I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional experience we had at Cilantro on September 7, 2024. With only a short notice, I needed a top-notch restaurant near the location of my proposal at the Hexham Bandstand. I reached out to Cilantro and spoke with Nabs, who went above and beyond to accommodate us. Despite our tardiness, Nabs secured us fantastic seats and ingeniously kept my girlfriend entertained at the till while I prepared for the proposal. She fondly recalls how Nabs played around with the touch screen to keep her occupied during those precious minutes. Ollie’s recommendation of the lamb curry with peshwari naan was spot-on, and Izzie made us feel incredibly welcomed with her warm service. The restaurant’s beautiful decor and elevated ambiance enhanced our experience, and the food was truly delicious. Cilantro played a pivotal role in making the day unforgettable for us, and we will always hold it dear in our hearts. Thank you to Nabs and the entire team for making our special day so memorable.

We had a delicious meal at Cilantro last night. I ordered 3 vegan tapas, expecting them to be small but they were not small. Next time (there will definitely be a next time) I will just order 2. Food, prices, atmosphere, service - all brilliant 10/10 ☆☆☆☆ Maggie

We just happened to come across this restaurant on a search when we spent the Bank Holiday in Hexham but what a find!! The food was soo delicious and the excellent staff talked us through the concept of indo Latino tappas and how much to order. My only regret is that this restaurant is not closer to home because I would definitely be a regular.

Fantastic meal with a unique range of tapas and traditional Indian food. The curries were the best I have tasted. The tapas were faultless. The service was very efficient and waiter was helpful and friendly. Will definitely be booking again.

Great experience. First visit to Hexham and we read about Cilantro on line and decided to book. So pleased we did. A very interesting menu. Food cooked to order and very tasty. Reasonably priced and the staff are a credit to the establishment - very polite, cheery and helpful. Will definitely make a second visit when up in the area again.

Cilantro Restaurant was a great experience for my wife and myself. The staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. The food was fantastic, we tried both Tapas and the Indian dishes... both were excellent. This was our first time here, we will be back and encourage our friends to eat here too.

Loved it! Food absolutely lovely & good choice, service spot on, we had Ollie for our waiter & we were so impressed! What a lovely polite helpful lad. I took my Husband for his birthday, his favourite meal is KP Jalfrezi, I noticed when booking that this wasn't on the menu however I emailed beforehand & they instantly emailed back to say they could make this for him. Food was amazing, the nachos were my husband's favourite & I loved the onion bhaji. Will definitely return. The restaurant is so beautiful inside with great views. Quick service. I asked for dessert for my husband's birthday & they kindly brought it out with a sparkler & played Happy Birthday music. I don't give many good tips but I did here, that's how good it was.

Really enjoyable. Different take on a standard "curry" but very well worth trying! Very friendly service and fun food combinations combined with some great flavour combinations. Good value for money too!

Food always excellent booked for Sunday night after the Queens Hall know the meal will be wonderful never disappointed

Overall we had a pleasant meal. The food was very enjoyable. As with so many places the criticism is on standards of service. On a table of 4 one meal was 5 minutes later than the others with no explanation. When we had finished eating the waitress started clearing the table but didn't finish the job. Customers aren't disposed to ordering more fayre when they are sitting round a dirty table and dishes for 20 minutes. Better trained and more attentive staff would raise standards and earn 4 or 5 stars. If we do return hopefully service standards will have improved.

Loved this! Don't know why we haven't been before. Actually because OH wants a 'decent sized curry' and thought he wouldn't enjoy tapas. We found options for mains on the menu, he definitely wasn't disappointed and neither was I! Ended up sharing all the plates anyway. Food excellent, so was the service and ambience. We went tonight and I have to say this place is exceptional. I had the Lamb Curry and Chilli King Prawn Masala + mushroom pilau and my partner had the Okra, the Goan Fish Curry and the Cliantro special salad, all tapas portion. If you’re visiting Hexham this needs to be at the top of your list. My partner says I’m hard to please food wise but this place gets 5 stars from me.

A novel take on Indian food, served in a tapas style. We had 4 dishes between us, and they were all wonderful and tasty. Nice atmosphere with seating on the first floor overlooking the town square. Would definitely eat here again.

We had a great meal here last week. Went early as we were going to a concert later, and it all worked out fine. It's the second time we've been and both times the food has been excellent. Would particularly recommend the spicy okra fries.

One of the best places I've ever eaten. Customer service was phenomenal, the staff were really exceptional, especially the young lad who served us most. Can't fault the place at all. The Goan curry was probably the best non spicy curry I've ever had! The opening time has always been the reason we've never visited, but since we've been I've told everyone to go. Absolutely amazing place... Tried to find a negative but I really can't. Deserves more than 5 stars!

I visited Cilantro a couple of months ago for a meal and had a takeaway last night. The meal was amazing, probably the best Indian meal I've had. We had several different tapas and although a Chicken Dupiaza curry wasn't on the menu, they made me one. Best Dupiaza I've ever had! I had a takeaway Dupiaza last night and it was just as good. I'll definitely be a returning customer.

Not cheap but novel selection of dishes

me and my partner came to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and it was wonderful, every time we come the staff are so welcoming and lovely and the food is stunning!

This restaurant is full of atmosphere there are two rooms on the first and second floors which are set out with intimate tables of 2’s and 4’s. The service was impeccable the staff were attentive to your needs, everything was explained how the menu worked between Tapas and Main meals. Drink prices were average. The food was unbelievably good I asked for a main course that wasn’t on the menu the chef obliged with a fabulous cooked dish. All in all a great experience and comes well recommended.

We went out on date night and prebooked online- really easy to do. We arrived and the smells and look of the place was divine. The staff took us through the menu and explained it all clearly. We went for the tapas and we also chose a curry as a tapas and added rice and chaptis. All really tasty, full of flavour and not too spicey. Would highly reccomend and will be going back- P.s they do do desserts, we shared one as we were so full.

We are great fans of the Valley at Corbridge but hadn’t realised that Cilantro in Hexham was part of the same family. It’s great! We had a selection of tapas sized curries between three of us and that was better than ordering regular meals. Our friend from Kent rated the quality of the onion bhajis as amongst the best he had enjoyed. Hopefully we can be regulars here (though it was pretty busy).

We found this restaurant by chance when we were having a short break in Hexham. We had a great evening - the food ( we went for the tapas) is interesting, original and eclectic - particularly if you like "fusion" foods. But the star feature of this restaurant was the staff - the manager and his young team were friendly, knowledgeable and well- trained, and really made our dining experience a delight. We will return!

Wow, what a find ..We had an amazing evening at Cilantro...The most delicious food ever, the staff are so welcoming and went out of their way to seat 8 of us at short notice, by juggling the seating arrangement around. The food was so tasty and varied, we had an assortment of traditional fayre and Indian Tapas meals. Everyone, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, we have planned to visit again very soon... Huge thanks to the staff for making the evening unforgettable.

Met up with some friends and their family ranging from 6-84 for an early evening meal. Simply delicious! I was intrigued by the idea of an Indo Latino fusion but it was very well executed with a great range of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu too. It is perfectly possible to go down the traditional route and we all varied in our choices and mixed and matched with much lip smacking. A lovely and welcoming venue for young and old alike and extremely well priced. Thoroughly recommended for a most convivial evening. The only tiny word of awareness for those who need to be careful with their mobility is that there is a flight of stairs to get to the main restaurant but they are not steep and there are handrails.

Would definitely go back to this restaurant, food was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit.

We stumbled across this hidden gem by chance as we looked around Hexham. The menu had tapas size portions or normal if you are a bit hungrier. Starters and mains were both delicious. Both service and food were fantastic and I will definitely be back when next in the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Cilantro and will be back. The food was very tasty, the service was friendly and efficient and there was a nice buzzy atmosphere (Friday eve). The bill was also reasonable, so extra marks for that!

First time at Cilantro's for my wife and I, we had dinner before a show at Hexham Abbey. We were seated on the top floor overlooking the market place, Christmas tree and the Abbey itself, great spot. Service was prompt and staff were knowledgeable (we had 1x Vegan so a couple of questions). Food was tasty, everything a bit different, fresh and thoroughly enjoyable. Will be back again soon.

We paid a deposit based on 8 to 10 people, in the end it was 8 of us but they charged an extra £10/ person for the 2 that didn't turn up, 1st time in my life that has happened and bad form. Will not be going back because of that. Food was excellent but that spoilt the night. Wednesday night in November it was not like they were busy.

The restaurant has a great ambience and view of the historic church and market square of Hexham so when you sat down you were instantly expectant and the food did not disappoint. Great selection of dishes and good value, we will definitely be coming back if we're in the area again.
