Aramee in Northumberland

Worst chicken tikka masala ever! And I’ve had a few! Was very watery, very little flavour and the butter chicken was the same. Not much chicken in the dishes for the price either. Chips were nice and that’s it! Won’t be returning sadly.

Superb! We hadn't booked but called in on the off chance that at 6pm on a Saturday they may not be too busy and might be able to squeeze us (2) in. They were lovely, and they managed to accommodate us despite actually being quite busy. Staff were friendly and efficient despite being run off their feet with a lot of people phoning for and collecting takeaways. Food was divine and totally lived up to our hopes. I do think ambience is lacking a little but that's purely down to the constant shrill ringing of the phone and the line of people coming in for their takeaways. Not a lot they can do about this but the incredible food and service make it worth going regardless. can't wait to go again!

There's no other way of saying it but the takeaway dishes we received were terrible. Should I say one was really terrible and the other was just bad. It did look a little different from the vast majority of Indian takeaway curries I 'd had previously as there was no oil on top of the curry at all. I know sometimes there can be little and sometime a great deal, but with these two dishes there as nothing. I thought it was maybe an effort for a healthier version. We ordered a vindaloo and at first taste I thought they had sacrificed flavour for strength and tried to make it as hot as possible. Another taste and it soon became apparent that it was just awful and not a proper curry at all. Vindaloos can have a beautiful and very distinctive flavour, just as a madras can, but this tasted of nothing more than water and spice powder, and absolutely no taste of fresh ingredients. You could literally taste the chilli powder mixed with water, and that it had not even been cooked long enough for any chilli powder flavour to 'develop'. It really was disgusting and how this can be served to anybody is beyond me, whether the customer is experienced with Indian food or not. The chicken tika pathia was in a similar vein but not quite as bad. The chicken tika, as it was supposed to be, tasted nothing like chicken tika and had a very weird taste. The meal was packed up in the bags it came in and thrown into the bin. Appalling to call that a vindaloo and sell it.

Had a lovely meal tonight, the Banglar Takari is spiced just right, staff warned that it was spicy when I ordered but it was perfect. Great staff, lovely food, decently priced and a nice atmosphere, what more could you want for a local Indian Restaurant.

We arrived at 6 and really enjoyed are family meal I always find the meat of high quality and service excellent by the time we left the restaurant was getting busy with a good buzz but if you like it a bit quieter go at 6

Visited here last night on my 1st visit with friends. The Decor was nice.. the welcome was warm. Here are my opinions. 1. Food was 8/10 = needed more chicken, and their rice portion was good. 2. Service was 7/10 = our servers didnt know what food they were serving and had to check with the kitchen as our meals were passed around the table.? 3. Atmosphere was 10/10 pleasant a little loud at times as it was full. 4. Hygiene was 9/10 toilet area they were good overall. 5. Final thoughts was 9/10 would we return- yes

Wonderful food with excellent sevice

Called in for a takeaway tonight for the first and last time. I have never had such a bland Indian meal, bought 3 mains but am so disappointed. Unfortunately the food doesn't compare to the restaurants in Hexham.

We always get great service from the team here at Aramee the take out is great too. It's always busy here but they normally can fit you in and I think it's good value too

The service is good ; however the food is horrible. We took takeaways and it's the spiciest to the death. There is no other test only a mix of chilli powder with water. The chicken pieces were hard as they were over cooked. The mixed veg curry was tasteless..over not recommended if you want to just do a takeout.

Large loud bunch spoiled our experience, no consideration whatsoever. The restaurant should have told them to keep it down a bit, but they didn't...annoying...

Food was fantastic, garlic with cheese naan was not on the menu, but they served it up for me on request. Unlike most Indian restaurants the desert menu was extensive, & my choice of ice cream based vanilla toffee was outstanding at just £4. They let us stay past closing, & served us a complimentary Sambuca each. The hot towels were a really nice touch & value for money was outstanding, given the cost of living crisis. Toilets were well maintained & clean, the only stars I've withdrawn were for atmosphere, nothing to do with the staff, a family run business, it was just a bit quiet when we went at nearly 10PM on a Friday night, but I was delighted we got a table after watching the Chelsa game, so hats off to this restaurant, fabulous food at 2019 prices, with incredibly friendly but unobtrusive staff. An easy 5 stars & one of the best Indian restaurants I've experienced in any country.

Always a warm welcome and always a fantastic curry. I normally take away and normally order a hot curry like a madras or vindaloo. Both are really tasty.

Nice restaurant and good service. My two sons and myself had chicken curry which was good but lacking chicken. Papadom starter, 3 curries (2 vindaloo and 1 madrass) , a rice each and a nan bread with 1 portion of chips, plus 4 bottles of larger and 2 cokes ...£103 ..expensive

Relaxing atmosphere. Real Indian food. I had the tandoori chicken and it was delicious. Plenty of space, but I would book ahead.

Our visit to the restaurant. Super friendly and professional staff, food was lovely. We had lamb Rogan Josh and probably the best ever. Sag Paneer, Keema Peas and Peshawari Naan...all fabulous. Will definitely be back for their Thursday night banquet.

Had takeaways from the aramee but hadn't dined in the restaurant for a while. I was pleasantly surprised, the decor was tastefull, the waiters were very attentfull.. it was lovely and warm and all together a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.. xx

Lovely food, reasonable prices. The banquet deal is excellent, though a little unfair on odd numbers of people, when a side is 1 between 2, though we don't mind paying the difference.

The usual great experience here. A lovely evening was had with fantastic food served up to the the three of us. Courteous staff as per the norm in here added to the the great relaxed atmosphere . Our food was so tasty and fresh, spiced to perfection with excellent rice and naans to add to the sublime taste. The flavour of the food in here never lets you down, it only gets better, well done to the chef, well done to the front of house staff and as I said earlier a lovely all round experience.

I came down for a nice meal, clearly stating to the waiter my peanut allergy. The waiter reassured me that he could make me a meal without peanuts. I then proceeded to taste my meal and my night was instantly ruined as my waiter hadn’t taken his job seriously, my meal contained peanuts.

Amazing food and the staff are brilliant Always busy so be prepared to wait but the service and food is excellent so well worth the wait . Would recommend booking and can’t wait until their next venture opens upstairs .

This establishment is one of the best Asian food restaurants I have ever been in and eaten in these establishments from Oldham to Longsight in Manchester to the one’s in Bradford’s curry mile. But the professionalism of Mr Asmull and his son and their excellent chefs and waiters with their helpfulness in making you feel welcome and well looked after makes it a every pleasurable experience in fine Asian cuisine in this well run clean modern well presented restaurant a excellent dining experience. I would also like to advise any future customers to ask for Home Style Asian cuisine which this restaurant will do for you if you ask for it because not many restaurants are willing to do this for you because it longer than usual to prepare and you can really try Asian cooking you may have to wait a bit longer but I can assure you that it will be worth it because it is made differently to the English version.

My daughter wanted us to try the banquet on a Thursday, 6 courses for £13.45. We have no been here for many years and were looking forward to it, as had been many years ago and the food was always lovely. My starter of garlic mushrooms was ok, tasty, but oily. My husbands chicken tikka was miniscule with 3 tiny bits of chicken. The poppadoms came with no chutneys, just a bland white sauce and onions. I and my daughter had chicken tikka masala and pilau rice. When it came it was a bowl of red liquid, with four tiny bits of chicken. I say chicken, it could have been anything, it was rubbery. The sauce had no spice whatsoever and was very liquid and very sweet, it was vile, just like eating tomato ketchup and I have had many chicken masalas over the years to compare. Portion sizes were tiny, we were all still hungry.My daughter was upset as she had really wanted us to enjoy it. Coffees were part of the deal, but we had to ask. Most staff were nice and friendly, but ine young nan looked quite angry. Decor is beautiful, but a very disappointing visit. Maybe the ordinary menu is better.

Went for a family meal. Bhuna prawn on puree to start was delicious then we all had a variety of dishes for main which we all enjoyed. Staff are very polite and friendly and the ambience of the restaurant was really nice. I thought speed of service was just right as you dont want to be rushed through your food. I've been to places where on entering they have said you have the table til x time as they want it for someone else after but it's not like that in here. Really nice evening would go again definitely.

I would like to say this review is about food but unfortunately there was no food !! We were shown to our table through a crowd of people picking up takeaways, our drinks arrived and our order was taken, an hour and fifteen minutes later I went to find what was happening with our starters, a further fifteen minutes and still nothing!! So after taking our table @8pm we decided to leave @ 9:35pm Went into the Chinese next door got our takeaway 15 minutes later and ate it at home Never again!!!

Phoned up at 19.00pm, said it would be ready to pickup at 20.15pm. We received order at 20.45pm just to greedy taken on to many orders. There were eight/ nine people waiting for orders. Then when we got home rice was wrong, but we will not be back.

Once again a fantastic evening was had here. From the very start to when we left after over 3 hours later the service and the food was exemplary. The refurbished restaurant is very very tastefully done out now with comfortable spacious areas for all diners. The staff were as usual friendly, efficient and full of intonation with the customers. The glass of champagne upon arrival went down very well, the food that followed was some of the best I have ever had in over 40 years of dining out in Indian restaurants. Total compliments to the chefs working tonight. A mixture of king prawn and chicken and mushroom starters were totally amazing in their flavours. Unbeatable. The mains were also fantastic, house special curries, chicken and lamb were chosen which the chefs cooked to perfection again. Simply delicious. Accompaniments were also tasty and fresh adding to the dining experience. Just to finish off here and add, it was a great night, great company, great waiting on staff in a great establishment. Very well done to the staff on such a busy night. You must try it as i am sure you will love it.

Purchased a takeaway after reading the reviews unfortunately it did not meet any high standards they served Frozen chips and the keema nann bread was almost a plain one hardly any filling The lamb Madras was very wartery I was rather disappointed with the meal 5/10 at best maybe restaurant serves higher quality than takeaway

We are regulars here and are never disappointed with the quality of the food. The restaurant has genuinely kept us going throughout the pandemic with their excellent takeaway menu and friendly staff. We returned last week to enjoy a fabulous meal inside the restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed. The menu is varied and has some unique dishes, alongside this the chef will adapt any recipe to suit individual taste: all you need to do is ask. Azmol and his team always make you very welcome, so come along and try it for yourselves!

Another fantastic, tasty meal at Aramee. The Covid measures are all in place and adhered to. The manager there is so nice and welcoming. The staff are so helpful and friendly without being too full on. We were impressed to see staff Sanitising the menu’s We opted for the Thursday evening Banquet £11.95 ....very good value for money. The seating is set in accordance with current law restrictions in place. The cutlery, tableware, sparkling crystal glasses and fresh pristine white tablecloths/napkins and fresh flowers give it that extra touch of class. Love the food, atmosphere and it is definitely our Number 1 restaurant.....

Visited recently. Not as good as years ago. They're cutting down on portions, not a lot of chicken in curries. The fish curry I chose was far too hot ( and it was a medium) and I like hot curries. Couldn't eat all of it. Hubbies chick tikka starter was tiny and his roshan curry was all onion and no chicken. More value for money at Spice Delight takeaway and the portions are excellent. Sticking to takeaway.

Four of us ate at this restaurant at the end of July. They had all relevant social distancing in place and it felt like a very safe environment. The food as always was top quality. Fabulous sauces and really tender meat. The waiters are really professional and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend you try this.

We ( 3 of us ) were so pleased to be back out in a restaurant for the 1st time since lockdown rules were relaxed.It was well worth the wait.Easy to distance from other diners due to the slightly different layout so we felt very comfortable.All courses of food were so fresh and tasty with wine and the usual few beers it made for a very nice evening.Our selection was Bhuna prawn on purée starters, chicken vindaloo, chicken dhansak, chicken tikka massala, egg pilau, Bombay potatoes and plain naan. All dishes were so good it certainly brought a few smiles to our faces.As I say each time I review, the staff are friendly, smart and attentive. Not much more to add really.Thursday evening is a bargain time to visit for the cheaper banquet menu, exceptionally good value with no corners cut on portions or quality. Actually superb value really.We will be back in the very near future.Well done to the restaurant staff for tackling the tricky issues very well.

Absolutely superb. Best Indian meal in years. Can't recommend highly enough. I would recommend this restaurant to even the most concerning customer.

We went as 2 couples and we all had different main meals and enjoyed the food immensely. There were subtle flavours in all of them, unlike so many curries in other places where an overwhelming hotness overrides the subtleties of a good Indian meal. We decided as we left it was definitely a restaurant we plan to return to.

We regularly eat in the Aramee and always thoroughly enjoy it. Huge menu, excellent staff, lovely environment and the service is excellent even when they are busy. Easy to eat gluten free too as the menu is so huge. Would recommend it to anyone.

Ate here loads and always been spot on, but not tonight. I only live 3/4 minutes away but all the takeaway was stone cold when I came to plate it up. Now we all can get it wrong but this is where it gets really poor. Rang up to politely complain and they were blameless and somehow this was possibly my fault! If you get it wrong it's simple, put it right. Don't just dismiss your customers comments with a couldn't care less attitude.
