Mwah Dim Sum Bar in Hastings

Whenever we come down to Hastings, this is a must eat. Hands down the best flavoured Chinese we have ever had. Lovely staff. Hot tasty food :) not too bad price £40 for two people. Can’t recommend enough

Really love this place generally but had a terrible experience tonight. Ordered food. Order accepted, food due in an hour, hour ends, driver apparently in restaurant awaiting delivery then as it approaches closing time they cancelled the order without explanation or apologies. No contact from restaurant just a note telling me this in delivery site beyond when food was due. No answer when I called to ask why. Really poor service

Would absolutely not recommend . Ordered via Uber eats and order cancelled 3 minutes before delivery was due. No food, no apology or explanation. Appalling! Avoid like the plague!

TLDR, good vegetarian/vegan options, particularly the vegetables and sticky rice. Super good value for money. I will 100% return, maybe even today. The food was fantastic, particularly the taro sticky rice, which amazed me. The dumplings were also delicious. I was a bit disappointed by the salt and pepper tofu, as it was too dry for me, however the veg was tastier than it had a right to be. The staff were super friendly, and although I didn't sit in, I love the look of the place. Came out to £30 for 2 hungry people with leftovers for breakfast.

Didn’t send prawn crackers and sent the wrong noodles I ordered tofu and I got sent chicken overall poor experience I wouldn’t consider eating here again

Great place to eat, take out or eat in. Clean, fresh food. Great cider too. Cool bathtub chair.

Love the atmosphere here - menu printed on the tables so no fighting over the menus, nice led lighting and great food.

This is just as good as take out. But amazing in restaurant to. A real family run business. Something to support.

Lovely staff but food is nothing special. Oily and salty and a little overpriced for pretty small portions.

This place is a very poor example of Chinese Asian food. Sweet and sour was red sugar sauce thrown over dry chicken nugget pieces. Sticky rice came unwrapped and tasted stale and old. The only good thing was the two white boys service who were friendly and polite. Surprised that reggae music was playing in a Chinese restaurant but liked the decor lights and logo of the business. Food was just about eatable but soon felt buyers remorse afterwards for standard fish n chips. Asians would be embarrassed about the taste of this food Not authentic at all x

Was excited to go here for a change from fish n chips. Salt and pepper chicken was dry rubbery didn't taste salty at all. Got a sweet and sour dip to go with it which was horrible, taste of sugar and looked like something you shouldn't eat. However my partner enjoyed his noodles. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish.

Went for the first time to try it. Two stars because some dishes were ok. The pork chow main was not the best. The bad thing was that my son found a bug crawling in his rice and the staff came back from the kitchen and said "it couldn't have been from the kitchen", well it was inside the rice, it s not like I placed a bug in there. We left disappointed and will never return.

Our food was awful the £8.95 soup had 2 prawns and 2 tiny pieces of duck in bland water

Mwah is a eatery with basic tables and chairs, a bit dirty and grubby inside. You can also sit outside weather permitting. I’ve eaten here twice now but doubt we’d return after today. It is obvious that very cheap ingredients are being used despite food not being particularly cheap. Whilst I did enjoy the dumplings and the steamed rice the sweet and sour chicken balls were slightly pink inside. The chicken was clearly processed poor quality and not real chicken meat. It clearly had lots of additives and chopped shaped chicken inside. We had to ask for a Highchair to be wiped down as it was filthy. There was no cutlery or napkins and we had to ask for some. We were given 3 napkins and 4 forks but no spoons or knives. Service was order and pay at the till, it wasn’t great. Meal was ok and extremely hot but quality of the food was really disappointing. Poor quality food is not for us. We won’t be back.

Nice place simple enough menu, the food was of a fairly good standard. If you are looking for a casual lunch by the seaside it's actually a good choice.

I really wanted to like this place but the food was dreadful. Vegetable spring rolls didn’t have a vegetable in them and sweet and sour prawns were tasteless and doughy. So disappointing

Food was ok nothing to write home about. We were surprised at how small the portions of noodles were. Came away still hungry having had starters and a main meal each.

usually come here and love the food. placed an order tonight after eating nothing all day and they didn’t deliver the order (through deliveroo) as they ‘gave me a notification but i did not respond’ which is a lie considering i’ve been on my phone all evening and did not receive anything.

Not sure if it was the end of the day and cjef was tired, but one of the worst tasting foos I have ever eaten. The sweet and saur chicken was sugar syrup with red colour. Noodles were over boiled, less salted, and some of them didn't even touch the wok. Never again.

Second time we have been, great food very fresh and hot and filling. Will definitely be back soon. Nice little place and friendly staff

When we went the food was bad quality and the restaurant was not nice to be in, won't be going back unfortunately! Hope somebody opens up a high quality Chinese in Hastings soon...

Had a whole bunch of the dumplings and buns as a mix match dinner at home for myself. Most of the food was okay but was shocked at how little meat was put inside the buns. Buns are the size of a tennis ball and yet only about a level teaspoon of meat inside which was very disappointing.

Excellent food, cooked traditionally. Good place, basic, no frill or fuss small eatery, no table service, but what a lovely find, with hearty food.

Try to look past the garish paint job and the rather odd, un-Asian name, because the food here is really good. There's a range of steamed, grilled and fried dim sum, as well as fried rice, noodles, buns and more standard Chinese dishes. In particular, the fried elements like the sweet chili chicken were on point. It would be nice if the worn furniture and uncomfortable benches could be replaced with modern, clean standard tables and chairs, though... it would improve the vibe no end.

Excellent food. Great customer service. The chef got one of our dishes wrong but was very quick to fix it and gave a complimentary beer for the mistake. Very tasty and fresh food. Highly recommend.

We were overall pleased with this experience, the restaurant had a warm vibe, with a welcoming staff and environment. The staff were lovely although the decor was a little plain. As soon as we came in, we were seated, then our food came quickly. One of us ordered a Mwah Bowl, which was delicious, as were the steamed prawn dumplings. I highly recommend them! The pork bun was delicious, and seemed to be made with a lot of love. Also, someone working there, who seemed to be the manager, couldn’t have been more kind and attentive. Would definitely come here again! And we highly recommend it for a quick dinner! :)

Good taste and freshly made. The portion is a bit small or at least the rectangle dish makes it look small but still okish on fulfilment. Vibe is nice to hangout without loud music.

I’ve been here before but I went again recently and I was sadly let down massively. The Sui Mai was genuinely inedible, they smelled like perfume and tasted like dog food. The steamed prawn dumplings were stale and hard. As a student it’s very hard to see £18 go to waste on food that i didn’t even eat or enjoy. Would appreciate some form of compensation.

We received a phone call to say that our food would be a little late. This is excellent customer service because our expectations were managed. Food arrived hot delivered by cheerful driver. Good sized portions and great food.

Love this place, it always has such fresh tasty food at great prices plus lots of options for veggies and vegans too. The food is always so clean tasting, not covered in sugary, sticky sauces like so many Chinese restaurants, the noodle soups and prawn dumplings are divine! They deliver too and are usually super fast, can highly recommend this top spot, great value all round.

Gem of a restaurant. I used the app for service, which was really easy to use, but you could just order from the counter as well. Service was friendly and the food was fresh, vibrant and tasty. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Couldn't ask for much more really.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed the food & the chilled out atmosphere of this little restaurant, the middle aged man (I think the owner), very cheerful with the customers and kind to his staff really impressed me. I went back today, I had exactly the same experience, I love this place. The food is good, in good portions, well presented and fair priced. I made this my pit stop when I go to Hastings, today I was in Battle, jumped on the bus, had dinner there and back to Battle for the bonfire night...that is how special Mwah is to me!

Had a real urge for noodle soup. This place didn't disappoint. Char Sui pork arrived quickly. Tasted great. Loaded with meat and veg. Staff friendly. Definitely returning.

Not as good as the other times I have been there. Griddled dumplings over cooked by at least 40% Special rice this time wasn't so special. The rice in the leaf was like hard jelly. I'm going to try one more time and if its the same I won't use it again. Very disappointed this time. I got your response and thank you. I did mention this to the waitress who went to the kitchen. The answer she came back with was this is how dumplings are done. I feel that these dumplings wasn't griddled I lived in several parts of Asia and learnt how to make these dumplings.

Nestled between the usual fish and chip shops is this fabulous option for noodles on the sea front. A simple menu of dim sum, noodles, rice, soups, and soft drinks, tea, or beer. Highly recommended.

We stopped here after an evening at Hastings funfair and amusement park. The food was excellent. We had the set menu for 4 people and it was enough for our family of 5. Food is cooked fresh and portions were plentiful. Highly recommend this place 😊

Rye girls going for a drink in town.. Walked it because of the amazing smell... We were greeted by a lovely guy called nick.. He's very proud of his business and rightly so... Food came out promptly and remained hot the whole drive home. Fresh amazing food.. Lovely staf nick we'll see you again buddy

Buns were a mixed bag. Grilled dumplings fantastic, especially veggie Noodles OK and were made 'extra spicy' as requested. Good portion sizes and decent value.

We have eaten at Mwah in Hastings for two evenings. Delicious and fresh food. I had the Mwah 1+2+3 noodles and roast duck with veggie dumplings! Very friendly service.

Very tasty and something a bit different. We had a Mwah noodle pot each and shared a crepe but the pots would have been plenty on their own. The veg in the noodle pot was beautifully cooked - it had a slight crunch to it rather than being cooked to death, and the king prawns were also perfectly cooked. Will definitely go again.

The best kind of accident! We'd planned to go somewhere else but changed our mind and stumbled over this restaurant. The food was delicious the service friendly and fast. A really nice little place with amazing food what a find!

We wanted Asian food so we saw this across the road from the entertainment areas. We were drawn by the branding and the bright colours. We were skeptical however as at first as this was in the main road and often food spots aren’t so good in touristy areas. We were right. It was our own fault for not asking if the iced tea was homemade and £1.80 for small cartons of iced tea was the first flag. We ordered tofu and it was horrible. Watery and seemed to be made of egg and flour - and not the tofu we know. The dim sum was clearly from a mass packet and one lot wasn’t even warm. The noodles were ok but the meat was scrimping and fatty. We didn’t complain as we were tired and hungry but we just won’t go there again. Half of the restaurant was locked off for a play area for their children and was full of boxes and paraphernalia as well as noises coming from their gadgets. We were there for a good hour. We noticed the floor hadn’t been swept up and there were cobwebs in the corners. Overall the place needed a deep clean and if your Covid phobic this would have been hell for you ! So we don’t recommend this place however there is room for improvement.

I was really excited when this opened as there are no decent Chinese restaurants in Hastings. This was a huge let down - doughy dumplings and pretty meh.

After reading the reviews we decided to have a decent Chinese meal in Hastings, it was such a good decision. Sweet and sour tasted so good. The chicken balls were freshly made after waiting a little while. Service was very friendly . Highly recommend !

Best Chinese Food The noodle is excellent ,service great. As we lived in Fairlight for a number of years we think its the best and simple Chinese shop there.

We went here while visiting Hastings. Food was amazing, one of the best Chinese food we have had and wish they could open up places closer to Us! Service was ok the gentleman was polite and made us feel welcome. Good selection of beers too. Only thing was the seats was rather uncomfortable and not to the restaurants fault everything was in paper boxes and wooden forks but due to Covid I find this safe and acceptable. Will visit again.

The food was inedible! It was smelly and tasted so bad it all went in the bin.We contacted the restaurant they put the phone down on us then when the manager finally phoned he was aggressive and claimed there was nothing wrong with the food. Utterly disgusted and disappointed! I’ll be lucky not be be unwell

Every meal had been steadily worse since coming back from their great noodle soups. Tofu noodles today a massive disappointment.

After reading the reviews we were looking forward to finally having a decent Chinese meal in Hastings, but alas, it wasn’t to be. Sweet and sour smelt and tasted of vinegar. The chicken balls were soggy and it was a case of hunt the chicken, spare ribs were dry and the meat was extremely poor quality and the noodles were awful.

This place is great, lovely staff, great prices and great food.
