Nandos Chickenland in Exeter

My wife and I and our nephew and family visiting from Belgium chose Nando’s for lunch on a shopping trip to Exeter as we thought it would appeal particularly to the younger boys in the family. Whilst the food was ok, when we eventually received it, the ordering experience was horrendous. After being shown to our table and handed menus we were then directed to a prominent QR code which accesses the Nando menu online from which you can order your food. What a frustrating experience! We spent at least 20 minutes trying unsuccessfully to order our food and eventually reverted to going to the main counter and ordering there. The food took another twenty minutes to arrive so by the time we eventually relinquished our table the restaurant could have had double the number of customers using it. Why, whoever is in charge of these restaurants cannot simply employ servers who can take a simple food and drink order defeats me. If people are in town shopping they are looking for something to eat but not to spend an inordinate amount of time doing so. They want to order, eat, drink and get back to the shopping. Surely there is a better way and what if customers do not have a mobile. We were not advised when we were taken to our table that we had the option to order at the counter. A disappointing experience and one we will not be repeating any time soon.

Really impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. The food was very fresh tasting, chicken cooked to perfection. Very quick service too, starters arrived quickly, then mains with a perfect gap in between. Staff very helpful, Jasmine happy to get us anything and cleared the table up quickly in between courses. The Nando’s team all helped to create a great atmosphere in the restaurant.

Myself, my Mum and my niece went to the Princesshay branch on Good Friday 29th March for lunch. We were greeted immediately at the front door by a very polite Portuguese man. Only had to wait a minute for them to wipe down our table and then we were seated. Food was quick and hot. I accidentally knocked over my drink and a waitress called Nadia came over to clean it up. She was very friendly, polite and also offered to refill my glass. Just wanted to leave a review as it was busy but we still got five star service. Many thanks, Kriss.

Popped in today with my wife and some friends before heading to the cinema and planned it with plenty of time to spare ordered our food and drinks no problem then we continued to wait for over an hour for our food which ment we missed the 1st part if the film we had booked to see and when the food did finally come it was Luke warm at best, when they served us they didn’t serve the full table the brought mine and my wife’s and the friend had to wait an extra 10 minutes for there food in which time we had finished ours, needs serious man management or maybe employing more staff… think I can honestly say it was my 1st & possibly last time Il he visiting that store.. not impressed

Clearly understaffed as we had to wait an hour for a table because they couldn't clear them and waited 55 minutes for food to come after we ordered - only for 2 people - and one meal was wrong food. The staff wer q nice enough and the food was ok.

I took my son in for his end of school year treat. Food was delicious, so devoured by a ravenous 12 year old, The staff were welcoming, friendly and service was fab. Will definitely come in again, thank you!

1. Olives for starters were served with main meal,defeating the purpose for ordering starters. 2. 10 peri hot wings served burnt. 3. Bottomless drinks had ran out and instead dispensing sour flavoured water for sprite and dirty coloured water, for Coca-Cola. This affected lots of customers and was only resolved literally on our way out, when the manager explained something about having ran out of sirope. Makes me appreciate the nandos in Taunton to a different level.

Came to this store for Father’s Day and I won’t be returning. Drinks came out staggered. Myself, another adult and one of the children’s drinks didn’t come out at 30 minutes. I had to ask 3 times for my drinks. Food again came staggered which was fine. One of the 9 meals was brought out with a side they couldn’t eat and took a long time to replace. Staffs attitude around this wasn’t great. My chicken was stone cold and had to be returned. No apologies for any mistakes or delays were made.

The service was very quick and helpful, we were a party of 30 and the staff was really accommodating. The food was good and tasty.

Waited over half an hour for food. When it arrived the garlic bread was burnt and the mushroom pitta was cold. Retuned and was given another one. Ordered peri chips, got normal chips. Two tables next to us were given their money back as they’d waited even longer than us. Blooming shambles.

Came in for a quick lunch with my mum and service and food were great. Tuesday 10th lunch time- the young lady with the blonde hair and glasses was lovely and really attentive but not pushy! Keep it up 😊💙

Waited 40 minutes for our food, then had to ask what had happened to our order. After seeing 4 other tables being given food that had been seated after us! Then another wait of around 30 minutes to receive our food! Starter or dessert offered as way of appology. Food was average, definitely wouldn't visit again.

Sat down and ordered our food via QR code, waited 15 minutes, still no glasses delivered to the table for our bottomless drinks, had to go up to the till for these, hardly any response and no apology for this, the guy behind the counter just picked up our ticket which was just chucked on the side and forgotten about. Food delivered to the table; my partner was missing the garlic bread from his order, 10 minutes later, still no garlic bread. Asked presumably the manager for the garlic bread, was brought out cremated, which my partner then asked why does mine not look like the others, her response was, “this is how they look”, we then had a replacement garlic bread brought over, which the manager said “is this better” in a sarcastic tone. Terrible service, restaurant was messy and all of the staff were either uninterested or just talking amongst themselves. Felt extremely uncomfortable after and just wanted to leave after this. Me and my partner are both restaurant managers and we understand being short staffed and long Saturday shifts, however the “manager” did not manage the busy Saturday and all of the staff looked over worked and miserable. Head office, pay your staff more and reduce the working hours, it was a hot mess and they clearly cannot cope without snapping at customers.

A warm welcome, a clean table & pleasant atmosphere. We chose our food, ordered at the bar & had just a few minutes to relax before our food arrived, piping hot & well presented. We didn't have much time, so really appreciated having paid beforehand so we could finish our meal & leave. The food, ambiance & service were all excellent!

Amazing service! Was very busy but still seated us within 10 mins. Dave the waiter was amazing did everything to ensure we was happy customers. I don’t leave reviews normally but in this case Dave sorted out a little problem with outstanding professional way. I’m fussy eater and re-cooked a fresh burger with in seconds. Very happy customer! Well, this review is as unprecedented as the current climate we live in, because I had fast food that wasn't KFC, McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut or Domino's and I loved it!Myself and my wife attended this traditional African Portuguese restaurant on the advice of our grandson Eli,who said we would love the traditional "vibe" and the many meat options, or at least various menu options of one meat, the humble poullet.Now myself and Mrs R were amazed that there was so much more you could do with a chicken than just roasted or souped, we even noticed "chicken pitta" on the menu! Those Greeks really have influenced all modern western society rather well.But enough classical history, let's get down to the food.I plumped for the half a peri peri (so good they named it twice) chicken and Mrs R had the "tender lover" chicken in a pitta with salad and a mint and coriander dressing, Mrs R cheekily exclaimed that the name of her dish reminded her of being an au pair in 1970's Biarritz, at this I exclaimed that pudding was now off the menu.What can I say about our first totally traditional African Portuguese dining experience? Well, the stickiness of the chicken, the spicy range of sauces, the 45 min queue amongst Love Island rejects for a table, the social distancing rules, the smell of sanitiser in the air, all these things and more gave us the kind of dining experience that many will not have yet all must try and do.Nandos, you took us on a whirlwind of paltry goodness from Lisbon via Mozambique and back again and we loved it. My partner and I absolutely love a Nando’s. We live in Barnstaple but will travel to Exeter for lunch/dinner and a movie. The gentleman server with the moustache, slim build and quite short in stature is friendly, welcoming and overall hospitable. I’ve never caught his name unfortunately. The menu is diverse and you can look at nutritional information on Nando’s website. I’ve recently found their Macho Peas! Delish!! The food is quick but without you thinking it’s been pre held and heated up. The temperature is always acceptable/hot and the taste is fantastic. It’s a very busy restaurant and you can see a high turnover of customers. You’ll walk in with a load of people but when you leave a whole new load are sat down. You have to be impressed with the running of it. Thank you for our visits, you’re all doing a fab job and we’ll certainly see you again soon. Alex

We have not been to a Nandos for about 10 years and we cannot understand why not. The chicken was just so good fresh, juicy and tender. The place was busy but the service was excellent. We will not wait another 10 years to go to Nando's.

i think the prices are ridiculous up there. i would rather take my family to mc donald, as quality of food is at the same level.

It may seem pointless to review a Nandos as they are all the same. However I feel this one needs a special shout out to the friendly and welcoming staff. The gentleman who showed us to the table was great and helpful finding a suitable table for our 2yr old who was asleep in her push chair. The food was lovely. This is the first time I decided to be different and have a pitta. My new favourite!

I love a visit to nandos the food was excellent chicken cooked to perfection not dry but lovely and juicey. Service was fast even though they were busy. Tables were kept clear and staff were very friendly. All in a lovely experience and we will definatly go there again when we are in the area.

Visited the restaurant twice on our multi centre visit through Cornwall. Easy to find and not 5 mins from our Premier Inn.This is exactly as you would expect from a Nando's, great food, great atmosphere, and exceptional staff. The cashier was very helpful in explaining the redemption of the chillies on our Nando's card and ended up saving £15 on each visit by basically ending up with one free meal - superb.The table staff were highly attentive, but on our second visit we got to see this Nando's in full flight. It was busy, with a queue out the door, but the extreme efficiency and attentiveness of all the staff was exceptional. No wait on the food, yet still felt like individuals and not rushed -truly magical to witness.Exceptionally clean too - all credit to this particular restaurant.

Despite being busy, we got a table outside straight away. Great service, yummy food. My daughter was particularly pleased with the refill glass idea as it was a hot day. Will go again for sure.

Went for lunch with a friend and my 6 month old daughter, I just wanted to shout out to a couple of the staff who made us feel super welcome!

We loved our experience at Nandos in Exeter today. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, we hadn't been before so they had to explain the system. We ordered the haloumi sticks and chilli jam to start and then chicken in various forms! The chicken was delicious but the stars are the side orders - the superfood salad and the spicy rice were so good. Great, will be visiting again!

I visited nandos in exeter with my daughter and was eventually seated. I had a chicken burger which was nice and my daughter had a beanie wrap as she is vedgetarian.i asked for sauce on both, when she tried beanie wrap it was so much sauce it overpowered the meal. So i stopped a waiter/ cook and said the problem and that my daughter was vedgetarian and he asked if I would like another wrap which she was happy to accept, it came back and she noticed she had been given a chicken wrap!. She went home still hungry ....

Tried the fino pitta for the first time which was lovely. Daughter had the wrap which was more salad than chicken. She doesn’t like to make a fuss so left without saying the chicken/salad ratio was all wrong. We’d like to see more chicken in the wraps in future guys!

Domingo is fantastic, always makes it better than any other Nando’s I visit. The Food also great always, will def be visiting again. See you soon, thanks

My girlfriend took me to Nando's as a lunchtime treat. I had always avoided Nando's, mainly due to them only serving chicken, but I have to say that it was fantastic.

Visited this Nando’s twice in as many weeks. Once with 13 of us on a busy Friday lunch and once on my own on a quiet Tuesday. Both times the service was impeccable. Fast food at its best. Delicious and freshly cooked! Very friendly and chatty staff, nothing too much trouble. Jorge who appears to be the manager/greeter makes you feel very welcome and even offered to get my refillable drink so I didn’t have to leave my shopping when I was on my own. Highly recommend the fino pitta! It’s a good idea to book at peak times especially if there is a few of you as on the Friday lunchtime there was a queue out of the door and if that doesn’t say something then nothing will! Will definitely be back when I’m next in Exeter.

I have eaten here so many times over the years and the majority of the time I have been sat by Domingo. What a lovely person to be welcomed in to Nando’s. Each time you walk in he always has a big smile on his face and is extremely welcoming just like you are an old friend. What a great asset to the Exeter branch!!

Have been to this branch several times over the years. It always been very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Been twice in the last six months and both times have been a let-down. Dirty food covered floors, uncleared tables for the duration of our meal, rude, unhelpful, slovenly staff walking round drinking out of paper cups whilst serving the food in dirty uniforms. The food service area on both occasions was very messy and obviously unorganised. The toilets were filthy. Waited over 45 minutes for food the second time we went even though it wasn’t busy. Food was then served cold and side orders not there. When we questioned where they were, we were told to prove it with our receipt!! We did, but surely the kitchen has a copy of what we ordered?? No apology was forthcoming-the side orders were just dumped on the table with a grunt-we had not been rude or made a fuss. This Nando’s used to be one of nicest I have ever been to. We won’t be going again-what’s happened??!!

I think we were lucky with timing on a Sunday afternoon and our wait wasn’t particularly long in this clearly busy restaurant.

I have been to Nando’s a couple of times and tuis was by far the best trip. The food was lovely and hot, and I felt it was good value for money. The staff were very upbeat and attentive. The only downside is the sheer volume of the loud background noise. It’s hard to have a conversation as your voice gets drowned out.

The heating/air conditioning is broken and seems like it has for awhile. The food is per any Nando’s decent chicken and sides.

A group of 5, we were lucky to get a table which shows how popular this restaurant is. I don’t see why. We were shown to our table and then left to choose and order, no problem. We went to the bar to place our order and pay, we wanted to order together and pay bits of the bill separately but they couldn’t do that, even though we had worked out the amounts for them. So we ordered and sat down and waited for the food. Our food all turned up within a few minutes of each other so that was quite good considering we ordered separately. They managed to get 2 orders wrong and it took a good 10 minutes to find someone to rectify these mistakes, which was surprising considering the amount of staff they had on. The issues were dealt with and we finally got to eat our meals.

Food always great here and nice atmosphere as soon as you walk into the door. There is normally a queue but you’re never left waiting too long and food always arrives promptly. The amount of times I’ve been an always felt so welcome by your staff member Domingo, treats you like a friend. We were sat closely to the door this time, an it was amazing to see him interact with every customer, young an old and he even made a special effort to stop us both and say goodbye as we were leaving! All credit to him!!

Been here many a times and never disappoints. I know it’s a chain and all Nandos food etc is the same but the staff here really make you want to go back. They make you feel so welcome as soon as you step in the door until the moment you leave.

A 15 minute for a table which is find as it suggests good demand and high quality. We were shown to a table, still wet from its wipe over and not dried. The table had a view over the kitchen which was chaotic to watch and waste and food packaging were piling up all around the food prep and cooking area..it didn't look good! Chicken was very dry and although the skin was fiery hot the flesh was absolutely flavourless. Absolute disgrace and complete waste of money!!

We as a family absolutely love Nando’s! The food is always spot on with all the scrummy spices and not to forget the lovely chilled Savanna cider. Always our first choice when going to Exeter. We love NANDOS

As a group, the dishes arrived at different time and finally when my dish arrived, it was totally cold! The same for another friend and my daughter burger. Two of sides didn't arrived and when we requested to change the food, they return it back after a long time and they were just marginally warmer. By that time the rest of the group have been finished their dinner! When we complained politely to the serving woman, she didn't do anything/.

Nandos Exeter has become a firm family favourite with us. Always, the staff and management are happy to greet us with smiles and warmth, creating an atmosphere of being wanted and valued as a customer. The menu is brilliance and caters for all tastes. The chicken livers in a Portuguese roll are out of this world, the chicken cooked to perfection, as ordered with my favourite medium nandos sauce. The chips are always served fresh and hot and the 2m Mozambique lager is a delight. In life, you get what you pay for, with nandos you get more, great quality, quantity, great service and a dining experience that sets the standard for all restaurants to follow.

The food was great but not even close to Portuguese food, my mother, brother and myself are Portuguese origin and we know our food really well,not saying the food wasn’t good but it wasn’t close to Portuguese chicken at all, I’m a chef myself and i marinate my chicken and do my own Sauce which was passed by generations!! The staff was superbly helpful and the atmosphere was fantastic I felt like I was at home!!

Being regulars at Nando’s, this is the worst one we have encountered. Once food was ordered, we got our drinks which tasted funky, not like they should have. We then waited over half an hour for our food, and then had to chase for it again.

Recently joined my mum for lunch in this Nando’s branch. We were pleasantly greeted at the door and told we could ‘chose our table’ as the restaurant was almost empty. As I approached the counter to place our order, the manager was stood at one till with his head down while two other staff members chatted behind him. The manager didn’t look up or even acknowledge me standing there, he instead waited for one of the others to finish his conversation and serve me. The young man who served me was polite and attentive, perhaps you should reevaluate your management team?

We visited this restaurant for a light bite during our annual visit. This was a first for the boss, Once we had understood the system all went smoothlu ,service was prompt for this very busy outlet but polite and friendly . Front of house was very quicky and tactile, such that this might be difficult for some people. The chicken was excellent for the price and we both found this a pleasurable experience.

first and last visit to this place, we did not see any signs to say we needed to wait to be seated it was not busy so we found a table, when the waiter came over he was shouting at us that we had to wait to be seated, he said it over and over getting louder and louder we just got up and left as a customer you do not expect that treatment awful experience.

Tasty food in a buzzing restaurant. Very much what you'd expect of a large chain. Food of an acceptable, uniform standard with happy staff. Makes a welcome change from going to McDonalds.

Classic Nando's, never dissapoints. Visited here on a rainy day after some shopping and decided to opt for something other than the norm. Had the sharing platter (medium) with bottomless drinks and 4 regular sides (garlic bread, coleslaw, peri salted chips and spicy rice) which was all delicious. Certainly made up for the weather after a long day in the wet!

Why does everybody rave about this chain it’s just chicken ?? First time visitor with family and fair enough the food was very nice but it’s just like a posh KFC, I prefer variety on a menu. The dessert menu was very poor aswell.

I've been to Nando's Exeter a few times now, and every time I have had an equally good experience. Sometimes, I've had to queue to get a table, which shows just how popular this Nando's is - but even when it's really busy, the service is still quick and friendly and the food is still great. This is a great place to come with friends as it caters to all tastes and has a good vegetarian menu, too. The bottomless soft drinks are ideal for students on a budget, and the food is just spot on every time. Would definitely recommend - always my first suggestion when going out with friends.

You can’t beat a Nando’s , the staff are great, the menu is great however in my opinion could have a specials board offering new things as the menu is the same all the time :)

There is rarely much of a queue and when there is it goes down quickly as there is a fair amount of seating.

Brilliant service when it comes to allergies, my daughter has multiple which is a real struggle when It comes to eating out so Nando's is now our go to.

Exeter branch of Nando's in the city centre. If you haven't been before (where have you been ?), this chain serves Portuguese grilled chicken ranging in spiciness from plain to very hot ! It's good value at circa at tenner for a main and two sides and relatively healthy compared to other fast food outlets. Service was very friendly and quick. Well worth a visit !

We've been visiting this branch of Nandos for a quite a few years now. Never had a problem, food always excellent and service first class. There's one particular member of staff who's always very kind and welcoming and I only managed to catch his name today. So Domingo, you're an absolute credit to Nandos and I hope your management read this. Highly recommended!!

Me and a friend visited this place last night, we have both been before but it's been a while since I've last visited. We arrived at 6:45 and were offered the choice of many tables where we could sit, my friend had then ordered the food which arrived so quickly! We both really enjoyed our meals, mine was the sunset burger and hers the butterfly chicken. We were offered a sweet once we had finished which we both declined as we both were very happy and full. The customer service was great and the staff seem to be happy to be there. I will be coming back again even if it's not in the near future.

Have always loved Nandos. Love the fresh and tasted roast chicken and the great selection of sauces

We came here as we where in Exeter on holiday, food was ok really nothing special and not as good as our local Nando's, staff where not very welcoming and just wanted you out quick.
