices when waiting in queue such as haddock. Look at menu board to see if marked with an asterisk. Speeds up the service.

Doner wrap & doner kebab were both packed with meat, both has salad and mint sauce. Both tasted delicious. Cod the chips, best around.

Normally we have had Haddock( brilliant) Cod good with chips avearage to good....This time we decided to be differentHad steak pie( OK) Chicken KebabLamb KebabBoth came in dry outta bread and NOTHING else!!!No coleslaw , no tomatoes, no onions, no sauce whatsoeverI had asked for extra chilli sauce on the sideI had to THROW out my entire meal!!Went to bed having eaten few borrowed chips!!!I did ringWas told U cud have free kebabs really! What that rubbishWhy cook something that is not even remotely like any Doner Kebab one can ever get.. poor cheap Diner... the place should be ashamed to give food that unpalatable and not make any attempt to hide the basic poor quality of meat!!

Stoped off here, when on a narrow boat holiday. The mini cod was great, I would of been 5 stars but the chips were not as good. I would definitely go back.

The quality of the fish and chips here is second to none. I’m very lucky that I live less than 100m away, but I would travel much further if I had to. Everything is always fresh and delicious.

We have used Nelson’s many times to provide Fish and Chip suppers for events at local village halls. Typically we order about 100-120 meals for delivery at a certain time. They prefer that this time is not too early in the evening so as not to interfere with regular trade. 8.00 pm or 8.30 pm is usually fine. The food arrives on time and is piping hot and individually packed in cardboard boxes. Delicious.

After moving to Coventry from Cheltenham recently I was disappointed to find that all the local fish and chip shops are awful! (Cheltenham is home to some of the best chippys in the country so I have been very spoilt!).

Ok. So my wife is a fool for going to a fish and chip shop and ordering a MRM burger and chips... that's what McDonald's is for.

We were camping nearby, a group of 25, mostly teenagers. We phoned beforehand to put in a large order to feed our hungry peeps. Food was ready on time and well packaged for us to return to our campsite, even throwing in salt, vinegar and forks. Staff very friendly and efficient. Most importantly, great food! Would recommend, delicious!

After at poor experience visiting the chip shop in Shelly Farm I trusted the google reviews and went here last weekend. One word summary - fantastic.

Anyone who has the time and the inclination would know that many of my reviews revolve around good fish and chips. Last Friday went up to my daughters farm, just around the corner from Nelsons. We had phoned an order for four through and jumped in the car to fetch the meals. Parking was easy on this occasion and the staff asked us if we had an order. We said who we were and the order was put together. It was not long before we were back home tucking into really nice fish and chips and kebab chicken and salad and chips. Much oohing and aahing as to how delicious it was. The fish was perfect and so were the chips. The service at the shop was good because they kept you informed as to how the order was proceeding. Would I go to Nelsons again. Yes most certainly. This time I am going to indulge in kekab meat and chips !!!!! Well done.

We have been going to Nelsons pretty much since it opened and would highly recommend it. Fish is always freshly cooked and the portions are good . We wouldn’t go anywhere else now . We drive from Solihull but it’s worth it .

Food was lovely but portions very small . More salad in the kebab than chicken , large chips was just regular , large fish also very small . So not in a rush to go back as you get twice as much from any other chippy and cheaper

Love this chip shop and try to pop in when we are working late on our way back to the B&b; on our monthly visit , something we always look forward to

We recently stayed in Claverdon, 20 minutes away from Nelsons. As it was a B&B; and having eaten mid afternoon, we fancies fish and chips. Trip Advisor showed Nelsons to have a high rating and even though there were other fish and chips shops closer off we went. Julie and I both had cod and chips and I had the curry sauce as well. We ate them in the car park, watching a constant stream of cars, pull up, go into Nelsons and drive off. There were plenty of staff serving and with around 6 cars at a time in the car park there needed to be. With quality like this it is no wonder it was so busy. Excellence is worth tracking down.

We found Nelsons Fish and Chips by accident after checking in to the nearby hotel and it's something that we have never regretted! The food is outstanding but the portions do run small for the price you pay. The chips are lovely because they are fresh and not greasy at all. The fish is near perfect!! It's not greasy and very very fresh. My husband is very very fussy eater and doesn't like chips at all but he loves the chips here and chooses this place over anywhere else. The place is very clean and you are served very quickly and the shop even accepts card payments. Again as previous reviewers and I have stated, the portions are small and quite expensive so be prepared to pay over £10 for a regular cod & chips and a mini cod & chips with no drinks, but honestly the food is worth every penny!

We stopped off here when travelling through Hockley Heath . Nelsons is a great little fish and chip shop. There is a big range on the menu and the fish and chips are great. They do gluten free fish and chips on Wednesday and have veggie options too. It's really good to see they have card payments too. This seems to be a very popular place.

We went in after a recommendation from friends.Wow what wonderfull quality.We had traditional F & C with pies and a Kebab. All were of the very best quality.and we can say that we would recommend to anyone in the area to go and try as this is definatly up market F & C.

We use nelsons for our fish and chip treats. The food is first class and most people in the area know this so there are often large questions which are dealt with swiftly.

Local so use on a regular basis, usually have the fish and chips (always first class) but for lunch decided on the chicken and mushroom pies, mushy peas and chips. A great meal, small portion of chips was more than enough, pies good pastry and plenty of meat. The staff make this a very pleasant experience, a welcome smile and a polite greeting when you enter sets the tone for great service and quality. Always spotlessly clean, and many times food cooked to order, so fresh. Good location.

Popped in for sausage and chips for lunch.The food was excellent, make no mistake.But the portion size wouldn't have fed a toddler, I have never in my life handed over £1.80 for a portion of chips this small.I'm in no rush to return to Nelson's as I hate being ripped off, which is a shame really as the food itself was great.

Visited on a Saturday night - ordered small fish and regular chips for two. Excellent value for money. Both were freshly cooked. Food was tasty and not to greasy - plump chips. Staff were friendly and efficient. Premises were nice and clean. Will definitely go again when I am in the area.

went due to recommendations from friends on a Wednesday there is s gluten free fish and chip offer before 9pm takes 15 minutes and advised in future to call and they will put it in ready to avoid the wait. food was lovely enjoyed the battered fish and a very generous portion.

I occasionally drop in here on my way to work in Redditch. There is often a queue ( a good sign ) but well worth the wait as the food is always spot on - I've never had a bid meal from here.Parking can be a bit of a problem so I usually go in the public car park on Old Warwick Road and sometimes eat my supper overlooking the greenness of the park.

Nelsons is a good chip shop. Fish and chips are nice and all very fresh! Only down sides are the kebab meats are completely tasteless! Although looks nice there is no flavour what's so ever!? Also they don't sell Southern fried chicken which is a shame as I feel all fish and chip shops should. But as a whole, yes it's a good chippy.

Nelson's are consistenly good in their product and their cod is succulent, flaky and large. Generous portions of chips and a varied menu choice. Good wholesome food.
