The food and customer service here is always excellent. The team are so friendly and efficient. My favourite place for Sunday brekkie.

Been past it plenty of time and finally visited. Had a lovely tuna melt and my parents had jacket potato. Great service, clean tables and friendly staff

On the plus side it's cheaper than most and apparently the mocha was pretty good. Unusually in the brunch burrito the fried potato ingredient turned out to be really soggy chips, the food took 45 minutes to arrive and it was all really, really greasy. Stomach didn't feel good after. If you stick with the fry ups it might be good but none of us would go back.

Been a long time since I was last in here. Lots of changes to the original cafe but over due I suspect. Nice hot English breakfast and reasonable size latte for under £10. Quick service as well. Think over all it’s lost a bit of its quirkiness.

Great breakfast, generous portions, reasonably priced and good quality sausages, very quiet when we came but weekday morning, would imagine gets very busy weekends, waitress friendly, will come again!

An experience I want to forget! The Cafe is very basic and is need of a refurbishment. Let’s talk about the food. I ordered the breakfast baguette which was awful. My wife ordered Avacado and poached egg on toast, when it arrived, it was pretty obvious the avacodo was not fresh, the toast was anemic and under cooked and the poached eggs were tiny and lacked a yellow yoke! This is a typical greasy spoon cafe which lacks fineness and am really surprised at the 4.5 rating as I would have rated this as a 1 star. Never ever will I visit this cafe again.

Here for breakfast on a Saturday, as expected it was really quite busy, the table got a quick wipe over with a cloth as did the menu stuck on the table. The wipe over seemed to move the crumbs around. Anyway ordered breakfast at the counter and teas delivered , followed by breakfast. A tasty English breakfast which can be ordered in various sizes to suite. The eating area gets very noisy with much echoing so quite difficult to hold a conversation when really busy. Food was good.

Our meals were very well presented, hot, plentiful and tasty. Note- an added coffee was advetised as £1; BUT BEWARE - Your £1 White coffee can easily become VERY EXPENSIVE by agreeing to an Americano like I did - and paying an extra £3.40. An Americano is simply a milky coffee.

Full English Breakfast was spot on. Well cooked, egg runny and bacon was nice and crispy. Couldn’t recommend it more if you like a filling meal.

Eaten here a handful of times and the food is always fresh and tasty. Service excellent and they are very welcoming to dogs. :-)

Hadn’t visited for years, last time was about twenty years ago when it was a very typical greasy spoon and local institution, Visited today with my Mum and my neighbour’s dog, who I’m dog sitting. To drink, I had a flat white with oat milk and my Mum a cappuccino and to eat, I had scrambled egg and spicy sausage on English muffin and my Mum had the regular scrambled egg on toast. The staff were all really friendly and kind - offering a sausage and water for the dog - and of course, lovely to us too. There was a nice atmosphere in the cafe and I’d definitely return. Located where Albert and Highland Road meet and at the junction with Festing.

There were mixed reviews so I was intrigued as to which were correct. And you know what - it was ok. In fact it was better than that. It was pretty good. Ok, if you’re part of smashed avocado hipster brigade then move along. But if you’re after a good, honest, old fashioned, great value cooked breakfast then you’re in luck. It wasn’t totally from a bygone age because there were vegetarian options to match the meaty version. All in all we all really enjoyed but you’ve got to be after that sort of thing.

Overheard kitchen staff say "wish she would f***ing hurry up, she's f***ing annoying me" as I had taken time to decide if what I wanted to order in a practically empty café. No apology from the staff member that said it or the staff member at the till even though I had made it clear I had heard. Can't comment on the food as didn't order anything after hearing that - completely unacceptable and will not return.

I’ve been here a few times now. Food is good and staff are pleasant and friendly. Portions are of a decent size and the sausages are excellent quality from a local butcher. Really is 4.5 star but half stars not allowed. Drops a half star for me due to bacon not crispy and toast not in the toaster long enough to be properly brown and therefore a little soggy. Easily the best breakfast in the area, I have tried them all.

I haven’t been here since I was at Uni here about 20 years ago! It was more of a greasy spoon back then but times have definitely changed. We ordered a couple of top quality flat whites whilst we checked out the menus, they had a good range of options to chose from. We both chose a fry up, the sausages where proper butcher quality, everything was cooked to perfection. Having seen another customer order the spicy sausage and scrambled egg, I’m sure I’ll be ordering that next time I come in. .

Very poor service and food was terrible.We went in for a late breakfast so sorry we did. No interest from staff to even take a simple order. Had to ask 3 times for our toast which they couldn't get right with no apologies.

Very nice place. Like the refit, the decor is very modern and clean. I had a ciabatta and husband and son had breakfasts. Food was served quickly and was very tasty and well cooked. Enjoyed and will return.

Quick visit to Mumms on Highland St for some drinks. Tea and Hot choc so can’t really score more than an average. Decent enough in a down to earth way. Not as polished as a Nero or Starbucks but then again only cost me £3.70....

This place is designed to make as much money as possible by offering as little as possible on a plate as well as Zero Customer interaction, even the owner has no idea what it takes to interact with a customer, just common decency would be a start instead you get a form of arrogance, I will never return!!!

We have breakfast here a couple of times a month and they excellent value for money.and very good quality. Service is always pleasant and since the refurbishment a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by.

been going to mumms for years and years, looks like they have had a refit and gone a bit more up market gourmet.trouble is portion sizes have vastly shrunk and prices have rocketed.large breakfast , burger and chips cant add on an extra burger any more have to buy a whole burger again. coffee and orange juice £20.90 disgusting.this is no longer the superb greasy spoon it was. filled with everyone like builders etcgirl also got my order wrong no beans i asked for.anyway long and the short of it, i been going about 15 years i wont be going back.i can only conclude just another overpriced gourmet job.my advice avoid if your after good plate of food for a reasonable price its not here anymore

It's a cafe, in this case, pronounced as Caff. Nothing wrong with it per se. It's yer good ol' fashioned English cafe. Only without the grisly ol woman behind the counter with a fag on the go.No. The wife and I stopped there for a cuppa at the start of December last year and ended up eating. It has been done up since we last went in there a few years ago and looks like it's run by someone else, but the food was good, the staff were polite and helpful and it was as it appeared.Will no doubt go again, just like we did this time. It is what it is.

I have eaten in mums for along time and today is the last time first my food came to the table and it was totally different to my order then I got my food and it was cold and tasted of old fat I will never go back

Large scale greasy spoon open till 4 PM somewhat reminiscent of American cafés and diners — and impression reinforced by the 1950s pop and movie portraits decorating the walls. The service is fast, efficient and pleasantly upbeat — and the food well-cooked and good value (e.g., hamburger £2.10).

If you want fancy nicely presented food stay away. However if you want typical British cafe style value for money food then this should not be missed.

I went for breakfast with my boyfriend and the ladies in the cafe could not have been more lovely. I wasn’t sure if I could take my dog but a customer said they were dog friendly and sure enough when I went to order, I was asked if my dog was allowed some sausage and the chef held up a bowl of sausage that she had just cooked and cut up to cool down. The waitress then brought it over to us with a bowl of water. We both had a great English breakfast which was large and inexpensive. Will visit again :)

Siento decir que fue repugnante, pollo sabía raro, parecía viejo y era difícil, tenía 1 bocado y lo puso a un lado. también tengo fotos que subiré. También me siento defraudado por tu comida y tu higiene ya que la cocinera estaba comiendo y cocinando en ese momento, no una vez vi que se lavaba las manos. estaré informando sobre la salud ambiental.

Fuimos allí un viernes por la mañana mientras la mujer se hacía peinar en las cercanías. Es una cafetería muy grande, con muchos asientos para elegir, me senté junto a la ventana y vi pasar la vida en el cruce de Festing, Highland, Albert Road, fuera de este café. La elección es de artículos para el desayuno era inmensa y a precios excelentes. Pedí el inglés COMPLETO, con eso quiero decir que tenía todo en él. Los huevos eran perfectos estilo "fácil", el tocino fue preparado como me gusta, las salchichas eran muy sabrosas, pero todo lo demás como champiñones, alubias, rodajas de patata, toms, morcilla, hash browns, etc. estaban bien. Todo el desayuno era un poco desalentador, pero estaba bastante libre de grasa y el precio era más que agradable, supongo que es por eso que este lugar siempre está ocupado, calidad, comidas considerables a precios excelentes. No necesariamente es el lugar donde tomaría a una chica en la primera cita, pero luego no pretende ser el Ritz.

Popped in this morning for a fry up and was not disappointed..Plenty to eat, nicely presented and HOT...I HATE cold food. Toilets were very clean...I noticed that the baby changing area even had wet wipes. Nice environment as well....Well done Mumms Diner.... I'll be back.

A lot of food for a very cheap price asked for my bacon crispy it wasn't had a hard egg other than that it was good could use better sausages and put price up a bit but up to them if u want a good quality breakfast don't go here sayin that I ate it all apart from said egg and bacon fat and I was full all day

Mums cafe has been a local place for years. It serves really tasty homemade meals that are really filling. Lots of meals to choose from with the omelettes being my favourite. Definitely worth a visit if in the area :)

Nothing like a good English cafe the morning after the night before! But this is nothing like a good English cafe! Definitely quantity over quality. There's good cafes that cook cheap, poor quality food well. This isn't one of them! Very cheap and no real talent on display!

Not from round here so finding a decent cafe can always seem to prove difficult. This one however is spot on, good tasty food, friendly staff and such reasonable prices!! Been last two mornings in a row and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

My guy and I are regularly customers at Mumms. We try to go in once or twice a week for breakfast, but our waistlines show that they don't hold back on good, tasty food. I always order the small breakfast and my partner the veggie. When Mumms was closed for some months, we try other places, but nothing came close to this place. Staff helpful, great value for money. One last thing, if I fancy going by myself, I do not feel awkward sitting by myself, watching the world go by. Thankyou Mumms for making me love living just down the road.

Good value, friendly staff and clean, a big feed. Luved the black pudding. Here from Oz and want a good English breaky and got it. It had the lot. Called a Mega Breakfast with a coffee or tea for about 10 bucks (5 quid).

Had the jumbo breakfast here this morning. This isn't the first time I have been here but haven't been for about a year. The size of the breakfast was excellent and value for money at 4.60 including tea and toast! It has certainly filled me up. The best way to describe my breakfast is a proper 'greasy spoon' breakfast.... Other options available but I do like a plateful of bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, mushrooms with toast and bread and butter on the side and lovely mug of tea to wash it down! Very clean in appearance and friendly staff who actually helped me put together the best deal from their breakfast menu.. I would definitely continue to use this cafe.

Ok so it's not the Ritz but if you want a decent breakfast on a budget the go no further! We had the English breakfast which were great for the price. The coffee wasn't great but then again considering the price I can't really complain.

I had a full English it was well cooked with friendly service, it is always good to find a good honest greasy spoon with friendly service, that is were Mumms delivers. If one wants a muffin and a latte then I am almost certain there are plenty of Starbucks near by if one wants a decent feed look no further.

We have been coming here for 2 Years now and seen it sadly go down hill in recent Months, what with closing at random times and unclean cutlery etc.We saw it was open today and noticed the shiny new shop front sign, and decided to go it a go.Well, they are back on track! The shop inside was lovely and clean, the cafe looked like it had enough staff to cope and the kitchen looked like it had a really good deep clean, and most importantly the food was excellent!We had the jumbo cooked breakfast and everything looked freshly cooked and tasted great! They sadly have taken a hit on reviews, but if they keep this standard up more customers will be back.Glad your back to the standard we love!We'll be back next week!

This cafe isn't no cafe anymore used to be lovely but now he's had to shut before food and hygiene shut him down till it has a deep clean and gets sorted of all sorts of things! I'd save your money cause I won't be back it's a dirty cafe, the food is awful anyway since 'kids' are cooking.. Horrible place no customer service anymore either. Don't waste your money.

Something has been going on , Mumms is shut.I heard that someone else was buying it but the sale has fallen through, the original owner now has it back and changed the locks but its future looks uncertain. Sad cos this is my favourite 'greasy' and local for me.

I have to say I am disappointed with the standard of cleanliness lately at this cafe, I have been a regular visitor in the past, but doubt I will go there again.The cutlery which is it left for customers to take from the cutlery tray, was terrible, visible dirt on these, making you think the dishwasher may need attention. The food that day was again poorly cooked. Frazzled eggs, deep fried cheap breakfast sausages, saute potatoes were white and not crisp. sorry but you need to do better or you will lose custom.

This typical "greasy spoon" offers a great service at good prices. No pretensions, it is what it is and it does a good job at it. Great value breakfast, plenty of of it and well served. Will certainly return and highly recommended if this is what you are looking for!

This is a very basic cafe but the food (I've had several breakfasts) is good and the value outstanding. Can get quite busy but it's big enough to cope with that.

This is great for a reasonably priced breakfast and the service is good too. It has a old fashioned café feel and is still thriving despite other cafes disappearing around it. Worth it for satisfying the weekend munchies. Go and check it out!

Having done a 7:40 drop-off at the ferry terminal on a bank holiday, I needed something to improve my day, and Mumms had the answer. Cracking breakfast, good bacon, proper runny egg, topnotch fried bread. Terrible for the waistline but great for the morale.I'd go back anytime. No 2 son had the 'Jumbo' for less than a fiver and probably won't need to eat for the rest of the day.

I have been going to Mumms regularly with workmates for the past couple of years. The food is good value and mostly well presented, but lately - especially on Fridays - the tables are quite often uncleared and the food takes up to 25 minutes to come out.This is not a criticism of the staff, they do not stop working and do the best they can. I would recommend that there are more staff on duty at such busy times, as when people are on breaks time is limited.

Enjoyed one of the breakfasts I've had out. Just over £5 for a mega breakfast, almost beat hubby which is unusual. Came with lots of things not normally on offer such as black pudding, mushrooms, bubble and squeak and gold dust as well as hash browns and all the usuals. Really tasty food that resembled home cooked. Cooked to order, very quick service and lovely gentleman serving (despite my staring at him as he looked like Alan Sugar) the only downside is the surroundings. Its quite "school canteen" esque and could do with some new tables and chairs however the walls were decorated beautifully with pics of 50'sand 60's movie/rock n roll stars. Ultimately the food is great as is the price. Will definitely be going back.

A freezing day in southsea and fancied a warming coffee, popped into mumms and looked at the menu, it was such good value we ordered egg and chips and sausage and chips to go with our coffees, total bill was £8. The food was plentiful and tasty the service was efficient and friendly and the place was pleasant and clean. It's a little way back from the seafront but you can park nearby for free and its half the price you would pay near the beach.

Been using this little cafe for many years now and thought it was about time I wrote about it.This place has always been about exceptional value for money. You get loads on your plate, its hot and decent quality too. A full breakfast is just £3.25 including a cuppa, roast dinners with a cuppa for £5.25 (if you go for chicken the meat portion is massive) and its wholesome good flavoured food all the way.As others have noted, Mumms had a makeover last year with a subtle 1950-60s American diner theme and free wifi onsite too.This is a very high turnover cafe and as such table clearing can be a little slow at peak times. But if you go up Commercial Road and eat in the more expensive chains like McDonalds, KFC or Costa the housekeeping compares very favorably at Mumms.Anyone who wants it all shouldn't go anywhere else.

Wow went to Mumms to find its had a make over, red and white and new pictures and free Wifi. Food as good as always, yes you can go to other cafes but you`ll pay double and well its good old pompei café.

If you want a good old fashioned fry up you can't beat Mumm's. For less than £5 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, hash brown, mushrooms, sauté potatoes, beans or tomatoes, toast or fried slice, tea or coffee and a slice of bread and butter. There are smaller versions as well at cheaper prices.This is a typical English cafe with a full varied menu all at good value. If you want fancy food or on a diet it's not for you. Just a nice cafe to suit all ages young and old, there is also a children's menuOn busier days expect a bit of a wait for food but it's worth it. There is no on site parking but street parking is available free within a couple of minutes walk.The staff are normally very pleasant and polite. I have been a regular user for over 10 years and will continue to use.
