Delicious sushi. We’re regulars. Highly recommended!

Ordered some small dishes to start followed by ramen, very nice food and good portions too! Service was good and the atmosphere was also nice. Worth noting it is cash only, but there is a cash machine a few doors down.

Expensive but very authentic food.

The beef yaki udon and terayaki beef are absolutely delicious. I also highly recommend the Dragon Roll and Spider Roll, they are all so tasty! I would definitely leave a positive review on Google for this place.

Two of us went for dinner on Saturday night in late April, no reservation. It was about 8pm. We found a table and the place quickly filled up. I had heard good things about this family business and was keen to check it out plus we were hungry. It took ages however for our order to be taken , about 45 minutes. They acknowledged us and took a drinks order but there was only one person serving all the tables inside and outside. By now we were starving and thinking of leaving. We stayed and eventually they took our food order. Once placed, the starters and main came in a timely manner and the food was delicious. Would love to give 4 stars but they need to hire help for busy times to improve speed of service.

My favourite restaurant in the area. The food is delicious and authentic. I’ve tried all the ramen joints in Manchester and the spiced beef ramen here is unbeatable. The menu is extensive and full of great dishes. All my friends and family love nagoya and I’d highly recommend it to anyone. A must try!!!

We could forgive the terrible service, having to ask for plates for example, my partners food coming 15 minutes after mine etc if the food had been tasty. I said my beef teriyaki was tasteless and I was actually really hungry so they brought me some salt! Have had good take aways before but the staff were not interested in what I was trying to say. The food was bland. I left my main course and they still wanted us to pay for it. Then they only wanted cash and nearby machine broken so we had to drive to get cash! Useless! Not going back there again! Shame really! Oh and then it turned out they do take cards!

The food is good. The service is not good. The staff said they have min charge, for £15 per person. But haven’t showed the notice in any way.

One of, if not the, best sushi place in south Manchester!! A small family ran business where you can tell that the food is cooked from the heart. Brilliant atmosphere and all of the food was freshly made. There were people in our party who had never tried Japanese food before, and it's safe to say they've been converted!! Would 100% recommend, I would make sure to book well in advance for a large group as it's a very very small space.

Absolutely delicious food, as always, all freshly cooked, had to wait awhile, but it was definitely worth it.

Having recently arrived back from Nagoya, I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant local to me with a lovely mural of the castle & offering Japanese food. The sushi platters were OK but the chicken with the yaki udon tasted a little off. The service didn't feel like a Japanese experience. Would I go back again? Probably not.

We first time here for our daughter 16th birthday. The food was amazing as well as the service.

Don’t get me wrong, this place is amazing and very tasty. The food is delicious and the service is great as well. However, there is one thing i regret not doing before visiting which is check the food hygiene rating. This place has a rating of 1 which is a nope for a sushi restaurant. Raw fish is being handled here. I took a big risk by eating here. I hope nobody gets sick and that the restaurant will do everything possible to improve their hygiene rating to at least 4. Then i might return again, because I did enjoy the food.

Small restaurant in a lovely old victorian parade. Food was absolutely top notch, there were 4 of us eating and everyone loved there food. I had veg tempura and bibinba, which I thought was fabulous. Portion sizes excellent, and therefore this is not only good food but good value for money. As people have said service is a bit hit and miss but its a small local restaurant trying to survive. I think you should ignore that and go as the food is pretty awesome.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant - the best Japanese food I’ve ever had in the UK. Sushi is super-fresh and well-prepared. For the quality, it’s tremendous value. If it’s busy, you might have to wait a bit as it’s just the 2 owners who work - 1 cooks, the other serves. If that’s a problem for you, Pizza Express is close by 🤣

Staff is awful rude, arrogant, food is good, write down you don’t make a take-away. Have been taking take-away couple times suddenly they don’t.

Everything was great. Sushi rolls were tasty. All the dishes were flavoured well and really balanced. Service was also very good and friendly. I always try to visit the place as often as possible.

The food was delicious. I don’t remember when I had such nice flavours in the japonesa food. I had the avocado maki and the taste and seasoning was amazing. It was nicely decorated in fine details. We also had the Spiced beef Ramen and it was delicious! All my friends enjoyed their meals also. The food was quickly prepared, but we went there around 4pm on a Friday and we were the only ones there. We loved and I will go back. 👌🏼

Five stars for the food, it was delicious. However, we asked for hot sake but they served it cold, with a small candle that needed 30 min to warm up... They don't accept card payments, only cash or bank transfer .

Overall a 3. 5 for food, 1 service. Food is incredibly good: gyoza, sashimi, rolls, ramen all excellent. Service shocking: grumpy, slow, no smile, no thank u, very bad manners. On balance - just go next door and get Japanese good food and good service.

I loved my sushi, and seaweed salad, would definitely go back for more. The only downside was my partners teriyaki beef. He expected it to get like the typical teriyaki beef you’d get in a sushi bar, however it was watery and tasted more like a stew. The beef I tried was delicious, however my partner mentioned some of it was quite chewy. We’ll definitely be back for the sushi. Interior is really beautiful.

The experience was great. It was our first time and the sushi was awesome. Really enjoyed the noodles and kingudon Prawn[rice] along with chicker starter. The desserts were exquisite with the bubble tea being our favourite drink. The japaneese lemonade bought back memories of golli soda from back in India.

The quality of the fish and cooking techniques are unbeatable! Well, it is even better than a lot of the regular sushi restaurants. The sashimi are good too... On top of all that, their price is very reasonable as well.

Quality of service was not great. Staff lacked attention to detail, initiative and had attitude. It was quite hard to get their attention. When dishes were brought out, cutlery and plates were not made available, had to ask each time as they took some of the plates back in. When we asked for hot water for the table we were told they didn't have hot water. Upon further questioning, as to why they could make tea without hot water they replied the cups didn't fit underneath the hot water tap. Eventually, they found a method of getting a cup of hot water somehow. Sashimi is not of high grade quality but is edible. Their rolls do have a lot of ingredients in them and if you like soft shell crab or fried prawn the dragon roll and spider roll are good options. The unagi don and curry was too sweet. No option to pay by card.

Food was very good. Good portion. Chef was friendly but I can’t say the same about the young lady waitress. She was unfriendly, blunt and rude. If you are there for the food and able to look past a rude waitress, it is a good place.

Friendly staff, good portions and very reasonably priced. The bill had no pre-included gratuity which is always a positive, but the experience overall was very positive so I gave a tip anyway.

Really good place to eat. Nice, warm atmosphere with relaxing lighting, and the service was friendly. The right sized menu offers something for everyone, without being excessive to the point you get lost, and the prices are right for the food and the location. Service was not particularly quick, and seeing the clutter in that miniscule kitchen, I can't see how they can improve on this, but I guess I can look past it because the food was good. Nicely presented sushi, sashimi in thick slices (though the daikon was inexplicably long and difficult to eat), and a subtly flavoured Char Siu ramen dish with beautifully seasoned pork, which left me happy. It is (currently) cash or bank transfer only, but they warn you before you sit down. It's a good experience - they really understand the significance of subtle flavours and balance in Japanese food, so the care in preparation creates a relaxing meal.

Amazing food and reasonably priced. Service can be a bit slow at peak times (there was only one chef) but the food is well worth the wait! Much better than the sushi restaurant next door.

Absolutely gorgeous food! We had salt and pepper tofu, tamago sushi, kimchi, seaweed, vegetarian sushi, and some seafood. I didn’t have the seafood but friends said it was gorgeous, and in terms of the vegetarian food the salt and pepper tofu was the best tofu I have ever eaten!! This is coming from a vegetarian who eats tofu regularly! Wonderful independent restaurant with fantastic atmosphere, decor and service. The plum wine was also exquisite and staff were wonderful. Can’t recommend enough!

It's a very good restaurant. This is really very good quality, and authentic Japanese.

I was very disappointed as having read the other reviews we were looking forward to it. The place was full when we arrived but the people next to us had been waiting over an hour. The service was slow and food arrived between 15 and 90 mins after ordering. This was consistent for other people with some people getting all their food and then others on the same table getting their food 30 mins or more later. Food was ok but not wow, but the extremely long wait means we won’t go back again.

The restaurant was packed that night and the service was horrendous. Every single table was asking for where there food was, several times. People were waiting over an hour for their starters. Some mains came before starters, and some people got their starters quickly and nothing else for an hour. There seemed be be no organisation from the staff of 3. The food was average when it did arrive. We spent over 2 hours there, not by choice as most of it was waiting for our food. Maybe we had a bad night, but I wouldn’t go there again.

First time tonight visiting Nagoya Sushi and could not recommend here more. The Salt and Pepper Squid was possibly the most amazing dish I have had in a long time. Each bite shocked me because I didn't believe the last was as good as it was. The Spider Roll and Spicy Tuna Tekka was also beautiful with fresh quality flavours. I would personally recommend that if visiting it would be best to get a number of small plates or Sushi platters as food can come out staggered but the quality trumps all. Again, cannot stress how amazing the Salt and Pepper Squid was and cannot recommend it enough.

Excellent small family run Japanese restaurant, we've dined here many times and thoroughly enjoyed the food. A good sign is that you get quite a few Japanese people eating here as well.

Visited on the recommendation of a friend, because I've never eaten 'proper' sushi before, and it was fantastic. Visited in midweek, and was able to walk in without booking, but it's not a huge restaurant, so you would probably need to book for a Friday/Saturday. We ordered a mixed sushi platter, chicken gyoza, and spider roll, and a bottle of wine to go with it. It was really good! The fish was tasty, good presentation, and I would definitely order/visit again. The meal above came to £45ish, which for two people is reasonable. This was also after a 10% discount, which they offer for people paying in cash (helpfully, there is a cash machine nearby!)

Best sushi in Manchester in my opinion. Have lived in Japan as a student and this is the closest I could find to what found out there, except there weren’t any scary items like in Japan! Very fresh food, and couldn’t have asked for more!

The sushi at Nagoya is fantastic. That can’t be faulted. Which is why I keep going back. The ambiance in recent years has improved dramatically compared to when they were Sakura House on Burton Road. Unfortunately, they have overstretched themselves staffing wise. I’m not sure if this reflects difficulty in hiring staff or a reluctance ( cash is encouraged! ) but our experience last night wasn’t fantastic. The owner who was also the only server was harassed- not a smile in place, and service was painfully slow, with dishes trickling in one after the other. We were sharing so it didn’t matter but if you were not, expect an hour between one persons meal and the other! Don’t get me wrong, I’ll go back- as it’s the nicest sushi in didsbury- but I’ll remember to avoid the peak weekends!

I made an order on their website , not heard anything back. So I phoned the restaurant and the person answer the call said, "Sorry, we are very busy. We are too busy tonight to do take away." and she put the phone down without letting me speak. Why not put a note on the website or at least not be so rude to put the phone down. For such rude behaviour, they do not deserve my custom.

Great restaurant. I've been to a few Japanese restaurants in my time and this one certainly delivers, for a good price too. I had ramen which was like a cuddle from my non existent Japanese grandma. Bonus points for the house wine; it was great.

I do not have the experience of eating there! But I had a drink there, my friends had some nibbles... Anyway the lady who served us was not friendly at all, request to us in a way to leave... Made us felt so uncomfortable for not reason at all! I wouldn't leave a review like this if the experience would have been pleasant!

Really bad experience.We went there to try some food and drinks on a Saturday.We took a table outside (restaurant was empty).A very rude lady came to serve us.We asked if it was ok to sit there.She said yes but keep staring at us like something was wrong in a very rude way while I was feeding my baby.I keep asking if that was ok and she said yes but keep starring at us.We were thinking what to eat but she made us feel so uncomfortable for no reason that we decided to leave somewhere else at the end.I heard the food is good but they need to learn some manners.

We live nearby and have been about 15 times. I've also been lucky to try some great food in Japan. The food is amazing and good value. Its a lovely family operated restaurant with a small kitchen. However service can be slow and patchy. Providing you know this, sit back and enjoy....it's so worth it

Amazing sushi! This is our personal family favorite sushi and we have tried so many. We usually order lots of sushi rolls, such as spider, Nagoya, rainbow just to name a few. You can't go wrong here if you like sushi. Now we have not ordered hot food so I can't comment on that but the fish is so fresh, the rolls are yummy. Have been coming here since they first opened and will continue. Not the cheapest sushi but never disappointed.

These guys are just jokers! A guy came out and said to me rudely that I cannot sit in because they are too busy and they will not serve any food! 2 hours before they are shut! I have never seen something like that before! These guys are champions of rudeness and impoliteness! Stay away! Also they need to learn to speak some English!!
