Been before always had good service but this time, food so much oil and not cooked the way required

What a fantastic place. Stopped for a spot of lunch with my family. It's was a lovely atmosphere and great service. Food was lovely and we will return.

Food came out cold which is surprising as it wasn’t busy, there’s no excuse for an eating establishment not to serve piping hot food, especially chicken. The staff did replace it, still not piping hot but okay although my husband’s steak was 1/3rd inedible

If I could give a zero rating I would! Ordered two sandwiches which we waited over 45 minutes for. Waitress brought one out questioning if we had ordered two...the second sandwich came out a few minutes later which had obviously been thrown together. What I could only explain as 3 cold chicken nuggets ramed in an over cooked baguette with a slice of anemic bacon thrown on top. The cold phyliy steak sandwich was more dog meat then steak! I'm fact my dog has better meat then what was in this so called baguette...didn't even want to risk feeding it to the dog! The waitress was a headless chicken running around trying to sort wrong order, very stressed out. Got a full refund on both meals, we choose not to wait around for round two....we didn't want to eat at tea time!!! Deffinently will not be returning as this isn't the first time I've been to this pub and had an issue with meals!

Since Chris left the pub has never been as good. The food today was abysmal and the service so slow. There appears to be a shortage of staff. Bring Chris back. They also now allow dogs in and have doggy treats. If you need to do that then its a sign that you are struggling. You should not have dogs where you arte serving food. Weatherspoon's do not allow dogs in and they are very successful

Waited for 45 minutes for 2 meals. Hardly any people in, disappointed.

second visit too this place after the first time was not great but gave it another chance, what a shambles , sent the steak back 3 times and eventually just gave up. medium rare I asked for, first time came well done sent back second time it was blue, and third time they just tired to recook it again and it's was still raw in the middle, dried and just pathetic, even told the waiter to touch it in the middle it was that bad. don't know who cooks there but they definitely need some lessons, it's a shame such a nice little village pub aswell

The young staff on the bar & serving where very polite and very efficient with taking order and bringing out the food however that’s when things went down hill am afraid all the food was either cold or Luke warm my elderly mother actually asked for hers to be zapped in the microwave which the young man kindly did however all 9 meals where in need of heating up the chips where actually very crispy but stone cold my chicken on the kebab was tasty but in parts cold . It was a birthday meal and we really did not want to spoil the evening by complaining about every meal as we had waited 40/ 50 mins for it to arrive . Need to do better am afraid

Hi we came today for a surprise birthday meal , There was an hour waiting , not many in , table we was sat at had not been cleaned , we ordered the food , when the food arrived we had to ask the young male staff to clean the table , chicken was not warm at all , onions rings was burnt and hard , the full food was absolutely awful , my partner left his he got the burger , we will never return to this pub again , very disappointed , when told the young male staff the food was cold , he said sorry and no one came to see us , disgraceful!!

Visited here for tea, food took over an hour to come out, bear in mind the pub was almost empty. Once the food came all the meals where cold, I’m not even sure they had cooked the curry the centre was frozen still quite shocking considering the “cooks” only have to reheat a pre made meal. The only food that was edible was the dog treats provided on the entrance. Disappointing would be an understatement, shocking that this pub is still in business. I would also like to add that the customer service was terrible, being that we could of gotten food poisoning from frozen food they still made us pay for the drinks and didn’t care that our food was uncooked. Offered to reheat our uncooked food not even a fresh meal. I can honestly say I have never had such an awful meal going home unhappy and starving, safe to say we will not been returning and I would not recommend the nags head to anyone.

Myself and my family went to Nags Head this evening for a meal (4 adults 1 child) and we couldn't be more upset. Having asked for the missing Dianne sauce for my steak I then checked my steak to find it well done, I asked for rare to medium and so returned the steak. I was then surved a second stake, well done again and it came with peppercorn sauce, not Dianne! I complained again! This resulted in a heated debate that ended with the so called chef threatening to fiscally assault me before being ushered back into the kitchen by his manager. Seriously disappointed and hungry!

So I was pretty disappointed in the quantity of meat we received... it was literally slivers of meat. When the meat was being carved i thought Shirley she giving me another slice of each, but no, it was a thin small sliver of meat. Pork, turkey and beef... I don't think it was 2 oz of meat. Lots of sides but was disappointed in the meat...

Have been to the nags head a few times was very happy and price good for what you order when on Sunday about 7pm they was 7 in our party thay was alot thay didn't have but it was late so we ordered other things instead 3 meals were cold fish was over cooked and pudding were cold we sent them back and was all sorted we went tonight thay was a party of 6 for curry 3 was cold didn't want them to be reheated because it was chicken asked for a refund the girl behind the bar was not very rood and she said that the manager was not bothered when she asked him about the refund will not be going back again wich is a shame because it can be nice food but I think we have wasted alot of money over the past week will give 1 star only because the place is clean

This is the first time I've visited this place, and the steak and ale is very tasty. Service is good, nice and friendly, with everything on the menu being reasonably priced.

All staff very friendly courteous and polite. Accommodating to small changes in menu to suit individual tastes. Very dog friendly which makes it’s easy and a pleasure to be able to go out and enjoy a meal with our family when we are staying at our holiday home on a nearby holiday park.

We had a large party of 14 and was pleasantly surprised that the staff member on duty was more than happy to come to the table and take our order, rather than having to order at the bar, which is more the norm for this establishment. A great time was had by all and the food was of a high standard. A minor (mistake?) where some onion rings were placed on a meal instead of as side orders was very quickly and efficiently handled, leaving no room for any complaints. I would definitely use The Nags Head at Routh again as a great evening was had by all present.

Food very poor, steak pie had no meat in it, and chicken and mushroom pie had no chicken.... food just as bad as it was the last time we visited some 5 years ago, its taken us that long to pluck up the courage to try it again, as we only live 5 minutes away and pass the Nags Head daily.

Excellent service popped in on Saturday for a quick bite after a walk along the Beverley beck the atmosphere was chilled with music in the background and all staff welcoming and polite the place was immaculately clean and all tables were set ready for the next customers. I ordered my food using the QR code on the table and I made a mistake with my burger accidentally choosing the lighter option and they swapped it over no problem at all and very promptly so I could still eat with my partner I’m so impressed with the quality of the food and the staff. We will definitely return thank you Nags Head team 🐴

Shocking experience today ordered a large carvery and regular carvery as well as a portion of fries for a child Only one server on carvery which took almost 20 mins to get food And then to top it all off waited 48 mins for the fries which when was missed and when turned up came wrong and I was made to be the bad customer not ideal nags head sort your staff out ridiculous I have been coming for years This was posted Sunday 23rd March 2025 Table 13 1.30pm table booking Sadly I will no longer come to This establishment again you don't treat customers like crap simple as very poor quality and folks around us all felt the same ( didn't know anyone) but nobody would be returning

We past this place all the time on the way to skipsea sands and thought we would try it finally, the wife had the mixed grill and loved it and I had the steak pie it's was lovely, both meals were very generous portions and filling even though we had room for a dessert each. We walked out the there very fulfilled and will 100% definitely return again👍

Absolutely disgusting behaviour from senior male staff (manager?) rude shouting stamping his feet. WE had booked too, let us order drinks told no more food at all, said we had booked gave in & told us food would be nearly 2 hrs luckily it wasn't.

Bit slow on a Saturday but Sunday carvery was best I have ever had

Just like to say, we visited this pub or restaurant this evening and found it very bizarre that you had to order at the bar and when going to the bar they told us they was a 20 minute or half an hour wait for starters as they are having difficulty in the kitchen we ordered starters and the starters was absolutely ridiculous. We ordered the buttermilk chicken strips that were very spicy when pulling the lady up about them she said she went and checked the packaging and said it says butter milk chicken strips so I asked for the allergen paper and she said you need to look online after the starters the main came out we ordered two gammon with egg and pineapple you couldn’t even put a fork into the chips. There was that dry and hard the tasted disgusting. So we got up went to the bar and asked for a full refund honestly I feel sorry for the staff of the establishment as it is a beautiful place usually it used to have table service. We will not be returning to this restaurant again it needs sorting out as the place will eventually close down if the service and the food carries on like that I’m really sorry I didn’t want to leave a negative review but I thought other people should know

Have attended this pub quite regular. Over the past 3 months the service has gone downhill. More often than not there are items on the menu that are not available. On our most recent visit the coffee machine was either not working or had been cleaned down meaning that our designated driver could not have a drink. Surely the staff could have offered the option of having an instant coffee. After all they are in the business of being a hospitality venue. The another annoying thing was that even though the pub is advertised as being open till 11pm at 9pm the pub was closing and we couldnt get another round of drinks. Yet other patrons were in the pub consuming food and drink. So disappointing and we wont be rushing back. Come on Nags Head you got to do better.

First time visiting the Nag's head having recently moving into the area. First impressions we're good, it was clean, nicely decorated, plenty of seating choices and friendly staff. We ordered some food which was really nice and we will be visiting again soon.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food came quickly despite been told it was an half hour wait. All the food was hot when served and was delicious.

The carvery was amazing and it was possibly the best Carvey that we've ever had also the gentleman serving the carvery was super friendly . Where would Hayley recommend the Nags Head

Came today (16/2) to try the carvery after a nice lunch on 27th December. It was absolutely lovely. For people that did not want carvery, the food came out all at the same time then people who wanted carvery could get theirs. The carvery was all delicious. We have paid a lot more for a lot less and not as good quality. It was fresh and tasty. My share was £54 for 2x carvery and 2 x main meals, we all agreed it was amazing value for what we had. Staff were just lovely and couldn't do enough to help. Thank you and we will be back soon.

I had the fish and chips recently and it was far from the best l have had.I wish now that l had gone to a proper fish and chip shop and at £14.99 it wasn't good value.I won't be going there again.

Great for kids meals. Good service. Small climbing frame helps distract kids until food ready. Much improved since new landlords took over at beginning of 2825.

We sometimes come for the Sunday carvery when visiting family in Hornsea, but today we called for an early evening meal, it's always clean and tidy and the staff are very pleasant, the food was lovely and tasty.

The food was lovely. We recently visited red sails who always have the same menu and I have to say nags head was so much nicer and better cooked. The new landlady was very welcoming and helpful, we will definitely return.

It was a lovely experience with fabulous food. I had the curry, it was a Wednesday, and it was superb...and so much! Unfortunately, I had no room for pudding but there's always another day! The staff were attentive and the place was clean and tidy Wonderful first experience.

Several items on the menu unavailable so had to settle for alternatives which weren't really what we were looking forward to. Also food not as hot as it should have been.

We love the place usually but food was stone cold, plates stone cold, poor quality compared to normal. Very small mushrooms 3, 2 onion rings, half a small tomato and steak was rare but poorly cooked and cold. Should be served on a hot plate and steak pie was cold! Small amount of peas. Small jacket pot!! We got 30% off but that should not reflect in the quality of food served. So we were disappointed and wondered WHO had cooked the food as it was quiet in there, just one man serving doing everything until another man appeared later!!

Don't bother with Christmas Day food. It's a very expensive glorified carvery. Tables not even decorated apart from a cheap cracker. Even the reservation slips were just printed out on a bit of paper. Zero effort had gone into making this special for people and there was zero atmosphere. A complete and utter waste of money

Just returned from a fantastic boxing day lunch! We had a mixture of 2 and 3 courses from the festive menu, couldn't fault any of it. Lovely carvery, lots of choice, good options for vegetarian and vegans, overall a great meal out. Have also been recently on both Sundays for a carvery and mid week for burgers. Had great, home cooked food every time. The staff are worth a special mention as well for their great, friendly service. Nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend 👌

2nd time I have visited and good experience

We visit fairly regularly but yesterday was not a good visit. 3 of my party had steak and 2 of them were tough. Waitress came and asked if everything was okay and my friend explained hers was tough. She was offered a different knife !! The steak was sent back and after 15 minutes another one appeared. My friend had purchased an additional sauce but we were advised we would have to pay for another even though it had been poured on the substandard steak. Very poor customer service. There was one table of approx 16 but other than that minimal people in the pub. My husband also stated that the gents toilets were disgusting with a smell emanating before you reached the outer door. As they are very near the carvery that is most unacceptable. We may not visit again.

Great food, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere

On a very cold day, The Nags Head was lovely, warm and welcoming. We ordered the carvery and a lovely bottle of Sauv Blanc. The carvery was delicious. The Turkey and Beef succulent, huge Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and big selection of veg. The gravy was really tasty too. Had a great visit and enjoyed every minute.

Food part cooked could have thrown cauliflower at the wall and it would have put a hole in it meat tasted sour won't be returning for a carvery ever

We both decided to have the curry special that was on offer and it was delicious. The portion was a great size, served along with nan bread, poppadom and mango chutney it was delicious and we will definitely be having this again. The staff were friendly and the pub itself, even though we went early, had a good feel to it and was clean. Would highly recommend a visit
