Nags Head Inn in Caerphilly

Had Sunday lunch there yesterday, outstanding. Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast and boiled potatoes plus 6 veg, parsnips, green beans, sprouts,peas, carrots and broccoli. The Beef was so tender you didn’t need to cut it, and the gravy was obviously home made. All for £8.99. You could add a starter / dessert for £2 each. Well done the Nags .

Can't wait for this establishment to open food is delicious and plentiful and reasonable and piping hot

We only had two courses. If I tell you that my pate came served with two quarter slices of COLD FRIED BREAD, you will understand why I shall write no more, except to say the tables were beyond sticky. Worst Sunday lunch, ever.

We enjoyed two dinners at this popular inn during our stay. Solid hearty food, excellent service. The local Mantle beer is phenomenal and a great addition to the meal. Some of the food quality was a little uneven but certainly a place to be recommended.

We had our 3rd annual Christmas meal in nags last night all I can say is beautiful I had homemade soup to start it was lovely then I had Turkey beef cooked dinner with all the trimmings meat was very tender loads of veg and stunning home made gravy followed by sherry trifle all for 23 pound would highly recommend

23 of us went to nags head to celebrate my grandson birthday the food was delicious piping hot and all served together I had mixed grill which was huge pork chop lamb chop gammon steak sausages chicken breast and I had creamy garlic mushrooms and cauliflower cheese as side I couldn't finish it and shared my sides with others all this come to under 25 pound cant remember exactly think it was 23 pound fabulous night lovely staff and fabulous food

Basic room for decent price of £45 for 2 adults. Wasn't told it was two single beds when booked a room for two, there was 3 various preused shower gel bottles available, there wasn't any fresh toiletries, and bin was half filled with rubbish upon arrival too.... but customer service was friendly n very helpful, and staff upon arrival were welcoming too. Beds were clean and comfy (woth quilts, not sheets) plus we was supplied with 4 clean soft towels and ample overnight storage which included quality wooden hangers. No smoking in room, but cute outside smoking area easily accessible (although the light sensor could do with a wipe so it can recognise movement before people need to use steps to get to seating). Need to be able to climb stairs to get to either of the two rooms, which wasn't told about first (though they wasn't informed I had physical disability or I'm sure they would of told me before taking booking) Didn't need to pay until morning after stay and it was a shame we didn't have time to have breakfast for only a fiver extra per person. Bar downstairs appeared to be clean and welcoming, although we was not there during opening hours to experience it for ourselves. Overall, a good n clean n safe value for money overnight stay, and will probably use again soon if allowed to put single beds together or be given an actual double bed

A very cosy feel, a traditional pub, very welcoming and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. The Sunday Lunch was so good and the beef very tender and good selection of vegetables. We have been to many places for a sunday Lunch and we count this as one of our favourites. Highly recommend

The atmosphere was very friendly, and welcoming as soon as you walk in. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts, and staff, good selection at the bar, and very reasonable Good menu in the restaurant, and food delicious. Choice of breakfast and also time, which was a bonus if you don't want to be up at the crack of dawn. Cardiff half hour away if you fancy town, although Tredegar has some very nice locals. I have to say the Sunday lunch was lovely meat very tender the beef melted in your mouth pleanty of veg cooked to perfection and real homemade gravy all I can say is if anyone moans about this dinner they don't know what real cooked Sunday dinner is highly recommended

I’ll keep this brief. The pub itself is okay; clean and relatively welcoming. It’s a typical Valleys establishment (a local pub for local people!), and if you’re from the area, you’ll probably recognise a few familiar faces. However, the food was more off-key than doing a round of karaoke with Charlotte Church after a pitcher of Snakebites and Sambuca. The Starter: Garlic Mushrooms. A wet, goopy mess of a dish that featured freshly de-tinned mushrooms accompanied by a toasted slice of some sort of bread. No taste. No texture. No flavour. No thanks. The Main: Roast Beef. Tough, chewy and very hard to find on the plate. Barely visible in-fact. Ever fancied chewing a minuscule piece of leather? If so, order this; you won’t be disappointed. Are you a lover of home-cooked Yorkshire puddings? Me too. Aunt Bessie’s version of the classic Sunday-roast accompaniment just doesn’t cut it I’m afraid. Loads of bland, lifeless veg. Quantity doesn’t equal quality my friends! Spuds that were crying out for a dollop of butter and some seasoning, carrots as cold as they were hard and peas suitable for gun ammunition were the highlights of side-servings. The less said about the broccoli, the better. That gravy was nice mind you! Financially speaking, things were pretty cheap and cheerful. However, this was reflected in the overall quality of food. You get what you pay for I guess. There are plenty of other places in the Valleys that offer food your own mother would be proud to serve. I suggest you give this place a miss and look elsewhere.

Great pint of lots of draught beers and lagers, really friendly locals, great Sunday lunch. Also good home cooked basic food, nothing fancy, just good. Recommended.

Had a lunch here had the cooked brunch thought i couldn't go wrong sausage was disgusting plate was swimming in grease and some of my frozen chips were uncooked! My partner had cauliflower bake with was frozen cauliflower with a packet cheese sauce - the cauliflower was not even drained... this is basic food how can you get even that so so wrong ! Would never return .

old partner loves the nags nice place to go for a pint with the boys after work they got crisps and nuts and pork scratchings and do a real good pint pop up there some time to have a pint with partner i will put 1 over for you butt, sharky is a good boy

We enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere of this Inn. It was recommended by locals and we were not disappointed. Good menu choice. Bookings are advisable.

Gran gente genuina y personal, a la gente de la tierra, un ambiente muy acogedor y un placer visitar, las habitaciones de huéspedes son de alta calidad en apariencia, y calidad junto con la real casa auténtica comida casera. Espero que los nuevos propietarios ofrecen el mismo nivel de servicio honesto, abierto y hospitalario, que permite a los huéspedes sentirse como en casa en una ubicación impresionante. Yo no pienso regresar muy pronto! .

Had a lovely Sunday lunch everything perfectly cooked and piping hot.Only thing that spoilt day was the loud bad language from the bar would not like to take my children there don't want to hear that when your out for lunch

This is an old and lovely little pub; very attentive and friendly staff, beer well kept, and good, simple food. Staff and locals alike are genuinely warm and welcoming.

A few of us went for a birthday pies home cooked and lasagne absolutely lovely food tasty and plentiful with very happy friendly staff complements to the chief food come out all together hot presented well and very tasty

Lo bueno: el B&B; está situado muy cerca de Brecon Beacons y pueden servir como una buena base para explorar el parque. El desayuno era bueno y abundante, probablemente el mejor que hemos tenido durante nuestro pequeño viaje por carretera (avena y desayuno inglés completo). También, el personal era muy complaciente para desayuno, especialmente porque no había fijado la hora límite para comer, lo que es bueno si quieres dormir hasta tarde.

La coliflor era hermoso. Tengo que recomendar este tesoro escondido de pub para comer el domingo. Obviamente, no siendo de la zona. Yo aconsejaría a la gente pasando a llamar en Tredegar.

A terrible experience I had the chicken pie but it should have been called the chicken skin pie absolutely terrible full of chicken skin with very little chicken

4 of us stayed this weekend whilst on a two trip to Bike Park Wales, we had a very warm welcome & even got to meet Max Boyce.....great place, great breakfast, great music We will definitely be going back....

Pasamos una noche fantástica, tandoori de pollo con un lado sirve de 3 salsas y una bebida por 10 libras, realmente de primera calidad y se veía que estaba recién hecho, muy bueno. Los postres eran tamaño americano y no pude terminar!

Primera visita ya que los nuevos propietarios tomaron el relevo y me sorprendió gratamente. Una variedad de aperitivos, y el plato principal era una opción de pollo o de carne, yo y mis dos amigos tenían la carne y no nos decepcionó. La comida venía con Yorkshire pud, asado patacas chirivías,asado ollas, camote puré, col roja, guisantes, zanahorias y Kale todos deliciosamente cocinados y abundante.

Comí en el restaurante Nags Head el sábado por la noche. Nos invitaron a unirse a algunos amigos que conocen el propietario, de lo contrario, probablemente no habría ocurrido a mí para visitar. Yo rara vez han sido tan sorprendido. Fue una experiencia excelente y me gustó el entorno, la amabilidad del personal que trabaja allí y la eficiencia del servicio. Yo sin duda me sentí que me fue valorada como cliente. Lo mejor de todo, la comida era una maravilla y se levanta muy favorable contra cualquier restaurante que he visitado en los últimos dos años.

Stayed for 2 nights in December for work, really friendly family run place with sociable locals. Food absolutely top drawer and room very clean, tidy and comfortable.

Un buen ambiente y el personal encantador. habíamos reservado un poco podría mejorar este establecimiento inmensamente. únicos ingredientes frescos de un cocinero de chef, por consiguiente había una pequeña selección para nosotros dos vegetarianos en nuestro grupo. Tratar de mantener un vegetales o frutos secos asado en existencias para ir con el super verduras en oferta y que se han satisfecho todos nosotros hoy.

Mi pareja y yo pasamos el almuerzo de domingo hoy en día y a ambos nos quedamos muy impresionados. Elegí el cordero y la carne y ambos eran perfectamente preparado. Me agradable pero diferente selección de verduras, que era muy agradable. Una buena pinta de Budweiser en el bar por sólo 2,60 .

Fuimos para una comida con amigos y tengo que decir que la comida era excelente. El chef prepara la comida fresca así que sí hay un menú limitado, pero lo que hay es magnífico. Esta es una nueva aventura así que si te dan una oportunidad llamar para intentarlo merece la pena.

Nos alojamos aquí como B&B;, los huéspedes en 2015 oct. Abundante y delicioso desayuno y una multa de domingo almuerzo tradicional en un entorno relajado y agradable pub. Entiendo que de los nuevos propietarios que una oferta de comida en los días laborales es inminente ... debe ser genial si nuestra experiencia de referencia.

Tuvimos una comida aquí mientras pasa por la Brecon muy tarde una noche de camino a Aberdere. Fue más allá un tio, y todos los demás sitios estaban cerrados. Llegamos en coche en la carretera después de la calle, y tropezamos con el Nags Head Inn en Gwent, y afortunadamente nos sirvieron una comida.
