Nag's Head in East Hertfordshire

There is a warm welcome here and a menu to suit all the family. The Sunday roast was excellent value for money. We are planning our next visit

A very tasty meal of Fish and chips at the Nags head. Crispy batter and crunchy chips. Good choices on the menu including Sunday lunch specials. Plenty of parking in their own car park. Another fabulous meal at the nags head, prices are still very good. Recently visited again and had a vegetable curry for under a tenner.

Very poor service and average food.Children had to wait for more than 45 minutes to get their burgers delivered.We were there at a very quiet less time around 4pm. Completely ignored our table. Plenty more to write..Will not go to that place ever...

Had breakfast here. Food was ok ( not a criticism, but the food was ok ). Clean and tidy area. Very nice architecture, very 1930's.

It was like walking into the past .I have never been into a pub like this.the decor was amazing,the food was brilliant and I asked for a big cup for my tea which I received.The staff were very friendly and the governor just blended in.we were there for a funeral reception.

Great service, disappointed some menu items were not available. It got very busy for a midweek lunchtime, albeit during Xmas school holidays. Unfortunately most of the food was only lukewarm when served. No-one checked we were ok after the food was served. Menu is interesting, but we probably won't go back.

Nice place for a drink and food, only downside we asked for a bowl of chips for me and my brother to share and was a tiny little 'bucket' with a about 20 chips in, nice chips but very small portion, and not a drop of salt n vinegar in sight

Family halfway meeting point for ten and a baby in a high chair. The best level of service I have experienced in a UK pub restaurant for a very long time with excellent food. Thank you.

Popped in for coffee, however couldn't escape the awful music, it wasn't busy, in fact we were the only people at one time, asked for music to be turned off, couldn't do that, couldn't turn it down either, area manager's rules. Not very customer focused!

Always a great place to go for a good mid range dinner, the Sunday roasts are amazing, generous portions, great kids menu, staff are attentive and very friendly

We had lunch booked for 3.00. I can understand running out of some of the roast meats.. but to run out of roast potatoes shows a lack of planning. All meals were served mashed potato. However when it came, it was a lump of tasteless stodge lacking seasoning and butter or milk to give it taste and texture. The waitress didn't look surprised to see mine , minus one mouthful, didn't left on the plate. Our mixed chicken shared starters were deep fried and tasty. The waffle a sugary sweet confection. Fabulous service in a lovely setting, let down by the food

The food was good and the service was spot on.

We were going away to Potters, Maldon, Colchester for a few days. We had an exceptional lovely bowl of soup, which we commented on. Nor sure what was in the soup. Thank you ....

Lovely lovely place. Good food, kind and efficient staff, welcoming atmosphere, reasonable prices. We dropped by en route Suffolk to Kent, avoiding service stations. One burger, steak and ale pie, and kids fish fingers later we were nicely satisfied with quality and quantity. Onto the puddings...delicious! Our waitress was lovely and very welcoming, engaging with our 3 year and 2 month old alike. The whole thing made us feel a lot more relaxed on our journey and service was prompt.

We Pre-booked our visit to the Nags Head for seven of us. There's plenty of free parking available on arrival. We were seated immediately with no fuss, our table was prepared and ready for us all. Drinks orders were taken promptly and a little time was given to us all to decide our starters and main courses. 2 of our party were Vegan and there is a good choice of options even on the standard menu. Starters, Mains and desserts all had good vegan (and vegetarian) options. Starters were delivered and enjoyed, then shortly afterwards once the table was cleared we were asked if we were ready for our mains which were all brought out together. Clean plates all round is testament to the quality of the meals we all enjoyed, and the staff are delightfully friendly and polite. All of us enjoyed our visit and the food in a friendly atmosphere.

Had the scampi, very disappointing , didn't come with peas, and for some reason it was with French fries and not chips. All very soggy, and just dumped into a big pile on the plate. Nice friendly staff. Worth a visit, but don't recommend the scampi.

I haven't eaten anything but a dessert here, so can't comment on food too much. But other people have said food is amazing. Especially the chicken. But service is great and the atmosphere is good too. I went to the quiz night there, every last Wednesday of the month. Good fun, and all for charity.

We were staying at the Ramada at stanstead services and as it’s just a 20min walk to the Nags head thought we’d try it, lovely friendly staff and good food, we had starters which were good size portions and then the Ribs and a chicken burger, all came piping hot and very tasty. We will definitely return.

I mean...... As far as pubs that cater to children go, this one goes in pretty hard with both a mini playground AND a bouncy castle over the August bank holiday. One of the most relaxing pints I've had all year. 🤣

After having organised and attended a lunchtime buffet at the Nag's head I would recommend it for the excellent service, delightful food, friendly staff and customer care from the point of booking to the takeaway boxes provided at the end of the event. Plenty of parking and a private area for small gatherings.

Came in for a quick bite to eat during our first visit in bishops Stortford. What a pleasant, euphoric and enjoyable experience! We ordered the classic cheeseburger with a side of fries. The food was absolutely outstanding, the staff were warm and welcoming and made the over all experience one that I will definitely be looking to repeat. A special thank you to Neil who made our meal here one to remember. Want a burger that is value for money with a side of friendly staff? Come down to the Nags Head for a meal you won’t want to miss out on!

We missed a turning on the M1 and accidentally found ourselves having a full English breakfast in the Nags Head Pub. It's an absolute treat. A feast for the eyes. Beautiful art deco pub, built as a pub not a lido, which it is very reminiscent of. This should be a destination pub, add in a walk round Hatfield Forest. An absolute treat.

We came from London to visit my family and we pop in the pub and had a lovely roast for 4 people and a childs meal it was great, the staff was great and friendly and will definitely go there again when we visit again

The nag's head staff are super friendly.. Attentive.. Food always superb, we call this our local and have been many times.. The new memeber of staff manager Neil is a credit to the team, he's a Natural people's person and they are lucky to have him, and along with others he'll always check we are ok. Mediocre food Weird service staff

Ate on a Saturday evening while staying locally at the Days Inn before a flight from Stansted the next day. Glad we booked in advance as they were quite busy. Service was friendly and the food was good - probably the best side salad I've had with a pub meal.

Went for easter roast dinner, very poor quality of beef, fatty and chewy, Hard potatoes, generally poor quality meal. Have been coming here for years and very disapointed!! Complained and meals were replaced with something else that was also overcooked!! Quality has gone down in this place , Avoid!!

Up there with the best pub burgers I've eaten and the best Belgian waffle since a takeaway on the side streets of Brugge. 👌

Had a wake there recently, staff were really friendly and attentive, especially Neil, who looked after us very well. Good selection of beer and nice buffet.

Had lunch with friends. the portion sizes were huge. The steak i had was like leather, i couldnt even chew it, when i mentioned this to the waitress she replied 'we dont know how tough its going to be until its cooked' ! Really... the care to detail wasnt there on this occasion, the service was very sloppy. I have been coming here for 20 years plus and this had to be the worst experience we had of a lunch... Our coffees were taken off the bill at the end free of charge, but shouldnt they have thought to have taken 'my meal 'off the price instead... Unfortunately we wont be going back.

Went here for Sunday lunch. We all had the beef roast dinner and it was very all very nice, great service, good portion sizes, reasonable cost and very tasty. Make sure you book as this is a popular place to eat and was full on a Sunday in January!

Chose this pub because it is listed in the CAMRA guide and also the historic pubs list. The exterior is really nice with a good beer garden. An extensive menu with some fairly standard food options. Gluten-free options available.

Had breakfast at the Nags Head this morning. Fantastic breakfast, everything cooked as requested and they were more than happy to “swap” certain items. Big shout out to our server Gina, nothing was too much trouble and with a warm welcome and friendly smile. Will definitely be going back.

Really good food. Even better staff! Chicken & ham pie with mash, gammon & jacket, sirloin steak & chips, hunters chicken. All basics as far as pub grub goes but oh so well done!!

A good pub with average food. Say no more.

We went for a works Christmas meal, it was dreadful. Pate for starters was still partly frozen, it was a bizarre almost black colour, it tasted awful. The Main dinner… veg certainly not fresh, in fact I doubt any of it was prepared in the kitchen, just brought in and warmed through. Same story for the dessert. We was s group of 25 and not 1 person said it was normal nice. Service was good. Never again !
