Namaste Himalaya Restaurant in East Devon

Always an amazing time with Sanjeev and co at Namaste Himalaya. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu, but the Nepali specialities are to die for. I have been coming here for almost 2 years now and have always left with a big smile and heavy tummy.

This is a really nice and super busy restaurant. We enjoyed some starters, and ordered two curries with some sides for our main. We had a veggie curry and a black dhal. Both were tasty, but unfortunately both dishes were much too spicy for us and we couldn’t eat a lot of it. We have been to Himalayan restaurants before and really enjoyed the food, and didn’t find it spicy. It was just a bit much for us which was a real shame. While there were plenty of gluten free options (e.g all the curries), there were no details on allergies on menu, so it meant I had to ask about what dishes I could have, which felt a bit awkward. It would be better if it was clear on the menu what was GF.

This was an excellent restaurant, food was delicious and service excellent. Never had Nepalese food before but was well informed as to the difference between Indian food and Nepalese food . We went for Nepalese food and was definitely not disappointed. Thank you for such a great experience

Food was very tasty but unfortunately arrived quite cold so had to all be reheated with exception of the naan bread. Very unusual from Namaste as our orders are normally perfect.

Always good food and service, the menu has been reduced a little but there is still too much choice. . .. but it doesn't really matter what you choose it's all good. . . Mo-Mos (like steamed dumplings) are must.

The excellent reviews for Namaste here are not wrong! We booked at the last minute yesterday and were not disappointed. We received a super welcome from the host, we had to wait a few minutes for our table but it was a busy Saturday and not a problem. We loved the Nepalese decor and chose mainly Nepalese dishes (although there are plenty of traditional Indian dishes on the menu too). The chutneys with the poppadoms are slightly different to standard Indian chutneys and totally delicious. We chose Nepalese lager beer and starters: lamb momos and chicken choila (I was warned this chicken dish was very hot but it was delicious and worth the temporary pain!). Our mains were delicious too. The service was second to none throughout the evening and the portions are very generous representing excellent value for money.This is a little gem of a restaurant, Exmouth is very lucky!

The restaurant is clean and well decorated. Excellent food and the service was quick efficient and the staff were extremely polite and friendly nothing was a problem. Highly recommended. We came down from Bristol and we were not disappointed. 🥰

Our family favourite for an evening eating out. They happily and skilfully adapt the recipes to suit. For us, this means adding chili, but not to crucify, but to add flavour. The manager endeavours to make the evening perfect with little anecdotes and tastes of home.

Really good food and they make it spicy according to your palette. Kheema rice is well flavored and wholesome to eat.

Lovely evening out with family for food... made to feel very welcome, you don't get rushed and food is decently priced plus tastes are out of this world!!

Well in Exmouth?? The Namaste has excellent food, very well presented in a friendly restaurant. Every dish ordered tasted wonderful and other diners seemed to be of the same mind!!

The music was rather loud, otherwise splendid!

There is a part of us that wanted to keep this super Nepalese restaurant a secret. We love the food. Then a stroll along the beach, 👌

The food was very good and so was the service but I was presented with the bill even though I hadn’t asked for it, and I hadn’t been asked if I’d like dessert or coffee. I felt I was being told to go. Strange. 12.5% service charge added to bill.

Brilliant service and wonderful staff, which is followed up by delicious food bursting with flavour. Highly recommend and great with friends as there is more opportunity to try a whole host of the different curries available.

Delicious food! Order arrived way before estimated.

Visited on a Friday night with friends - our first time here - and we really liked it. We had poppadums and chutney to start (gotta be done!), and these were great - not greasy and with a slightly different set of chutneys from the usual Indian restaurant. On to starters, and the Momos (steamed dumplings), both chicken and lamb, were really tasty, as was the spicy sauce that accompanied them. The fish tikka was really nice too. For mains we had a Nepalese chicken curry, butter chicken and lamb rogan josh, with sides of tadka dal, aloo gobi, aubergine bhaji and dal makhni (this last was really a main in its own right, but we each had some). All the dishes were really good, with nice portion sizes; ie just right. My Nepalese chicken was ordered with extra heat to take it from medium to Madras level, and the kitchen dutifully did this (and it was delicious). For drinks between the four of us over the evening, we had four large beers (the Gurkha beer in 660 ml bottles is particularly good with curries), a bottle of Chardonnay and a pint of diet coke. Service charge was included on the bill, which we were happy to pay as the service was friendly and efficient throughout. For all this the bill came to £187, which we thought given the extra costs restaurants are facing nowadays was brilliant. The atmosphere was good too, with modern decor and nice jazz playing in the background. The menu was wide ranging, with Nepalese, Indian and Chinese dishes all represented, so if you like Asian and/or spicy foods you'll definitely find something to your taste. We loved Namaste and will definitely be back!

Its been a while since we ate here (our fault as they have been busy - I booked online this time) and really glad we did. Quality of the food was outstanding, a real mix of flavours and spices, service was great in fact every bit as good as it always was. Highly recommended !

Booked an early table before going on to a concert. Food was very tasty and portion size was ample. The wine list was extensive, and read-only priced, can recommend the Azania Pinotage to go with the North Indian curries

Arriving early in the evening we were warmly welcomed. We were determined to try the Nepali dishes on the menu and our host guided us in this. The result was a selection of dishes that were full of intriguing flavours. Very enjoyable - highly recommended!

Another amazing take away. If you want to taste something different eat here, although they do offer the usual generic dishes. They are definitely our go to take away and restaurant.

Food was nice and delivered in a reasonable time but,.....several times now we have ordered and several times we have had wrong food delivered. We ordered onion bhaji and chips were delivered, which are nearly £4 cheaper and nobody wanted or eat so a waste of £6. I have raised this point before with the restaurant direct with a promise of 'we will give you free curry next time etc' but this never happens and namaste continues to disappoint. Unfortunately I can't continue to pay for food we don't receive so will not be ordering or visiting namaste again.

Amazing food and service. The food is prepared using fresh ingredients and is beautifully served. A variety of flavours and spices with your choices. My only regret is I didn't take photos to post. The restaurant decor is pleasant and stands for what it is Nepalese. Very comfortable, relaxing environment. Very attentive waiters. First time for me having Nepalese food and I loved it. My husband is very much into his curries and this restaurant is now one of our favorites. Daal and lamb dishes were delicious. One of our favorite restaurants and places to eat in. Came here and had a fantastic meal. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and the food was superb. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were of a good size. Would definitely recommend!

Disappointing meal. Ordered as a special treat. 1 curry 1 plain rice 1 and 2 starters well over £30. Food was not very hot (temperature). Very ordinary rogan josh over £10 and 3 small tandoori prawns £8.95 particularly disappointing as no real tandoori flavour. All in all not worth the money.

i've been to a lot of Indian restaurants, and this does very nice food. definitely worth going.

As much as the place is known for its food, the service is not on par with what is expected. When we go to a restaurant to eat food, we also expect a bit of warmth and happy reception. It's not that we don't take no for an answer but it's the way it has to communicated to a customer. "We can't find a table for you, but if you want the food you can do a take away" response and tone gave me a "we are just interested in your money and don't care about the service" vibe. I was reluctant to put up this review but then again, the earlier reviews and the thought of not letting someone else feel the same made me do it. I'm sure the restaurant have their own reasons and side of things, but I had to convey my version of the experience.

Great meal. Probably the best curry I've had in Exmouth. So tasty, reasonable prices and not so much food that you can't eat. Really nicely presented and staff were lovely.

Delicious food. Only criticism I have is the amount of cloves and cardamom pods I accidentally bit into. I know they are needed for the flavour, but an unsuspecting whole pod whilst your eating has the opposite effect.

Online said it was full but I phoned and got a table. We sat downstairs. Friendly staff, food was really fresh tasting and large portions. For a couple- drinks, poppadom and dip starter and two curries came to just over £50 which felt really reasonable. Nice little spot.
