Nana's Pita in Southend-on-Sea

Always skeptical when trying new places on takeaway apps, but the chicken gyros wrap was absolutely delicious. I'm always wary of chicken not being cooked enough, but pleasantly it was completely cooked and the wrap itself was soft and fluffy, the salad wasn't bad, and the sauces were great. The chips were standard, thick and fluffy on the inside. Would definitely recommend!

Delicious Cretan food (from the Isle of Crete) Had the humus, halloumi salad, and pita. All good. Was empty and sat outside Wasn't much of a vibe and service was friendly but in obvious. Good experience

Food was absolutely incredible, I had a halloumi pitta and it was honestly just beautiful. Nicest Greek food I’ve had will definitely be back. Do not use just eat to order tho just eat are awful, go and collect it or dine in it’ll be worth it x

This is definitely not a Greek restaurant - the people running it are a different nationality totally. ‘Nana’s chips’ taste like Iceland frozen chips. My first 2 real Greek dish choices were unavailable so I chose a lamb suvlaki. I had trouble removing the pieces from the skewers and the pieces that weren’t total fat were so hard to chew that I had to leave them! The ‘Greek Salad’ was a few bits of salad thrown together, no dressing at all!! What a waste of £45!!!!!

What a load of rubbish. Zero greek authenticity! When asked if their Mousakka or Pistichio is homemade, the server replied with ‘umm I don’t think so’. After receiving our soulvaki I now realise absolutley nothing from the menu is homemade. I do not have a positive comment for this establishment so I highly recommend people to steer clear if you’re looking for good quality, authentic greek food!

Fantastic food, friendly team. Seems to do more on line delivery service now, so restaurant seems to be just a little bit secondary - just a sign of the times I suppose.

Possibly some of the worst food I’ve had in my 46 years on this planet. If you’ve ever been to Greece you wont recognize the food they serve up at this place. The chicken was drier than the Sahara and cooked over a grill, not coals. The salad was about as far from a Greek salad as you could get, a few lettuce leaves and tomato off cuts and the chips were cold. The waitress could sense our displeasure and to her credit offered some semi thawed baklava and cake. Avoid.

The Souvlaki Chicken was dry and tasteless. No pitas with the delivery meant I had to go out to collect them (meaning my meal got cold)!! Mistakes can be made but there was no real concern over the error nor the fact that I had to come out to collect them!! Poor service and poor food!!

Ordered on the app for colletion and went to collect. Once I arrived the guy said they didnt take orders on their website and would have to make the order now and the wait would be 20 minutes! The whole point of having a website to order collection is that I can arrive and pick up the order once it is made. To top it off the quality and quatity of food was no where near on par with previous orders and teh portion size was less than half of the last order. Whole experiance has really put me off going there again which is a shame as before the food has been great.

Souvlaki chicken (plate) was completely dry - stuck on the wooden stick . Possibly grilled hours ago and heated in the microwave. The grilled halloumi was completely tasteless. Only pita was tasted. Sorry for this review Nana but you have to take your menu, especially when you are out

Popped in on Saturday for brunch. Fantastic food and service, very reasonable prices , highly recommended.

You want a /kebab/, but it doesn't tickle your fancy ordering yet another rendition of a lamb & chicken shish mix - submerged, as is tradition, in a chilly and garlic vat. So what do you do? Provided you dont want to default to Ye old Mcdonald's like a gimp chicken with a skin fade... You order Nana's Special! A chicken and pork gyro mixed well with a bunch of stuff that's a welcome departure from donnor monotony. Decent place.

Highly recommend!! Best place around for Greek food!!! Food has never let us down, always hot and tasty and presentation always stop on!! Staff are also lovely, especially the owner! One of the nicest blokes I’ve met! If you want Greek don’t look no further! So worth the drive every time we go! Wish I could give you more stars!

Lovely Greek food, sit in or takeaway...good portion sizes. Good prices ..staff are friendly and approachable and will help with any questions or requests....just a note if you want to sit down small inside with a few tables inside and out . Everything looks clean

Visited the restaurant yesterday for a quick lunch and sadly I was disappointed with the food as they were not up to greek standards Looking at the menu and some of the food were not available. It is not recommended and I will not visit again nana's pitta.

As good as any gyros pita I've had in Greece. Really fine and tasty ingredients used. We'll definitely be back soon.

To the owner, why would I want to sit inside on such a glorious day?, this has absolutely nothing to do with my pooch and has a matter of fact I had to change the table outside so the wind didnt blow my way the smell from inside. The photo is uploaded to provide the information I wrote was correct, the taste and presentation was very very poor. As a matter of fact this has nothing to do with my pooch so please do not insinuate it has, shifting the blame from poor food and service onto a Customer who came to your establishment directly sat outside and was hoping to have a decent Greek breakfast. Unacceptable response from you...

Had never ordered from here before but thought we would give it a try…never again! Our order never arrived and despite ringing the restaurant and speaking to 2 members of staff and the owner, received absolutely no help to find what had happened to the order. They said they had no details of the driver who had collected the order and once it had left them it was out of their hands. One member of staff refused to give her name in case I needed to confirm who had provided me with info and even said they had no info about my order as they had too many. £40 down and no food delivered. Treated disgracefully.

We ordered via Deliveroo it arrived quickly and warm. However I ordered a chicken and pork Gyros think it was the speacial. I couldn’t find any pieces of chicken just some dry pieces of shredded pork. Very disappointed. I don’t normally write reviews but this wasn’t great, it’s a shame as the flavour of everything else was good and the bread

Having to revise my previously four star review, to reflect our most recent visit. The food is still very good but the service we received on Sunday afternoon was truly atrocious. Not only did we wait a very long time to be greeted when we entered the restaurant, the young man that served us was so preoccupied with his phone, that we struggled on several occasions to get his attention. He forgot one of the items from our order (there were only 3) and didn’t check on us once during the meal. There were also several items that were off the menu, which was not communicated to us when we sat down. We will probably give this place another chance, but won’t be in any rush to do so

Food is very good, took my son here. He had the chicken Gyros and I had the nannas special Gyros, very plentiful and very flavourful. Nice cosy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Thanks again for the nice food.

First of many visits I’m sure to this lovely eatery… a few of us had a takeaway dinner; we had a couple of ‘plate for 2’s, which were more than enough food, plus gyro’s and souvlaki’s. Everything was super tasty, and everyone was super happy!!! The owner Yoni was so friendly too, and even gave us a couple of extras for free!!!

Nana's Pita is now one of my favourite restaurants. The food taste just like food you can get in Greece and the service is great. Definitely reccomend.

Very impressed. First visit since new owners took over. Menu took a bit of getting used to. Had the chicken gyros which was really good. Pitta bread was probably one of the best I've ever had! Will visit again.

£6 for TWO pieces of COLD Halloumi is completely unacceptable. Seriously disappointed.

Delicious! We had Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki and Halloumi with Tzatziki! It was absolutely gorgeous. The ambience is spot on and the service fantastic.

My brother in law was visiting us in Basildon, with he and my wife being Greek we decided to grab some Greek food. The gyros that they ate was in their words exceptional. This place does it’s meat dishes incredibly well and we will definitely be heading back for a fix.

Best pita gyros in Essex. Finally an original Greek taste near me. Very clean restaurant cosy and well decorated. Give it a try if you are around and you won't be disappointed

Review is for ordering through Just Eat for delivery which takes the overall price of each item up by about £3 making it simply not worth the money. The portions were small for £10 each, but probably would have been reasonable for £6-7 as per the actual menu. Would not order as a delivery again, expecting much better value for money as compared with other similar places nearby

Lovely food and nice people, we went to "Nana's" this evening, the staff were great, they were clearly busy and there were a lot of collection orders but once you have tried the food you understand why it has become so popular so quickly. We have been to Greece a number of times and this food was authentic and just as good - the owner told me how he was from Crete and has a lot of the ingredients imported - and you can tell.

We went in for lunch and the service and food was spot on. We had a sharing platter which was plenty and tasty. It was great, they may need a bigger place with all the people that will love their food.

Been waiting for a place like this. After visiting Greece recently, this took me straight back there. Love the food and is already one of my favourites places to eat in Leigh.

My son has been raving about this place for weeks, and I finally got round to trying one of nanas special gyros, and am I glad I did. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. We thorough enjoyed it, and I can safely say that I will now become a regular. Would highly recommend this place you will not be disappointed.
