This restaurant is pretentious! Over priced lack lust food. When paying we asked to remove the service charge due to freedom of choice and we were happy to tip in cash, however the manager challenged this in a confrontational way even though we explained that money is tight for us at the moment! She then did not remove the charge and made us feel so uncomfortable we just payed it! This is not cool and gave off a very hostile vibe. The food was totally overpriced and miniature so if you want to have an enjoyable and affordable pleasant dining experience don’t go here!

The service was otherworldly, not quite present, sort of dreamy! I had to ask to order twice but the order arrived quickly and was very good. No WIFI.

We have eaten here several times before and really enjoyed it and love eating at the roundhill in brighton. However when we asked for pita bread and hummus we were flatly refused, even though it appeared as part of a dish on the menu. Apparently it was too much trouble to price it separately. I have never come across so much inflexibility before. The manager was adamant she could not do it 🤷🏻♀️. Doubt we’ll bother returning. Did not like the attitude.

Was a bit apprehensive of a full 100% plant based menu but liked the idea! Me and my partner had oat milk flat whites, a full breakfast & pancakes. The portion size was very good and the meals were tasty. My only criticism would be there were too many pancakes (that’s a personal preference tho!) Vibe was great, staff friendly. Will go back again next time we’re in Lewes.

Turned up at 14.40 and sat looking at the menu and when I went to order the food 5 mins later was told that the kitchen was now closed. Even though it said on the menu the kitchen was open for lunch until 15.00. This used to be a good place to eat but they have lost something & are obviously more interested in evening business. Tables are too close together in these Covid times in my opinion and the likelihood of our returning is low. Plenty other places in Lewes that are more welcoming and better organised.

Myself and partner walked for 45 mins in Lewes trying to choose where to have breakfast (we avoid chains) however we came across this gem! We had a lovely breakfast, coffee was really good also. Stunning decor, cosy and great atmosphere. 100% recommend! Even if you're not vegan, you'll really enjoy this place!

We haven't been here since this place changed hands and became vegan. We had a coffee and I was a bit nervous when the waitress suggested oat milk which I had never tried before. I have to say it was delicious and I wouldn't have known it was a vegan alternative. We also tried a pain au chocolat with almonds and almond paste which was outstanding.

I visited the cafe this morning with a friend after she had recommended it to me. We both had a lovely time. The service was spot on, both friendly and attentive. The coffee was delicious and the coconut and chocolate croissant was amazing! Definitely recommending this place to all!

We visited yesterday and I’d been looking forward to eating there. It didn’t disappoint. The breakfast was amazing, so tasty, well cooked and beautifully presented. The coffee also was delicious. The cafe has outside seating surrounded by plants, indoor seating and a lovely cobbled area to the rear all within the old Needlemaker warehouse, full of interesting quirky shops and galleries. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and attentive which made for a fantastic first visit. Even if your not vegan - JUST GO!!! I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu.

We had a delicious meal at the Roundhill all vegan restaurant. Heads up the Buddha Bowl is HUGE! They got us a takeaway container for leftovers. Menu is small but done well and good punchy coffee. Artisan stalls there are great to explore and jewellers workshop is a highlight.

Looking for somewhere for a hot drink on the way home, we found the Needlemakers-Roundhill purely by chance. And I am glad that we did. An extremely interesting cafe, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the coffee was tasty. We were too late to try any food but we will be back because what was on offer on the menu sounded delicious. There's convenient parking right outside, although it's only a short-term car park.

Todays visit was not the first time I have stopped by. A full vegan menu with a wide range of choices, Perfect for coffees Highly recommended. (I am not vegan but I would not let that minor point stand in the way of a visit)

I wondered how they would manage after the second lockdown. It seems they used the opportunity to improve the kitchen and my vegan gluten free breakfast was absolutely delicious if not rather too large for me! Having said that I did manage to share the...

The Michelin Guide clarifies that service quality does not influence the awarding of a Michelin Star: “It’s entirely up to the restaurant to decide what style of service it wants to offer – and that has no bearing on a Michelin Star.” In Lewes, Dill restaurant exemplifies this distinction. The food is fine, although it doesn’t meet my expectations for Michelin-guide quality. The £200 bill for the table (excluding dessert, for reasons to become clear) doesn’t represent good value for money, in my opinion. However, taste and value are subjective. What is indisputable is the combination of a two-hour dining limit, slow service that consumes this entire period—leaving no time for dessert or after-dinner drinks—and the abrupt manner in which staff enforce this policy. Without prior warning, a staff member informed us, bluntly and curtly, that our time was up and we needed to pay and leave immediately. No desert for you, guys, by order of management. Despite our repeated requests, the manager never came to discuss and perhaps resolve what became a very unpleasant situation for us. Setting a time limit is acceptable if communicated in advance and aligned with the kitchen’s ability to serve promptly. When the first course arrives close to an hour after seating and the main course close enough to the two-hour mark, this is unacceptable. Having a staff member rudely dismiss guests whose time has expired, while the manager avoids addressing the situation, is worse. And so, if you’re inclined to dine at a restaurant with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, spend £200 for the table on reasonable but not great food without being allowed to order dessert or coffee, and enjoy being unceremoniously thrown out when your time is up by a rude staff member backed by an elusive manager who failed to deliver food on time—then Dill is indeed the place for you.

Used to go here regularly for lunch whilst working at Falmer campus. Five years on we revisited the Swan to see if much had changed. It hasn’t really, which is a shame, but we did kind of expect it. I would love loved to see a more progressive menu of traditional pub classics. Steak chunks in the pie, not minced. Calamari Rings isn’t a main in my food book, sorry. However, the food was hot, simple but tasty and came out quickly. Friendly staff as always.
