Sensational meal in a really lovely and very elegant restaurant Thank you to the team there all of whom made my visit perfect I absolutely loved the meal I had - every dish was sublime

On holiday from Yorkshire we we decided on a takeaway. We randomly picked mumbai because of its clarity with allergy ingredients. We had one starter two mains (which we had never tried before) three sides and a bread. Honestly it was the best Indian I have eaten. Another positive was there was plenty .

Hadn't been to Mumbai for a while, what a shame, we have been missing out on excellent fresh food, friendly staff, excellent service, immaculate restaurant, all round top quality 👍 can't wait to return.

From the moment we stepped through the door,we were made very welcome. Staff were very pleasant. Happy to help with our choices. I had chicken tikka masala and steamed rice ,very yummy .When you go,and I would recommend it, have a look the " family ' sign hanging up. Ask the owner. Such an amazing story.Dinner

This restaurant was AMAZING the staff were so kind in every way they treated customers so well and the food was just MMMM it was the best food I’ve ever tasted in my life and the music itself in there was very calming it took no time to get a table and the food didn’t take long at all.

Had the best food coupled with the best service by far , absolutely love Mumbai flavours and can fully understand their winning yet another award 👏 our "go to " place especially when we have visitors up from Sheffield who massively appreciate a fabulous curry. You can't visit Alnwick without sampling our outstanding Mumbai flavours.

Six of us had a fantastic meal here. The lamb was the best I’ve had, so succulent and just falling apart. You could taste it the mild dishes through to the very hot dish. Service was spot on and friendly. Would not hesitate to eat here again.

Mumbai just keeps getting better. Already a top class restaurant, latest visit didn't disappoint. Staff knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a dish which suited the night/moment. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Mumbai in Alnwick is definitely the best in Alnwick and the surrounding area. We travel 6 miles for the takeaway and their Madras is gorgeous. Staff are always friendly and helpful

Takeaway. First class. Delicious authentic food. The quality of the food and the ingredients is excellent. Honestly, this food could not have been better. Also, a very friendly service was experienced. The paneer is soft and delicious lacking the rubbery texture one can experience. The king prawns were actually proper king prawns and cooked to perfection. My daughter enjoyed the mixed Tandoori grill and thought it was excellent quality and flavourful. Being half Indian I prefer authentic Indian food and this was perfect.

We are from Bradford so love a good "Indian ". This place really stood out. 4 people had 4 different meals & all 4 loved it. Food perfect, ( hot,down to wimpy very mild)absolutely spot on. Staff including the gaffer had all the time in the world for a right good natter. Very highly recommended!!!

Came here for mine and my partners anniversary. Only visiting Alnwick by chance on our way to Edinburgh so only time for a curry and sleep. That’s all we needed! Had such a lovely meal served by the loveliest people. Couldn’t recommend enough can tell they are some genuine blokes and again the food was fantastic! Will hopefully be back in the future longer than one night to revisit!

Clearly there is a reason that this restaurant has won awards. The food is fantastic and also the service is very very good.

The food is superb....the staff are so obliging...this is by far the best in Alnwick...go and experience the Mumbai.... enjoy yourselves...select your meals and tuck in......but please don't eat all the lamb chops they are simply amazing and I want them again and again.

I don’t often write reviews, but Mumbai Flavours is so good I felt I had to. Absolutely fantastic meal, faultless. My husband had a lamb dish, which he said was excellent with the lamb melting in the mouth it was so tender. I had the prawn rogan Josh and it was the best I’ve ever had, so packed full of flavour. Prompt, welcoming and friendly service. Lovely decor. Very reasonably priced, excellent value for money. This Indian restaurant is so good we are looking to book again before the end of our holiday.

We were visiting our Auntie in Newcastle and had tickets to got to Alnwick Castle Christmas Light show so needed an early tea in Alnwick. My Auntie was told that this restaurant was delicious - and they were right. The decor and atmosphere were excellent, beautifully decorated. I had a King Prawn Puri to start and then we shared a couple of chicken curries, a naan bread and a portion of rice. They also seemed busy with takeaway meals. If you are looking for an authentic Indian Restaurant not very far from Newcastle then this is the place. Thank you for an excellent meal.

We went to Mumbai on recommendation from a friend who lives in Alnwick and weren’t disappointed. Staff were very friendly and service excellent. Food was delicious and generous. Will definitely visit again. One of the best Indian restaurants we’ve visited.

We were lucky because we had popped into 2 other pubs for a meal to be told they had stopped serving, so it was Mumbai's gain as we were welcomed in @ 8:15 in the evening by attentive staff and served excellent quality food and the usual Cobra and Kingfisher.

Arguably the best Indian food. The lamb mehti mint was tender and delicious. The chips were without doubt, the best chips from an Indian I've eaten.

Went with a group of nine friends for a birthday celebration and the service was impeccable and the experience was Devine(even though my friend poured lemonade everywhere) would recommend to everyone especially our server fransouir who was quick and efficient. 10/10

Really tasty food and excellent service. We hadn’t booked - it was a Tuesday - but they were really busy! Found us a table quite quickly. Food was great! Really tasty and well balanced spices.

You can see why this restaurant is award winning. Really varied and tasty menu. We over ordered but they happily let us take away our leftovers which were equally as delicious the next day! Lovely waiter too who tried to warn me I'd ordered the hottest curry on the menu!! Spicy but very good!

Staff were polite and welcoming, very attentive. Managed to fit us in last minute. Food was excellent, we had lamb methi mint and chicken achari, food was succulent. Would definitely recommend. And will definitely go back if in the area.

Me and my family visited here 10 years ago and we revisited this week and it hasn't changed - brilliant food and service. They have a vast selection of curries, and some unique sweet ones as well! We particularly loved the naans, some of the best we have tried. Would recommend.

Hands down one of the nest Indian restaurants we've ever tried. We come all the way from Edinburgh to have their food! Their Mehti Mint is out of this world! Their service is also so lovely filled with genuine care. We will be coming back soon.

A lovely spur of the moment booking when visiting Alnwick. Great meal and experience - good food, great service and pleasant ambience. Little niggle with the over seasoning of the Aloo. Recommend the Lamb Chop and Chicken Tikka starters- superb.

On holiday in Alnwick for the weekend we were lucky to chance across the Mumbai. The staff were very friendly and the service was impeccable - our waiter was respectful of us wanting to take our time to finish the remnants of our meal. We enjoyed the relaxed, convivial atmosphere as a couple in amongst other couples and larger groups. This is a place I would also feel comfortable dining out as a single woman. The food is great value for money, fresh tasting and carefully seasoned. The degree of spiciness was just right in my mild/medium dish. It's good to find a place that offers a true range of spiciness appealing to all palates. We had 2 poppadoms with pickles to start with followed by a side dish of tandoori paneer, 2 vegetarian mains, 2 chapatis and a portion of pilau rice. We have healthy appetites and this was the perfect amount - we were definitely full! The place is obviously popular for takeaways with its local clientele too. We wouldn't hesitate to revisit Mumbai and thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a value for money quality meal out.

Fantastic food, no wonder it has won an award for the best Indian restaurant of the year at the nations curry awards 2024, and right in the heart of Alnwick.

Ordered a take away as they were too full, waited about 2 hours to get it although we were told 1. The food was pathetic extremely oily and uncooked bread we ordered the puris, kebabs and chicken which was just a disappointment. Will not recommend ever and to add of everything they never even had the courtesy to give napkins or cutlery and served everything In polythene bags even items like salad didn’t even care to put it in a box.

My partner and I dined here while staying for a night in Alnwick, the food is amazing and the best Indian meal I have had, so tasty, the staff were lovely and the restaurant is clean and a great atmosphere - we will be back!

Called in on Friday 23rd August without a reservation. Received a friendly greeting and sat upstairs in a very welcoming area. Food was delicious and sevice prompt. Please open a restaurant in Wylam we will keep you in business. I had Chicken Tikka Rogan Josh which was spot on. My husband had Chicken Tikka Masala. Would happily work through the menu.

Delicious food which even surpassed our experience 2 years ago ! The Nehari lamb and the Ceylon style king prawn curry were excellent. Nothing was greasy. Even the poppadoms were the lightest I’ve eaten at any restaurant! Good service and nice location. Would highly recommend and will definitely re -visit.

My family and I ate here on holiday. It was a fantastic meal. The food was gorgeous and the staff were extremely friendly. It was relatively busy (a good sign) and the atmosphere was wonderful, with great music and wonderful staff who were more than happy to accommodate us. It was a fantastic evening and I will be back!!!

Went Saturday night second time we have been in the last 6 weeks lovely meal and great service.

Good food, friendly serving staff but a cool welcome from management at the door on arriving and the same on paying and leaving. Costs nothing to smile and be friendly. It was a bit of of downer on what could have been a great evening.

The meal the four of us had at the Mumbai Restaurant tonight was superb - subtly flavoured & well-balanced. There was something for everyone & we couldn’t decide which tasted best. Yes, it wasn’t cheap but the prices were justified. The service was excellent too, we didn’t have to wait long, even though it was very busy - cannot recommend it more highly.

An amazing restaurant!!! We had a superb meal last night and were made to feel incredibly welcome. Having travelled from the Harrogate area, we arrived a little late but Nazin and his staff were extremely attentive. We have been to the Mumbai restaurant in Alnwick a number of times and it will always be our first port of call. The food and service is always top notch and I fully recommend it to others. Many thanks for making our trip to Northumberland extra special.

Lovely food, friendly staff but not overbearing. The service was quick and efficient. Nice selection on offer. We visited on a week night so were able to get a table but you might have to make a reservation at the weekend. Family friendly too. Loved it.

Ordered take away - the food was delicious! Lots of chicken in my dish and lots of prawns in the other. Flavours were amazing! The chicken pakora was lovely!

I have just eaten THE best Indian meal I have had in many years ! I explained what I wanted , creamy but with some punch , and was assured that my choice would meet my expectations. It did ! So lovely , creamy sauce with hints of coriander and honey , layered with nuttiness and something delicious I have yet to identify . Would I recommend? Absolutely! Photo says it all really !

Passing through and checked out some reviews and fancied a decent Indian meal after a let down one in Callander. They were busy but squeezed us in and I’m so glad they did. Absolutely amazing dishes and great service. I had the lamb madras and it was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the sauce was divine. In fact all our meals were fabulous and our family of four enjoyed a wonderful Indian experience, I made sure to shake the owners hand before I left. 10/10 thank you!

We had booked a table for 2 at 8pm on a Sunday in August. We decided while out in Alnwick that we would rather eat earlier and when we phoned to see if we could change the booking it wasn't a problem. The staff were very polite and friendly. The food and service were good. Would recommend.

We are from Spain and every time we visit the UK we go to Indian restaurants here because they are so much better than in Spain. But this one was over the top. Attention was great, friendly, welcoming. Food was so delicious; when pompadoms and plain naan bread make you want to eat just that, guess how great was the rest. If you come to Alnwick, it's a must.

We turned up with no booking and was able to get a table on a Saturday night. Although this Indian was busy it was very efficiently run. The manager was on top of his game and kept everything running smoothly and the staff were great. But we didn't feel rushed and the meal was delicious with fresh ingredients.

Cannot recommend this place enough! Service was impeccable, the food was divine and very reasonably priced too. It’s just a shame we were here on holiday- wish this was our local curry house!!

I brought my family to this restaurant as I got it recommended by one of my friends and I was amazed. Just walking in I find the decor is lovely. The menu is quite wide and has many various options to chose from and they have a good selection of drinks. The waiters and waitresses are very polite which is key for a restaurant. The starters came really quickly and were nice. As soon as I finished the meal the waiter is already here to take my order for the main course (brilliant service).I ordered the butter chicken with some butter naans. A waiter just brought a smoky dish to another table and it looked tasty. The food has just came after around 20m (okay service). The food was tremendously delicious I loved the balance of the sweetness in the butter chicken and the naans were alright. The food was nice for the amount of time it took them to make it but after all it was delicious. Although this restraint is quite small the food is brilliant and I will go again. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by Alnwick.

Well-kept restaurant with very friendly hosts, great food, large selection!

Super friendly welcome, excellent atmosphere and delicious food. We had the saffron gin, definitely a hit with a curry. Followed with Bengal fish curry, a total gem. Go here, and be impressed. Also spotlessly clean.

I wish I could give this place more than a 5 star. The food is out of this world. Fresh tastey & plenty of it. The customer service is outstanding. So polite helpful & friendly. Nothing is a bother. A must for top quality dining experience.

So nice and delicious food, very friendly staff! We can't stop eating even when we've been stuffed 🤣 I'm not a big fan of Indian cuisine but this restaurant definitely deserves to be visited! We will come back and not ones!
