Imperial chinese restaurant and take away in Southend-on-Sea

Amazing food and i love my dish so much and the kind lady allow me to take my bike inside for safety.

Ordered from The Imperial for the first time tonight. I’m in Southchurch but this was delivered from Westcliff. Don’t think I’ll now bother ordering again from any of the 4 Chinese restaurants local to me in the Southchurch Road. This was authentic, tasty, fresh, well-cooked food nearest to my recollection of the Wong Kei in Chinatown. The service was friendly and excellent too, with a lovely smiley lady delivering. I’m not going to order Chinese food now from anywhere else.

Without doubt our favourite Chinese in the area. We’ve never had a bad meal from Imperial. Tried all the competitors, but they can’t be beaten!

This is my regular, and I eat far too much Chinese. Good quality meat. The dishes are presented correctly. Crispy beef, HK sweet and sour, crispy duck, all the classics and trimmings are all very good. The lady is nice on the phone, and importantly my food has always been delivered on time, hot and fresh. Please put the fish floss stuff on top of the seaweed!

Best Chinese in the southend area very friendly on the phone delivered by a friendly driver and the food was super hot and delicious tonight's meal was again superb thank you to the chefs and the team at imperial Chinese.

Our first time using this restaurant and certainly not the last. Food was outstanding and delivery was on time.

A cut above others in the area. The house special rice was flavoursome, the meat was tender and the veg not overcooked. The sweet and sour pork was also tasty and cooked perfectly. Portion sizes were large so we have enough left for another day. This was my first time and I will definitely be going back.

I have had been ordered from here since 6 years ago the food is amazing always I wished they do tofu dishes as I loved them sadly not 😭 please made menu tofu dishes and I have try all Chinese dishes this one is the best one in Southend areas every weekend I ordered foods guy’s place tofu dishes part from that everything on the menu is amazing ❤️

Just ordered from there tonight and wow how disappointed are we and that's an understatement! Food was luke warm, chicken was not like real chicken house special rice was slodgy and tasted of pure ginger, pancake roll didn't have much filling and tasted bland not to mention prices gone up. Tried calling numerous times but no answer or a busy tone, will not be ordering again which is a shame as used to be our favourite

Tried this place and was massively disappointed. Seemed that little bit more expensive, the food was so bland and dry. Never had Chinese food with so little taste.

Ridiculous service, a friend was visiting mine and they refused his payment because his card wasn't registered at my address. Rude on the phone, made up lies to try to cover the shops idiotic policy. Don't touch them with a barge pole

Good food,fair portions for the price . 1st time I've been here so played it safe with chicken curry which was ok and will probably try some other dishes next time.

Crispy chilli beef was lush. Food arrived promptly and was lovely and warm and just recently cooked. Friendly staff and ordering on the phone was so easy. Got our order exactly right, including moderations to the Singapore noodles 👌🏼👌🏼

This has been my go to for the 7 years I've lived in Southend. Even since moving to Shoebury a year ago, I come into town specially to get a Chinese from time to time. Last night, I was babysitting for a friend and when I phoned to order, I could not pay with my card as it wasn't registered to the delivery address. This forced me to use Just Eat which cost me £23 for food for one with inflated prices, delivery charge and service charge. I still thought it's great food so it'll be worth a one off splurge. Instead it was greasy to the point I was put off eating it. I'm beyond disappointed and won't be hurrying back.

I've been using this restaurant since the 90s and it is the best Chinese by far, never been disappointed. Everyone I've introduced to it also agrees.

Every time we have a take away from here we are left impressed. You must try the Crispy Chilli Beef. We have moved outside the delivery radius, tried many others. Now we just prefer to drive and collect. Excellent food.

As we’ve been in lockdown , funds are tight . We treated ourselves tonight and my god were we not disappointed! By far the best takeaway Chinese around the area by a long way . Thankyou and keep up the great standards 👌🏻

Kept us waiting for over 2 hours and then canceled our order. Hungry kids and really annoying.

Ordered at 5.15pm and the order never arrived. Really poor. Please don't rely on them to turn up. Not sure what's happening there side but service and communication is very poor. Real shame.

Order cancelled after being accepted approximately 2hrs ago. Real shame as food is lovely. Not the first time this has happened. Unfortunately, will have to order elsewhere in the future.

First time ordering here. House special rice was delicious and fresh, not old rice. Not covered in soy sauce. Loved the freshness and cruchiness of the veg. Pancake rolls lovely and not soaked in grease. Will definitely be returning.

Easily the best chinese takeaway around. Fast, friendly service combined with amazing food cooked to perfection. What more could you ask for? Dont bother ordering elsewhere, this is the only chinese takeaway service you'll ever need. The others simply do not compare.

Had our first meal from here as our normal Chinese was closed and got to say it was very very good and would definitely recommend.

It's the first time we have used this place. The food was top quality and piping hot. The portions were very generous and we all thought that it was the best Chinese food delivery we had ever had. Delivery was 10 minutes earlier than specified which was a bonus. Used Just Eat for this, the driver was very professional and put the food on the doorstep and stood well back when I opened the door. Overall I will absolutely be ordering from this place again and highly recommend it.

Egg fried rice was extremly bland, not a pinch of salt at all. prawns with black beans was very nice but for the Price of £16 is was completely not worth it at all, disappointed. Considering how many good reviews this place has.

I have used this takeaway for many years, the staff are as lovely as the food. Altho I tend to order the same food all the time, every dish I have tried, especially the pancake rolls, do not disappoint.

I am sure most of the reviews on Just Eat and trip adviser are 100% fake. The food from this place is very very bad and I would say it is bordering on uneatable.

It is run by the same family from when I first ordered food in 1990 to present day. The curry is gorgeous - not that imitated brown stuff!, nothing is greasy. always fresh! We order regularly from here and every time it is superb. We won’t go anywhere else and have been going here for 18 years now. We’ve tried others but they just don’t meet up to the same standard as Imperial. Cannot recommend this chinese enough, it really is the best!

By far the best Chinese in the area, they use really good ingredients, no MSG and their hygiene rating is superb. Always so friendly on the telephone - I drive from Southchurch to Westcliff for this.

After leaving the southend area 2 years ago, we have tried numerous times to find a chinese that compares. We have now had to give up! Thankfully tonight we were in the area and ordered Imperial again. The best chinese in Essex, without a doubt. Absolutely superb, fresh, grease free and tasty. Hopefully not another 2 years to wait!

I ordered a takeaway this evening as I wanted some high quality Chinese food. After googling I decided on imperial. I was very impressed, the quality was very high and was very tasty. I could tell the difference in quality from the usual places I eat from. Everything was very good, well worth the little extra cost.

I would have liked to give this restaurant 4 starts but had to take one away for the fact that just eat said delivery time would be around half hour and then when we ordered we had a delivery time of over an hour which was a bit of a joke. However the food was good so next time will order call the restaurant direct to fi d out times

We change our chiness takeaways every few months. But not these. There food is 5 star. Even when have left overs. Re heat in wok. And its like you just got it from them 5 stars is a rateing thats worth it in my book

The imperial Chinese takeaway is amazing! I had egg fried rice and garlic butter chicken which was lovely, and my other half had egg foo young and we both ordered vegetable spring rolls, and spare ribs in bbq sauce for extras...if you want a delicious Chinese order from here

The crispy duck is truly amazing. As it the crisp beef. And the vegetable spring rolls. All the dishes are! Portions maybe a tad on the small side, but all is forgiven when you taste the food.

Due to a change of plans, and running late, we ordered a takeaway (delivery) from here late Saturday night, never having used the restaurant before. Good choice it was too.

Have lived in Southend and westcliff for about 18yrs now and have tried every chinese in these areas and the Imperial is a stand out chinese , cooked beautifully never under or over cooked , lovely portions always and always hot as you would expect, if you haven't tried it yet you honestly should. Lovely

Great food!! We got a delivery using the online ordering service. The order arrived exactly when they said it would. Food was very hot (temperature) and extremely tasty, not greasy at all. Seemed to all be fresh ingredients. I would definitely order again from this place and would recommend to all.
