Had a wonderful lunch at Nancarrow, the venue is lovely, the staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is amazing! We went with our children who are 10 and 8 and they enjoyed the food too. We were lucky with the weather, it was beautifully sunny so we sat outside to eat in a fantastic courtyard. Having seen Nancarrow on a Rick Stein cookery show on Cornwall we wanted to visit to experience the food and it didn’t disappoint.

Lovely place in a quiet valley, part of a working farm. We stayed overnight and were able to walk round the farm, visiting the impossibly cute lambs and piglets. The farm supper was delicious and filling, service exceptional. Breakfast next day was great. What stands out is the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the lovely location, the freshness and local sourcing of the food - it not only tastes better, it looks better on the plate. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. Great stay which will even better once the A30 roadworks are finished.

Fabulous! We stayed overnight and enjoyed an evening meal. The room was perfect, Beautifully styled, and right opposite the dining room. There was a residents lounge upstairs, running the full length of the barn , with a welcoming log burner at one end. The evening meal was amazing. We’d advised in advance that we are vegetarian, and each course served was superb. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and homely. The food served is produced on the farm. Breakfast was served in the main dining room, and again had a wide range of choices. Guests are able to walk around the farm and see the lambs, greenhouses, ponds etc. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely setting, fantastic food, and great accommodation! Thank you to the team at Nancarrow. After spotting this gem on television a couple of years ago, my partner and I ventured over. The food, room, and staff did not fail to impress. The supper was delicious, only to be matched by the quality of the breakfast and service from everyone we met. Although we popped over in March, I can readily see how this would come into its own in the summer. I can not recommend this enough.

A really excellent meal. Good quality, excellent flavours, plenty of meat and vegetables. Nice choice of cocktails, English and foreign wines, a couple of Cornish craft beers. Staff were all very friendly and good at their jobs. Breakfast was lovely as well. You can walk along the wildlife trail, we just did a short section as we didn’t know how long it would take. The farm setting is nice. We were hoping for our Shepherd’s hut to give us more of a farm experience in the countryside, listening to the birds and farm noises. There was a wedding in the small field next to us with activities and music from when we arrived at 4pm until 11pm. There’s no TV or WiFi in the hut either (as expected) we’d have turned that up. The walls in the hut are thin. So whether you’re inside or outside you can hear the music and it’s a bit of a thud through the wall even if it’s not really loud. I personally found it quite tiring. The Shepherd’s hut information says they have shared bathroom facilities. We were thinking we were sharing with the people in the other 2 huts. The toilets are shared with the restaurant, located in the courtyard and there’s one shower in the disabled toilet. The alarm radio in the room went off at 8am (not sure if another guest had set it..!) Then we could hear the birds and natural sounds which was lovely. A lovely meal, and it looks like a great place for a wedding. We will definitely visit again for the meal and perhaps a different room location if there’s choice

We had a summer Sunday lunch with music playing, enjoyed a couple of drinks and a walk around the farm. Visited with family for Sunday lunch. 2nd sitting. Location is lovely. I had high expectations based on reviews. However, I found the food very disappointing. The roast beef was undercooked and tough as old boot. It also had a weird smoky flavor that stay with you after eating. It’s tasted like they had poured a bottle of liquid smoke over all the meat! I couldn’t eat any of it. The roast potatoes had been over roasted so the outsides were hard and tasteless. The vegetables were very good though, I enjoyed those. Overall nor worth the money. I will go elsewhere for further Sunday lunches.

The ceremony was in the old barn and the rest of the day was spent on site - the food throughout the day was just superb, from the canapes before the sit down meal, the meal itself (wonderful beef with a variety of green vegetables and crispy potato) and then in the evening a superb lamb and salad on pitta. I was really excited to go to a winter feast and It did feel special and the staff were lovely. It was only one man playing the guitar but the music was really good. The food was not nearly as good as I expected, it had a feel of mass catering . My main issue was everything was dry. There was no sause or gravy with any course. I would have liked even one potato with the main course. Except the horrible rice pudding like millet element that oddly came with the main course. It pains me to say this but the poached pear was so disappointing . It sounded amazing and it is my favourite pudding but it tasted like a tinned pear with a scoop of cream cheese and soggy ginger crumbs. It was so noisey with over 100 people and nothing to dampen the noise, I couldn’t hear my husband at all accoss the table. My final winge is there was no tea or coffee at the end. I was desperate for a warm drink after the dinner and you couldn’t even buy one. Fewer people may have made for a more enjoyable evening.

Attended the Midsummers Eve Feast at Nancarrow and enjoyed it immensely. The whole evening was superbly organised and managed with great attention to detail. There were more than enough staff to assist with everything from serving the food to welcoming you and showing you where to park and everyone was friendly and helpful and just being unobtrusive. The setting is perfect - an idyllic organic farm with a mix of traditional timber and brick buildings arranged to leave plenty of space for the al fresco dining we experienced. It all combined to make a memorable evening - a perfect place to relax, stroll around the farm, take in the calm vibe of the place or listen to some live music before sitting down to eat. There were exhibition quality sweet peas on the tables and a seating plan sensibly placing couples opposite one another to maximise the opportunity to get to know your fellow guests . The key was a fascinating explanation by one of the chefs detailing the exact ingredients and preparation process for each course of the meal. This made it extra special when the food was servedAltogether a highlight of our holiday . Nancarrow is a very special place for a rustic gourmet experience and judging from the comments of the many " returners" we spoke with it is also the most incredible wedding venue.

Have to say going on the hottest so far this year was a bonus. Magical place, a fantastic evening, ate at a massive line of trestle tables (17 in all 6 to a table). Ideal for a group of friends or family, but we went as a couple and sat next to some delightful people, much younger than us but the were all very friendly and chatty a great time was had by all. Though if you only like dinning as a couple then it's not for you. The situation is idyllic, the barns and farm buildings have been renovated to a very high standard, didn't get a chance to see the accommodation, they do B&B, but looks good on website.Couple we sat next too are getting married there in 8 weeks time. The staff were very friendly welcoming and very efficient. Welcoming drink of elderflower and prosecco with by nibbles of roasted radish with either pea purée fried onions or taramasalata, pork crackling, very tasty. It was a very magical experience whole place, the tables and the yard were decorated beautifully. There was even time to wonder round the farm and see the animals. The food was scrumptious see menu in photo.

Big thanks to everyone for making our friends wedding such a success.

We were looking forward to our first Feast night at Nancarrow having heard how popular they were. At £38 a head we were expecting something really special but we were so disappointed. I couldn't fault the welcome and the surroundings are just lovely. They've managed to create a wonderful ambience in the big barn with the long trestle tables, the wood burner, candles and flowers. What a shame about the food. The starter was basically a potato salad - the "ox cheek" was barely visible on the plate having been grated so finely that you couldnt taste it at all. The "cultured" butter tasted rancid. The beef slices arrived on a tray (one per person) and it was barely lukewarm. The pieces were small - slightly larger than the palm of my hand and of varying thicknesses. It was delicious but it would have been so much nicer had it been hot. The accompaniments were tasty too but, again, not enough of them to fill us up. The lemon meringue pie was lovely but only about a teaspooonful of meringue. I would have like less pretentiousness - more hearty food with the beef being the star of the show - not the "frilly" bits around it. By all means charge £38 per person but make sure that the meat accounts for the largest part of the charge. The staff were brilliant - friendly, helpful and hard working! The music was excellent - the perfect choice for the event and not intrusive. Sadly, we won't be rushing back - and such a shame as we live locally!

I've been wanting to attend one of these feats nights for a long time and we finally made it. An all round fab night - great service from the minute we were greeted with a drink, the ambience, the umbrellas (!) the beautiful barn, the super friendly staff, the quirky poem, the delicious meal (that we were lucky enough to see cooking outside on the fire), just sorry we left it so long to attend out first one but we'll definitely be back!

I so wanted to love the food tonight; the menu looked amazing. We arrived, the welcome and ambience were great, our table-neighbours were charming. It's such a shame that the food wasn't. The portions were tiny! The food is served on platters to be shared by six, and there just wasn't enough. There was perhaps a tablespoon of hoggett, 3 new potatoes and a couple of tablespoons of peas. It was so disappointing. To add insult to injury, the lamb tasted of mackerel! Pudding was tiny and disappointing too, a thick pastry base and a rhubarb and egg custard that tasted of nothing but egg. The chance of chef has seriously influenced the food here, and for £38 each I wanted to have a feast I loved.

My wife and I went to the feast night on 11 March with 2 friends. It was our first visit and we thought it was a lovely location and we enjoyed the atmosphere. On the plus side, the first 2 courses were good but the desert was very disappointing - a rhubarb tart with little rhubarb and very poor pastry. The negatives for us were the portion sizes. At a "feast" you don't expect to have to count out the potatoes to ensure everyone in the group has something to eat. The service was also very slow - there could have been more staff manning the bar and serving the tables. The staff that were there were very pleasant - there just weren't enough of them. The general noise level was also very high - there are lots of hard surfaces and the venue would benefit from more soft fabrics to deaden the noise. The high level of noise was then added to by some music that couldn't be enjoyed because of the high general level of background noise and instead the music added to that level of background noise which meant people had to talk even louder. All in early I think those in charge of the feast night are being somewhat greedy, the evening would have benefited from fewer people, larger portion sizes and a lower price - £38 was too high for this modest "feast".

Firstly you have to admire how a farm has diversified and got it right.Came here to their feast night in November, a chilly evening but one which added to the outdoor atmosphere, nice bit of music and raring barbque fire. Outdoor pheasant legs and wings with a glass of white port, leading onto a fairly priced bar and a range of drinks not always found in a pub say. Huge barn with very effective log-burner made for a warm and atmospheric atmosphere. Food was all meat and produced on the farm including the vegatables. Nice touch for the chef to announce the menu before serving. Must mention the hard working staff who ensured all the food was brought out as quickly as possible. Constant topping up of water jugs and clearing of glasses made for a tidy table,Guitar player moved inside for meal, I expect he was glad about that as he spent 45 minutes outside prior and it was cold!Overall it would hard to fault this well organised, yet simplistic set-up.Be quick if you want to get a ticket!

Fantastic feast night here at Nancarrow Farm. Great location, food, service, atmosphere. From start to finish first class all the way, roaring log fires, great music just faultless the whole night. If you have chance to book the Feast Night you will not be disappointed at all. We spoke with guests that had booked accommodation and they said it was perfect. So we are going to book well in advance next time and stay overnight. Many thanks to all staff who made our evening perfect.

This is not a regular restaurant, they do special Feast nights during the year using produce from the farm. Last night we went to our third feast, the tickets sell out very quickly as they only take about 100 people. You sit on long tables which is very sociable, people actually talk to each other. The food is served on platters of slate which you help yourself to, each table is for about 6 people in sections. Last night the menu was started off by a gathering in the courtyard with White port and aperitif of Salsify with a smoked Hay mayo. Whilst mingling by the fire which was cooking the saddles of Nancarrow lamb for the main course which we had after Barn Ale & Rye glazed bread, Roasted cauliflower ,cumin, lemon buttermilkj Old Winchester, sourdough & sorrel. The lamb was served with Roasted autumnal root veg, tamarind ,sage, Put lentils, black garlic, spinach, fine beans, Cavelo nero salsa verde. and to finish it off Hazelnut & Muscavado Tart & Sweete corn Beignets, Anise sugar. It's definitely worth the £35 pp. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I just hope I can get tickets for the December Feast as November is sold out.

I attended a family wedding at this stunning venue. I cannot praise this place highly enough. The buildings were all beautiful and well appointed. The reception room was excellent, the staff attentive and friendly. All of the food from the canopies through the meal to the hog roast in the evening was exeptional.Highly recommend for any family event.

You can't get more locally sourced food than this. This unique family run farm situated in a wonderful Cornish location really does give you a taste of what farm produce and hedgerow delicacies can taste like when cooked in such rustic but creative way. A modern barn built in a traditional style gave a really welcoming experience In which you could not help to meet new friends whilst enjoying good food served by charming and efficient staff. An evening of sheer enjoyment.

We are hooked. There's something very special going on here. We wanted to go for a while but were never quite fast enough to grab tickets before they sold out. Now we are about to go to our fourth on Friday and can't wait. The food is always outstanding. The intros and welcomes from the family make it a little more special and when that's combined with meeting new people in a gorgeous, country environment, it really is one of my favourite places... Ever.

My sister finally decided to marry! We live in Brazil. When we heard the wedding was in a farm in place called Truro in Cornwall I was a bit puzzled. You see, for non-UK people like us, Cornwall seem something so distant a far of, that I couldn´t imagine what to expect! So we did or 5000 plus miles trip to the wedding and what a surprise!Rustic place! The food albeit simple, was excellent! Staff was very friendly (as most people we found in the region!). The party was a success and I can´t emphasize enough the good service and location!

When my daughter decided to get married in Cornwall I was a little hesitant, a 700 mile round trip and at a farm! But any doubts disappeared when my wife and I visited Nancarrow at Easter prior to the wedding in August. The setting, the Barn itself, the accommodation are all top class. Shabby chic/rustic it ticked all the boxes for my daughter and we had the most amazing experience. The food itself is exceptional, both the barbeque on the Tuesday evening, the post ceremony canapés and the wedding meal itself were 5 star quality. We even had breakfast provided the day after the wedding and again top class quality food, thanks to the chef Ben who I believe previously worked at 15, one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants. Heather who runs the whole experience is a brilliant organiser, always in the background to help when needed but never in your face. She makes sure you get the very best experience possible. The rest of the staff on the day gave 100% and where polite, efficient and friendly - well done to you all! Nancarrow also do Fine Dining evenings which my daughter and husband have attended and these too I'm told are top rate. I'll certainly try to get to one myself next time I visit Cornwall.

My family and I attended a wedding here in July and stayed in one of the onsite rooms for 2 nights. If you're looking for a modern rustic barn then Nancarrow is a great choice. It's situated in the middle of nowhere, down a dirt track & was quite hard to find. There aren't many rooms onsite, so you'll have to be selective who stays. There's a cute pond at the back of the venue & in the main building there's an open planned living/dining area which is impressive. Some guests also stayed in the field where they have tents setup. Our room was modern with a rustic / country twist. It's a shame there was no shower - only a bath. Unfortunately the owners of the venue didn't buy enough gas for the weekend, so when we were trying to get ready on the Saturday morning there was no hot water. Overall it was a nice venue but the staff didn't come across as friendly or as helpful as I'd have expected considering it was a wedding.

I really enjoyed visiting this place. In fairness I was at a wedding reception; and that is something they clearly do very well.Charming buildings located on a farm but with a lovely contemporary feel about them. The *barn* is an attractive space overlooking a beautiful pond with somewhat rudimentary benches. But the food was excellent; speciality barbecued beef lovingly cooked over oak. Generous and very impressive. It has accommodation (maybe worth considering).

Nancarrow Farm was the venue for my niece's wedding recently. I cannot recommend Nancarrow highly enough as a venue - and the food that they served was absolutely delicious. Farm bred beef and lamb cooked on the outdoor BBQ was superb. The team were extraordinarily friendly and helpful and made the event a pleasure to organise and host. The barn is a wonderful space for an event....and the accompanying bedrooms in the barn were a real pleasure to stay for a few nights before and after the wedding.

As unusual eateries go this has to be as clever a use of architecture and 'fun' (with food) as you will get. The barn, location for the evenings entertainment, whilst new is a cavernous wooden framed and beamed place, a wood clad and glazed affair. One that, on the face of it, comfortably caters for around one hundred(ish) eager guests through the interior trestle table style arrangement, aided by a small outside bar area (the facility for open door dining at times of supportive weather conditions is there)Sadly Autumn in Cornwall, with all its well known shortcomings (various types, angles and weight of rain, same with wind and light, to name but a few of the many) conspired against that on the night but if your location is apt, just who cares?Throw in to the mix a very individual menu and you should 'tick all those boxes' and in many ways the place does. Our feast night - 15/11/14 - was great fun, the sitting arrangement creating the infamous conversation 'triangles' but if you multiply that by one hundred plus people doing the same the noise level started to unravel the evenings overall feeling of 'fun'. Here I have to say that providing skilled musicians to entertain also only works when you can hear them? The food itself was interesting, clever and tasty albeit arriving at table in an ad hoc manner, requiring an almost 'back to school days' approach to its distribution. Whilst this also bent itself to the informal, warm atmosphere of the place it also required, shall we say, a degree of entente cordial when in a 'mixed' aka eclectic group of strangers?Do not be confused by parts of this review. If you wish to go somewhere by yourself, with family, friends, whoever, it is a place that is unique, for a very sociable evening and is definitely the place for you.We will go back.

Calling this place a café is misleading, it's so much more. We should have booked but friendly staff found us a table. Great food and service and the place was buzzing! Really recommend!

Not been here for 45 years. A huge mistake. Not your average tourist pub, but just settle into the atmosphere and it's a great place to have a drink without any pretensions.
