Nags head in East Riding of Yorkshire

I was travelling to meet family and thought we would try the nags head, It is a very central location for us. The food is always good now as the head chef is fantastic at their job. We were seated by an equally great member of staff in Jenny, our drinks were served to us by the amazing G. Nice clean pub, great food and fantastic staff. You would be foolish to miss out on such an experience. 10/10 every time.

Was disappointed with food, the chips were greasy, the chicken looked enimic and looked pre bought in, my beer battered onion rings came out squashed and over cooked and greasy. When the waitress came over and asked if everything was OK and I said no and told her what I'd left and why and the only reply I got was sorry about that! I said I can't belive the chef would let a £15.99 meal go out looking like it did. Never will we go again poorly executed food.

We always use nags head, it has become our regular place for food. The staff are always polite and the food is always really good. I have had most things off the menu now and they all seem to be as good as the last. Nice clean and tidy pub with a vibrant atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

The Nags Head is local for us so it’s really great to know that we can go somewhere nearby and get a good meal at a great price. We both had the steak which came cooked as we asked and was very tasty. I had the ‘lighter option’ salad which, surprisingly, was also very tasty. We were very happy with our meal, the service and surroundings. We will definitely be back!!

We stopped for a drink. But was bluntly told by the floor manager there were no tables then walked off. We naively thought she had gone to see if there were any free tables but when she returned muttered to her colleague ‘I’ve already told them there are no tables’ how rude, and a clear example for a training need. I have visited many times over the years and spent hundreds of pounds there, but will not spend another penny. She seriously needs to cheer up in a customer facing role like this, the funny side of it, the place was mostly empty! Very bad.

We ordered 4 meals, one being the Chicken kebab and fries. We had a 35min wait even though the place had very few customers. I cut into one piece of chicken and took a bite - it felt wrong - seemed uncooked. I cut into a second piece to find that was pink - not something I associate with cooked chicken! When the waiter came to ask if our meals were ok I explained mine was not and felt the chicken wasn’t cooked properly. It was taken away. My wife was very shocked as normally I do not complain. The manager returned a few minutes later to say the chef explained that meals came to them pre-cooked so should have been okay! I wasn’t happy with this explanation as it seemed I was at fault. She explained I could have something else ( taking 10 to 15 mins to prepare) or have a refund - I opted for the safer refund. I sat with my family, totally dejected, watching them have their meals. I see no reason to return to this establishment.

We popped into the Nags head last night for a family meal as it was my sisters birthday. We didn't book as it was a last minute decision but they managed to fit us in even though the pub was busy. We were a big table but the food all came out together, nice and hot and perfectly cooked steak for me. They even brought out the cake with candles on it. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do more. Thank you

It is nice we had 4 main .eals and a bunch of starters which were in a reasonable time and very warm when arrived. Decent food which we all enjoyed and the service was friendly and nice.

We hadn't been to the Nags head for about 8 months. The last manager was awful, never spoke to you and was very rarely seen. The new couple are amazing, the new landlord came and spoke to us and asked us about our day and where we came from. We explained that we actually lived next door on high farm but hadn't visited for a while due to previous management. The food was amazing last night and the menu is much bigger with more choice (the chicken kebab is very good). The staff are all friendly and helpful from start to finish. So happy we have our pub back, it reminds me of when chris and Jan had it.

Lovely pub for either dining as a family or popping in for a quiet drink. We ate as a family of 5. All the meals were perfect, as were the very generous sized desserts. There's a couple of different dining or drinking areas meaning you can be tucked away in a quiet space, we aslo noticed a few people around the back enjoying drinks and a game of pool. Over all a lovely atmosphere and great experience. We will definitely be back!

Came in on Friday evening. A very pleasant atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and very knowledgeable. The food was amazing and served very swiftly. Could do with more choice on menu.

My Wife was really disappointed last night and I was fuming. Bought tickets 6 months ago for ballet at New Theatre in Hull as she absolutely loves ballet. Got there half an hour early as it was tight to park previously, only to discover that the car park that must have held 200+ cars down the road from New Theatre has screens around it, presumably for development, and is no longer available. Tried the other one at the back of New Theatre and impossible to park. All the surrounding areas were full so ended up coming home with my Wife really disappointed, not to mention wasted £68 on tickets 😡. So that we didn't waste the evening, I took her to the Nags Head in Routh and we had a meal. They were just about to stop doing meals but they fitted us in considering the circumstances, which was really good of them and much appreciated. The meal (Steak and Ale Pie) was absolutely delicious, the beer very tasty and the staff fantastic. We had popped in on previous occasions during the day with our dog for a drink but this was the first time we had a meal and it certainly won't be the last. I cannot recommend this Inn highly enough for it's warmth, food and friendliness.

Visited for Sunday carvery and it was very nice. Everything hot and tasty. Staff all pleasant in particular the young man serving the carvery who was very pleasant and attentive.

This pub is great for a quiet meal out. The staff on duty, Martin and Ryan made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and the cheesecake was delicious. Would definitely recommend The Nags Head for a great night out.

Family 60th wedding anniversary. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had ages from 80yrs to 8 weeks the staff made sure we were all catered for. Food as usual was lovely, would highly recommend.

Went for Sunday carvary with my wife and our dog Charlie. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. But best of all the food was excellent and plentiful. It is rare in our experience to find a dog friendly, people friendly pub that does great food!.

The Nags Head is a traditional British Pub. Menu offers a good selection of dishes including vegetarian/ vegan options. Warm welcome and efficient and friendly service. Food is good quality and served in timely manner. A great lunch.

Pre booked a table . On arrival Michaela greeted us and took our order. Our order was quickly dealt with and our started arrived quickly, hubby's favourite. Main meal delivered by Toni , another friendly staff. Meal was delicious and wouldn't hesitate in retuning.

Reasonably priced, well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Carvery is perfect, no complaints there. Service also excellent. well deserved of 5 stars, if you gave this place a low rating i recommend you swing back and see how this has changed.
