Nag's Head in Erewash

Sorry to say today's experience was bad overcooked omelette twice filling like a pizza topping. 8oz steak burger more like a 4 oz smash burger over cooked and dry. Cujin chicken as thin as a cracker and grilled to death. We have been patrons of the nags head but after what we were served today its in question. Plus 1 of the landlords stood right in front of us and didn't introduce himself. I wish the staff the best and hope they stop cutting corners with the food and deliver what we expect from this local stable.

We were squeezed in at short notice as a table for 8. Birthday banners were at our table as it was someone in our parties birthday, which I’d only briefly mentioned when booking. The food was superb, great value for money & all the staff were so friendly. Would highly recommend!

This pub is the gem of Sawley. Debs and her wonderful team make the most incredible home cooked food in the most loveliest pub atmosphere in the area. I’ve recommended The Nags to all friends and family and they all comment on the lovely food at friendly atmosphere of this pub and always return. It is recommended to book if you do want food as it can get a little busy. Drinks are all spot on and very tasty too! If you are visiting the area, I can’t recommend this pub enough!

We took some friends for lunch yesterday. Another excellent lunch. It is so nice to have items on the menu which are different. It makes a great change from the pub chains which all offer very much the same, Eg. our maind courses were ham egg and chips, cottage pie , fish and chips and liver and onions . You could have had faggots - what a refreshing change . The sticky toffee pudding to follow was brill. You need to book and prices are very good . Drink the pedigree it is super.Excellent service well done all around.

Relaxed atmosphere, quick service

We didn't get a chance to taste the food. Initially, we were moved from the empty lounge to the bar as the tables were reserved for later in the evening. We were assured that someone would come to take our order, but it took an hour. By then, we'd booked elsewhere.

We arrived for food Saturday at 7.35 to be told food finished at 7.30. Your website clearly says 5-8 food served. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE.

Traditional pub, excellent ales and exceptional home cooked food... The chef apologised that the steak had burst out of its pie case! You don't get that problem with shop bought pies.

What a gem of a pub. If you want a traditional pub, with home cooked food. Then this is the place. Excellent value for money. Friendly staff, even got a cupboard for dogs, with treats in. Well worth a visit.

Booked a table for 3 couples on a Saturday early evening and shared a meal with our very close friends. The service,food and price were all excellent and we enjoyed the occasion tremendously. We can't wait to visit again.

Decent olde-style pub with nice staff. Real home-made food. Reasonable choice of standard ales, plus a couple of cask ales. Dog friendly. Outside area.

Went in for lunch during the week. Most of the tables were pre-booked and was a great sign of the food to follow. Really excellent and good value too. We'll be back for sure!

Super traditional local pub - separate Bar and Lounge in the old fashioned way which I love! Pedigree and guest ale both good. Food menu looks okay and sensible prices; locals say its good but I haven't eaten there yet - will return to try.

Went for our annual cycling group Xmas meal! Small but very friendly pub with home cooked food. Great Xmas meal from friendly staff at a very reasonable price. Good well kept real ales!

I cant believe how rude the landlady is abusing customers who are supporting a local pub. I got called numerous offensive words for no reason and am truly disappointed with the way i've been treated. You should be ashamed by the way you treat customers. Im still in shock with how an owner can act and get away with just because its "her place".

The wife and i have just had a meal in the nags head and it was proper home cooking. Everything cooked to order and was delicious. Top marks to the pub for the meals and the service was excellent too. Best meal in sawley by a long way

I have just celebrated my birthday with 11 friends at the Nags and everyone of us enjoyed our meal. It was generous portions beautifully cooked at a reasonable price and we will all definitely return. Good old fashioned meals and delicious puddings.

Visited the Nags head yesterday n a recommendation. Must say, We we’re not disappointed. Greeted at the door and shown to our seat, we were offered three different menus A list of specials, a light bites and a list of home cooked food. We decided on the home cooked menu and chose the 10oz t bone pork chop, the gammon and eggs and the homemade faggots all with homemade chips. The food arrived in good time and was piping hot. The pork chop was 2 inches thick and very succulent and accompanied by the thickest piece of black pudding ever, the gammon was beautifully cooked and had a hint of mustard and honey and the faggots were very tasty and well seasoned. The best bit of the evening was the wonderful homemade chips, big, chunky and very tasty. Service was excellent too and the prices were a bargain for the quality of the food. We’ll be going again soon

I was one of a group of six (plus dog under table) there for a Christmas dinner, although I had the stake and ale pie with chips. It was excellent and obviously home made. As was the bead and butter pud! Service was friendly and well timed despite them being busy. I seldom write reviews but I thought they deserved the above. I shall return.

The pub has the air of being old fashioned and once you’re in there’s nothing wrong with that! Very traditional food cooked well for a price I’m more than happy to pay. Should serve for longer as there’s surely custom for such great food.

Went out for a belated works Xmas n birthday drink Saturday. We was made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The waitress/ bar lady arranged the tables so we could seat 6. Not a problem for them. Drinks brought to us quickly and efficiently. Will definitely call again! Thank u x

Expensive and somewhat Run Down. Pleasant atmosphere, Ate there once, but wouldn't rush to do it again. Pubco's are difficult to compete with, but with a little investment, could be a very good place to go.

Atmosphere absolutely brilliant, staff were very helpful everything I wanted them to be. I was a little underwhelmed with the festive menus and the food was only warm and I do like my meal hot. Having said all that we had a brilliant night.
