Located in a stunning building (a converted chapel) with dramatic decor, this restaurant has a lovely ambience. Clearly a family business, everyone was very welcoming. As well as classic Indian food, the menu had several authentic Keralan dishes. The food was delicious - the best we’ve had for a long time, and well priced. We’ll be back!

Delicious and authentic Indian cuisine. We visited as a family and enjoyed every bite. Each dish had its own unique flavour, all very tasty.

Our family ate here on Monday evening. The restaurant was quiet, with only 2 or 3 other groups in. Service was attentive and swift, the food was outstanding! We had a variety of curry dishes; Jalfrezi, Tikka Masala, and Korma. All had the expected levels of heat, so no uncomfortable surprises, but the flavours and spice balance were amazing. My jalfrezi, with lime rice, had real depth of flavours, perfectly balanced. The tikka masala had a mild bitter tone which worked perfectly against the mix of spices. The best part of the meal though, was the desserts. They didn't actually have a dessert menu so we asked the waitress - and we're very glad we did. Our son went for kulfi (the safe option) which was clearly made in-house and which described as "amazing". Even after a large tikka masala, he polished it off in no time. We tried the "Gajar Halwa" which was also "amazing": Served warm, it was like a mix between the best carrot cake we'd ever had and a caramel sponge served with nuts and saffron. Altogether it was a superb finish to a superb meal. We travelled a long way to get here, solely for the purpose of eating here, based on a previous visit while on holiday last summer - and we weren't disappointed at all.

I've eaten in some seriously good tapas restaurants and bars in a number of countries. Foodwise, this one is right up there with the best. It's hidden away, they're unfortunate in the room's acoustics and there aren't many tables so you need to book but this was a meal none of the three of us could fault and the bill at the end was a pleasant surprise. Don't miss the patatas al aioli. Or the croquetas. Or the tortilla. Or the...listen, starve yourself all day and then order the lot. It's all fabulous.

A really disappointing meal and the service was appalling from start to finish. Was so embarrassed taking our friends that were visiting here with us . We asked for popadoms to have a basket of Big broken bits of popadoms slammed in the table with 3 tiny dips you could barely share between two never mind 4 people, they were all soggy. We all ordered onion bahjis for starters to be told we could only have 2 portions as there wasn’t enough left So 2 people ordered something else. When starters finally arrived after waiting 45 they were overcooked and dry.But to then see them serving bahjis to other tables we asked why we couldn’t have 4 portions of bahjis to be told we thought you would like to try something else? So we were lied to but then to back track and say it’s good to try something else! What?! no we wanted what we asked for not to tell us to have something else we are paying good money for the food we want. The we waited another 40 minutes before asking how long our main meal was going to be? To then be told another 10/15 minutes. The service was very very slow. No back ground music in a big massive room. When the food did finally arrive well that was another disappointment a big one!! One of our friends ordered a korma it’s looked awful I had never seen a korma so bad it was like a broth all watery with chicken in it. Chips were just about warm. All of us had different curries and the lack of flavour and wasn’t well presented at all. A friend also at the start of the evening asked for a malibu and lemonade and it came and they had gave her a different drink not what she ordered. Because basically they said they haven’t got Malibu. Why not ask for her to choose something else instead of putting a drink she doesn’t like in front of her. We were all very very disappointed with the whole experience. We left feeling very deflated after paying a lot of money for our meal . Customer service needs improvement. Very slow there was lots of people sat waiting a very long time for there meals. We even heard the table behind us ask can they have there food now, they have been waiting a long time they were there before we arrived.

All round poor service! Stale broken bits classed as poppadoms in a basket wiih dips so small they might as well served the sauces on a teaspoon! Then to be told we cant have onion bahiji starter? God know what i was actually eating as a substitute starter ? Very dry tasteless. Mains we even worse, all 4 of our curries were as thin as water to the point we had to ask had we been served the wrong order? As it looked more like soup! Chips, rice, naan all served cold. We did ask to cancel the order because of the appalling quality! This did not go down well! Given a £10 discount. So many people had been waiting hours for the food, almost everyone in their seemed angry. It seems the owners favour money over quality in this place, more interested answer the phone and takeaway orders. First and last visit.

Visited this place with a couple of friends this Saturday evening. There were items on the menu that we didn't recognise. The waiter was excellent at describing exactly what was in each dish, and advising dependant on your tastes. Firstly I decided to try the aubergine chaat. Amazing! 😋 One friend sampled the chicken special and was very happy with her choice, and the other friend went for traditional samosa. All enjoyed. For main I chose the king prawn alleppy, which was perfect for me. My friends chose to have chicken dishes and they said they were very different from each other and delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant with ambient table lighting. Service was very good, and of course with a smile. We all want to return as soon as we can.

Take away from Mumbai Maska Oswestry on Saturday night. I went to the Mumbai at the Lion Quays last year which was one of the best Indians I’d ever had so was delighted when they came to Oswestry. Booked my home delivery off the web site which wasn’t the easiest to use. The meal arrived 20 mins late as he couldn’t find the house which was a mystery to me. Onion bahjee for starters they were over cooked almost black, could not taste any onion just some sort of mush, limp lettuce and a couple of slices of radish( I think ) a bit like you can get in the supermarkets. Chicken Korma with 5 pieces of over cooked dry chicken, thin sauce with no cream, coconut rice, peshwari naan ( pictures below ) which was burnt and again some sort of overcooked coconut mush in the middle. All food was Luke warm and to say I was bitterly disappointed would be putting it mildly a complete waste of £29 pound. I’d have been better off going to supermarket for a ready meal. Will certainly not be doing it again or recommending to any one else.

Wonderful setting in a converted old church. Lots of space between tables making it feel special. Attentive staff. Wonderful food, tender meats with good depth of spice. Best of all the naans, freshly cooked, light and crispy. Recommended

Takeaway from oswestry. Food arrived on time and still warm which is always a plus point. Quite expensive considering the competition locally and what we ordered. Ordered via justeat which worked well. The taste and spices were excellent 10/10 but more sustenance (veg/meat) required. The takeaway arrived via a guy on a push bike and recommended some dishes which was great touch. So overall, tasty food, but expensive. If they decrease the prices I will definitely try it again. As they say, nobody regrets buying quality.

My husband and I have been going to The Tandoori Cottage for 34 years, the fantastic quality of the food has always been consistent. Our favourite dishes are a chicken madras and a chicken rogan takeaway. We have found the staff very friendly and professional.

Headed here for a special treat. There were only three other tables dining so not rushed off their feet yet food took a lengthy time to arrive. One chicken dish only had 4 meat pieces in so not great value for money. Portions are much smaller than previous visits. Caution service charge added automatically even for small tables.

Ordered from Just Eat, what a joke….. was told 5 minutes ….. 45 minutes later it turned up after chasing several times. Cold, crushed and the popadoms were in a thousand pieces !!! This is council curry at its finest !!!
