Could not have been worse. Passing by on a rainy evening.. went it for a quick meal. The seating is too congested. You can’t even keep a bag / purse anywhere.. the bowls are too big & the food too less! Even ingredients mentioned in the dish as per the menu were missing too! To top it all, the restaurant levied a service charge of 15% which I guess was a little too steep for a non-existent service! :(

Actually traditional Chinese food with a story behind all the dishes inside the menu. I enjoyed the Beef Murger Soup and would like to try more of the dishes

Probably one the best hand-pulled noodles I have had, many people recommended me their restaurants, I went to the one in Soho. The sauce was the right balance with flavor, spice and sauce

Visited this place craving for scrumptious Asian food roaming in the streets of Mayfair! To begin with, the ambience of the place is quite cute and cozy. The staff was very attentive too with the order plus in explaining us the dishes and suggesting us with what to go for. Personally, my experience here was quite different from other places as the food here looks like specially crafted food. From the appetisers to the main course, they had a unique way of making it and presenting it. And we loved everything!!! Things we ordered! Sex on the beach cocktail was refreshing. The alcohol content was spot on and paired well with the exciting dishes we ate here: 1. Tofu Skewers- this is nothing like the everyday skewers we have seen or heard of, these are sheets made out of Tofu and stuck on a stick with the gravy part being medium spicy and has a good aroma of garlic. Trust me, you will love this. 2. Grilled Veg Gyoza- stuffed with vegetables and served with sauce, it was very flavourful. 3. Rice glass noodles mixed vegetables in broth - this comes in a huge bowl with a good quantity of rice glass noodles and vegetables. The sauce is so tasty that it completely adds flavour to the whole dish. This is a must try! 4. Biang Biang noodles- lucky we got to try their limited edition Pride Biang Biang noodles. Now again, these noodles were hand crafted with the pride colours. It looked very colourful and tasted out of the world. The chili oil made it perfectly spicy and the aroma of the sauce was yumm. This is my personal favourite from the menu and you would not want to miss it for the world! 5. Icecream- last but not the least, the strawberry ice cream. It’s a cute soldier like standing figure in strawberry flavour. This too is a must try. Haven’t seen anything like this. Check out the photo for this one

The food seemed authentic and very tasty.. good sized portions and it was nice to have something a bit different. Staff were also very helpful in making recommendations about what dishes we might like based on our preferences.

UPDATE: We became regulars here until 2020 and were very sad indeed to dscover that it has closed its doors. A real loss to anyone who enjoys first quality Japanese food! This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in London but it is so authentic that you need a guide. The sushi is good, the usual menu items are very good but if you really want to eat well you need to choose from the blackboard with the day's dishes chalked up in Japanese. Marinated squid guts and tuna cheek are delicious and so genuine: you could be in a very good local restaurant in Japan. These kind of dishes are not found in most London Japanese restaurants and this is why Sakana Tei is special. Grab a Japanese or literate Chinese friend and treat them in return for choosing the delicious surprises you would normally miss!
