Loved the ambiance and layout of the restaurant. The food was amazing and delicious the portions were good enough for the 2 of us to sample the various dishes. The host and server were courteous and engaging when they spoke to us and even offered suggestions. Overall an amazing place to dine if you want to taste a bit of the Catalan life while in Manchester.

Food was very good and reasonably priced, waiter was very attentive. It was very quiet but we did go at 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon so probably between typical servings

We had an amazing experience celebrating my husband‘s 43rd birthday! The staff were excellent, especially Peter. The food and drinks were superb! TAST Is a must eat destination, if you are traveling to Manchester. We cannot recommend it highly enough!

Lets start this review by saying I am Spanish, I was so excited when I saw the menu so I booked. Firstly, drinks, I understand I am not going to pay the same here that I pay in Spain and I respect that, but £36 for a jug of Sangria I think is a joke (considering the jug wasn't even a big size) We ordered, Olives (7 olives in total on the plate), boquerones en vinagre (5 pieces), tuna salad (which was very good), croquetas (this was made with very bad cheap quality ham as the taste wasn't great) and a tortilla (no onion on it and way undercooked) for all those tapas (small plates) the bill came up to £98, again, I understand Spanish restaurants in the UK are overpriced but I think this is way too much. You can go to bar San Juan in Chorlton and you can eat actual real Spanish food, better quality for half of the price, I wanted to try something new but most definitely will be sticking to bar San Juan going forward. Now I understand why its always fully booked and ''Tast'' was almost empty.

Not a huge menu, but really interesting food, beautifully presented. Staff were excellent. Catalan rice was lovely. Will definitely try that again. Churros were naughty but very nice. Expensive but it was a birthday treat!

Vert friendly staff and attentive service. The food was okay, but nothing that stood out and made me think that I would make a return visit. Also I thought that the wine list was a bit limited. Overall, there was nothing that I would complain about but also nothing that would tempt me to return again.

We loved it!!! All delicious… Especially the croquettes, the scrambled eggs with potatoes and squid and the senyoret rice (super tasty). And the churros with spectacular chocolate!!! We will definitely repeat on our next trip to Manchester :)

Tast is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Manchester. The team takes great care in using fresh produce for their traditional Spanish dishes. The service is excellent - casual yet very professional. If you happen to be in Manchester on a sunny day, it’s the ideal spot for enjoying tapas and wine. You'll feel as if you've been transported to Barcelona right away.

Fourth time here on trips to Manchester. Food is always amazing. Atmosphere warmer and more welcoming than the rather arrogant and hoity-toity tapas place a few doors down. Tomato and tuna salad, duck egg with potato, anchovies, sourdough with tomatoes. It’s all amazing. Highly recommended.

it was our 1st visit to tast & was a fantastic experiance from our waiter(liverpool) manto the food everything was wonderfull thankyou.

Really great food and service - the octopus and the prawn rice were exceptional and the anchovies and tortilla were very nice too (tortilla was a bit salty for us). The crema catalagna was delicious. By 8pm, they had sold out of 3 tapas dishes on what is not a very extensive menu. Unfortunately the vibe of the place was really odd - we’ve been trying to work out why, and think it’s in part because the lights were too bright, the furniture too hard (chairs were uncomfortable) and there were slight office vibes from some of the interior design choices. Really recommend that they work on improving the vibe, so that it matches the quality of the food (and the price-point). We paid £120 for two people, including two glasses of wine and one half pint. We probably could have ordered one tapas less - we left very full!

Sat outside for a wine before our meal elsewhere. Good service and wine was quite tasty. Solid selection of drinks and service nice too!

Loved the cod fritters with lemony foam sauce and it was great being able to specify ‘runny or firm’ tortilla, which was done to perfection. We’re still mystified how they made the crunchy, ‘popped’ potatoes that came with the duck egg & squid dish - they were great too. Service was very attentive and friendly. Great place for a romantic date or just a catch-up with a mate.

If you’re looking for good food then avoid this place. Atmosphere and vibes were ok.

My friends and I had a lovely lunch date at Tast. The serving staff were extremely helpful and pleasant explaining the Catalan way of cooking. The food exceeded our expectations with good portion sizes and well prepared. Such a beautiful sunny day which added to our enjoyment and created a real Barcelona atmosphere!

We were sat in the window which was fabulous to people watch. The waiter took our drinks order and within a couple of minutes we were drinking them. He was very friendly not too much just right. Took our food order and gave us some information about the food we ordered. The food came and it was so delicious . One of the dishes ( tortilla) was so delicious I ordered it again. Every dish was cooked to perfection. The service was vey good but not enough people on the floor especially as the tables outside were busy. All in all it was a beautiful experience. The waiter excelled himself. I loved the place so much I am going to recommend it to all my friends. I will be back in a month or so. Highly recommend this restaurant. So thank you everybody for delicious food, a nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Went on Saturday afternoon and left very Impressed We had 12 dishes between the four of us as suggested All dishes that we had were on equal par and absolutely gorgeous and very good sized portions for tapas I had the red wine “El Mago” which was good as the man himself. Overall it was a fantastic meal and couldn’t recommend highly enough

Absolutely amazing experience all round. Staff were amazing and very welcoming. They were able to explain everything on the menu and were able to adapt dishes for a nut allergy. The food itself was unreal, top quality and really felt like we were in Spain. The staff even gave us a choice of cava or a dessert on the house as it was our anniversary. Will be in a rush to get back there, wether that be for a full meal or a couple of tapas and a few drinks.

I expected better quality of food. The rice is very good but it is not worth the price. The tapas could have been much better. The croquettes are very good but the patatas bravas churro is average and the sausage is the same. I expected better based on the recommendations but hey, it's not bad to remind you a little of Spain :)

Wow, just wow. This restaurant is a dream with the most delicious food and lovely staff. Our server (male tall light curly hair) was able to guide us through the menu, making the best recommendations. Everything we ate, even the fresh herbs on the garnish were so flavoursome. Highly recommend the charcuterie board, sausage with white beans and the rice pork dish was one of the best things we have ever tasted. We live very far away but if we were ever in Manchester again, we'd definitely return.

Finally I got there as it’s such an advertised place . Not worth a hype. We had some wine and one starter . Waiting for a main meal which apparently they didn’t have and sorted out after 20 minutes. It was changed ok no problem. We’ve been given squid ink rice then . The amount of squid absolutely funny. The rice was really nice but it felt like eating rice only . Super overpriced for what you get . Waiting time takes ages tbf. For sure won’t be visiting or recommending. The food taste ok but the portions super small. Overall experience not great I’m sorry to say that . Definitely you can get much cheaper Spanish food in this city , giving you much better quality and without waiting for ages . Sorry , truly disappointed

Booked at lovely evening meal here for my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Lovely staff that was very aware of the occasion we were celebrating. Excellent food with some great choices on the menu. The service was over and above. Very tentative and took time to explain each dish. Well worth the evening spent. Our server was particularly exceptional and passionate for the food and service

One of the best experiences during our weekend in Manchester. Real mediterranean food, with fresh ingredients and cooked in an exceptional manner. The service was efficient and kind, while the atmosphere with live Dj Music was cozy and relaxed. Absolutely recommendable!

We were a couple who visited on a Saturday evening and were shown to the dining room upstairs. This has a contemporary minimalist feel. The wait staff were friendly and competent. The dual lengua providing a lovely nudge of authenticity. The food was just fabulous. We particularly enjoyed the tortilla with its slightly runny centre. We also loved the theatre of the duck egg and squid and the mixing of yolk and protein provide a delightful umami quality to the dish. The menu was short and each of the six dishes we chose from it we shared. We were positive on each and every one. Dietaries catered for with ease. Six dishes, two glasses of wine, a pint of beer and tip GBP 110. We thought it was great value for money given the quality of the offering. We recommend and will visit again.

Came to this restaurant because of its association with Pep. A great experience overall: pleasant atmosphere and service, and the food was delicious. Loved that everything on the menu was labeled in terms of food allergens. Would definitely return!

Food was average at best, lacking any real flavour. Potatoes were soggy, squid was lovely but very small portion for the price, sausage was nice but again, one sausage. Wine was not nice, £50 a bottle I expected more. Wasn’t offered to swap or an alternative, felt a bit disappointed as I was looking forward to a nice wine and I just drank water. Restaurant was empty so not sure why they weren’t attentive. Staff were nice but just felt like a huge let down as this was booked as a birthday meal. £100 total for two people when I wouldn’t have paid £10. Service charge added when they’ve not done anything. Felt totally ripped off and won’t be coming back.

Left a bad Tast in my mouth. We’ve had drinks at Tast a couple of times before, but have never dined. Menu has a reasonable selection, although prices seemed everywhere. Waiter was great, very attentive. Explained the menu and advised on how many dishes to order. Prices seemed confusing, snacks & bites ranged from £4 - £32, for tastets ranged from £8 - £22, the Catalan rice dishes (Famous signature Catalan style rice) were all at £24, even the seasonal vegetable version. We opted for 1 Deli and small bites, 2 vegetarian Tastets, 2 seafood Tastets and a seasonal vegetable Catalan rice. Dishes came as and when they were prepared, one or two dishes at a time. Food is fined, underwhelming, disappointingly small portions, some dishes lacked seasoning or taste, others were fine, presentation over quality. Prices did not match the portion size or quality of food. What was laughable is the price of the Tastets I order and got served. Duck egg, fried squid in a potato soufflé with tartare sauce at £14, what arrived is a dish with 5 small pieces of squid and some chunks of potato on a runny fried egg! King prawn and Mediterranean curry at £21 is a joke, a couple of prawns cut up into bits, served in a curry sauce with chunks of baby corn and okra. Overpriced for a small portion of over cooked prawns in curry. The main dish! The Catalan style rice arrived on a shallow baking tray, a thin layer of crusty rice garnished with a few bits of singed vegetables and several randomly placed dollops of mayonnaise. £24 for a supposed sharing plate, which is the equivalent of two side portions. I wouldn’t recommend Tast for food, far better places to eat with a reasonable price tag for better quality food. God, as much as it hurts me to say this. Even the tapas at Las Iguanas is better than the rubbish we were served at Tast, and at a fraction of the price tag. Won’t be coming back, and I don’t think we’ll even bother having drinks here anymore.

I've been to Tast on a couple of previous occasions where it was fantastic. Unfortunately though most recent visit was really sub par. The food was a massive disappointment, I had to send one extremely salty over seasoned tortilla back as it was inedible. Everything else was ok at best. Apparently the head chef recently left, this has led to food going from out of this world to a completely average tapas joint that's charging fine dining prices. Hopefully a new one is appointed soon and the former magic returns.

Unfortunately, not sure what all the fuss is about here. Food and atmosphere not matching up with the price tag (£70/head). My wife is Catalan and we've enjoyed a lot of fantastic Catalan food in the UK. This place doesn't rank in the top 5. There's nothing "wrong" here, but equally, nothing special. And when you factor in the price, it's unfortunately, pretty "average". We had a reservation on a Saturday evening for 4. We ordered from across the menu (including two of the specialty rices). It was all perfectly nice. The atmosphere and decor is a bit sterile. It certainly doesn't feel like a bustling Barcelona tapas restaurant, that's for sure! One thing that really let us down was the Catalan cheesecake (Basque Cheesecake). The recipe seemed to be strangely anglicized (extra creamy and smooth?) - that's my guess. Either way, nothing like the delicious stuff you find in Spain. Real let down. On the plus side on the desert front, we thought the Crema Catalana was pretty good! Hopefully our experience is an outlier. My fear however, is that many of the other reviews might be from people who don't have a good benchmark to compare to. While perhaps not specifically Catalonian, I recommend visiting Barrafina, and then comparing it to what you find here for a comparable price. We won't be returning sadly.

A real treat. We enjoyed the lunchtime menu, selecting six tapas for £36. Plenty of variety - boquerones, sough dough, croquettes, tortillas, patatas bravas and prawns. Fresh ingredients, well seasoned and beautifully prepared. Accompanied by two glasses of wonderful house wine. Attentive service and warm welcome.

Fabulous food and great service

We had our works team Christmas lunch at Tast for 30 people. The organisation of the booking was great and we had regular contact from Barbora to arrange the booking. The set menu food was delicious and they offered great service. We would absolutely return for a company meal again.

Spectacular food, unbeatable service. The girl who helped us, Rocio, was super nice and explained everything to us very well. Price according to the quality, the octopus and the ham croquettes are the best.

What a disappointment. When six of you pay £363 for a meal and come out hungry and sober it sums it. Totally overpriced, £44 for 4 small spare ribs, £24 for a thin layer of rice and veg and the food was nothing to write home about. The reviews say its veggie friendly, its disputed, On the Christmas menu there is a ONE veggie starter and ONE veggie main course. The a la carte menu has a small selection of veggie options but they are mainly accompaniments, ONE main course which was the thin layer of overpriced rice. VERY DISAPPOINTED

We booked the £18 special as our department xmas get together lunch. 14 of us so a large party for the bar area, though we were fully catered for. As usual, the food and service was second to none. Yummy dishes with no leftovers and very polite staff. Barbora was attentive from the moment of the first booking we made. Only negative, and i have said this before, is the décor. Insipid brown and beige with a need to fully refurb even if it is a through cleaning and paint job in brighter colours to match the vibrant food. :)

Downstairs Tapas good but not great. The area feels busy and more suited to a few drinks and a tapas plate or two with it than a meal. Upstairs restaurant was very busy and I can’t comment on the food being served upstairs but downstairs The food was okay King prawns (4) were delicious the tortilla though was awful and we left it. Not questioned if it was okay which was a shame as I’d had to chase it up and was really looking forward to it. Squid and Bravas both tasty and very well presented.

Exceptional service from the welcome on arrival to the exit and everywhere in between. The food was exquisite- every mouthful an absolute delight. The team behind this restaurant is an absolute delight.
