A deliberately "old school" curry restaurant with a comprehensive menu of old favourites and newer dishes, available to suit a wide range of tastes and preferences. There's plenty of choice for vegetarians as well as shellfish, fish, lamb, and chicken. The only thing missing (thank goodness!) is pools of ghee - our food was all crisp and fresh, including some superb breads, samosas, and pakora. Lovely.

We usually visit every 1 to 2 months when we are in the area, it never disappoints us. It is a very friendly, clean and inviting restaurant. The staff cannot do enough for you, just ask and they'll do their best. About to visit again tonight 26th April, so looking forward to it. 5 star in my opinion, give it a go. Tony

Absolutely fantastic, we had a chicken korma to share with my daughter and a lamb madras, sides of bombay aloo and aloo gobi, everything was cooked to perfection, lal khazana has a great atmosphere and the staff are very attentive, highly recommend a visit

Hands down the best Indian restaurant in the North East! The guys here are super friendly and attentive and always remember you! I come here quite often and would never go anywhere else... the food is superb, the staff are superb and the place is superb! If you're ever in Northunberland it's absolutely worth the journey.

Highly recommend been coming here every Easter from Scotland for last 8 years + when staying at Felmoor park the food is amazing and staff are so friendly well worth a visit

Took a chance on this place whilst in the area. It was really fantastic. Food was excellent as was the service. Apna style cooking did not disappoint.

Absolutely riveting flavour. Had to get my vitals checked after eating here, I thought i was dreaming. May need to consult my therapist about this place as its all i can think about. 5 stars simply isn't enough.

Another curry and another great meal. The food is always great here. Takeaway order and it was piping hot when I got home. I like working my way around the menu to try all the meals. Staff are friendly, welcoming and can't do enough for you. Picture does not do the food justice, my plating skills need some work.

Lovely food and great service, a lovely place

We’re a frequent visitor here and we’ve never been disappointed with any meal. My 3 year old TJ (picky eater) loves the plain pilau rice, yoghurt and chapati. My wife loves there dhal on par with homemade she says n she’s tried quite a few from different Indian takeaways, she also like the chicken tikka masala. I have tried many curries from vegi to chicken tikka my newest favourite is chicken karai. Made to my (fussy) specifications apna style. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit you won’t be disappointed. would recommend 100%

Always get a takeaway from here and it has to be the nicest indian we've ever had, and the guys are always super friendly and attentive when you go in. If youve got a sweet tooth like me the korma and kashmiris are gorgeous.

I return time after time because I am treated like royalty, never hassled and often spend more than 2 hours there with excellent food, beautifully cooked and nicely served. The restaurant is a great asset to Shilbottle, always happy to support the village, a place where I consider I have friends. All my visitors ask to be taken to Lal Khazana; we enjoy reading the varied menu( plenty of choice for vegetarians) almost as much as eating the food! Parking is easy and access straight-forward.

This is a gem of a restaurant. Food is top quality with some fabulous and different specials. The welcome and service is simply top drawer. If you are staying in Alnwick or anywhere nearby I highly recommend making the short trip out to Shilbottle to visit Hussein & team at Lal Khazana, I’m certain you will be delighted.

I’ve been going to the Lal Khazana for as long as I’ve lived here, it’s always been first class! The food is excellent, not a bad item on the menu, I would highly recommend the Khazana’s mixed platter for 2 if you’re sitting in. The service is spot on, the staff are always very friendly and good crack. Very attentive and tend to go the extra mile for their customer’s.

I took friends recently for the evening their first visit as always it was superb my prawn shatkora was the best I have ever eaten we all enjoyed our meals the service was first class the atmosphere lovely . Had another amazing meal at Lal Khazana tonight! I travel for work and eat curry all over the UK and feel truly thankful that I have these guys on my doorstep Great service from Mr Mir, always happy to chat with a friendly approach, I'm sure he's getting taller.... We had poppadum and pickle tray then Mel had Chicken Tikka Balti, I went for Bengali Sizzler, both were succulent and beautifully spiced! To accompany them we shared a garlic and coriander Nan and a tikka pilau which is so generously filled with tikka it would almost do for a meal on its own Pints of Cobra on draft along with a plethora of other drinks both Indian and British We can't wait for our Christmas Day sit down meal, an absolute snip at £40 a head when you consider other local restaurants serving traditional fayre are charging at least double and in some case triple that! Keep up the good work

Loving calm chilled setting already had food from take away but tried a meal tonight best thing I’ve ever done my birthday is Sunday so my and my partner thought we would celebrate a meal for my birthday last night Friday, ordered pickle tray, popadoms, 2 chicken chat starters garlic and coriander nan, garlic chips, garlic rice, chicken korma, and a chicken tikka masala, 4 glasses of wine 4 double vodkas which were more than generous, a couple drinks on the house for my birthday in two days which I thought was a really nice gesture, already said best Indians I’ve ever had but last night it was the best Indian food that has ever passed my mouth out of any dish I’ve eaten and I’ve been to a lot of Indian take aways, definitely be back for for a meal in the future no doubt about as was one of the most favourite meals I’ve ever had!!!!

Really, really good. Super tasty and utterly delicious. I think that sums up the takeaway I had here very nicely. Probably one of the best Indians I have had and the friends that shared the meal were equally thrilled. It's maybe a bit out of the way in Shilbottle but it is definitely worth travelling to. The restaurant looked very comfortable and the premises looked well maintained and clean. The car park was pretty full and according to some people who were waiting for their food, it is always pretty busy. Also, they said, the food is consistently good. All round, I would highly recommend.

Have eaten at this restaurant for the third time tonight as we were on holiday in the area once again. The staff are always friendly and obliging and the food is great! We've had a take away before and the quality is no different from the food we ate tonight. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
