Mugs Coffee Shop in Kettering

My panini is not a panini and it's covered in flour. The food is basically edible and I could buy better frozen at the grocery shop. Waste of money

Popped in with the wife when in kettering, fancied a coffee and this place looked good, got served by a helpful girl and ordered at counter, got a seat and drinks bought over to us, tasted great and piping hot, good atmosphere and clean, one of ketterings best coffee houses.

Always a lovely cuppa with outside seating, friendly staff and a good crowd of regulars.... open throughout the covid days ...life saver!

Shop not particularly busy, however there was a steady flow of ‘Just Eat’ orders being collected. We waited 40 minutes from ordering to receiving food. The toast was crumbly (normally a sign of stale bread being used) and the full English breakfast was mediocre. There was a half eaten chicken nugget on the floor by the window which was fuelling the infestation of flies. There were bananas at the serving area which were black and had turned which I suspect was a source of the fruit flies. The windows on the inside would not appear to have been cleaned for some time given the cobwebs in them. On the plus side, at least this would help catch the flies. I spoke to the supervisor who listened to what I had to say but did nothing to address any of the points raised. Very disappointed with our visit, because Mugs used to be the place to go for a fry up in Kettering, but unfortunately it’s really let itself go. It wouldn’t take much to turn it around and I’m sure with some appropriate training, the staff and owner could achieve this. The photos are of the chicken nugget and flies on the floor and the flies and cobwebs in the windows.

Ordered takeout through uber. Hash browns were delightful, beans were of a good quality and not swimming in sauce, the sausages were packed with flavour and the bacon was cooked well. Spot on would order again.

I always try to eat at Mugs because it's central in Kettering & I've always had good service & meals. But yesterday left me very disappointed. We ordered our food at 12.25 & were brought our drinks. The place was busy when we arrived but it soon emptied. We waited for 45 minutes & eventually our meal arrived (a burger with chips & a toastie...not a mammoth meal!). While we were waiting, we noticed lots of 'Just Eat' staff coming in & going out with orders. The waitress did apologise for the delay in our food. But if Mugs wants to keep foot customers coming in, then they have to prioritise paying physical customers rather than online/app orders. It's as simply as that!

Lovely well cooked breakfast .Poached eggs also good .Would like a pot of tea instead of cup? All staff so friendly

Usual stop had tea and a tea cake with plenty of butter! Quick service ,waitress pleasant . Will be back

Come across Mugs by accident and what a lovely accident it was! We ordered coffee and cake and the slice was massive! Really really enjoyed it and actually can’t wait to go back. We read the menu while we sat and the prices are really good and some real treats in there. Can’t wait to return! Friendly staff, clean and tidy and obv popular spot for the locals... see you soon!

I was here by pure luck, I was on my way to an event and was an hour early so stopped and looked for somewhere to get a coffee and a warm up after a 3 hour ride on my Harley. Anyway. It is a lovely place, staff were friendly and helpful. Superb strong coffee and the nicest breakfast bap I’ve ever had. If I find myself in Kettering again I will drop in.

My daughter brought me here for a late breakfast one day. I was very impressed. The food is standard fayre but really well prepared and cooked. The portions are huge: I'm over 20 stone but couldn't finish my burger. The salad that came with it was a proper salad, not just a bit of garnish on the side of the plate. My daughter's mediterranean salad was plentiful and delicious. Prices were low - I'd say that, for what you get, the value is the best I've come across in the area. The service was first-class too. Highly recommended!

I have been to this cafe a couple of time now and I have enjoyed myself each time. The service is always friendly and the food is consistently good. I’m a big fan of the soup they do there.

Popped in with my eldest granddaughter. Good, friendly service and clean tables. Busy inside so you know it's popular. Nice coffee and tuna panini. Couldn't fault it!

I work in Kettering and fancied a coffee before my working day started. I walked to Mugs and the door was open so went in. The lady told me they were not open until 9 am. The time was 8.56 am. I asked if she could just make me a coffee and she said no as the machine wasn't ready. If you're not open, keep the door locked. I think Mugs is missing a trick here and should consider opening earlier - people who work want a coffee to take to the office with them before 9 am. By not opening until 9 am they have lost over £10 a week just from me as I will go elsewhere to get my coffee.

Everything about this place is great.The food is always delicious.The staff warm and friendly.i had scrambled eggs on toast....perfect

Met up for a chat and lunch.i had delicious home made vegetable soup with a roll,very filling.My friend had the prawn sandwich,came with salad ,all good.Staff nice and friendly and helpful

Loved to be in this cosy coffe house with good sandwiches and delicious caramel shortbread. Coffe and latte are great. Staff are really hepful and friendly.

Light well cooked breakfast for under £4...amazing ! and there was plenty on the plate. Not a huge cafe and it soon filled up, which perhaps indicates its popularity.

Met a friend for lunch. We both had homemade soup.vegetable and leek and potato,delicious!! The plate was big and we had a roll Staff are friendly and helpful .We will be back again

First time here last week. Really nice cosy place with the friendliest staff. Great choice of food and drink, very reasonable prices and brilliant portion sizes. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely place to lunch. Great food and Kian is a fantastic server. Not a great place for wheelchair users as its a bit tight but you can squeeze in. No toilet though for disabled as there are steps.

Great place to eat. Nice selection on the menu. Just be sure to say how you want you meats cooking or breads toasting as they can be over done. Especially if they're busy. Best place ive found for filled jacket potatoes. Nice selection of drinks here as well, both hot and cold. Seating inside and outside.

This place is constantly good .the tea is hot the tea cake is perfect and the staff are pleasant. The place is always nice and warm

My fella bought me here for an impromptu breakfast. When we pulled up, the outside didn't look too promising but looks were obviously deceiving.

Being going to Mugs for a few years but have to say the serve the best coffee in town.....forget Starbucks and Costa....if you want a decent coffee at the good price....go to Mugs. Also they have a good lunch menu and do the best jacket potatoes and toppings ever.....always presented with salad and coleslaw....nothing better on a cold winter day....they also do a good Christmas specials.....

You cannot beat this place ! Met a friend for lunch. I had a breakfast , it was perfect and delicious. My friend had a chicken salad sandwich , this was full of chicken and had side salad as well .The staff are friendly and helpfull. We will be back

Classic cafe stuff but with a very good quality of food. Tasty and pretty efficient too. I've never had any issues with food here. Sometimes the staff are a bit cold and not very chatty, but otherwise it's a great spot for lunch in Kettering. Great coffee too!

Met a friend to catch up with all the gossip at lunchtime. Loads of nice things on the menu We both had poached eggs on toast , delicious!!! And only £3 . The service was great and the staff all very pleasant

always come in here for the cheddar chicken bacon and bbq sauce panini its my fave thing that you have on the menu!!!!

Stopped with a friend for lunch .Both had chicken salad sandwiches with chips..... Delicious ! There was so much chicken in the sandwiches , we should have shared . The chips were hot and tasty Staff very cheerful and helpfull

This café is my hero after a heavy night out in town and need somewhere for the perfect hangover breakfast! Quick and Easy service. Staff are always friendly and are always happy to help. Food is always amazing and is cooked fresh to order. Have tried other things on there menu and im never left unsatisfied. Perfect place for a catch up with friends or family, or somewhere to grab a bite to eat would recommend to anyone.

Stop here regularly for lunch and enjoy the food every time we visit. Good place for lunch with good prices.

Been going to Mugs for years now......won't have coffee anywhere in kettering.......coffee that you can taste and enjoy.....not your Costa, Starbucks or other poor served coffee.

I have been going to Mugs for years. Great place for lunch with friends. Friendly efficient staff, extensive menu. Their jacket potatoes can't be beaten and their nachos are divine. Milk shakes are also excellent. Good value for money too

Great place for a drink and food. Especially the bacon and cheese jacket potato. I use this every week. Good choice for lunch.

Only our second visit to Mugs, but will definitely be more. Excellent food, great service. Big portions, chicken salad ciabatta today was delicous. I thought that only cakes and drinks were available, but breakfasts, salads, sanwiches, jacket spuds, burgers etc etc are on the menu. Good prices for fresh great food.

Have used Mugs Coffee Shop many times over the last seven years. Coffee is the best I know (very strong, freshly ground from beans) and the food is excellent. Food portions are great, freshly cooked to order, and while you may have to wait a little longer, especially when it is busy, it is worth the wait. Toilets are spotlessly clean. If there is a downside, their outdoor eating area is noisy, used predominantly by smokers, and small, and not that many small children and pushchairs/wheelchairs* can be accommodated. Overall, thoroughly recommended!

I use this cafe when I'm out shopping for a rest and a quick drink, never eaten here but the coffee is good.

One of my favourite spots to meet for lunch. The sandwiches are always made fresh and the coffee is consistently good. The atmosphere is always nice in here and the staff are really friendly.

I love mugs! the food is great, the staff are lovely, the drinks are well made and the prices are incredible. Definitely a great lunch time eatery and a Sunday morning hangover cure!

Service much improved on in recent years after a spate of finding I was invisible to young waiting staff, great fresh cooked food fantastic brekky. Only down side is not really suitable for wheelchairs and couple of steep steps to loo's which are also not disabled friendlily so on my bad days have to go elsewhere, as in my chair,

This is a great place to go when in town shopping. A cut above the manic "chain" coffee shops, a fast and friendly service is provided to your table. They make this chicken salad with caesar dressing that is absolutely to die for! I can't go there and not have it!

Visit here often, great food reasonably priced. Never had a bad meal would reccomend the jacket potatos. Great atmosphere to.Well worth a visit to all.

Certainly the best tasting cappuccino in Kettering, and a good selection of food on menu. Lovely atmosphere, and good to visit an independent cafe.

Great brekky for all but vegans - other half is a veggie, I am not, no good for vegan daughter and if wheelchair user you will have a prob as loos up steps

I've been here a few times and every time I've been the food has been great :) lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and Reasonable prices. Haven't been here for a few months now but I will defiantly return soon. People who haven't experienced mugs coffee shop should defiantly go. X

A must for lunch time blues and mum's who need a quiet cup of coffee and some nice food.Very fresh and tasty food never greacey fantastic coffee. Nice & clean always a big smile when you walk in.

Well worth a visit, high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Didn't manage to sample any of the home made cake but will be back.

A good coffee shop is not just about the coffee, it's about so much more and Mugs has it all!!

Love this place. Kettering is full of coffee shops but this is the only one I ever visit as its by far the best. Food is lovely & filling - jacket potatoes are my favourite. There's something for everyone on the menu as well as a great selection of hot drinks. Not sure about the review saying about having to order at the counter - I've always had table service & never noticed anything different but I guess you can do either. Only improvement I would say is that they need a bigger place now as its always so busy!

Went in for lunch based on trip advisors reviews. Had to go and order at counter although it appeared that some "regulars" were getting table service. The "boss" was busy doing his paperwork in the middle of the restaurant and the staff were not unfriendly but certainly didn't make any effort. The food was fine, I had Tuna melt panini served with salad and a cup of tea. Although it wasn't a bad experience, I don't think I will bother going in again as it didn't offer anything I wouldn't expect to get as a minimum anywhere.

Perfect spot for lunch or early dinner. They change the menu to offer customers variety. The place itself is usually busy this shows how popular the cafe is to the local people. I would recommend any dish and the gingerbread milkshakes. I work in the restaurant trade and can be quite fussy when it comes to food establishments, but mugs have never let me down. Thanks Mugs.....

The waitresses are all gorgeous, the service is excellent and the coffee is the best I have tasted. What more could I want?

Mugs has become a staple whenever we head to Kettering for lunch. You can always count on them for a decent plate of food for a very reasonable price. Staff have always been good too. Haven't been in a month or two but will surely be heading back soon.

Like this little quirky coffee house, alot cheaper than the famous Italian one thats sometimes found in supermarkets. The food here is also made to order, cheaper and in my opinion nicer and good value for money. Good surroundings, atmosphere and great experience, I'll be calling in for a coffee again soon.

I love Mugs! My husband and I have been going to Mugs for a few years and it's great for a quick coffee and a cake, snack, or for a more substantial lunch. They are also licensed so you can even have a cheeky beer or glass of wine with your lunch without having to sit in a pub! The staff are relaxed, although attentive, and the food is always really good, great choice and freshly prepared, the burgers and wraps are my favourites, as well a jacket potatoes - which are HUGE! I always like the music too, it's just got a really nice atmosphere and is always busy! Keep it up guys!

a good way to pack the calories in is by having one of their hot chocs with all sorts of things thrown in!

we have been to mugs many times now. the atmosphere is always relaxing and the staff are friendly. The food is very good quality (susages and bacon etc) and the portions are very good, Price is very good and there are some interesting coffee's etc on the menu. Ideal for coffee or lunch

I had never even thought of visiting, until a friend suggested it. The place has a really relaxed feel inside, friendly and helpful staff. Did not have to wait too long for our food, had a wrap which was really tasty! Great portion size too for the money! Really enjoyed it, definitely pop in and give this place a go, I didn't regret it.

I went to Mugs at the end of September with friends for a bite to eat for lunch and catch-up. I was pleased to see a carmel ice coffee on the speical board - yum yum!
