Myland Fisheries in Colchester

I’ll try to give an honest review, this is my local chippy , first I’ll say the good points , the chips are cooked fresh and have the right taste you would expect , cost £3.00 for small which is quite expensive , but my main concern was the cod fish, I ordered the large is £7.40 which is reasonable, but if I’m ordering a large cod I expect fish inside , unfortunately this shop tries to deceive you , the cod is all batter and there is a sliver of actual meat , which is really sad as I specifically wanted the cod but it’s all batter, definitely not worth the money , will never order from them again , but the chips were fine if that’s all you want.

Pretty sure recently changed hands. Chips almost inedible. Suspect cheap oil and not cooed long enough. Cod ok but oil again spoilt it. Never again

I’ve always thought this was the best chip shop in my area but I was very disappointed with the order I got tonight, the batter was really crispy and different from usual and the chips have really reduced in size. This has really put me off going again

Absolutely disgusted - they will only take cash payment, which is not safe when handling food in Covid times - and when everyone else is taking card payments only. Walked out in DISGUST, and won't go back there again.

Got fish and chips from there last night and the fish, supposedly cod, was awful. I had the same experience from them a few weeks ago and actually complained the next time I went in. All I got was 'Oh sorry' but no refund or discount. Won't be going back

We recently moved to Colchester and this is the closest chippy to us the food is very good.... hot and tasty...cod and rock are beautiful curry sauce bang on only down side on skate on the menu.....staff are friendly all in all a great little chippy

Fish and chips X2 and curry sauce a little expensive but very very nice.Excellent customer service and very quick would highly recommend this chip shop.

Great chip shop, reasonably priced, good portion sizes! The batter on the sausages were not as crisp but we were at the very end of their lunchtime service. Otherwise, very tasty!

Always fries our fish when we arrive. Very pleasant staff and good value for money. Clean premises but parking can be difficult.

Quality of all the food is good and you can see most of the products in the glass displays. Very popular with local people and many customers come some distance to visit a reliable fishery.

Just moved to Colchester at end of March 2018 . Now used this takeaway fish bar twice . We tried it a second time to prove the first time was not a one off as fish was excellent .

Fish fabulously fresh, white and succulent. Batter light, crispy and dry. Chips excellent. Staff very friendly. what more do you want?

Nos dirigimos a las pesquerías Myland un capricho noche de viernes como es nuestro local y aún así wed nunca ha sido. Abadejo y bacalao, pedimos una papas fritas grandes y guisantes blandos. Ambos tipos de pescado eran deliciosos, con pasta buena, las patatas fritas eran una buena baja medio (prefiero crujiente, mi pareja prefiere los refrescos) y los guisantes eran muy agradable también. Una gran relación calidad-precio en 12 libras. Volveremos!

Always been there and thought it was quiet nice with friendly staff,the food is lovely too.we have been using them for ten years now

Never a disappointment when we visit. Chips are lovely, usual chippy items sold here, and lovely staff there too.

This is a fish and chip shop. Other takeaway stuff is served here, but it's the fish and chips that count.
